Is it fair that apple make your device out of date

It really is not right that apple can make your device outdated when there is nothing wrong with it.
I have 2 ipads ones, 1 ipad two,  1 iphone four, 1 iphone two, and 1 ipod touch two.
The Ipod touch and the iphone 2 work fine but are becoming more and more useless because nearly all apps are incompatible. 4
why cant you download older versions of the apps that are compatible with your device?
I always update to the latest operating software that it will "allow" but this only out dates the devices as you can't update to an iOS system that is compatibles with most apps, Most apps will not upload to old iOS even though i am on the most update one i can get.
This is apples way of making you buy new devices and making yours obsolete!! not fair, not right!
I want to download BBC iplayer, a basic everyday app but this is incompatible, i can go on Safari but this defeats the object of the apps.
COME ON APPLE i am a good customer not happy, will all my many other devices soon be "made" out of date and obsolete soon?

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
Regarding update the iPa 1, the iPad does not have enough memory available to the OS for a higher iOS version. While the iPad 1 and 4G iPod touch both use the same A4 processsor and 256 MB of memory, the more pixals on the iPad meands that less memory is avaialbe for the OS since the display uses system memory

Is it true that Apple is now pushing out iOS 7 updates to devices automatically and without a users’ permission?

Some people say that it has downloaded automatically when their phone is plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi, but I have left my phone and other iOS devices plugged in overnight several times since the iOS 7 release and have not experienced the same.

the computer says that my flash players is out of date so I tried to update.  The download starts by stops at 25% and will not continue.

Had the same problem (stalling at 25% or 30%).
    This worked for me:
    1.     Reboot computer or use Activity Monitor to force quit any prior Adobe Flash installation process that may be still running
    2.     Download Adobe Flash update using this link (assuming you are using Safari or Firefox): Flash Player for Safari and Firefox - NPAPI
    3.     Mount flash player by clicking on flash drive icon on desktop
    4.     Right click on Flash file
    5.     Choose 'Show Package Contents'
    6.     Open 'Contents' then 'Resources'
    7.     Run file 'Adobe Flash Player.pkg'

    Hello
Recently, I asked about the possibility to swap from windows to mac with Adobe Design Standard CS5.5. In response, I was directed to the help page and i know that it is possible. But today I see that the help page is out of date.
How cann I now swap platforms for Adobe Design Standard CS5.5? Do I realy need to buy CS6? Or afer dowloading the mac version of CS5.5 I get the key. And if I realy need upgreade the CS5.5 cann I use the Mac version of CS6 for the dowloaded mac version of CS5.5? Is it possible?

    Thanks !
I didn't know that I cann buy CS6 Mac upgrade in Adobe Store.
So I have only to buy the CS6 Mac versions and upgrade CS5.5 Win to CS6 Mac?
    How does look the procedure?
Do I need to install first the CS5.5 Mac on my Macbook and then upgrade it or is it not necessary?
    Thanks

  • Does removing a configiration profile make your device safe

There's a app called something like icons and it can make a short cut
Of the app but a different icon . Ok that sounds nice but it asks to install a profile
So if you remove a profile will it take all the stuff that it has. Cause I'm afraid you can
Get malware like other sites said.

Elitegate. wrong again. Some apps do install a configuration profile on an iPod
    Elitegate wrote:
Note: The App is nothing without the profile. You can't install a custom theme through an App - the App needs the profile.
I did this once and my iPod got kinda slow and i deleted the profile. But its good that you uninstalled both.
So, no you don't need to worry. You only need to worry if you jailbreak your iPod or install a profile (Jailbreaking is like installing custom profiles on your devices) - so stay away from that.
In a profile can be malicious things too. But without those things you don't have too worry because there exists no viruses and malware for original not modified iOS devices.

  • Where will you keep your device's private data?

