  • HT1657 Am I able to download a movie I purchased onto a blank DVD?

I want to purchase This is the End, but I'm wondering if I can burn it onto a blank DVD like I can with songs onto a CD.

If you mean a data DVD for storage and transport, yes.
If you mean a video DVD for playback outside of iTunes, no.

  • Mac Pro doesn't read DVDs, show them as blank DVDs.

I am running an older Mac Pro with OSX 10.6.8 software. I have been trying to play DVDs through my internal disk drives but everytime I insert them my mac shows them as blank dvds in the finder, even though they play on other machines. I do have an external disk drive set up as well that does read the disks just fine.
I have read through many different forms from different sites and have found similar issues but no solutions. I have tried updating, blowing out the drive with a can of compressed air, yet nothing makes a difference. At first I had thought that maybe the drive had gone bad, however this is happening to both internal drives at the same time and therefore makes me belive that it is a software issue.
As I said, my mac recognizes both drives (SONY DVD RW DW-D150A) but shows the disk as a blank disk with no data on it. I use my disk drives daily and have not done anything new that would have changed the software process.
Please comment if you have any solution. I have yet to find anything that remotely answers my questions. Thank you.

  • How do I transfer purchased TV shows to computer.

Hello, I have an Apple TV and I have purchased lots of TV shows. The Apple Tv is now full but I don't want to erase anything because I will loose them. Is there a way to transfer this Tv Shows into my computer?

Control-click the Apple TV in iTunes and choose Transfer Purchases from the menu which appears. If a message appears saying the computer isn't authorized, authorize it from the Store menu and try again.

  • Impossible to transfer purchases from iPod to Laptop

I've purchased several movies, and TV episodes from my desktop (Windows XP) and successfully have copied them to my 5th gen iPod. However, now it's impossible to transfer them onto my laptop (Windows Vista) via my iPod. Both computers are authorized. No error is generated. I've purchases movies and TV episodes on my laptop and am able to transfer them to my iPod. There are several dozen files that are affected. Mind you it's only some but not all purchases.
HP Laptop   Other OS   Windows Vista Laptop and 5th Gen iPod

Since I am not having that problem, I'm not sure it will work.
But one thing you can do is open itunes with a completely blank library. See if those purchases will transfer into a blank library. Article on making a new library:

Make sure you only press the transfer purchases or things will go VERY wrong. But I think you know that.

DO NOT PRESS ERASE AND SYNC.
Also - was that 3rd party program free, or something you paid for? The free ones I've tried have had some problems. If you paid for it, I would ask for support on getting those 100 lost tracks.
Just curious, which 3rd-party ipod manager was it?

  • How do I transfer purchased TV shows to my MacBook?

I have a Generation 1 AppleTV (I "upgraded" to Gen 2, but guess what?  I live in Canada, and for some reason....not allowed to download tv shows with Gen 2!!!).  So I don't think I'm "allowed" to Home Share, either (with Gen 1).
I am going to lose my mind 3 years after buying AppleTV.  I have been a Mac user (exclusively) since 1989, but working with AppleTV reminds me of DOS of the old days!!
All I want to flippin' do is to buy TV shows on AppleTV and back them up on my computer (once I do that, I simply transfer them to an external drive, thus having them for the future).
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
For instance, I bought the first season of "West Wing." Watched it, and now I want to remove it from AppleTV to save space (this is another issue).  Rather than delete it, I need to copy it to my MacBook. Simle enough, right?  Pfft! The unbelievable thing is that all these "phantom" tv episodes show up in THREE different places, while it says it's backing up.  AND for some other reason???   I sometimes have multiple copies of the same episodes (presuably HD and non, but yet, I have 3 copies of one!).
Something different shows up under "Devices/AppleTV/TV Shows" from "Devices/AppleTV/Settings across the Ribbon bar" and Library/TVShows.
I have no idea what is syncing (it takes forever each episode, and sometime it downloads and sometimes it doesn't.)
Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I insane?  All I want is for some straight-forward steps on how to transfer my tv shows!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

  • Is it possible to download a movie you've purchased on iTunes to a blank DVD disk?

I really need help with this. I know you can burn music playlists to blank CD disks, so there's got to be a way to do this. Help!

    No.  You cannot do this.
You can backup the data file to disk, but you cannot watch it on a dvd player.

  • Can I copy my iTunes tv shows to a blank dvd?

I bought a season of a TV series and would like to know if I can burn those episodes onto a disk to watch on my TV instead of using my laptop every time. Is this possible? If not, how can I enjoy my media on a TV?

Video content from the iTunes Store cannot be burned to a disk usable on TVs, but can be synced to an iPod and then played on a TV.

