  • I recentely changed my network provider from vodafone to 3, vodafone unlocked my 3gs and everything was okay until I tried updating to ios 5.1.1. itunes did a factory reset before updating the ios which locked my iphone back to my former network.

I have contacted vodafone and they say they have unlocked the phone again but when I try to synch it with itunes I just get a message saying that there is no sim card installed and to disconnect the phone, insert a sim card and try again, which I have done several times to no effect. The phone itself starts the activation process but cannot finish it saying that the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I have phoned my current provider and my former provider who were both very unhelpful really. I have tried to phone apple but hung up as they charge £25 to speak to an advisor. As I'm self employed and work outdoors all day my phone is a necessity for my business. Can anyone suggest how I can resolve this issue? Please.

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

  • Hard reset before or after update?

With v2.1 apparently being released tomorrow for the n97, i just wanted to know what's recommended, resetting before, after, or both?

I'm coping here what the Nokia update team recommended: Please see the the text in red, it says after
    Using your PC to update
Initially, this software update is only available through the Nokia Software Updater. Due to wealth of new content available in this release, the over-the-air "FOTA" packages are larger than normal (around 17MB) and to allow for sufficient testing, delivery will be slightly delayed.
Backups before updating your Nokia N97 are not essential, but to help you get the most from your new software, we recommend that you sync your device or make a backup excluding settings before updating. After the update, reset your device by keying *#7370# and enter your lock code (default = 12345). Then you can resync your device and restore your backup. Finally, visit Ovi Store to download the latest versions of your favourite applications.

  • Do I have to uninstall the CS4 software before updating the NVIDIA driver and reinstall CS4 after?

I have just installed CS4 on Windows 7 and I get the message that I need to update NVIDIA driver.
Is it really neccassary to update driver even if I have no problems using Photoshop?
Do I have to uninstall the CS4 software before updating the NVIDIA  driver and reinstall CS4 afterwards or is there a way around it?
    Here are the technical details:
    Processor speed: 3325 MHz
    Video Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Video Card Renderer: GeForce GT 220/PCI/SSE2
    OpenGL Drawing: Enabled.
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220
    Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 x 4294967296 colors
    Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll,nvwgf2um.dll
    Driver Version: 8.15.11.8627
    Built-in memory: 3063 MB
    Free memory: 1981 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 1643 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 60 %
    Image cache levels: 4

I have never had to reinstall any program for a video driver.
Now, check out the instructions for your particular nVidia driver, and the exact steps can differ. Just did my Quadro FX-4500 and it was just an install over the older driver. However, looking at another nVidia card's driver, and there were 3-4 settings in the nVidia console, that had to be reset BEFORE installing that driver. Did not affect me, but would have been a different operation for the next guy, with a different nVidia card. nVidia makes it easy with the necessary instructions - follow those to the letter, or issues can arise and the entire driver can get hosed. Things could be a simple as download, and execute, to having to do several things before you execute.
    Good luck,

    Good morning
I am trying to upgrade my iPhone via my macbook but the following message keeps coming up and the download does not work
"There are purchased items on the iPhone “Mark Price’s iPhone” that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this"
Please advise how I can transfer these files, I am not sure what files are in question.
I've only had the MacBook a couple of days, I am PC savvy but this is all new to me so please keep it as simple as possible. I am a brit based in Bahrain.
    Regards
    Mark Price

okay I've done everything regarding the transfer process (via file>transfer purchases) and syncing, so everything on my iPhone device seems to have been transferred to my iMac... however, I still get that message ("There are purchased items on the iPhone..."), trying to upgrade the iOS Have tried several times the same process of hitting transfer purchases via file, but nothing seems to make that message go away! Would have been nice to know which files I actually do need to transfer, which I don't get any info on of course...
Starting to get really annoying this thing.. Any smart suggestions what's going on?

  • I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.0.2. my wifi says its connected but doesn't work now. It doesn't matter what wifi network I connect to. It worked before updating my phone. I can no longer use facetime or use wifi at all. I'm not sure what to do to fix it.

I'm having similar issues with my phone.  I got my first iPhone recently, only had an iPod touch gen4 for a little over a year.  Updated to 6.0.2 when we got the phone (iPhone 5) a few days before Christmas.  When I got home on the evening of January 11, my phone would not connect the router anymore.  I was able to get it to connect after resetting the phone and the router, updating the router, and manually connecting.  That laste for a few minutes and then wouldn't work anymore.   I live in an area with very limited service, we have a network extender installed to help, and I am barely getting a 3G signal at times.
My wife's iPad 4, my touchiPod 4, and all of our laptops are working just fine on the router.  When I dropped my kid off at school today, I noticed that I am not even seeing the school network anymore from the parking lot where before I got 3 or 4 bars and could connect to their wifi when I was there.  Today my phone goes back and forth between seeing my home network but not connecting, to not even seeing the network at all even from the same room that the router is in.
Hope Apple fixes this problem soon..............