    Hi:
It seems we have 3 choices to keep a device's private data:
    1. call ddi_soft_state_zalloc and store private data in the allocated structure.
    2. allocate a block of kernel memory and call ddi_set_private_data with pointer to this memory.
    3. allocate a block of kernel memory and set gldm_private to point to this area (for gld only).
Could you please tell me which one you prefer and the reason for your choice?
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Steven

I had the 6 for a couple months and it fit in my cup holder but the plus does not and so I will either keep it on my lap or in this small space in between the cup holder and the middle console.  I used to have a suction cup holder for my IPhone but it was too hard to keep grabbing it and replacing it whenever I'd receive a text message so I did away with that.  I saw a phone mount at the bestbuy the other day but I can't recommend it.  Have you considered turning on the handicapped assistance function where it will read to you what a text message says when it comes through or it will alert you of the caller when the phone rings?  It may compromise some privacy if you are in your vehicle with others or become annoying as you have to turn it off and on when you get in and out of your car but that way it'll allow you to keep your phone either in a pocket, purse, wallet, etc etc without having to look at it to see who's trying to reach you.

  • Message for Apple - sort your act out !

just got the new 3g iphone. dissapointed
sort out the bluetooth or this will be the first and last apple product i buy.
wha kinda of company manufactures a brand new phone in 2008 with no fully functioning bluetooth ????
me thinks i should have stuck with a nokia !

mr annoyed... are their any specific "fully functional bluetooth" issues you're having or features missing?
Apple has an iPhone feedback for your request. They don't read nor take complaints here.
If you're thinking about stereo bluetooth and filesharing via bluetooth, it's been widely known for over a year now that the iPhone software cannot do that. A future software update may or may not change that.
If your major concern is the bluetooth issue, you're probably off with another cell phone.

I have Mac OS X 10.4.11 and use Firefox. I keep getting a message that QuickTime 7.6.6 plug in is out of date. I have done the software update and it shows no current updates available. Certain videos won't play and it says that this may make my computer vulnerable. Any suggestions?

Are you using the lastest version of Firefox for os 10.4.11?  If you are, start using TenFourFox.  Quicktime works just fine with that browser.

  • After "updating" it still tells me that my Flash Player is out of date.

    Hello,
I'm hoping you can help. My MacBook notified me to update my Flash Player. However, After I did complete the update it still says Flash Player Out of Date. Can you please help me?

For some reason my Flash Player just started working. I had tried about 5 times to install it each time at the end it said my flash player is out of date. Suddenly it changes? Something is very strange about that.

  • Keep getting messages in Facebook that my Adobe player is out of date.  Is this an Adobe problem or a Facebook problem?

I have tried to update Adobe player severl times.  Each time the install seems to work, but when I try to play a movie on Facebook I still obtain a message that Adobe Player is out of date???  Anyone have any ideas what is going on here???

I've seen a RASH of posts in the Adobe Flash Player forums since the 2/4/2014 update, especially with Snow Leopard.
I put together a PDF with detailed, illustrated instructions to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" and/or the "Out of date" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe, or on pages like Facebook.
Use the FULL installer for 12.0.0.44:  Flash Player 12 (Mac OS X)
And the instructons are here: Snow Leopard Clean Install.pdf

  • ITunes Stopped Working - Apple Pull Your Finger Out And Fix It Please!!!

Okay so this is a similar story to hundreds I have seen.
The other day I opened iTunes (7.0.2) Which has been working fine for years (Obvioously with previous versions).
It opened up and began doing some kind of scan, then closed with the error "iTunes has enocountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconconvenience"
Firstly I figured I might have a corrupted file. So I deleted my iTunes library from my docs and opened iTunes again. It opened fine with no music in there. I added 1 single random file and it immediatley came up with the same error and closed.
Also Quicktime will no longer work, if I double click a Quicktime movie it opens, but when I click play it closes again.
    I have done the following:
    1) Fully scanned for viruses, spyware etc... my system is always well protected and nothing was found.
    2) De-frag, disk scan, registry cleanup and even a roll back to 1 week ago when it worked (which didn't make it work!)
    3) Completely removed iTunes & Quicktime, and related codecs and registry entries and re installed latest versions.
    4) Completeley removed iTunes, Quicktime, and related codecs and registry entries and installed older versions.
    5) Installed latest iTunes with an older Quicktime and vice versa.
    6) Followed every single step in every related post on this board from people with the same issue.
Nothing at all works. Right now I have the latest Quicktime and iTunes installed fresh, with no music in my library. If I add even one song it crashes. Quicktime crashes as soon as you press play.
Every other media player on my system works fine and all of my music plays fine in Media Player.

