new iso6 maps are the worse version of mapsever used on iphone. not user friendly at all and not street view. big disappointment

when in NYC the map doesn't even display what trains stop at the various stops.

Maybe they work in the US but in the UK they are terrible, London looks great, but everywhere else is a blurry mess, and even major cities such as Nottingham where I live are unrecognisable, covered in a blanket of cloud!

How to tell which maps are the latest?

I have Maps v3.01 loaded on my 6710 Navigator (came with free worldwide licence) and Map Loader v3.0.28 on my PC.
How do I tell which maps are loaded on my Nokia and what version/date the maps availalble on Map Loader are?
Map Loader does not state which maps are already on my phone, nor does it state the date or version of the maps which can be uploaded.
Obviously, I'd like to install newer versions of my country map if and when it is available, but how do I know which version is available and which I already have?
Ovi.com does not seem to be the answer either as all maps were downloaded using Map Loader.

If you already have a free worldwide license and V 3.01 is working well for you then you are right to leave it for the moment. I hear of problems searching for addresses etc with V3.03. Can always update later when everything is sorted.
I believe if you delete all your maps and then use Ovi Suite to download new maps, Ovi Suite will at least tell you what maps you have on your phone. I haven;t tried it myself because I can't stand Ovi Suite.
Speed warning is available for Ireland but just like you I have to import the speed camera locations as landmarks. Hopefully, we will see these as new features in future updates.

How can we get back google maps as the default maps application.
Apple maps are just 5 years behind. Really awful and disappointing.

For now, it's easiest just to go to maps.google.com in Safari. It will automatically load the mobil version of thei site. Not the same as the old app, but at least you have access to the basic features.
You can even create an icon to add to your home screen.
I think Apple knows they've got a lot of work to do with Maps!

Which maps are loaded on my phone?

I'm using Nokia Map Loader to install maps on my phone for the various countries I travel to, but how can I tell which maps are already present on the phone?
I can't see any way to determine if a particular map is already installed, or whether it's the latest version. It seems the only way to be sure you have the latest map is to download and install it again. The maps for some countries are over 100MB in size, so it would be nice to avoid doing that if it's not necessary.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to tell what maps you already have with the current version of Map Loader.
However, there is no harm in regularly downloading map data, even if you already have it as the maps are regularly updated. I actually make it a point to regularly download all the maps I refularly use. The new maps will just overwrite the old and I am guaranteed the latest maps.

Why maps are not working for India on iPad 3?

I live in india and when my operating system was ios 5.1.1. I can search places in iPad and get direction from any place any where but after downloading ios 6 my maps are good but they are not searching place if I ask directions for any place it says that directions are not available.

To make it even more confusing, i have since reconnected the iPad to my PC and done the following:
1) Added the missing songs (iTunes was recognising that the iPad did in fact have those songs despite not being visible on the library)
STILL A PROBLEM - logged back on to iPad, not available on the music library
2) Did a search on iPad for the band, list of songs found, but when selected to play in Music library, nothing happens, just displays list of artists without the one i want
3) Reconnected to PC, deleted the music, and then manually added to iPad
STILL A PROBLEM - logged back on to iPad, not available on the music library
Seems like i am forever doomed not to have this band on my iPad

This fix worked for me as well. All I did was click on the language and maps popped up straight away. I did beforehand go into time and date and switch on wifi and then get the mac to find my location then switched it off.
Gonna have a play with maps now to see it the wait was worth while.

Say no more.. upgrading to Mavericks.. any upgrade install is prone to issues.. the Mavericks one is the worst of any recent upgrades.
Lets just try and isolate the problem.
In the setup of the AE, give different names to the two wireless bands.. so go into the airport utility.. click the AE, Click edit.. click the wireless tab.. and now type in a new name.
Try AE24ghz
Then click the wireless options and change the name for the 5ghz..
Make it AE5ghz
Then update the AE.
In the computer.. select either band.. and see if your other clients are affected if they use the band that the Mac is not using.
Alternatively turn off wireless in the macbook and use ethernet.. oh please please have a Mac with an ethernet port.. otherwise buy a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.. it is well worth having. wireless is never to be trusted.

Opera QT4 fonts are terrible..

Just installed qt4 opera from aur and got it loking ok with -style cleanlooks but the fonts are terrible. I disabled core x fonts but still nothing.Heres what i mean:

Comparing the toolbar font to the tabs, it seems they are not anti-aliased. Is there a way to fix this?

Nokia N96 How do I know what maps are in the devic...

Dear all,
Use map loader to download some maps to my N96 then decided I wanted to download some more-how do I know which maps have been downloaded to my device to avoid duplication? Cant seem to be able to check!
Oh and how do I know where map loader is putting my maps on my device?

Correct on your first point but if you download Ireland one week and then again a week later you might just be re-installing the same Map.
Map Loader doesn't say if and when Maps are updated.

Is it just my Z10 or are they all essentially just a must be tethered to working power "not so mobile" phone

Here's the chronology of my phone day that started at 7:15 and ended with the phone completely dead at 10:30 sharp. Obviously, this is not nearly desirable for a phone:
Unplugged from charger with 100% batt 7:15am.
7:30. 85% batt only wrote a memo entry for 1-2 mins.
7:45 phone was dormant screen off the entire past interval. 80 % battery
7:52 after 5 min phone call batt at 75% Note trying to make call took 52 second for phone to populate names associate with numbers on frequently called list (i.e. stored address book entries weren't showing as such and just showing number, not the name).
Updated memo with battery after phone call for 2 min battery @ 70 %. Phone acting like dumb terminal where you type faster than processor can handle and where auto correct really mangled stuff because of the inability for the processor to act normal.
8:43. checked battery status after 45 min motorcycle ride with phone in trunk no missed calls 5 new emails, battery down to 55%.
5 min Internet browsing then meeting 8:55-10:11 left phone at desk (not plugged in). 2 missed calls and 5 emails. Battery down to15%.
Stepped away from desk for 2 phone calls 8 min and 5 min. Phone turned off 3 second after plugging into charger at just before 10:30.
Basically the phone with the Blackberry supplied charger takes longer to charge than to deplete the battery.
I've been a 7+ year Blackberry fan, but this $550 device feels like a bad letdown. It's not acceptable as a work phone. And I spend enough time away from a power source that if anything bad happens, (accident, car failure, etc, I have no way to call for help.) This phone is a tragedy. How many people are like me, less than 2-3 months into the new phone and looking at switching. I've loved the traditional Blackberry usability and consider myself a total poweruser. Now that I've been forced to learn Androidisms courtesy of the new Blackberry OS, Blackberry has already trained me to just get a real Android....
Is there hope, or is this what it's going to stay like? Life's too short for a phone that is this inadequate. Is it just this device, or are all Z10's like that? Calling Blackberry support, they are resigned, not helpful, and there is no movement to switch out my device or otherwise fix things, which implies problems are systemic rather than fixable at the device level.

That is not normal.
remove SD card and see if battery life improves, if it does then backup the data on it and format it in the device and move items back.
Remove emails accounts one at a time and see if battery life improves.
I have 6 email accounts, face book and twitter and mine will last 12 hours or more depending on how much I use it.

Have you run it in a debugger? That will show you exactly what is happening and why.

Last week i've been building a website for our company. However, there is still a problem with our banner/slider. I've uploaded some images and the slider is currently working. But the image maps ,using <map> & <area> taggs, are not functional in FF. They do work in IE so I suppose it should be working correctly.
I've tried using Chrome & Safari but the problem keeps persisting.
Some help would be nice (:
