Is it iTunes or the Podcast causing the problem?

I download many differnet podcasts via iTunes and recently started seeing a problemwith several of them.
All of the podcasts I have this problem with come via the 'Radio Nostalgia Network' but only a few of their programs are affected. An example of what I am seeing can be found by downloading the September 22 'Big Band Serenade' found at: http://bigband.libsyn.com/.
This file, when iTunes received it, show a play length of 3 hours, 57 minutes but in reality plays for about 30 minutes. But that's not all! If I play it with iTunes, the counter moves as it should and ends after the 30 minutes. If I start it again, at the 30 minute mark, it starts back almost at the beginning of the podcast. Scrolling it up past the 3 hour mark, I'm closing in on the end of the podcast.
The files I am having problems with seem to be larger then they should be, running 45-55MB rather then the more typical 10-15MB, so there is something else going on.
Is anybody else seeing this problem?

Bummer that it didn't work. Wonder if you upgraded to OS X 10.4.10 would make a difference? of c ourse, having written that, I see I'm still listed as running 10.4.2 rather then 10.4.10 like I really am, so expect your in the same boat.
I'm really surprised that iTunes would freeze up so fast with no internet connection. With my system, if there is no connection, everything stops and I can delete the problem file so it doesn't try to download it when I turn my connection back on.
I don't think you would need to remove all of your tunes BUT I do highly recommend having a full back up of them just in case. You know that if you do have a back up replacing iTunes will go off without a hitch BUT not having a back up, everything that can go wrong WILL go wrong.
With that said, I would just delete the iTunes program, as well as the 'com.apple.iTunes.plist' file from ~/library/preferences then reinstall your most recent version of iTunes. Upon launching iTunes it should read in the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file which, if I u nderstand it correctly, is the DB holding all of your iTunes information loke playlists etc.
Have you had any luck finding an email/contact method for Mr Humphreys? I did give some feedback on a show last year (they played part 1 but never did play part 2) and while at least one other listener also voiced a complaint, nobody ever did anything. As such, that clearly isn't a way to get a message to him.
The Freudian slip wasn't intentional but guess it might serve a purpose so I shall save it in case I need it again sometime.

  • Is there a way to link from a podcast in the iTunes library list to the podcast in the iTunes store?

There used to be a link button that did exactly that.  It vanished from iTunes 2 or 3 years ago.  At that time, a number of posts asked how to put it back.  None of the posts I've found had a useful response, so I gather there wasn't.
I'm just wondering if things have changed.
Many podcasts now have multiple entries in the iTunes store - often with similar graphics.  There are times when I want to re-download an episode of a subscribed podcast.  The problem isn't getting to the podcast via a search of the iTunes store.  The problem is determining, when a podcast has multiple entries, which version of the podcast has the episode I want.
    Thanks

As far as I know (not very far, btw) new versions of Java are now only distributed from Oracle specifically for OS X. Apple is no longer updating Java beyond the version distributed with the 2014-001 security update. Java SE Runtime Environment 7 1.7.0_67 is the most recent Oracle release. That's pretty much all I know.

  • My podcast still loads on the podcast app, but i cannot find the podcast in the itunes store

My 200 plus episodes are on my already subscribed podcast app and they load there fine, but when i try to find the podcast in the iTunes store,it is gone. I tried to reload my RSS feed to itunes, but it says that feed is already loaded. I recently added a new RSS feed for another show and where posting the same shows in both. I have one as the network where i post many different shows, but also have one of those shows on its own RSS feed so people could subscribe to just that show as well. The one thats missing is Wild Jones Podcast Network, the one that shows is Sativa Sports Talk.

    For your feed - http://wildjones.com/rss
It is valid - but missing the iTunes category - that should not be why it went missing - that said - in your libsyn account for that show - go to "Destinations" and then click on "Edit" for Libsyn Classic Feed - and add in the iTunes category on that page and click save.  You should also enter the other info while on that page as well.
That said - the reason why your show was removed from iTunes is that you have profanity in the show description.
You can not have any profanity in the show title / description or the episode title or description.  Apple has a bot that removes the shows if there is profanity - and there are 3 F-bombs in your shows feed.  You will need to remove all of them - and any other profanity - once that is done - then contact me - ************* - and let me know and I will help you get back into iTunes

  • Rating the podcasts in the iPod?

