Is it compatibale with SpeedTouch 585v6?

Good day to all of you.
I have speedTouch 585v6. Its wireless signal is so weak! I'm maybe 6 meter above the modem and I have no signal. I want some device to expand the reange. I found your product but I'm not sure if it is compatible with my router "Modem".

No, you can name either what ever you want - EDIT - eg 'BTHub main' and 'BTHub iPad'
Also do both hubs have to have the same Wireless key?
The wireless encryption key (what you call key code) on my hubs are the same - eg a1b2c3d4e5
(never tried with a different key on the slave hub, but it should work)
Sorry if I'm being obtuse - it's obviously a senior moment I'm having!!

Eric, this can happen after a failed update that partially changed your Firefox install directory.
Try a clean reinstall:
1. Download the Firefox installer from [http://mozilla.com Mozilla.com] and save it to your desktop or other location.
2. Make sure that Firefox is closed completely
3. Delete the Firefox installation directory (On Windows, this is typically the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder that contains "firefox.exe" and other Firefox program files and folders).
4. Reinstall Firefox by running the installer you downloaded previously.
Your personal settings, including bookmarks and history, will not be lost.

Will Hylafax work with speedtouch modem?

I am having trouble getting Hylafax to work with my speedtouch modem. when i run faxaddmodem, it asks for the serial port number but i don't know where to get that info. Does it work with adsl modems at all? Thnx.

Well... I got the AEBS working! but its working thru an old router... For some reason in my ignorance I thought if it cannot lock to the dynamic IP of the modem then would it be able to lock to the static ID of another router?? The answer is yes! Not the idea setup sure! but for the time being I have got the power of the airport extreme and the disk facility and remote printer etc.
Actually it's a pretty crap solution really, but it's bought me some time...
Vodafone said there shouldn't be a problem and it should work, they know of no problems...
I think I'm just gonna send it back and maybe pull the remainder of my hair out..

Limit bandwidth per IP with Speedtouch 780WL

I want to limit the bandwidth to certain IPs in my network. However, I have no idea how to do this. My router is Speedtouch 780WL. Are there some telnet options for this?

I suggest using a Linkys WRT54GL with tomato firmware. See also:

Airport Extreme having trouble with SpeedTouch

We recently just got DSL at home. We live in Guatemala, and the phone company gave us a SpeedTouch 580 router that can only be configured with a PC. My husband has a PC and we were able to configure the router and my G4PB does see the wireless signal and I can connect to the internet.
We tried downloading the speedtouch software and configuring it ourselves. But, first it asked for a password, and none of the passwords we have worked. We also tried restarting and configuring the router ourselves. But that did not work.
My husband can't configure the router or change its settings. I don't seem to be able to do this either.
I can connect to my airport and am printing wirelessly.
We wanted to use my airport express as a remote station to extend the reach of the signal. Our service providers gave us a WEP password, and I have tried using a $ before the password, but no success. I have also tried assigning a fixed IP address, but nothing. The wep password has 8 numbers a letter a number and another letter.
My airport seems to connect to the router, but I have no internet connection.
Anything we can do?

While I can't help you with your problems configuring the SpeedTouch 580 router, I can help you with your other problem - you are wasting your time trying to configure an Airport Express to "extend the reach of the signal" because that mode of operation of the Airport Express is NOT possible with your SpeedTouch 580 wireless router. With your SpeedTouch 580 wireless router, all you can do is configure the Airport Express for "client mode" which will allow for wireless printing and iTunes streaming - but no range extension, and the ethernet port on the Airport Express won't be active.

Connecting to Internet with speedtouch modem

Have established satisfactory connection with G5 but would occasionally like to switch to G3. However, Speedtouch is not included in the Services list under "modem" in Network preferences.

The problem you have is that you can't have two network connections (the USB one and the Airport) active at the same time.
Can anybody help??
The solution though is as follows.
System Preferences > Sharing > Internet
Share your USB internet connection via Airport.
This configures the Mac as a software base station.
Re-configure the Airport Express as a client for this Mac based wireless network.
You will then have an active internet connection and be able to print wirelessly and use AirTunes.
Personally I would recommend you replace your USB modem with an ethernet (wireless) modem instead.

I don't want to have firefox 4. I want to go back to firefox 3. How do I do that? I have a program that I use on my computer that is not compatibale with firefox 4 and is with firefox 3.

I use a program called Digital Persona Personal. It stopped working when Firefox updated from 3 to 4. I have tried everything to get it to work. I went to the website of Digital Persona and asked for help but they said that there is no fix for this and they no longer work with clientele like us only business's now. I really need to use this program as I have a very bad memory problem and don't remember usernames and passwords very well. That is why I have a computer with a fingerprint reader. So, you see I really need your help in going back to Firefox 3.

Is a 1st generation iPod nano compatibale with iTunes 12?

I have a 1st gen iPod Nano (lucky me, but I like it). After downloading iTunes 12 the iPod will not sync with iTunes. Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. That did not work. Called Apple and they said the iPod may not be compatible with iTunes 12. So they were no help at all. You would think they would know the answer. Tried going back to an earlier version of iTunes but it will not play my library since it was created with a newer version. So it sounds like I'm pretty much screwed unless I buy a new iPod. Anyone have any suggestion.

