Anyway. I used to get a bit fed up with Adobe's marketing of Golive that implied you could just plonk stuff on a web page, using a grid, and all would be well, easy-peasy, knock up a web site in half an hour. Miserable people would pour in, unable to do what they wanted because they 'didn't do code' or ' 'not a programmer' or 'haven't got time to poke around in source code' or 'why won't anyone answer a simple question'.
Or they'd create a layout in Photoshop, thinking they could just slice it up and call it a web page - then, oh my goodness, how do I edit my text? Why can't the search engines see my site?
The problem was, they thought it should be dead simple to arrange stuff on a page however they wanted. They didn't have time/inclination to learn how web design worked.
Now it's templates. Nothing wrong with a very basic, simple template to show people the first principles. But now people are buying or acquiring all kinds of templates, optimistically believing they don't have to do code, don't have to learn anything, just pay the money then create havoc shuffling stuff about and hoping for the best.
It's not rocket science. But it's not dead simple either. There are no shortcuts.
People have to learn about html and css, as a minimum, to have any success. Yes, life's a bitch and then you die but effort must be expended. Sorry about that.

I think the problem arises from modern culture.  Not that it's necessarily anything new, but we definitely live in a "I want it now" culture.  A culture where even a microwave oven or waiting for a few seconds for a web page to load can test one's patience to the point of anger.
For me, as a child, a microwave oven would have only been an exhibit at the World's Fair.  And when you wanted waffles you had to go the route of mixing the batter from scratch and cooking them up in the waffle iron.  There weren't any "just add water" or "pop 'em in the toaster" options.  You can probably guess which were better though.
What sells today is almost always driven by the promise that you can have it now.  You too can be a homeowner, here's a loan... that's worked out well, hasn't it?  Adobe is no different than any other company that sells to the general public... Sham-Wow!  It's not the companies that have to clean up their acts.  The fine print covers all the wrongness that bubbles up.  It's a game and it's the consumers that have to do the work to play their part smartly if they want to win... at'sa life.
I was lucky enough to have taken courses in html and javascript where all the coding was done by hand in Notepad, and also lucky enough to become quickly addicted to it all--wanting to learn and create whatever I could.  When I moved on to using WYSIWYG tools, I found myself always cleaning up the mess they made by going back to the manual editing mode, and I still do that today.  With a single unanswered exception, I never posted questions to any forums looking for help.  That's not to say I didn't use them... I learned early on how to find answers to problems without asking... Help documentation and search engines.
It's sad, but as we who help in these forums see every day, many of the people that get involved with designing things with software have little desire to actually learn how.  And they don't want to pay someone to do it for them... they want the result, now, for free, not lessons or skills.  And the forums become a crutch for these people... you see them back again and again. One person recently started a new posting for every little section of code after being told no one was likely to revise the massive chunk they posted on their first attempt. It went on for about a week until they finally had all they needed done for them and haven't been back since.
Luckily, for our own sanity's sake, we have choices when it comes to helping people.  Those of us who value the lessons and the skills have the option to hand out the gimmee they want, to make them suffer some learning, or to just leave that 0 sitting there under Replies.  It's so much easier to be patient and make the extra effort to help someone when they show a real interest in learning about the tools they are trying to use.

    Thanks for the update! Next, and this is like a last step for me, but I would quit Safari one more time, then clear all the Safari data from the phone with this info and then test it out again:
    Safari web settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    Clear information from your device
    To clear your history and cookies from Safari in iOS 8, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Clear History and tap Clear Cookies and Data.
    To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on           
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable                                                       
    - Try on another computer                                                       
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    It does take some time for a movie to download, could it still be downloading ? Also the rental tab is only there when you have rented a movie. If all else fails talk to iTunes support, they have helped me in the past.

    I would like to be able to use the iMessage app on my iPad2 wifi, but I can't seem to get it to work. Is this because it's not 3G and it dosn't work on just wifi? Please explain this to me.

    iMessage does work on a iPad2 wifi only. There must be a different problem on your iPad. Please clarify what you have already done to config iMessage. Do you get error messages? Which?

    iOS 4.2.1 is the most recent, and probably last, version that an iPhone 3G can run. If you need apps that require IOS 4.3 or later, you're stuck. You should have purchased an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S, all of which can run iOS 5.

    Also I have noticed opened windows that I have not opened.
    I have verified the sharing folder and also the remote access but it not let me turn it off.
    Also I have add a password to my computer and even using the same one it looks like is not working.
    The I photo stopped working, Mac Mail does not let me add rules (this is from one day to the other)
    The computer is mine, the internet I use is payed by me with a password. I did not give permission to anyone to use my computer or share my files.
    In system preferences in the sharing folder is showing everyone and staff.
    My computer is private I do not own a company and I do not have a network set up in my house.
    I had my photos removed from my computer and even after trying to reinstall I photo and fix the Mac Mail is not working.
    I am receiving emails saying that I have sent emails to people that I do not know and including in a time where I am working and not using the computer.
    Any suggestions in how to fix this issue?

    With the multitude of issues you have I would take it to an Apple store or AASP and have them sort it out. Then I would sign up for Apple camp or one on one.

  • How to make Nano NOT appear on Mac desktop as connected drive when I plug in to recharge it? Just want charging, not syncing, and don't want to unmount drive each time.

