Is it illegal to download music to an ipad 2, Is it illegal to download music to an ipad 2, Is it illegal to download music to an ipad 2

Okay. ummmm....think about this for a second... The iTunes app on the device itself lets you purchase and download music right to it.  And the fact that you can sync music from your computer to it, so I think it's probably safe to assume that the answer to your question is no.

  • I used to download illegal music files from limewire, I don't anymore though, and I've since deleted them all from my iPod and will never do it again, but could I get in trouble for what I did before?

And how can I delete the illegal music files on iTunes that me and my brother used to download? Maybe I could delete or report the music files, I really love apple and I really don't want to do this illegal stuff anymore. It's really not fair to anyone and it's also wrong. (Something I somehow couldn't see when I first got my iPod back in 2009) I buy all my music from iTunes now on my iPod, and have since deleted all the data which includes all the songs from my iPod (for a while I didn't use my iPod for music, just games) I am now afraid to put the songs I purchased and downloaded on iTunes on my computer with all of the pirated music! Please help, I really just want to know overall if apple could hate me for this, and what I can do to delete all the songs from iTunes (like the ones me and my brother downloaded that he still uses, though I guess I can't control that.)
Is it just me or was I never meant to feel like an honest user? (I really want to feel like I am)

Firstly, where do I go to delete the songs from my hard drive? Can I delete them straight from iTunes?
You can delete them right from iTunes:
    - Click on the song to highlight it (select it). Alternatively, you can Control-Click on a number of songs to select them.
    - Go to Edit in the Menu bar and choose Delete (alternatively, you can Right-Click on the song and choose Delete from the pop-up menu.
    - You'll be asked "Are you sure you want to remove the selected song from your iTunes library." Click Remove.
    - Next, you'll be asked " Do you want to move the selected song to the Recycle Bin, or keep it in the iTunes Media folder?" Click "Move to Recycle Bin"
    - Empty The Recycle Bin on your desktop.
Can I delete all the illegal songs including the ones my brothers (Apparently more than one are doing this) downloaded? Would it be somehow against the rules to delete their songs even if they didn't pay for them?
It's best to talk to your brothers before deleting their stuff. Tell them how uncomfortable you feel about having 'stolen property' in your shared iTunes Library.
Could their downloading of these songs get me in trouble somehow? And lastly, should I still use iTunes on this computer if they're doing this?
If this is your computer and the Music Distributers find out through your Internet Service Provder that you/your brothers are illegally downloading/sharing music then you can get in trouble.
You can continue to use iTunes but I would really try to get this resolved with your brothers. Hope this helps and as I said earlier, you are doing the right thing by buying music legally!

  • I have the mac laptop ibook g4,and i wanted to know what music downloader can i download to get free music besides having to use itunes?

I have the ibook g4 laptop! what music downloader can i download to get free music?,so i want have to use itunes.

Given the OS X versions last supported by the old PowerPC based G4/G5 computers, there are a few players that work with music sites for OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8. I have not researched these, and many of the web sites that promise a free player or access to free music offer 'adware' laden questionable products, no matter what OS X version a Mac could run.
For just music, the Radio player in the iTunes application can give you several choices of music types, to include fairly recent songs. This will use bandwidth and there likely is no native way in the computer to capture the audio; and without a legal source, a question arises concerning illegal filesharing and the like, which is not a topic friendly to these discussions.
However there some great music channels in the Radio portion of iTunes player that do not require the store to listen to them; these are streamed from servers and you may be able to locate other streaminsg sources and add them to the iTunes Radio player.
There were some shareware or limited use utilities that could record any sounds in your Mac, including beeps, clicks and keyboard sounds. And any noises from web pages, etc. And save them. But some time has passed since I had anything like that. It was like a built-in recorder, and with a Mac microphone, even more so.
However anything software involves the limitations of your computer hardware's upper limit in OS X version. And be wary of sites with several download links that say free or download, since softonic genieo and others can install adware and other hard to remove ailment prone background software in your mac along with their promised product; and their 'uninstaller' also will add hard to remove background stuff in your mac. So does mackeeper and cleanmypc kinds of stuff. Avoid installing these along with hoped-for great promises.
Sorry to not be of much help, however anything that may
contribute to illegal file sharing is a void issue here...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Download music?

i used to own a pc and i have recently bought an ibook g4. the problem with my old pc is that i downloaded too much music off of limewire and basically killed my computer with spyware. i decided to get a mac because i have been told they dont contract as many viruses. however i have been very skeptical in downloading another music p2p such as limewire because i just dont want to risk it. is limewire safe for macs and if not is there a program similar to it i can download for music which is safer?