Glad you were able to sort it out - iPod cables and USB ports can sometimes by mysterious in their variability - though in your case the symptoms suggest that a conductor may have failed inside the cable you were using. I've found that, using a selection of cables:
my 2G nano will occasionally be detected as being connected via USB 1.0 (even when connected to 2.0 ports)
my 3G nano syncs fine but steadfastly refuses to charge when connected to any of the USB ports on my main computer, though using the same cable charges happily when connected to a USB AC adapter

On your other question, it is possible to completely replicate your library across two or more PCs. As long as the iTunes database (iTunes Library.itl) is duplicated as well as all your media you then have two physical copies of one logical library, with which iDevices will sync on either computer. See turingtest2's notes on Make a split library portable to see how to verify that your library is in a consistent structure to make replication easier, and Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy on one method for replication (typically using an external hard drive that also serves as a regular backup). My configuration looks like this:
where the library on my "master" system is replicated, using MS SyncToy and an external HDD, to two other systems - a secondary one at home and one in my office at work. My iDevices will sync to any of these without the "threat" of wiping their content because iTunes detects that they've been previously synced to a different library - because of the replication method used the "unique" library identifier that iTunes uses in the sync process is actually the same on all three systems.

We are attempting to upload a PDF file into an internet application. We are told that our Windows 7 is not compatibale with our Adobe software and even though we have the file name appropriately it will not populate in the window that is available.

EN488AA docking station compatible with Elitebook 6930p?

I have an Elitebook 6930p laptop at work that uses a KP080AA docking station.
I bought another 6930p laptop for home and I have an EN488AA docking station that looks idential to the KP080AA docking station but my 6930p laptop is not listed as being compatible with the EN488AA docking station (although it does plug into it ok). Perhaps the EN488AA doking station is just an older version of the KP080AA docking station?
Can anyone tell me ifthe 6930p will work in the EN488AA docking station? I don't want to harmmy new laptop by just rying it out..

I actually found the answer myself in the small business HW forum of this HP website.
In that post, it said that the EN488AA docking station IS compatibale with the Elitebook 6930p laptop.
I have since plugged my 6930p laptop into the EN488AA docking station with no damage done that I noticed.
The only issue I have is that when I swap the laptop into the docking staion, the display resolution seems to get screwed up on the external monitor. The desktop is bigger than the physical screen so some icons can't be seen. I haven't had time to investigate that yet. I am sure there is a setting I need to adjust somewhere for that.

When I connect my speedtouch 585v6 I get the following:
Downstream: 4498
Upstream: 448
The only other difference is that the SNR is down to 6.8dB.
All my telephone cables are CAT5E and I also have the Iplate fitted, I have installed new filters on both outlets.
Is there a fault with my HH? or is there a nown cap using the HH?
I cant use the speedtouch as I use the Broadband talk through the HH.

Your noise margin is very high (it should be about 6dB), which suggests that you've had repeated faults on the line. A high noise margin means lower speed.
If your line is now stable, then leaving the home hub connected and turned on constantly could fix it. But be prepared to wait. Last time my noise margin went up, it took about 3 weeks of a stable connection to go back to normal.

SOLUTION: E71, N85, N79, 5800 + WiFi Thomson Speed...

For two weeks I had been trying everything (no mac filterings, all kinds of encryption, without encryption, specific channels etc etc) but nothing helped to connect my 5800 to my Speedtouch 585v6 router (firmware 7.4.3.2 - i suspect that olders might work fine).
I had connected to a dozen other networks without a hitch, only speedtouch ended up with no gateway reply.

So, if you have tried everything and nothing helps, you have to connect with telnet to the router and disable quos for the wifi, as in the above page. But it would be nice if Nokia and Thomson investigated this issue..

External hard drive doesn't work on iMac, does work on PC

Hi everyone.
I have an external hard drive which is formatted with ExFat. I recently put all my stuff on it as my MacBook Pro was sent to repair. So it obviously works with OSX. I also put stuff from my PC, and have tested it several times. Compatibale with both! I then left it alone for a while and tried connecting it to my iMac. It doesn't read it, not in desktop, not in Finder. I went to Disk Utility and there it is, but unable to mount. I tried verifying it and it said it needed to repair. I repaired, but it quit the repair and said that I needed to format the hard drive. I tried connecting it to my PC and it works like a charm. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why my PC can read it, but my iMac cannot, since I've used it with both just two weeks ago. I tried several USB ports, no luck. I tried pretty much everything, and since I have everything on it I'm in despair, as I have absolutely no free space on my PC, so I can't transfer my data to that, and I'm fearful that the external drive will collapse any minute now. ANY suggestions?
P.S. I recently updated my OSX, still no luck. And I might want to add that the ExFat is a partition, the only partition on my external, taking up all 1 TB. But again, I used it just as it is two weeks ago without any issues.
