Hello, i urgently require to speak to a real person about problems paying my bill, i am out of work and my brother just lost his job without a final paycheck so for the rest of this month we have no funds and as such are unable to pay the bill, or my rent or my water rates etc. you cannot explain this to a damned automated service. i spent well over an hour caling BT in a vain attempt of speaking with a real person to try get it all explained. so please tell me how i can avoid all that useless malarky and speak to someone who can actually help

  • T400 network cable unplugged even actually it's plugged

    Hi guys,
    I got a network cable unplugged issue from last week on my T400 laptop. No matter the network cable is plugged or not, it always report network is unplugged, and the two lights (green & yellow) at the side of the network cabel socket is always on even if the cable is unplugged. Plugging the same network cable to antoher laptop, no issue on network access.
    Here are what I have tried:
    1) upgraded the device driver (intel pro) to latest one, does not help;
    2) Tried the repair function, but failed;
    3) tried to restore to a point which is one week earlier than the date it stop working. did not fix the issue;
    4) changed the Intel pro to 100Mb full deplex, does not work; but when change to 10MB full duplex, some web pages are accessible, but the data download is always stopped after a while. However, these two days this setting could not access web page any more. It keep acquiring IP address and always says no connection.
    5) With Ubuntu 8.1, shows same issue.
    I also tried the wireless to see whether can accesss the network, it even could not turn on. is the wireless and ethernet on same hardware card? now both wired and wireless out of work.
    Please help to advise the possible causes, solutions or how to diagnose further, thanks very much,

    Depending on the type and model of the router it is able to switch the ethernet ports to power save-mode.
    Some combinations "Thinkpad vs router" do have problems with it. Disable the powersave - mode for the ethernet port(s) in the router-configuration and try again.

  • SAD Service: How do you actually get to speak to a support rep on the phone???

    I'm trying to reach a support rep and the pathetic service keeps disconnecting but at least it's nice enough to "thank me for calling Verizon...Goodbye".  I have questions about my plan and I'm told it's now owned by Frontier...and god forbid someone from Verizon who I've been a customer of for a long time but I guess it turns out I'm not any longer.  Congratulations Verizon, even though I guess I'm no longer you customer you've lost my business anytime in the future. 

    You know I am feeling the same way about Verizon.
    We have been loyal customers with Verizon for nearly 12 years and have averaged a monthly spend of approximately $500 per month for that entire period. Recently I found out that someone in there Credit Department had turned our account over to a Collection Agency who has been hounding us 24/7. Our account has been linked to the same AMEX account which elctronically billed every month so its impossible to become delinquent. Well come to find out after getting through to the Credit Department our account was indeed turned over for phone numbers not linked to our account and not even in the same area code. What's worse is the Credit Manager advised me that once they turn the account over to a Collection Agent they can no longer help us. Despite the fact that it is their error. So I ask them "so what do I do to resolve your error"
    DEAD SILENCE! and then I am sorry Sir but we can no longer help you! Really!
    Verizon Wireless will now lose our business account, personal cells and our land line business.
    Its hilarious that they send out e-mails asking for how they are doing and if they can provide us with any service. I was dumb enough to respond twice believing that someone would forward this same response to someone that may be able to get involved.........................NOT
    We need small regional suppliers and small business owners that can actually service the customer and not become so large that they dont have the ability to service there customers.!

    Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to ask Apple a question directly either over chat or email? The reason I ask is I am based in the UAE and called Apple here and they refused to help me as I didnt buy my phone from the online store and told me to contact the shop I bought it from.
    The trouble is this is NOT a problem with the phone its iCloud or it happened after upgrading to iOS 6, but some contacts which were on my phone are no longer displaying in 'My Contacts' however when I type the number in manually they appear. They are also listed in my Whatsapp contacts so I know they are no my phone.
    I have also tried checking for them on iCloud.com however they are not there either. I have also gone to contacts Groups to make sure it says display all contacts which it does.
    The biggest question here is I had this problem on my 3Gs and have just got the iPhone 5 and the same issue has happened here?!?!

    Still no email address, Ive been through the various options so many times but no one to contact and I cant call the guys in the UAE as they wont speak to me.

    Here is a scenario. Take an artist like Jose Gonzalez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4_4abCWw-w&feature=fvw Is GB a capable enough environment to record and process music like this and perhaps even host the necessary mastering plugs to finish?
    I have seen many comments about when it would be right to step up to Logic and they mainly revolve around needing something perhaps like the comping feature for example. These are aids in time saving and for rescuing imperfect takes. However, is there anything inherently wrong or uncommercial or amateurish in believing that GB is all I need to record and produce my self funded independent commercial release?

    For the most part, I think the answer is no. There are always exceptions, and GB can do a lot, but the exceptions in which people have used GB to fully produce a released album are statistically rare for legitimate reasons.
    Someone brought up the Springsteen album made on a cassette as an example that you don't need professional gear to make a professional album. That's true if you're, you know, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN! Ravel wrote the melody for Bolero on a napkin, I believe. Does that mean napkins are sufficient for notating music and musicians should abandon staff paper?

