Is it enough to simply completely cover the white field?

I am looking at the blank page and everything is white. I am going to insert a picture of a pink flower (very close up), and I want that image to fill the entire page. The Navigation Window will not be displayed.
QUESTION: Can I rest assured that I have correctly placed my image if I can scroll completely up and completely down without seeing any of that white browser (?) field?
Thank you.

Hi Lorna!!!
I kept thinking today...what the heck is she talking
about a white field??? But now it makes sense to
me....you like to use the Modern blank template so
everything is white! And it might be a little
difficult to see where the white PAGE ends and where
the iWeb WORKSPACE continues.
.......... Lorna says ................................................
Yes, yes, you are describing what I see!
So I came home and did my experiment finally like I
said I was going to do.
.......... Lorna says ................................................
Give the guy a Krispy Kreme mini kruller for that!
I have a blank white Modern
template page opened up in iWeb. Of course, "Show
Layout" under the View menu is selected. So all I
see right now is the navigation menu, a long
horizontal banner photo with a text box inside, and
the outline of the body content and footer. Beyond
that, the whole page is white.
.......... Lorna says ................................................
Yes, that's what I see too. OH! Guess what? Instead of using a blank page, I used the first template showing on the template selection drawer. I used it because it the used by default as the Welcome page.
I see why I should have just used the BLANK page. 8-(
So here's the deal with the white space....
Everything that is inside the grey lines/boxes is
your page and will show up when you publish.
Everything outside the grey lines is just blank iWeb
WORKSPACE that will not show up on your published
page. If you plop a giant photo that is larger than
the available page, the parts of the photo that lay
outside the grey lines will be cut off and NOT
APPEAR on your published page. So if you place your
photo so that it exactly comes up to the edges of
the page, you will still see the white space around
it....but that is just iWeb WORKSPACE and not part
of your page. I can now understand how this might
look confusing if you had your closeup peony flower
photo filling up the whole page and yet you still
saw all the white space around it.
.......... Lorna says ................................................
Well finally you see it. Whew! I feel better. I understand your explanation. BUT I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE CALLING IT A WORKSPACE. It would be a workspace if I could actually cut and paste and whatever and work in that space, but that is not the case. That white expanse of field is just where I can push empty undeletable text boxes, or where overly-large photos can sit while I try to fit them into the window. I would call it a SPILL-OVER SPACE. It is passive space. It is not used for work. It is used as a garbage can, a holding tank, a card table with stuff on it.
But James, the next part of this is HOW DOES ALL OF THIS RELATE TO THE INSPECTOR guy? Let's say I go to Inspector > Page. You have told me that you do not fill in those spaces until AFTER you have finished the page and you know for sure what the numbers are.
Please tell me where I am wrong:
So after you finish your work on that page, you then want to enter in the numbers in pixels in Inspector > Page. To know what the height is in the first place, you have to go to Metrics, right? And Metrics tells you what something measures, in pixels? And then you copy those numbers into the Page dynamic boxes?
So now you have those dynamic boxes in Page filled in with text height. WHAT DOES IT MATTER? PLEASE TELL ME WHY IT EVEN MATTERS!
I have discovered that I like to put 15 pixels of padding on top and bottom because that is a visual cue for me. Beyond that padding, I see the browser background; without that padding, the text/picture window goes right up to the top of the monitor screen and I don't know for sure what's under there.
So please tell me why it matters to enter those numbers on text height, header height, footer height, etc. BTW, I always have ZERO header height, but...... under what circumstances would a person include a header height? What would go into that header? Page numbers?????
I am going to print out your post. It makes sense now but I can't always keep details in my head forever. Just because I understand it now doesn't mean I'll remember it later. (You might ask me how I got my students to understand that from real life entertaining experience.)

  • Is there a way to completely remove the album field?

    Hello,
I was wondering if there was a way to completely remove the album field in itunes and my ipod/iphone. I don't care what album the songs are from and it is just one more thing for me to have to click through to get to songs. Any help is appreciated.

    No.

Why not go to Music -> Songs?
I like to search by artists and get a list of their songs.

I've got some data in the "relationship" fields on the majority of my contacts. "father", "spouse", etc... they don't show up on the iPhone but they are clearly visible in AddressBook.
    Ideas?

Only certain fields are mapped for syncing. Relationship is one of the fields that is in the address book that does not exist on the iphone so it does not sync. There are other examples like anniversary in Y address book.

What else can I say? I cannot navigate with Firefox filling my entire desktop screen on my I-Mac computer, and this makes preparing for the classes I teach tomorrow very difficult!