Is it possible to use the "my rating" option with the podcasts in the iPod? I can do it in iTunes activating the column with the stars and all that stuff, but I can't do it in the iPod. Even after doing it in iTunes and synchronizing the iPod it doesn't appear the option as in the songs.

    Hi there,
It sounds like the maximum volume limit may be set to a lower vloume. I would recommend taking a look at the article below for more information on how to check that setting.

hi, 3 weeks ago i just got my iphone4 for and then i upgraded it to iOS5..am just wondrin', does changing or upgrading the OS causes the phone to shuts down automatically and turn on again? thanks.. =)

How long are you leaving it on the charger?
Are you connecting it directly to an electrical outlet or trying to charge via USB?  USB may not provide enough power to adequately charge the device if the battery is that low.
If none of that helps, then the only option would be a warranty replacement as either the battery or system board is bad.

  • IMac 27" (mid 2010): Will replacing the HD cause fan problems?

    Hi,
I have an iMac 27" (mid 2010). My HD is broken, and I'd like to replace it. I've already installed an SSD, so replacing the HD shouldn't be much of a problem.
However I've read that replacing the HD causes the fan to spin up all the time. Some sites say this started one generation later, but some remain unspecific or say that this problem affects all iMacs. Before I replace my HD, I'd like to know what to expect.
So my question is: in my 2010 iMac, can I replace the HD without causing fan problems (provided I put the temp plug in the right place )?
    Best regards,
    F

OWC is mistaken. I don't know why they keep saying that. (I'm not even certain the OWC blog linked above related to using the same make drive on the late 2009s was ever correct. I had a long phone conversation with an upper level WD tech some time ago who said that the originals were special ordered by Apple.) Those drives have Apple proprietary firmware which puts the temp sensor output to the jumper block, and you cannot just replace with a drive of the same manufacturer. A non-Apple WD drive will not have that connection at the jumper block.
Two possibilities: Get an external stick-on temp sensor that will work with your model or use SSD Fan Control.
    http://exirion.net/ssdfanctrl/
If I'm mistaken and you do get it to work directly with a replacement WD drive I will be pleasantly surprised, since I have a Late 2009 which will need a new drive sooner or later. Please post back with your results.

  • Stolen laptop. new one wont load the music cause the itunes is on the old 1

someone stole my laptop that itunes was on bought a new one but itunes wont recognize the ipod as belonging to this new pc so it wont sinc the purchased songs or the podcasts how do I fix this
    < Edited by Host >

Have you authorized the new computer? From the Store menu, chose Authorize computer. Once the computer is authorized, you should be able to transfer all of your purchases to the new computer from your iPod.
And, you may want to have your new computer looked at as none of your punctuation keys seem to work, making it very hard to understand what you're trying to say.
    Best of luck.

The sound input going to the mic is not going to pipe through the speakers like that.  It doesn't do it because it would cause a feedback loop on itself.  The mic input will take sound and output it to a program or to another pathway (like a VoIP or Facetime call, etc.) but it won't behave like a Karaoke machine if that's what you're thinking.

  • Help I just installed the latest update on my IPhone4 and now I can't open any of my stored podcasts. When I hit the podcast icon, the screen goes white for a second and the goes back to the opening page with all the icons. What happened?

Help! I just installed the latest update on my IPhone 4 and now I can't access my podcasts. When I hit the podcast I on, the screen goes blank for a second and then opens to the home screen with all my icons. What happened?

Try a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • How do I make the clickpad cause the size of my desktop icons to change?

