Is it just me or is Passbook a completely useless app?
I've got a United flight coming up and it's not doing anything with it- what is the point of this seemingly useless app?
Totally useless.
I have the same problem with the United app. Whats worse is a search for the united app yields nothing. Now I have to open passbook, which does not display the installed app and then go to the app store, and launch it from there... its worse than useless its crippled an otherwise useful app.
I read somewhere that if you make a purchase through the app that it will then show up in passbook, so I purchased some tickets through Fandango... and gues what, I still have that same problem with the Fandango app as well, nothing displays in Passbook.
This is simply a way for Apple to drive more purchases through itunes billing, where they get a cut. another Epic fail from apple. Maybe if they focused more on inovation and less on litigation things like this would work.

Just paid $6.99 for iPad highlighter at App Store. I can find no way to make it work in the iPad file when I call it up. It just sits there like any other app. Thanx in advance for the help. [email protected]
See if the developer has a website with intstructions. Check around in the app for instructions. They're often under settings. Contact the developer.

Help - have an iTunes account on iPad for well over a year. Just bought iPhone 5 and I cannot purchase apps using my account. I am asked to verify my credit card and details but then it rejects them. They are still fine on the iPad. Any ideas?
I tried to contact support but they do not recognise my Thai phone number.
the Thai support site is all in Thai (and I neither read or write it).
All I want is a single email address that works - it must be quite a simple process.
I don't want to create another account with another credit card - life will just get seriously complicated then.
BTW my apple I'd is accepted for downloading free apps!!!First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

Even though I entered a credit card. Will it not charge anything if I only install the free apps? Is there like a monthly charge or just a charge when I want to buy apps that cost actual money?

Aren't they in your iTunes library? If so, sync them back to your phone. If not, redownload them (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).

iPhoto just froze so I Force Quit the iPhoto app and now I have lost half my (hundreds) of photos. How do I restore them?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

My iPad2 works great now after IOS 8.1 Update
I did my iPad2 update thru iTunes on my iMac and it was sucking the iMacs memory very low during the update. Safari froze before loading the first web page and I did a hard boot and went fishing as I saw where it was going to take a long time to recover. When I tried again it wasn't quite right and then did one more hard boot and then did a Reset by going to General-Reset-"Reset all Settings" and it works real well now without loosing any data and in-home wi-fi clocks at 17Mbps download. Probably like most of you I’m sticking with OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks as it gets the job done very nicely and don’t need all that extra fancy stuff that probably will slow things down. -

If you click on Purchases icon in the toolbar you should find it listed with your purchases. There should be a progress bar showing.
The file is over 4 GBs. How long it takes depends on your internet service speed. -

They are only free via the account orginally purchased or if they came pre installed on the computer. Depending on what you have purchased already us the one account for the app store - saves headace and hassel in the future thus not double buying software. Do you have iwork installed on your imac? meaning the iwork 09? if you do your should be able to to to the store and update it. Worked fine for me since i bought the DVD version of iwork 09 and Aperture 3. I did not want to have to rebuy them so the app store noticed i had them installed and changed the update via the app store.

Just installing a few updates from the Mac App Store for mountain lion on my 2010 MacBook Pro, during this it made a noise and then the screen and keyboard went off, like it is off. What happened, is it off...or should I just wait it out?
What kind of noise?
The only things I can think of that make noise are fans and disks. Fans usually will not cause the computer to shutdown as you describe. My guess is your disk drive died. I hope you made a backup prior to start the ungrade.