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).

How can I Print the next 4 or 5 weeks from iCal in month view (not simply complete months).
I'd like to print the next (up an coming) weeks of my calendar from iCal in month view - The idea is to get this information on 1 sheet of A4.. just like the month view.. but as far as i can see the month view only gives you current or next complete months.. The ONLY time this give me the view I want is in the first week of any given month.. the rest of the month part of the print is in the past and not enough of the up and coming weeks are shown?

My understanding is that Applecare does cover the earpods. Simply either take the faulty ones to an Apple Store or, if that it is not convenient, contact Applecare through the Apple website.

  • Issue with turning on project 2010 / 2013 - "There is not enough memory to complete the operation. To free up available memory, close programs, projects, or windows you aren't using, and then try again."

I get the following error after the installation and configuration window of MS Project: "There is not enough memory to complete the operation. To free up available memory, close programs, projects, or windows you aren't using, and then try again."
It happens both with MS Project 2010 and 2013 on a Windows 7 desktop.
I tried installing / uninstalling Office 2010, MS Project, tried installing 32 and then 64 bit versions, clean up, disk error checker, startup changes (msconfig), anti virus, running as Windows 7 and then Windows XP compatible mode.
Nothing helps. I see this issue reported as early as 2007 version of MS projects on Microsoft forums, but I do not see any solution anywhere. Any suggestions on how to fix the issue without having to reformat hard drive? Every other application, including
all other Office programs work seamlessly.
I also tried Microsoft support, after an hour and a half of basically doing what I did before, I was told I have to pay 99$ for "premium" support, so someone can look at this bug.
I have 16 Gb RAM and more than 200Gb or hard drive free, so actual memory is not the problem.

This issue was originally reported with MS Project 2007 and keeps popping up since.
A quick Google search provides more than 200K pages of results of this issue:
    https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=There+is+not+enough+memory+to+complete+the+operation.+To+free+up+available+memory%2C+close+programs%2C+projects%2C+or+windows+you+aren't+using%2C+and+then+try+again.
    And 193K results on Bing:
    http://www.bing.com/search?q=There+is+not+enough+memory+to+complete+the+operation.+To+free+up+available+memory%2C+close+programs%2C+projects%2C+or+windows+you+aren%27t+using%2C+and+then+try+again.&go=Submit&qs=n&form=QBLH&pq=there+is+not+enough+memory+to+complete+the+operation.+to+free+up+available+memory%2C+close+programs%2C+projects%2C+or+windows+you+aren%27t+using%2C+and+then+try+again.&sc=0-0&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=4cb023c1fbd94ec2bba9821b095f21f2
Computer was defragged already. I run more tests, and specifically when MS Projects tries to run, it tries to take all memory, more than 300Gb, on the computer. (DropBox was running at the same time, and warned that there were no space. As soon as MS Project
stopped attempting to configure itself, everything came back to normal and the available space became available again.)
Looking through older forum posts, looks like this application tries to take "unlimited" amount of memory. Some registry fixes are mentioned potentially, but I was not able to apply them.
Since everything else works, this is a MS Project bug reported by multiple users on various versions of Windows, including Vista and 7, so please provide a fix and not 'not a know bug' lie. All the premium support will say, is to format the hard drive, unless
they have a patch or a registry edit solution. If the latter is true, since the issue exists for multiple years, it should have been already been provided to users.
Also, I am not running a SQL server, or any server, this is an installation on a local machine.

In the past I have always been able to adjust the memory of each individual application,
my Adobe Illustrator CS5 appears that is doesn't have enough memory to complete a particular project.
How do I boost the amount of memory that Illustrator uses so I can complete my project?

With OS X, it automatically allocates RAM and it can't be allocated manually.
What model Mac do you have and what OS X version is it running. Your profile shows a PowerMac and OS 10.6.8. A PowerMac can't run OS 10.6.8. It's max OS is 10.5.x
How much RAM is installed in your Mac? You need to max out the RAM and close other open apps if you are having problems with Illustrator.

  • Not enough memory to complete the operation-how do i eliminate the error?

    HI All,
I have posted the questions before in this forum, but as i am not able to cure the problem i am posting it again.
I have  a large database oriented application to plot graph.Almost one year back given the application to the user.
They were not getting any problem before. But now the user is telling they are getting an error message-"not enough memory to complete the operation".The same application is running in one of our pcs also. But here no problem.
Tried  to change the vitual memory setting in the user's pc by setting to system managed size.
But still getting the same error.
Why the same application running finely in one pc and resulting some error in another pc?
Except that they are getting the error message the application is running properly(ie,except that they are getting the error they are able to plot the graph.)Is there any work around for this?Atleast is there any way to hide the error message?