As I work through the day, something I do to the clickpad seems to cause my desktop icons to suddenly grow larger, or shrink smaller.  I have noticed that the icon change happens as I sweep my regular clickpad finger across the clickpad.  I'm not sure what I'm doing with the other hand at the same time, but I seem to be touching the clickpad's left button area at least part of the time.  The sudden increase in size of icons causes them to rearrange themselves into an unfamiliar pattern, i.e. a mess.  So I then must take time to rearrange about 40 icons, thereby becoming vastly less efficient with a computer than I would be if using pencil and paper.  I am not able to reproduce this action at will; it only happens while I'm working normally well, concentrating on other things.
If any of you know exactly how this occurs, and what the feature is called, please tell me the name and, much more importantly, please tell me how I can stop this from occurring.  I've searched HP's instructions for the clickpad, searched for a newer driver, and searched the forums to no avail.  The notebook computer is a Pavilion DV7-4280us (a quick-ship model).  The offending clickpad is, apparently, being beta tested on unsuspecting consumers who, choose to believe the HP tech support and sales folks instead of the numerous previous consumers who have complained about these clickpads in customer reviews.  Overall, this computer really is terrific; but I sure could use some help to prevent these undesirable scramblings of my desktop icons that suddenly outgrow the space allocated to them.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Firefox now always stores the old session which you can access by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session".
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # In the Firefox menu select Preferences to open the Preferences window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
If you have it set to the above but it is not remembering the tabs, the file that stores details of sessions may be corrupt.
    # Open your profile folder, for details of how to find it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
    # Close Firefox
    # In the profile folder delete sessionstore.js
That file will be recreated when you next start Firefox

  • Deploying VIs to the RT causes the value in the Physical Channels of one of the VIs to change to an incorrect value. Why?

Hi all.  I've been registered to the forum for a couple of years, but this my first post.  I'll try to give as much info as I can.
    NIPXIe-1082 chassis
    slot 1: PXIe-8133 Embedded Controller
    slot 2-3: PXIe-6363 X-Series Multifunction DAQ
    slot 4: TB-4353 32-Ch. Thermocouple
    slot 5: PXI-4496 Analog Inputs 16-ch
(The second 6363 in slot 3 is a recent addition causing the others to move to higher slot numbers.)
    Windows 7
    LabVIEW 2011
This code is still being developed to run a test stand, but its based on code from a previous test stand that is being modified for the new one.  There are three VIs that are opened and then deployed to the RT.  On the Front Panel of one of the VIs is a DAQmx Physical Channel control.  The control points to slot 5, but when I deploy the VIs, the control changes to point to slot 3.  None of the three VIs have been run yet.  I can manually "Reinitialize to Default Value" to get the control to point to slot 5 again, but I shouldn't have to.
I realize that there is a lot I still don't know about NI hardware and LabVIEW.  This just seems like it should be a really simple solution and I'll probably have one of those DUH moments when I get told the answer.  I'll try to answer whatever questions for more information that I can.  Thanks in advance.
    -Psiber_Space

Yes, it is defaulted to slot 5.  After it changes I can Reinitialize to Default to bring it back.
Two things that I've tried during the week.  I've deleted the Physical Channel and then recreated it, but it continued to change upon deployment.  Then I simply disconnected the Physical Channel, moved it to an out-of-the-way location on the Block Diagram and then created a new Physical Channel.  The old Physical Channel is still changing upon deployment, but the new one stays intact.  It seems that as long as the old one isn't deleted, this workaround should work.  Except that the problem now seems to be spreading to the other controls on the same VI.
Just today I upgraded from 2011 to 2011 SP1, but the problem is still there.  After the upgrade, I tried recreating the LabVIEW project from scratch, but that didn't seem to work either.
I'm going to try contacting NI directly, but if anyone else has any ideas, feel free to continue posting.

  • I want to take out the podcast from the screen

i just bought the macbook pro and i was just looking up through the apps and i open the podcast capture and the boot camp assistant and i want to take it out of the screen and i can't. How can i do about it?

The normal way to close an application is to drop down the menu entitled the same as the application, top left next to the apple menu, and select 'Quit [appname]'.  Alternatively right-click it's icon in the dock and select 'Quit'.  If an application refuses to quit then drop down the apple menu and select 'Force Quit'.

  • TS1365 My Macbook Pro (mid 2009) is on the second power cord and I am having the same problems as I did with my first.  It won't charge.  Is this normal to have this happen twice?  Is the computer causing the problems?

This is my second power cord and it is now not charging either.  Is this a coincidence or is my computer causing the power cord failures?

    Hi T,
I would bring it to an Apple Store or AASP to have it checked out. If it's under warranty, it's their problem, not yours.