Even though there are absolutely no know viruses for OSX, I would have absolutely nothing to do with Limewire. Limewire is a p2p network which is frequently used for illegal file sharing, with the recording industry actively pursuing users of p2p networks, why risk it?

  • Can you download a music DVD to iTunes

I was just wondering can you download a music DVD to iTunes?

    (1) If you're talking about commercial, copyright-protected DVDs, you should be aware that it is illegal in many counties, possibly including yours.
    (2) If you're talking about commercial, copy-protected DVDs, you should be aware that providing advice on breaking copy protection schemes is illegal in the US, where this forum is based; posting such advice would break the forum's ToU, and hosting such advice would make Apple liable to prosecution.
    (3) If you're talking about DVDs which are not copy protected and whose copyright holder gave you the licence to copy them, then you may use Disk Utility. Once copied, you can play the content using DVD Player.
For common DVD, i think hanbrake can meet your needs.

  • How comes the audio files I download off a friends music page suddenly downloading as download.view and are unusable?

I have been downloading my friends music on madsonic using safari and it always work fine. Recently the downloads are showing as download.view and are inaccessible. Why?

Since the rights are forfeited by the person uploading the video, YouTube is public domain and is downloadable at will. Naturally, some of the content may be copyrighted material that the user has warranted as his/her own so the end responsibility is the downloader's and he/she may be liable if publishing the content. A note: even copyrighted material may be used by a non-profit without prejudice - but, think before you use... if it is used on a site where advertising has been sold to benefit the non-profit (or even a list of donating companies exists on the site), the content could be thought of as benefitting a for-profit agency and therefore would become an illegal use of the material.
There are several sources for public domain soundbites online and some of them filter the content, but most rely on users' honesty.
As stated in a previous reply, if you are unsure, contact the producing entity to either purchase rights or recieve permission to use.
For legal downloading of public domain .wav files it is a simple enough proposition to purchase a widely available appropriate program.

  • Music Downloading on Intel Imac

Hi, I was a happy subscriber to Napster on my old (and dead) PC, and enjoyed the option to pay 10$/month and get to listen to an unlimited amount of tracks. I know that Yahoo and Rhapsody offer similar services, but none seem to be available on the mac in Canada. Are there any other services that I don't know about? Or is there a way to get Yahoo or Napster to work on my new iMac? Other than that, I love this machine!
    Thanks

Umm last time I checked, all three of those services were 100% legal, and even SUPPORTED by music companies. I do not rip music off these networks, I pay, and get the service. I am not asking where I can get something for free, I am asking if there are similar LEGAL services available on the imac. If I wanted to be illegal, I could just download Kazaa or Limewire like everyone else!
    Thanks anyway,
    Bobby.

  • How to download music from iphone to computer

How do I download music from iphone to computer/itunes

Wjosten ... sorry to push in to this discussion ... but I have a related music question ... and thought you might be able to answer.
I know iOS does not enable audio files to be attached to text messages.  I assume this is to prevent illegal sharing of songs.  But who is actually saying 'no.'   Is it the music owners (studios and publishers) who fear they will lose control of copyrighted songs (a la Napster)?  Or is it Apple protecting the iTunes business.  Or both.  I wouldn't blame either ... they are just protecting their IP.  I'm just curious.  I wonder if the music companies suddenly decided to allow some kind of music file sharing via text messages ... would Apple (and Google) go along and enable such sharing on smartphones and devices ??

  • Can we purchase and download music from sites other than Apple?

Wife has a new iMac and wants to purchase music from a site other than my iTunes store account. She has a hefty remaining balance left over from her PC days. I logged onto that site this weekend and tried to download some music (we paid for it) and it did not download. We are very new to Mac and need some real guidance. Is it a set up thing? The music did download onto my PC laptop into zip files....any help???? Thanks

<Edited by Moderator> is a pirate Russian site and is providing tracks illegally according to the music industry. The record companies (from many countries, not just the US) have been trying to get that site and it's cousins and predecessors (this is just a retread of AllOfMP3.com) shut down for quite some time. So sorry, but we indeed cannot help you with this here.

  • How can I download music from borrowed iPod classic

I have borrowed iPod classic from family member.  I am having problems downloading all the music onto my iTunes account.  Can anyone please help.