    Hi user_1,
no, you can't hide that error message.
It seems you are dealing with very big data arrays (kind of duplicate posting). Please read the knowledge base article on memory efficient programming!
The "not enough memory" occurs when LabView has to create a data copy and doesn't get the memory needed for. The only (?) way to avoid this is efficient programming!
When you increase the memory available in the PC the error will only occur later!

repair, you know all the usual.
Note I borrowed the steps below from another thread that was never answered.

I located a solution, finally!  It was solved back in 2007. It is NOT a memory issue nor a conflict with other software as most of the forum advisers suggest. It is a pure MICROSOFT problem with Registry permissions. And as they provide no solution
(as of 2014 yes 7 years) one has to use a registry hacking tool to take command  of the registry. The solution that worked perfectly for me is located here :

I need to put the VI into a biger VI but it always give me the same error " not enough memory to complete this operation". is any one have a way around it. becuse I need 200,000 point to complete this operation.

    Hi engomar,
well, it could reduce memory footprint a little. You still have additional buffer allocations in your snippet as you can easily check using the Tools->Profiling menu item!
2pi and "0"-constant set to SGL as well…
With 50k as loop count the VI still needs ~440MB…
Why do you need such a big array? Can't you work with smaller array(s)/subsets?
    Edit:
After looking at your VI: so you want to do some math on the big array created before in combination with 6 other big arrays? Do you really think by setting that exp-array to complexSGL will help in any case?
    Please rethink your algorithm!
Work with smaller subsets of all your arrays!

  • This operation can't be completed because the item is in use.

I have been researching this for months and no one seems to have an answer, lots of discussions but never a result.
1 - I have a MacBook Pro running Lion (I tried it with Leopard too)
2 - I have an external Iomega raid drive which is being used as a server (2T) attached to it via firewire. (Files are added and taken off daily with no problems via the network)
3 - I have a new 4T external drive attached to the same MacBook Pro via firewire. (new drive with no files on it, it's the second drive I have tried)
4 - I want to back up all the files on the Iomega raid drive onto the new 4T drive.
    Simple! except it isnt, the problem is as follows;
1 - I can transfer some files, sometimes lots, sometimes not, but never enough. If I am dragging say 200mg with folders with files in it sometimes works, but I need to transfer 2TB of data and anything of a sensible amount just comes back with 'this operation can't be completed because the item xxxx is in use', which it is not.
2 - Every time I get the message it comes back with a different file thats in use, but the file 'is not' in use, nothing is in use.
    I have tried many things
    1 - changed the OS
2 - changed the drive I'm transfering on to.
    3 - changed the cables
4 -  restarted all the machines
    5 - used a different machine
6 - changed to list view (read that that can be an issue)
7 - changed to AFP in system settings
8 - checked the Iomega drive (all fine)
We have been using the Iomega drive as a server for a few years and have had no problems (hundreds of individual files going on and off daily), but it has always haunted me for not backing up the files. But when I try to do it I get this issue, I keep then ignoring the issue as the drive is working fine but I simply cant back it up. However, I have had enough now, I have read a lot of forums discussing this issue, but no one seems to be able to resolve it. I need to back up the data, I have bought 2 different hard drives, changed the cables and updated the OS, I have paid for further cover for the Iomega drive but they don't know whats wrong but say the drive is fine. I have run out of ideas
Anyone have any suggestions before I go crazy??
    Thanks
    Joe

I see no one has addressed this issue. I'm having the same problem but no one seems to have an answer. Did you ever get this issue resolved Joe?

Is there a way to make an audio clip not cover the whole project in iMovie? I want to add audio clip or song and let it start at a certain point in the project. Whenever I add audio or song it covers the whole project. I'm working with iMovie on IPad!

Thank you for your reply Karsten but unfortunately this didn't help me so far. Or maybe I'm missing something?
First the link is a tutorial for iMovie on a Mac. I'm using iMovie on iPad so the steps are inapplicable.
Second it is only possible for me to manipulate the end part of the sound clip to whichever duration I want. But I can't do the same with the 'beginning' of the sound clip.
I simply want to place some photos in the beginning of my video with no sound in the background then after like 2 secs I want to start the music clip. For some reason that is not possible! Cause every time I drop the music clip unto my project timeline it automatically place it self along with the first frame in the project! And consequently the photos and music are forced to start together.
    Hope I'm making sense...
