Is it illegal to share your purchased apps with your friends?

My cousin and I are having an argument.

Yes, it is illegal.
You do not purchase a license to distribute the software to anyone else.  Same is true of music.

They will have to be answered the first time when purchasing from a new computer or device.

  • If I purchased apps with one Itunes account (hotmail) can I convert the apps to an Itunes (ME) account?

I purchased apps with one Itunes account (hotmail).  I then changed my account sign-in to a different email sign-in (ME) because of iCloud.  Can I easily convert the apps to an Itunes (ME) account when an update for each app occurrs?

Did you change your existing iTunes account or did you create a new account ? If you updated the existing account then you should be ok.  But if you created a new account, then as apps are tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded them and they can't be copied or transferred to a different account, only that original account will be able to download any future updates to them or re-download them on a different device.

  • Recently I have not been able to purchase songs from my iTunes on my iPhone 5, but I can purchase apps with no issues.  Has anyone else had similar problems??

Recently I have not been able to purchase songs from my iTunes on my phone, but can purchase apps with no issue.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?

If this is an Alienware system, the most likely culprit is the Bigfoot Networks LSP as per the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
Head to the Downloads and Drivers page at Dell for your particular model of Alienware. Look for available updates for your BigFoot networking device. If you update those drivers, does that give you back your Store access?

  • Can I share a paid app with another iPad in my family

Can I share a paid app with another family member

the key to sharing apps is that they all have to be on the same Apple ID. So if you have the same Apple ID on all the devices, they can share apps.
You may want to research into messages, etc because that can be one of the pitfalls of sharing the ID's.

  • How can I share my purchased content with my grand kids on their new iPad?

I purchased a lot of videos and games for my grand kids on my iPad.  I just gave a new iPad Air for Christmas to my daughter and son-in-law and I want to share all that content with my two grand babies (sync it on their new iPad) so they can enjoy it anytime.  We're not sure if my daughter and son-in-law should set up their new iPad under my own Apple ID or if there's a way for us to sync the shared content on their new iPad under their own new Apple ID.

yes, if you activate home sharing
Also, you could sync your kids iPod Touch to your iTunes.

  • TS1702 How do I hide purchased apps with iOS 6? With iOS 5 you can swipe the unwanted app to hide it, but this doesn't work with iOS 6.

How can I hide an app from the list of purchased apps using iOS6? With iOS 5 you can swipe the icon to display a red Hide icon, but this doesn't work with iOS 6. Suggestions (that work) will be appreciated.

Yes. On a computer. Not ios6.
On iTunes on your computer under purchased, select the x on the top corner. That will hide them.

  • Do not update App Store purchased apps with an updating application!

Very important piece of info that I have learned through "trial" and error.
    OK here is the deal...
If you purchase an application at the app store make sure that you never update any of those apps with a 3rd party updater (i.e. Mac Update Desktop)
I purchased DVDpedia from the app store and everything was working without any problems. A few days later I launched Mac Update Desktop and DVDpedia was in the list of applications that have an available update.
I selected the app and went ahead with the updating. Once the update was complete and I launched DVDpedia it had lost the connection to The App Store. It was now asking for a serial number to activate it. I am guessing that the new .app file or the pref file was changed to the version that is installed when you purchase the application outside of the App Store.
Long story shorter... I deleted the .app file and the pref file and had The App Store install it again and everything was back to normal.
But I just wanted to share this info with everyone so that you know not to update any apps from the App Store in any place other than the App Store.

Thanks for the heads up I have not made any purchases yet (new machine last week) but will remember this post.

  • ICloud Family Sharing - can't purchase apps with iTunes Credit

My wife and I previously shared the same AppleID on our phones.   When the family sharing became available, it seemed the perfect approach for what we were accomplishing.  I upgraded my wife's phone to 8.x and then moved her back to the Apple ID that I had initially created for her.  I invited her to join the family and completed that setup.
We then had some iTunes gift cards that she had received and so loaded those to her iTunes account (wife's AppeID) on her iPad.  However, when we attempt to purchase apps on her iPad, it insists on purchasing from my AppleID via my credit card rather than using the iTunes credit.
Any suggestions?  I've seen posts that iTunes credit cannot be transferred.

Nope, not actually. The only restrictions Alberta places on gift cards are the following:
    * Not allow expiry dates on gift cards, gift certificates, and vouchers that have been purchased and have monetary value
    * Eliminate inactivity fees, also called dormancy fees, that reduce the value of gift cards the longer they go unredeemed
    * Prevent businesses from not honouring gift cards for purchases that are
more or less than the value of a gift card
    * Require merchants to fully disclose any restrictions on use of a gift card on both the actual card and its packaging
To further my point, Apple definately does not abide by the last law (at least in the rest of Canada), as they say nothing on the card or its packaging about not being able to buy apps with it.

  • Can I share my iPad apps with my wife--she has her own iTunes account

I just bought my wife an iPad.  Can I share some of my apps with her?  We have different accounts and use different computers to sync.

Well, it's real easy if you use the same computer with the same computer login.  Just connect and go!  iTunes will keep track of which iPad is which by name.  The only minor nuisance is app updates.  You want to get into the habit of always using the iPads.  iTunes requires that you log out and back in again but the iPads handle it automatically.  You just have to remember the PW for both accounts.
I can't help you with two computers.

  • Lost purchased apps with iOS5

Yesterday I updated my ipod Touch to iOS5 to use iCloud. When I completed my iCloud sync I lost all my purchased apps. I turned off iCloud and connected to  my computer to sync and still none of my purchased apps! Any suggestions?

Where the apps on the computer on which yu did the update?  If not, they will be lost since thebbackup that iTunes makes as the first step of the update does not include apps (or music).
You can always redownload apps at no additional cost as long as you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased them.

  • How can I sync the Mac contacts app with my friends Facebook photos?

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 5 and and iPad so I'm not to new to Apple products, however i did just get my first MacBook (I'm in love!) I have a question, is it possible to sync the Mac Contacts app with Facebook so that my friends Facebook photos will show up in the Mac Contacts app like they do on my iPhone or iPad? When I use iMessage on my Mac I would like my friends FB picture to pop up, would someone mind to walk me through this process?
    Thanks!

If calendar events are not syncing from the iPhone to iCal on your mac, try Resetting the Sync History as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030
Then enable calendar syncing in iTunes and choose the Merge option on the initial sync.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2481 provides additional advanced troubleshooting tips that may help, if the issue persists.

  • Am I allowed to share my CC subscription with a friend?

Please note that I do not have CC yet.
I see that the programs can be installed on 2 computers but can another individual own the second install?

I was just told in Adobe CC live chat, "You can install at any two systems with the email address was used to purchase the subscription. " I was also told it is not recommended to share account details where I then asked if it is in any user agreement. It is not. I am certain that I am at no risk of sharing my account details with this friend of mine.
Since the live chat representative was unable to give me any definitive answers, the conversation was forwarded to another team and I should be getting an email in 2 - 3 business days.
Though I'm guessing I should be good to go based off the answers I got in the chat?