  • Things I would like to know before updating to KitKat

    Hi everyone,
Am new to Sony and am delaying doing the update via PCC or SUS until the bugs I have read about are sorted.  Meanwhile i have a couple of questions which I cannot find answers to.
How do I get rid of the notification I have on my phone telling me 14.3.A.0.681 is waiting? selecting 'clear' does not work.
I read about the upcoming fixes due shortly but does that mean I will need to go ahead and install the 'buggy' 14.3.A.0.681 beforehand OR will a complete new KitKat be available to replace Jellybean?
Have noted alexdon's advice of things to be aware of before updating but should the phone be on or off?
Presumably MTP needs to be activated and USB debugging on?
Generally is it wise to do a factory reset after FW update?
Sorry to ask so many questions but updating Samsung Galaxy via Kies was never straightforward so want to be prepared this time and hopefully any responses will help others too.  Thank you

You cannot get rid of the notification until you update,if you clear data for update centre it will come back.
It seems that you can wait for the next update without installing this one,but I am not sure if it will work fine when you update.
The phone must be turned on for PC companion(I updated to kitkat about 4 days ago and it needed the phone on).Sony update service needs the phone turned off because it first checks for the firmware version.
You need to have MTP enabled.
About the factory reset,it is not necessarily.I have not done factory resets and I do not encounter big problems with the KK(only the loudpeaker-earspeaker thing).Even before,on my Xperia P,I have not reseted to factory settings after each update.

  • N97 / N85 - Hard reset - Firmware update Limit ???

    Hi
Was wondering if there Is a max Limit to the numbet of times the Firmware can be updated
or the Phone can be Hard reset
before damageing the MEM Cards built into the N97 / N85

Nowhere its mentioned about the limit for reinstalling firmware updates and doing resets so with that i can say it can be done "many" times, basically its done when you encounter any problem doesn't gets resolved with other resets available, at last we resort to reinstalling firmware or Hard reset. I haven't come across any implications nor heard from anyone doing it often.
FYI N97 has a 32Gb hard drive built-in with an MicroSD slot for expansion.

    hello..

In my experience I've found that when I don't do the reset before and after I invariably have problems. For example when I updated my N97 to the v22 firmware the auto-rotate function stopped working properly.
I actually also remove all apps and format the mass storage prior to the firmware update which ends up taking a ridiculously long time with the reloading of my media and maps but I now realize that I'll end up having to do it anyway so I might as well do it properly the first time.
It could just be the N97 as it's such a hunk of junk but I think it's more likely that it's an issue with the update process in S^1.

  • Do I need to move my pictures and music from snow leopard to an extrenal drive before updating to maverick

do I need to put my pic's and music on an external drive before updating snow leopard to maveric

Not absolutely necessary but backing up the system before doing the upgrade is definitely a good idea.
Most likely everything will go OK but its always nice to have that insurance policy in case anything goes wrong.
Also be aware that once your iPhoto libraries (if that is how you have your images) are updated to the new version of iPhoto they will not be readable by the old version anymore. So if you have other systems still running the old iPhoto you will not be able to open the libraries that get updated in the old version.

  • Before update and after Update trigger

    Hi,
I am following the below approach to overcome ORA-04091: table XXXX is mutating error.
    1. In the after update row level trigger i am capturing rowids of changed rows into a table type (of type rowid) defined in a package.
    2. In the after update statement level trigger i am using the data from the table type ( that got populated in the first step) to do my work.
    3. In the before update statement level trigger i am resetting the table type defined in the package.
Now, can the below situation occur causing the system to fail
    1. A Update to the table occurred causing the before update statement level trigger to fire and reset the table type.
    2. After that row level after update trigger gets executed and captures the required data.
    3. Now before the after update statement level trigger gets executed a new update to the table happened ( to some other row as multiple users are using the application) causing the
before update statement level to fire and erase the data from the table type?
I want to know if above situation can occur or is the execution or before and after update triggers atomic?
    Thanks for helping.
    TIA
    Harsha

A collection in a package is local to the session. And a given session can be processing one SQL statement at a time. So any concurrent updates would be happening in a different session with a different logical collection.
You may encounter problems if your session is trying to update the same rows that other sessions are trying to update (whether via the original update statement or via the updates issued by the trigger). You could encounter performance problems because of row level locks or you could encounter deadlocks. But your session's collection won't be initialized by some other session's actions (other than DDL that replaced the package itself).

  • Correct the 2 problems before updating this airport wireless device

    Hi, guys.
I want to access my Time Capsule from the internet.
But i already have a router establishing my internet connnection, so i've set it to connect using Ethernet and wireless mode is off.
This setting doesn't show the "share disc over WAN" and i need that. (As far as i can tell). Therefor i have to switch the connection mode from Off (Bridge Mode) to share a public IP - this enables the "share disc over WAN" option.
But TC returns this message to me when updating the device. "Correct the 2 problems before updating this airport wireless device".
I'm confused? Cuz i thought they should mirror my Routers local IP's?
What do i do? Please help, any advice is much appreciated.

The Asus model that you mentioned is definitely a router, so it is handling DHCP services for your network.
If you have the Time Capsule set up in Bridge Mode, I cannot understand why you are getting a message about DHCP address conflicts....since DHCP is turned off when the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode.
Unless....you have tried to change some settings around manually.
It would probably be best to start over and perform a factory default reset on the Time Capsule, then configure it again. The last setting to check before you click Update would be to make sure that the setting for Connection Sharing is set to "Off (Bridge Mode)".
As far as connecting from the Internet....that's another question since everything that I've seen assumes that the Time Capsule is configured as the main router on the network. I cannot recall seeing a setup when the Time Capsule was not the main router on the network, but will check around.