I had a similar experience to you. After reading the various postings on the discussion board, I gave up trying to fix 7.0.1 (or later 7.0.2) and went back to 6.0.5.
I do not have a Nano, so I cannot tell you whether 6.0.5 will work with the Nano or not. However, it works relatively well with my 30 gig video iPod.
I do still have a few problems such as some podcasts (not all) cause the ipod to crash (but there is a manual fix for this problem - see this link for info: http://jimsrandomwalk.blogspot.com/2006/10/ipoditunes-update-is-flop.html)
My feeling on this is that the Apple engineers are not blind to the fact that there are problems. However, until the problems rise to the level of causing Apple some market problems, they don't have to worry about the small percentage of us who have these problems. I will not be buying any iTunes until this all gets worked out.
Good luck with resolving your problems.
See my earlier post on this thread for info on how to go back to an earlier version of iTUnes.

  • When I go into full screen mode in Safari 5.1 on LION it switches to a new Space, making my other displays useless. Anyone else annoyed that Apple has completely left out those with multiple displays?

I had a fear that this was going to be the case, but you can't have two full screen apps open in two different displays. At least that's how Safari fullscreen works. When switching over to full screen mode in safari, it automatically creats a new space, turns on four finger gesture to swipe through full screen apps which I had turned off in place of App Switcher.
I don't use spaces because of the lack of support for using spaces with multiple displays. I would use spaces and mission control if I had control of each display's mission control separately.
The fix would be to unlink the displays so they can scroll through full screen apps by themselves. I want this feature so I can mix and match the full screen apps on my three different displays. I see this beneficial for more people with multiple displays. in the future when thunderbolt display links, people will want better support too.
I know I would use spaces and mission control more if I could have this ability. I'd be interested to know people's opinion.

No no, if you read what I said, it would be that each individual display would be customizable to the user. The way you have it, it sounds like your second display will be dedicated to scrolling through fullscreen apps not allowing you to do it on the home screen. This is silly because with my concept, you could do that, by dragging apps to fullscreen in your second display, but if you want you could tell another display to scroll through fullscreen apps (independently) if you wanted. Each display will have it's own mission control with it's own set of desktops. I also can see how some people would still want them linked together, so this could just be a little check box made in mission control prefs to "link" or "unlink" desktops with link checked by default.
With your solution you're limited to your setup. but what if the person has three or four displays? Well then your solution would limit them to one dedicated display that scrolls through fullscreen apps where mine lets a person customize their desktops depending on their preference and setup.
further example: if you have safari, address book and mail in one display, you could still have ichat, PS and Illustrator in your second, and a text editor, FTP Client and iTunes in your third. Then you would mix and match these apps but it would promote the use of mulitple displays as well as benefit people with three or more, which thunderbolt, Cinema Display and Pro computers support.

  • Need to make swap device out of disk slice

    Hello,
I have inhereted a problem with one of our Solaris 9 machines. When it was set up, we did a custom filesystem layout (always have). The tradition is to put / on slice 0, and swap on slice 1 with a space roughly 2 times the physical memory space.
However, I goofed, and put /swap instead of just "swap". So now, it has a / filesystem, a /swap filesystem, and no swap device!
    # swap -l
    No swap devices configured
    # df -k
    /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0    3328137 3052914  241942    93%    /
    /proc                      0       0       0     0%    /proc
    mnttab                     0       0       0     0%    /etc/mnttab
    fd                         0       0       0     0%    /dev/fd
    swap                  332384     168  332216     1%    /var/run
    swap                  332352     136  332216     1%    /tmp
    /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1     768721       9  714902     1%    /swap(ignore the /newsdir, it's on another disk)
I have added swap space before using 'mkfile' and 'swap -a' before, but what I want to do is blow away the /swap partition and re-format (if necessary) and re-mount as a regular swap partition.
This server is in production (yikes!), so any helpful hints that don't involve downtime would be appreciated.
I'm going to assume I need to edit vfstab and run the format command at LEAST, but I'm not entirely sure of the correct method.
    TIA,

    You're ok here.
Simply unmount the /swap file system, edit /etc/vfstab and change swap to point to this location like normal. Then you should able to swap -a on it I think. I reboot might be necessary - not sure as I've never had to fix something like this. Once you fix /etc/vfstab, a reboot will definitely fix it :)