    I have a 6th generation iPod Nano.
    I almost exclusively use it as an FM radio and as a pedometer -- so far I have not loaded any songs onto it for listening, nor do I intend to in the future.
    Here's my problem:
    When my Nano runs out of juice, I have to use the charging cord to plug it into to my iMac's USB port to recharge the Nano. However, whenever I do so, two different (unwanted) actions happened:
    First, the act of plugging in the iPod auto-launched iTunes, for syncing. I solved this problem by finding the preference check box for launching iTunes when connecting an iPid, and UNchecking the box. That worked, problem solved.
    However, the second automatic action is that the iPod appears as a connected drive on the iMac desktop, as any external device with a drive would appear when connected to any Mac. But I have no need for this to be happening -- I don't intend to upload anything to the iPod, nor to sync it, or whatever -- the only reason I ever connect the iPod to the iMac is to RECHARGE the iPod, not to tinker with the contents of what's on it.
    The problem is, every time I then want to disconnect the charging cord, I have to manually "unmount" the iPod drive by dragging its desktop icon to the Trash, when then allows the "it is now safe to disconnect your external drive" state to obtain, allowing me to then unplug it without getting a warning message telling me I shouldn't have just disconnected a connected drive without first unmounting it.
    This wouldn't be such a bother, except that the 6th generation iPod Nano has a new "feature" which makes it impossible to see how far along the charging is progressing while it is still in the act of charging. Thus, the only way to know if it is has become  fully charged is to unplug it, and look at the battery monitor. While is it still connected and charging, all that displays on the iPod is the "charging now" battery icon, which does not reveal just how the charging is progressing, or if it is fully charged yet. (My iPhone, by way of contrast, displays during charging a battery icon which reveals how far charged it is by that point.)
    As a result of this Nano "feature," I often find myself having to connect and disconnect the Nano two or three or more times each time I'm charging it, so I can simply check how far along the charging has gotten, since I want to disconnect it as soon as it has finished charging and get back to using it.
    But so far, I have not been able to find any kind of setting or preference which allow me to identify this device as one which I DON'T want to "mount" each time it is plugged in.
    All I want to do is just plug in the iPod, and be able to unplug it, without having to to ANY shenanigans on the computer itself. Just plug in = recharging, unplug = not charging any more. Simple.
    Question: is there any way to achieve this? Or is it simply not possible, and must I manually unmount the iPod's drive (more than once, usually) each time I plug it in for recharging?

    I should also point out that when I connect my iPhone, it DOESN'T appear as a connected drive on the desktop. Not sure how this can be so, since the iPhone also has a drive and also functions as an iPod if I want it to. I must have changed some setting to achieve this non-appearance, but don't remember what I must have done.
    What's the secret?

    I have some doubts:
    1.I have added one custom RN to one oracle standard page. it is working fine in Google Chrome browser but the look & fill is not coming right in IE.
    2. I have 4 dropdown lists in my RN, when i will select any values from them PPR should fire..it is working fine but first the validation on the standard page is firing then only my cutom RN is coming.
    I hav etried by changing: super.processRequest and super.processFormRequest methods up and down....even i have removed this methods from my custom CO but still the standard page validations are firing first, please suggest me how i can supress it.

    I have the same problem but the solution Wendyz99 did has not been successful for me. Part of the itunes store loads on the right side where the tabs for Quick Links and Top Charts are but the center section of the page is white. Also if I click on a song that is in the top chart area it will take me to the page but I'm not able to purchase the song or preview the song.
    I feel I have tried all the solutions I can find on line and even had conversations with apple tech with no help.
    I have down loaded the Autoruns program and in the winstock providers I have Bonjour and Microsoft Windows Live ID Namespace Provider. I have removed Windows Live and this still does not resolve the problem. I am at a complete loss. I am running windows 7, 32bit. Someone please help!

    If you cannot close the Pen Tool by switching to another tool, as a temporary measure you may try pressing P (for Pen).
    To solve it, you may try the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • My time capsule just keeps looking for a backup disk

    I am having problems with my Time Capsule. I try to back up my mac book pro onto my time capsule and it just states "looking for back up disk" and wont go past that. It still works as a shared folder to store files, however it never comepltes a back up. It had been working fine then all of a sudden stopped. I have tried everything. I reformated it back to the factory settings and set it up again. I didn't lose any of the files I had on it using it as a external hard drive. However it still wont back up. Any help would be great as I have tried multiple things. I am currently using moutain lion.

    Your reset did nothing to the TC drive.
    Try a verify of the backup.. A5 in above reference.. And load the widget, A1 so you know what TM is doing.
    If you continue to have issues.. ensure the TC has a short name, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. See C9.. same reference again. Many people use names which are far too long.. it causes issues.
    Sometimes mixing data and backups as you are doing has bad effects.. it is certainly not without issues.

    Sometimes it does just bomb.. you do have to wipe the drive.. ie erase and start over. Clearly if you are loading data as well onto the TC.. wiping will require you first off load those files. Consider using a USB drive to keep data and backups separate.

    If you are referring to the carrier lock, there is no way to tell just by looking at it. You'll need to try it with a different carrier's SIM and see, or perhaps if you call Apple Support, they may be able to tell you the lock status.
    If the carrier lock is not what you mean, please post back and clarify.
