Is it just me, or is everyone who purchased a "boxed version" required to continuously activate their software?

Before this ASININE copyright-protocol activation bull@#$% was repeatedly inflicted upon me, I had an idea that Adobe was a good company. I now see just how far out of touch they REALLY are with their customers. I ask you, who in their right mind would require a customer, who has already purchased the item(s) in question (the "boxed versions" of Adobe Photoshop - Premiere Elements 13 and Lightroom 5), to go on continuously validating their purchase(s) in order to continue using the same? This sort of paranoid behavior is tantamount to the receipt checker at Walmart repeatedly calling you at home, demanding that you fax your receipt over to Walmart, or else they'll prevent you access to the item(s) that you purchased; e.g., "No, no, no, Mr. Smith, you can't go on using that lawnmower, you didn't fax us the receipt!" And to add unmitigated insult to these repeated injuries, Adobe makes the proverbial hoop-jumping circus poodle appear indolent compared to their procedure(s) required in order to activate, and then re-activate, the customer's own property, i.e., Adobe's software program(s). That being said, is there ANYONE out there who knows how to activate these programs once and for all?

Out of interest, I punched in the 800 number, and it does take you to a call center for Photoshop Elements.

    While it is not likely just you, it is definitely not everyone.  Try searching the forums for this issue - it has appeared before.

    The whole idea to an icloud account is that one user uses it and has all their devices synced together.  Different users need different Apple IDs to create their own icloud accounts.  Note that everyone can still use the same ID for an iTunes account (to share purchases).

  • Microsoft Project Server 2010 - Need a query/report to show everyone who did not submit timesheet last week

    I need to create a MSPS 2010 query/report to send out to my project managers that show them everyone who did not submit their timesheet for the previous week.  I would like to be able to filter it by project/client but would settle for just a list
    of all unsubmitted timesheets at this point.  Every link I have found point to old reports for MSPS 2007 and the queries do not work because of schema changes between MSPS 2007 and 2010.  Please help!

    Here is the query I had came up with.  Looks like I was on the right track...  I did two actually.  First one to give me a roll up list of employees with outstanding time sheets for last week and the hours, then the same data with an explosion

    Is there a way to retrieve every email address from everyone who has ever sent me an email? Is there a file somewhere? I don't mind if I have to cut and paste them into my address book. I have never used my address book, which was not too smart.

    there is no file but you can do it using Mail Scripts. http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
    It has a script to import addresses from selected emails into Address Book. select all emails in your inbox and use it.

    I'm sorry, but these replies have been ludicrous.  To actually answer your question, I would think they would honour their usual 14-day return policy, but you would need to speak with Apple directly.
    As to the whole "which is better" debacle, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro 7 is the more polished and fleshed out piece of editing software, and what everyone is most familiar with to boot.  But let's be honest, what do you expect for software that is ten years old versus three days.  The fact of the matter is that pretty much everyone editing with Apple's software in the not so distant future is going to be editing on Final Cut Pro X, hands down.  It's fundamentally that much better.  You nay-sayers out there, if you don't switch to Adobe or Avid, you will go to FCP X!  There is a reason for that, and there will be an even stronger reason for that with every update.  People don't seem to understand that.
    In your situation, if you don't own either, it makes a whole lot more sense to me for you to just roll with the hiccups FCP X brings if you can at all handle it.  If not, you are going to spend $999 now on FCS 3 and another $400 in the near future when you decide to take the leap.  Is there something worth $1000 to you in FCS 3 that FCP X doesn't offer?  If so, then great, go ahead.  It's an amazing piece of software.  If not, enjoy the head start on what editing is going to look like for the next ten years.

    Well, in his defense, his parents bought him the player so I guess we can't blame him. Though the 6 GB versions were available in November so I guess they really did get 'nervous' about Christmas and like to get their shopping done early! Kudo's to you for trying to remain with the Creative line but for what you're looking for it's obviously not the player for you. Creative seems to be fine-tuning their line for the audio crowd. I'm into mp3 players for the audio. Sure, the ability to watch video's and look at pictures on a decent screen is a plus but for me at least, it's all about the music. And with music, 6 GB is more than enough. Heck, 8 GB would have been more than enough for me. I'm a subscriber to Napster-to-go, so I don't feel the need to carry 00 plus GB of stuff on my portable player. I honestly don't understand the desire to watch movies or TV shows on tiny little screens. But you're also talking to a guy who doesn't watch television. What a complete waste of time and brain cells. Probably the **competitor products we can't discuss here** or one of those players would better suit your needs. Companies are definately picking their niche markets carefully and Creative's decision to not offer hard dri've players any more seems to definately be saying bye-bye to that market. I can't say I blame them. Hard dri'ves eventually give up the ghost and are quite delicate for people on the go. Good ridance, I say. Let Apple, Zune and all the others cater to the Z generation's need to be spoonfed their video/TV addictions anywhere and everywhere. I'll pass. It's one thing to be able to enjoy some music on the go and enhance an otherwise dull work day or dri've. But movies/TV shows at work, school, or wherever? Please. Cut the cord! Just my $.02 - YMMV!     You don't transfer Apple ID's from one device to another one. You sign out in the settings, )the App Store and iTunes if necessary) and then sign in with the other ID.
    Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Sign out. Them sign in with the other ID. You can sign out of the app store and iTunes as well by going to the featured Atab in the App Store and the music tab in iTunes, swipe to the bottom and access the Apple ID in there.
    You should have erased the iOad before you gave it to her in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That way she could set up the iPad as new with her own Apple ID.
    Be aware of the fact that if you use each others ID's in order to download past purchased content to your own iPads, you will lock yourself out of your own ID as you will have associated your iPad with the other person's Apple ID.
    In other words, if you sign into your wife's ID on your iPad so that you can download an app or an album so that you don't have to pay for it again, you will lock yourself out of your Apple ID for 90 days.

    Highlight the movie, go to iTunes menu ADVANCED and select create iPad and AppleTV version.

    What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

    just took my iPod classic 160GB out of box, turned it on and accidentially hit a button changing the language from english to something else (chinese or japanese).  All I see now is symbols.  How do I turn it back to english without knowing what any of these symbols mean.  I started clicking buttons and click wheel and can't seem to get to any section with various language options.  Please some help me get it back to english.

    There are two options. The first is to learn whatever language you have it set to, the second is to find someone else with an iPod Classic and read the English menu and follow it in your iPod. I also believe you may be able to set language perfunces from within iTunes while the iPod is docked, providing they are in English.

  • If I purchase a box set of iLife and just install the iDVD component on my new iMac should I be able to make a DVD in the format that plays on a TV DVD?

    When I recently purchased my first iMac I was disappointed to find that there was no DVD making facility. I want to make a video of photo's and movie clips and then make a DVD that will play on a TV DVD player. I am thinking of purchasing a box set of iLife that includes iDVD and just installing the iDVD component. Can someone  please confirm that tyhis will work? If not any suggestions?

    If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them. 
    Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:

    You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