  • Problem getting blank DVDs to show up on desktop or in iTunes

    Hello,
I have been trying to burn playlists in itunes onto a blank dvd. I can burn CDs, but when I try to insert a blank DVD, it checks media and spits it back out. Neither will my MAC show the blank dvd on my desktop when I insert it outside of iTunes. I have an internal DVD drive and an external one....same story!!??
The very last time I tried to burn a DVD in iTunes, it started, but then I got some strange message about the spool running out?? I've never seen it before.
    My DVD drives are a Yamaha CRW2100E and a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-1600D
Also, the drive keeps opening and closing...with or without a DVD in it. Again...it works for CDS!!!
I have verified and repaired my preferences. Any ideas as to what could be wrong?
    Thanks,
    John

Most likely your external DVD burner is causing a problem, disconnect it and reboot.
Try a different brand of media, handle only the edges.

  • Burned DVD's show up as blank

    Hello All,
I have a very strange problem that I've spent hours trying to figure out now, and haven't made any progress on. Yesterday, I used 'Burn' to burn several data dvd's on an iMac. Each burn completely successfully, and was confirmed good by checking in another iMac. You can also tell the dvd's are burnt by looking at the back of them. I believe they were burnt using the HFS+ filesystem.
Today, I tried using them on my MacBook Pro running OS 10.4.11. When I insert them, they show up as Blank DVD's and are mounted as such. Using the Disk Utility to examine the disk, I recieved this information:
    ===========
    Name : HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA4080M
    Type : Disk
    Disk Identifier : disk1
    Media Name : HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA4080M Media
    Media Type : DVDROM
    Connection Bus : ATA
    Connection Type : Internal
    Connection ID : Device 0
    Device Tree : /PCI0@0/PATA@1F,1/PRID@0/@0:0
    Locked : Yes
    Writable : No
    Ejectable : Yes
Mac OS 9 Drivers Installed : No
    DVDROM : Yes
    Optical Media Type : DVD+RW
    Device Type : CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW
    Location : Internal
    Total Capacity : 0 Bytes
    S.M.A.R.T. Status : Not Supported
    Disk Number : 1
    Partition Number : 0
    ==================
That looks right, except for the 'Optical Media Type' which should be DVD+R, though I may be misinterpreting what that is talking about.
Since the DVD's are showing up as blank, I tried burning something to them. They wouldn't burn.
I did get brief access to another iMac, and on that machine, one of the DVD's showed up perfectly. I'm at a loss as to what is happening here. Any ideas?
The drive will read other burned or pressed dvd's as well as cd's.
I'm nearly at my wits end here, because I really need this to work. I've been scouring google like a madman and haven't found any answers. It really gets me that the dvd's work in the iMac's, but not one this drive. This drive works well otherwise. This is one of the oddest computer problems I've encountered.

    I'm having the same problem, I can read data cd's but not data DVD's. Data DVD's I've burned after 3 minutes just get ejected, copied installation DVDs just get recognised as Blank DVD's. I've also tried the same DVDs when I boot my Macbook up in windows only, they also get spat out. I have an external DVD drive and the DVD's work fine in that, both in the Mac OS and the windows OS. Which would leave me to believe theres an obvious issue with the;

  • Why does Transfer purchases FROM sync TV shows TO ipad?

Why does iTunes automatically sync my TV shows BACK to my ipad after I choose "Transfer purchases FROM my ipad" under File-->Devices
I don't want them on the ipad. I have unchecked all of the boxes next to the TV shows.

    Hi mmttpp,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you are having issues when transfering your purchases from your iPad to iTunes directly, you may want to try redownloading them directly to iTunes, as noted in the following articles:

  • HT201272 I have transferred all my purchased tv shows to my pc, how can I transfer it back to my iPad?

I have transferred all my purchased tv shows to my pc, how can I transfer it back to my iPad? On my iPad, under purchased icon, there is nothing shown any more.I tried to sync back from my pc to iPad, it shows it has transferred a copy back to my iPad, but still nothing is on my iPad! Please help if you know how to fix

The first thing you want to check is icloud.com to see if your calendars are there.  If not you will need to recover from a back up.  More than likely our iPad was baking up to iCloud if you turned on the Back up feature, so you would want to go to settings, then iCloud and click on storage and back up to check there to see when your iPad last backed up to iCloud if it did at all.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859
is a article on backing up and restoring your device
http://heresthethingblog.com/2012/03/16/restore-icloud-backup-ipad/ shows to to restore your iPad from a iCloud back up.  If you are unsure of the steps or you are not able to do either you should contact iCloud support through expresslane.apple.com to see if they can help you get your calendars back.

  • Purchased tv shows wont transfer to 30g video ipod even after latest update

OK, so, after this latest update for itunes and ipod, i can only get one purchased tv show to transfer to the ipod video. how do i get the rest to transfer?
      Windows XP

Don't have my video with me, but do a search in the threads, or look in the help files in iTunes and you can find it, or someone will jump in here with it. I know you will need to connect your iPod, highlight it in the source list, and it should be on one of the syncing tabs.
