Is it just me or is the forum wonky?

For me, ASC forum qua forum is unpredictably wonky.
At times I've tried to post in a thread and find that I'm unable because I'm not logged in even though I'd just logged in. Try logging in again and still find, according to the thread, that I'm not. Go to, for instance, the mini sub-forum main page and that says I am logged in.
Another example -- I log out and the forum does indeed immediately verify that's the case. Return as a visitor, hours later, to a thread I've never before been in and find that I'm logged in.
There's other things, but I haven't been writing them down.
Is this because of the change in forum software a couple of months ago?

You need to login. Clear FF caches. Reload problem page. You need an auto reloader.
Here is my ASC work flow...
1) I login.
2) Start an auto reloader.
Unless you do something every thirty minutes you get logged out. The forum software waits to tell you this as long as it can to keep you in suspense ;-) .

You need to pick a page that will reload over time without stalling out. It's ASC. I've found my profile display the best to use. I get my Profile page after some logins. It's ASC. Change rccharles to your apple id.

3) I open another window to do my normal ASC browsing.
4) I have a FireFox bookmark to goto the discussions that I have participated in. I've modified it to add on the content stuff.

7) Read and answer my old posts. I kind of memorize the time I last posted. ( It's way bad that apple eliminated the last poster to a thread. )
8) I use tabbed browsering. From a list of discussions, hold down the command key then click on the link. You get two tabs this way. The original window will keep where you have been.

Visual Basic Forum - Is it just me or is the Forum not updating when a post is answered so the post bumps to the top of the first page?

Maybe this is an issue with my webbrowser, though I doubt it, or maybe it's an issue with all forums currently due to some new "update" that again requires testing by microsoft end users in order for microsoft to debug issues the end users have
to find for them.

Where is the Moderator of the Forum?!

While opening forum to review the questions I was shocked with Spams sent over OTN forum. Where is the Moderator of the Forum and Who will delete all these spams and WHEN??

I would second Karam, the world does not stop during the week-end, and Oracle is responsible for what is happening on OTN forums on the week-ends or as well as the week days.No, the world doesn't stop, but the thread came across quite agressively as a complaint about the lack of moderators. We do have to remember that this is a freely provided forum and Oracle does not actively moderate it 24/7 as a paid support line.

New To The Forum And Looking For Speed Help!

Hello, After trying to find information about my problem on the Internet and then speaking to the BT Indian Call Centre, I stumbled upon this forum. I am hoping, having looked at so many helpful comments and contributions, that I might be able to shed some light upon my connection speed issue. I have had a very pleasing and stable Internect connection speed of nearly 8Mb. However, I recently moved my router to the Master socket in the house which was better positioned to give a good WiFi signal throughout my house. However, when I have plugged in the router and booted it up, I can only connect at just over 4Mb regardless of what I try. I know I am at risk of sounding a touch ungrateful here because there are many more people with bigger problems than I but I would be very grateful for some advice / assisitance as to why my problem might have occurred and how I might regain my previous speed. in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

I've tried all those.But nothing works.The phone seems to be shut down.But it is not.When i get it out of my pocket, for example to call someone, i touch to main button but nothing happens.I solve it by pushing the power button and the main button together just for a couple of seconds, as its said so in the forums.
also, people told me that they were calling me, my phone was ringing but i didnt answer?...i checked it for millions of times, it seems to be shut down, but its normally not.then i push the buttons together and the apple sign comes on the screen.it searches for the network.and it works.
but i do not see any calls, texts anything.but for the others, they say my phone seems to be workin.
I thought it was 'cause of the 3G is switched on but when I turn 3G off, it does the same thing.it seems to be offline all the time.

I have noticed several posts in which the original author of the post went back into it to edit it.
How is that done? There have been many times I wanted to go back and edit.

Jabberwock, the experiment went like a slide on ice.
I did say that I would return in 15 minutes to edit a second time, but I got tied up in other things and returned to my office in about 40 minutes. I clicked onto my post as it existed in the forum list, but when it came up, it did not have that icon of the pen, so I figured that too much time had elapsed and I just let it go.

Edit: Oh oh. I think I discovered what might have happened. When I sent this message to be posted, a copy of the message remained "behind." THAT message had the pen icon on it. So my mistake was to go to the forum topic list for my message rather than to return to that particular page that acts like a holding tank for messages that I recently posted.
I might be way off base here, and if I am I hope someone clarifies so that anyone who is just starting out won't be misled by what I say here.....

I got a popup message, I needed to upgrade to 3.6.17. After allowing it and rebooting, I couldn't start FF anymore, just got a crash report. I tried going to the restore point I had set with no luck and I tried creating a new profile. I lost all my bookmarks (only the Cache remained). And I sat in live chat for an hour waiting for help. German live chat had one helper and English live chat was closed.
So I gave up on help, uninstalled FF 3.6.17 and downloaded FF 3.6.15 and installed it. It loads but all bookmarks are gone. More importantly, now when I load the bookmarks, I can't '''retrieve''' them except by storing a new one. '''Only''' when I create a new bookmark can I see the folders I've created. I can't get to the organizer so I can't use the bookmarks to retrieve websites.
I'm disturbed that I can't get to the tree-structure forum where I can get the help I need. This "lead me around" labyrinth from one question to another, without being able to look through the forum for the information I need, is not helpful.

Time Machine spends hours partially backing up and then fails with "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup due to a network problem." I've tried various suggestions I've seen on the forum but nothing has worked. TIme Machine worked fine for the last two years and just suddenly started having this problem every time. The only thing that was a little different is that the computer was off for a week while on vacation and then I added a large amount (20 GB) of photos. Now the requested backup size is 82GB, which is large, and process proceeds very slowly for 2-3 hours before failing with the message mentioned. I have more than enough available backup storage space for it. Before failing, Time Machine has backed up no more than 12GB or so of the backup. It fails during different files each time.
I've turned off the computer sleep feature, and I've checked that the NAS is set to never automatically power down. I normally backup over Wi-Fi, but I've also tried connecting to Ethernet and it still has the same problem. It's odd because I also have a MacBook Pro that is still backing up fine to the same NAS using the MacBook's Time Machine.
I am using an iMac with OS X 10.6.8 and an Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 NAS.
I have system logs that I can share if helpful. The logged messages vary a bit from run to run, but here are some messages that I've been seeing:
I always get this message near the beginning of the backup:
Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Macintosh HD
I've gotten this messsage a number of times:
Bulk setting Spotlight attributes failed.

That looks like a problem was found with the file system (data) on the TM disk. I don't know the details, but OSX tried to recover it from the journal, and found extra data on the drive. Likely a result of the incompatibility mentioned above.

Something caused a disconnect. Can't tell from the log what it was.
I doubt it's a problem with something in OSX being damaged or corrupted, but reinstalling OSX isn't a major hassle, so might be worth a try.
To be incompatible with Snow Leopard, this NAS must be at least a couple of years old. It may be beginning to fail.
Contact the maker. See if there's an update to make it compatible with Snow Leopard. If so, that might fix it.
If not, or if that doesn't fix it, see if they have any diagnostics that will shed any light.

Is it just me or is the forum wonky?