    I love GB, use it, advocate its use, praise it to the high heavens.
    GB is revolutionary and democratizing.
    But the features in GB don't reach into the kind of pro features necessary to produce a typical commercial release.
    Not that GB isn't a great starting point, and I think a number of artists do just that. Start in GB, but the tracks are then imported into a more full featured digital audio workstation where they can be more adequately mixed.
    Somewhat motivated by this thread, I tried to produce a song this past weekend entirely in GB. I plugged expensive hardware into it - high end mics, preamps, compressors, etc. So it sounded pretty good.
    The wall I hit was when I needed to edit. I need to edit some parts together and couldn't really do it without Logic's more precise editing tools, cross fading, etc. The machine I was using didn't have Logic on it, so I was all intent on staying in GB, but the song was hobbled by lack of a more complete feature set. Of course, maybe if the song didn't need those edits I wouldn't have hit a wall, but it did.
    I also didn't have the plugins that I normally have in Logic available, and they would have helped. I suppose someone could invest in a lot of plugins and use them in GB, although most people who make the plugin investment would already upgrade to Logic because it makes economic sense - Logic is a bargain considering everything it comes with before you'd start adding 3rd party plugs. So it'd be weird to have, say, a thousand dollars worth of plugins and still be on GB. But I suppose you could do it... but still... you'd be missing all the editing and mixing features of Logic which are a level of magnitude more robust than GB.

    People can produce fantastic work in GB and, as an empty vessel, if you fill it up with top grade music, that's what matters most. But if you're serious about releasing your music above a certain threshold of production standards, the type of tools that come with Logic, ProTools, Digital Performer, Cubase, etc. start to get fairly essential fairly quick.
    It's not a stigma. If you can do it in GB, if anything, that's kind of cool. But try asking this question in the Logic forum and see what kind of answers you get from musicians who regularly use Logic. Seriously. See what kind of points Logic users would make to advocate bumping up to Logic if your goal is to release a commercial production.

    My limited experience has been that dynamically typed scripting languages are better for experimentation than are statically typed ones with edit-compile-link cycles.
    Also, while one could use any of Beanshell, Rhino, etc for java scripting, I've gotten to actually like jython's pseudodode-like sytnax. Its semantics are sometimes less than desirable (I prefer that of Ruby), but I think it has a great balance of clarity vs expressiveness. All that, and I find it has powerful libraries of its own--especially for Internet manipulation.
    Do try jython, and stick with it for 2 weeks; you may get to like it a lot as well.

    As I said, check the Apple Store site where you placed your order, in their help section there should be contact information.  I only gave the USA number as an example (or if you were in the USA).
    Oh, or, if you mean you ordered while in the US and are not there now - sorry, I don't know what else to offer.  Looking at the online US store's "contact us" section, there is only phone numbers (which, as I say, is typical of how Apple does support).

    I had had my currently running version of Firefox(v6.0.2) set up in it's preferences to automatically update when an update became available(but for it to ask me what I want to do before it installs), and about 1/2 hr. ago when I opened Firefox It prompted me that the latest version(7.0) was available and that it was strongly recommended that I install this update, so I clicked [install now], and I got the install window and it didn't actually start downloading the update; instead, it shouwed the classic "moving barber shop pole" thing on the progress indicator and never progressed to the actual download. I'll try closing and reopening Firefox, and if that doesn't work, I'll try [Pref Cleaner] and/or reset the file type settings on my MacBook using [Xupport].

    I suggest you start your own thread, and copy any error messages that you see into that new question. My firefox 7.o has recently updated without problems to firefox 7.0.1 (Other than as I mentioned in another thread, maybe I did not see the expected release info page for the new point release version - I sought it out manually)

  • My iphone 4 doesn't do anything! it is even not possible to recover phone via itunes. The batt is definitely fully loaded.

    My iPhone 4 is suddenly dead. It doesn't do anything. It had start up problems the past two day's, but now, it is dead. If I connect it with iTunes, iTunes tells me, it found a phone in recovery mode and I have to restore ist. But that doesn't work either... What can I do??

    First, we're all users here on this forum, not Apple, so making stupid threats like "I'm ready to just throw it in the trash and get a Samsung Galaxie II" goes nowhere and makes you look foolish.  We actually don't really care what device you use.
    With regard to your problem, you will need to put your device in recovery mode (search this forum for instructions) to restore your phone.  Your phone will be restored as a new device and all your data on it will be wiped.

  • I'm having trouble adjusting how my voice is heard on a call.  I'm told it sounds distant and low, soft spoken, even when i purposely speak loudly.

    How can I adjust the way others hear me on the phone?  I've adjusted the volume controls and no change for the listener.  Is it because of where the microphone is located?

