Is it better to "lock" or "power off" after an Ipad 2 use? Why.?

A locked iPad is sleeping and will be usable much faster than one that has to be powered up. The sleeping iPad uses very little power, but it uses a few percent of the battery.

    They do.
Standby = press the Power button
Power off = Press and hold Power button then slide the red power off slider.
Reset = Press and hold both Reset adn Home till you see the Apple logo.
This option will help to avoid pressing power button less number of times and gives better user experience.
Because it is better to not push the power button and more enjoyable to not push it?

  • When I connect my guitar using apogee jam the note drops off after a few seconds. Why???

When I connect my guitar using apogee jam the note drops off after a few seconds. Why???
Its the same on most of the preset amps.
Please help, the apogee cost me £80!

Is it stopping recording after 8 seconds? Are you using Garage Band?
If both of these are correct:
This is actually a feature (i'm not sure why it defaults to this).  Instructions for the iPhone version are below:
With the amp section open, touch the sproket on the upper right.
You should be in a "settings" type area with three tabs.  Touch "Sections"
Select the section and switch it to automatic - it will now record until you stop recording by touching the stop icon.

  • Power off after lock screen

How about making the power off function only available after the lock screen so if someone steals your iphone they can't turn it off without your passcode. Then it could stay traceable.

  • Mail has to be forced closed to power off after maverick upgrade

After taking the maverick upgrade to power off the computer I have to force close mail. Not a huge deal but wondering if there is a setting I don't have right.  I'm pretty new to this mac world...less than a year...so I'm still learning.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Odgenite,
Please first complete your profile, if you don't know how please click Profile Update for instructions.
The first thing to do is restart in Recovery Mode, open Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions 2x. If you don't know how to start in Recovery Mode then hold down the Option key when you hear the startup tone and you will see what partitions to start from. Choose Recovery, then open Disk Utility. After running Repair Permissions 2x restart normally and re test. If this does not work then open in Recovery Mode again this time reinstall OS X, this will leave your data alone however it is ALWAYS wise to backup your data prior to doing any update or upgrade.

  • How can i turn off Find My iPad without using the iPad?

My swipe screen has stopped working completely on my iPad. Very disappointing as it is only 18 months old and has been well looked after! I have tried holding down the off/on button and menu button to reboot but this doesn't work. I have now logged the fault with Apple and have an appointment to see someone in the support team this Monday. However, I wanted to try one more thing. I want to restore to factory settings as I've read that this could resolve the problem. When I plug it in to iTunes and try to restore iPad i get a warning message telling me I need to go to iCloud settings on my iPad and turn off Find My iPad before restoring. As I cannot use the iPad I cant do it from there. Is there another way? Please help me, I want to weep!

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE (this will disable Find My iPhone)
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • Plastic coating tears off after one month light use

Does anyone have problem with the coating (the plastic edge that goes around the front screen rathet than the sides) coming off or peeling after couple months of using? Purchase mine a month ago in early October and notice both bottom corners paint/coating peeled off or came off. It made this almost brand new phone looks undoubtfully cheap! Trying to mediate with the local customer service, but they claim the damage is caused by scratches which is not bound by Sony warranty but my phone is abosolutely scratch free everywhere around where the peeled coating area is. So frustrated as I sold my Sony Z2 to get this and didn't expect such cheap quality compare to the aluminum housing Z2 had.
Please share if you had similar experience and it would be great if someone from Sony Global can respond to this. Not happy at all and probably will not pick another Sony phone especially those with the plastic coat on!

Thanks.  Sony CS showed me one of this printout as their "evidences" showing the coat wore off was caused by scratches. To me the plastic coat looks like it got heated up (by the phone or either my firmed grip?) and stretched (there are white stretches mark circled by me that looks more like its been torn off rather than scratched off).
I am not convinced as there are little or no physical scratch mark on the screen especially when I have a protective sticker on which picked up little or no scratches, while it shows no scratches at all on the side bezel.  Moreover, the way CS described it as they used their machine to estimate and confirm the peeling were caused by scratches and when I asked them to show me evidence of stats they say they are unable to provide, which sounds completely ballic.
I demand them to run a heat test on the phone to see if it affects the plastic coating meanwhile and ask them to provide relevant stats to back their finding on the so called scratch marks they claimed... will see what happened in a couple of days.

  • HT1212 i know what to do to a disabled ipod, but the screen has a small crack in the right side and will not allow me to slide the lock or power off button all the way. what now?

i had tape over the crack before, and i was able to use the ipod but i took it off one day because it was getting dirty. i put more on and it wouldnt work so i took it off again. now im not allowed to undisable it because of the crack. its on the right top corner of the screen.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • Firefox will disable my HP L7680( error message " turn power off then on again") when using either the printer icon or print in file pull down. .

This happens for em & other print request in my online brokerage account. It has no problem printing PDF files. When the message appears, four lights start blinking at the same time on the auto answer button, on off button, lower SD slot, and the light under the OK button with the directional tabs. At that point I have to power down the printer and change to ie8 to print these. My ie8 browser has no problems with any printing, but it does not function when trying to add notes in my Comcast address book

Mowaffaq, you may want to determine whether you are making those changes in the master printing preferences (versus the adjusting the session printing preferences from within your application).
Click "Start", click "Printers and Faxes" (or "Devices and Printers"), right-click your printer, and select "Printing Preferences". On the "Paper/Quality" tab, you should be able to specify A4 as your default paper for all future print jobs.
    Hope that helps.

  • Power off after putting iMac to Sleep

    Have you ever experienced this?
Put you iMac to Sleep and it powers down - not a shut down, but the power goes off - no blinking light, no whirring of the hard drive, no sign of life!
I have read and performed many of the tips regarding NVRAM, SMU, PMU, etc. resets. None have worked.
    Situation 1-
Use the 'sleep' command - moments after the machine powers off.
    Situation 2 -
iMac screen saver will run for a short time, then screen goes blank, the power light illuminates, the fan spins full speed, and the machine is totally unresponsive to mice clicks or movements, or keyboard entries.
    Situation 3 -
Sometimes upon power up, the iMac doesn't start, but you can hear a faint buzz sound from the back of the machine. Similar to audio hum.
These problems occur whether or not other devices are connected to the iMac.
    Connections-
Standard USB devices - mice, card reader,
    Bluetooth keyboard
    Ehternet
    Power Settings-
    Screen saver 5 minutes
Energy Saver - to sleep when inactive - 15 minutes, display to sleep - 15 minutes.
Various other settings tried with no change in problem.
I suspect the power supply. What's your opinion?

I began experiencing the same thing this week (two days ago). I also tried repairing permissions, resetting SMU, and removing the iTunes receipts (Library/Receipts) since this is what caused an earlier failure to sleep. The difference is then the computer would not sleep, now it shuts off instead of sleeping.