Let's stick with the question asked:   I think it depends on who and what your relationship is to the 'family member' is and where you live.  You may be unable to download the music of your husband, wife, or domestic partner (where legal) from their account to yours but that doesn't make it illegal to assert ownership.    I may be wrong (and I doubt it), but music that is legally owned by you is legally jointly owned by you and your partner if you are married or in a legal domestic partner relationship regardless of whether Apple recognizes that relationship with their willingness or unwillingness to merge two i-Tunes accounts.   And certainly, one NEVER has to own music to LISTEN to it.
Now some will not like that answer, but I suspect they use Microsoft products, or don't buy music from i-Tunes.

I just want to know why I cant directly download music to music app in iphone specially for people outside US whose cant use itunes store ??!
I can do it in my mac why not iphone . This is a really huge mistake compare to android phones

    Hi Ferretbite
Thank you for answering me but i dont think you relize what Iam asking for
first itunes store need an American apple ID with an American credit to purchase  DIRECTLY  from iphone and this all people outside US dont have , so no one outside US and (major countries) can download  music directly from thier Iphone
Second ,  if we assume I can download from itunes , itunes store dont have all the music you need for example Iam in middle east I listen to arabic music and itunes dont have most of the arabic music I listen to  and this is a HUGE problem for all costumers in middle east and similiar countries .
Third, mac users can download music  from the internet other than itunes store  even if it illegal why that ?? and NOT all free websites are illegal  like (nogomistars) for arabic music .
I just want to say that I love my iphone and I love apple. But you should give iphone users a free using for their phones  like  you do with mac users for the reason that i gave it you above .
Sorry for the long reply tc

  • Downloading music to a gift ipod

Someone gave my husband a video ipod as a gift. It is already configured and has music on it. Can I download our music collection onto it without losing what was originally on it?

It is probably illegal for you to keep the content that was on the iPod before your husband received it. Almost all music is copyrighted material and sharing it this way is stealing. Sorry.
    Please don't steal music.
    Cheers!
    -Bryan

  • How to download such as music or movies on websites ?

Im using Macbook pro OS X
I really need to download movies online but it said i must have softwares like internet download manager or torrent to download the files.
If anyone know about this please help me asap?
please provide me some forums to learn more about Apple devices
    thanks alot

Let me give you an example.  You can steal clothes from a store, but you would get in trouble, so you buy them with money.  Same thing with music and movies.  You can steal them from illegal file sharing websites, but most people buy them with money, so they don't get in trouble.  Also, downloading that "free" movies and music from torrent websites can infect your macs system with malware and cause you a big headache.  It is not worth it.  Some websites will let you download a "featured" song or movie clip and that is not illegal.  iTunes usually releases a free song and tv episode every once in awhile that you can download for free and that it ok to do also.

  • Downloading music to pla

    Hello all,
Maybe someone out there can help me. I am a non-techy (actually a Luddite by nature) so please excuse my inability to express myself in ways that are normal many of you folks out there. I have not bought a Creative player as yet and am still recovering from the post traumatic syndrome of having recently purchased and returned an Archos player. I am thinking of ordering a Creative Nomad JUkebox Zen Xtra 30 or 40gb player My question is, "What music files can you download into this sort of machine?" Though my Archos claimed to play MP3, WMA, and WAV formats, when I attempted to download the WMA files stored in the Windows Media Player in my computer into it, it displayed a do not recognize file message. When I asked various sources why this was the case, it was explained to me (in ways that I still do not completely understand) that it had to do with licensing. This is a mystery to me since I had obtained all these files legally, either by purchasing them from on line sources or ripping them from my own CDs. Will I run into the same problem with the Creative Lab player? Does anyone understand my question. Or am I so backwards I can't even explain the problem.
    Thanks,
    Harvey

Others will go into this in more detail I'm sure, but basically it goes like this: WMP as well as Creative Media Source give you the option of "protecting" music files. It's nuts because, since you are not the artist or record lablel, you have nothing to gain by protecting them and, as you have discovered, something to lose, in that it limits what you can do with them. In WMP the on/off checkbox for protecting files can me found by selecting: Tools>Options>Rip Music>Protect Files (checkbox).
Ironically, the music you purchased completely legitamately on line will be protected and therefore unusable in some players. Had you acquired these same files from an illegal or dodgy site they would be usable. Many of my legal downloads came from Napster and are protected out the wazoo, but I have still been able to transfer them to my Zen Micro--dunno why.
PS. Olley was posting the same time I was, so now I know why.