    There is one setting in the S5 which can make a small different in the way your voice will be heard to the person on the receiving end. This setting was never created to adjust your voice sound in any way (that is all handle in the carrier’s own network) but does offer some control effect.
    1. Go to settings
    2. Then tap Sound
    3. Scroll down to Call and tap.
    4. Locate Noise reduction and if you check this box it will suppress some breath sounds and background noise in your talking area.
    When this box is unchecked however it also will allow a slight increase in your voice input but at the possible cost of more noise pickup. Your base audio is controlled by your phone and the network and can't be changed as posted. When using my own S5 with this setting on, I have been told by callers that my voice was clear while on the Verizon Network. In the off position they reported and I have recorded a somewhat stronger voice but with a very small hiss sound in the background.

  • How do you deal with VZW's unfair business practices and speak to a real person?

    Has anyone else had issues with VZW's form of help in what they refer to as a "loyalty program."  I have been with VZW for about 15 years now and have been attending college for the past three years.  When I called and waited what seemed an eternity for customer service, the scripted customer service on the other end offered me what seemed to be the perfect "loyalty program" plan for me.  I rarely talk on my phone and at $70+ a month, I was feeling a bit taken advantage of.  The plan was $35/month but my minutes were greatly reduced, not that I was worried.  What they failed to mention was that nights and weekends were no longer included in my plan, as well as holidays; they would all be charged for from then on.  I found this out when I received my first bill ($135) and it was through the roof (December and holiday calls.)  When I called in and waited...and waited again, they told me that they would look into it and adjust it.  This never happened, and I called again.  And waited, and waited....when I talked to someone that time they told me they would take care of it.  They took care of the bill part, but not the plan itself.  You could imagine my surprise when my next bill came and it was even higher than the last (235.)  More research showed that they were charging me for VZW to VZW calls as well.  Three more attempts to talk to a manager concerning this issue, not to mention the waiting.  I then received a call from a "manager" who proceeded to speak to me in a condescending tone, blamed me for the issue, and no short called me a liar.  Did I fail to mention that "they" told me that my bill was adjusted to $140 just to tell me it was $235? 
    My time spent with VZW is now over six hours, yet my frustration is immeasurable.  Now I am receiving automated phone calls concerning my bill with no option to speak to anyone.  I don't feel like I should have to spend more time waiting....and literally, waiting to talk to somebody.  I want to pay my bill but feel that it is not what I was presented, nor would I ever have agreed to had I been given the information.  If I cannot come to a mutual agreement with VZW, I am willing to change carries.  Can anyone help? 

    Verizon has by far the worst customer service of any other carrier available. They make it near impossible to contact anyone. I guess they keep you on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes just so you will get fed up and hang up. All be it they have a very good coverage area, however it does not include my home in Oklahoma nor does it include y current job assignment in South Africa. So Verizon has a solution, pay for a service I cannot use. I have tried to suspend the phone indefinitely but that too has become a big issue. I check weekly expecting an underhanded maneuver on their part and sure enough they slipped it in. Verizon is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a service provider. I cannot believe I have been with them since 2008. In Mexico y bills were through the roof, $700 to $1000 a month. When I cam back from Ukraine they tried their suttle sales ad actually sold me a new subscription that would take away my old data package ad a phone that I could not use overseas, they will not unlock more than 1 phone in a 10 month period ad since I just had my phone unlocked the new phone could not be unlocked. Verizon will bend you over at every opportunity they can fine. As soon as my lawyer gets this settled I will never use nor will I ever refer anyone to Verizon again. My suggestion, cut your losses because I assure you they will continue to offend you, and find another service. Verizon is just plain not worth the trouble. Want an idea of how they monitor this community forum. They tell their own people to respond to the more frictional posts and insult the authors. Just read them, you can see this a mile away.

    you need to use standard headphones (ie without a mic), not a headset. actually, this is mentioned in the instruction manual. but the photo on the packaging is quite misleading, since it depicts headphones that look like the iphone headset (which does not work). ;-)
    btw - some adapters do not work either. see manual.

    Count me as another frustrated by lack of Adobe support.  For a start, Adobe seems to have two separate support sites for Elements - this one, and the other one at http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family  which only serves to dilute the support that any customer can find, and doubles the effort of reporting any issue.
    Amonth ago I reported my crash in PSE 12 Slideshow in both places and have had no reply from Adobe staff. I feel foolish for having splashed out $80 on upgrading my PSE 9 and ending up with fewer of the functions that I use.

    The native VLAN is simply tagged to all traffic on a trunk link that does not already have an 802.1q tag.  Some people use this for security purposes setting the native VLAN to a VLAN that is shutdown/disabled so untagged traffic essentially gets dropped.  Another application of where I've seen native VLANs used is on access point trunk ports where the management VLAN is set to native so the AP gets an IP address from it.
