Is it just too many late nights........
One of the little things that annoyed me at first about iweb was it's inefficiency. If I put an image in my site somewhere it would convert it to a png, which was not too bad because they were of reasonable quality and allowed transparency, even if they were much bigger than the jpg's they replaced.
What was not quite as good was that if I used the image more than once, iweb converted each one rather than putting one image in a common folder. Worst of all was when I linked to a file for download, some files where pretty big and I had numerous links over the site. iweb copies the file you have linked to and publishes it for you (not so bad), but it does it for every link and 6 Mb files with 6 links is a waste of space.
So I decided to fix the multiple linked files, by changing the links to an external page link and manually loading the files to a separate folder. However everytime I changed a link, iweb would change it right back again when I saved or published. After several attempts I assumed that somehow iweb had tagged the object I had linked from to the file I had linked it to and I wasn't going to change it.
Solution was to trash the object that was linked from and drop in a new one and re-link it to an external page. Anyhow the first ones I did were small document icons which were gif images, but was really surprised to see that only one image was published in the common images folder, it stayed a gif and was not converted to a png.
Mmmm strange I thought, it had not done that before, I assumed that maybe this was because it was a gif (think I'd used a tiff before) and I even posted a message to see if any others knew of any other formats that did this.
I've since done the same with some images that were jpg's and now they are being published as jpg's in a common folder. I am absolutely certain this didn't happen before. I'm only half way through relinking for download files, so I am able to look and see what was published before.
I can't believe it but iweb is definitely working differently, anyone else noticed this, or can explain why.
I can't believe it but iweb is definitely working differently, anyone else noticed >this, or can explain why.
What iWeb does is when you drag+drop an image onto a page, if the image is too large to fit, it'll scale it down to says 300x200. When it does that, it'll convert the image to .png and put it the the page_files folder during publish process.
Try this, drop one big image onto the page, open Inspector and select Metrics (the ruler icon) click the Original Size button (now you have one huge image on the page) and publish it.
Guess when the image end up? And in the original size.

Just too many problems, iMovie, iDVD
After working with the same project for the past 2 weeks and getting nowhere, I finally gave up in total frustration and deleted the entire project, one piece at a time. I spent the last hour today starting at, 10:45 Am Alaska time and tracked down every piece of my project, iMovie and iDVD and deleted the whole shebang. Problems kept happening over and over and each time, were getting worse than the last time.
This time, iDVD froze up. It did it last night and again today. After waiting for 9 hours over night, and again 5 hours today for it to finish encoding and to finally burn the project, I ended up doing a "force quit", because iDVD wasn't responding at all. It was highlighted in red on force quit, with the words, ("iDVD not responding") in parenthesis. This told me that the program was locked and would not be able to complete the assigned project, so I force quitted the project and scrapped the entire thing.
Now I'm forced to make another decision. Do I go on and re-enter the video into my computer and start over? Or, do I just say forget it and trash the entire idea of producing an DVD from my video footage all together? I'm ****** off and frustrated at how poorly this new and expensive program is not operating like it was designed and supposed to do. Why did I spend all that money, for a program that doesn't work the way it was designed to? Is anyone else feeling the way I do right now?
Froglips from AlaskaYour not alone. I just spent over a week trying to
burn a project. I have a new iMac and the latest
iLife.....thought I'd be set for awhile however while
trying many different possible solutions for my
problem have spent the last week dancing around
iMovie bugs, iDVD bugs and Quicktime bugs forcing me
to do "workarounds" which take extra time again. I
like alot of things about Apple however people pay
for a workable product and iLife should not cause
people this much pain. I've used software that is 98%
bug-free so I know it can be done but Apple does'nt
seem to be willing to test its software thouroughly
enough on a wide variety of systems and different
circumstances to eliminate the bugs....and so we
....its faithful followers end up being its
"bug-testers". Perhaps it also has to do with the
desire to "pump-out" new versions every 9-16 months
however I would much prefer to wait longer and even
pay reasonably more for a new version that worked
properly. I want a company and software that is
usable, reliable and responsive to its customers.
This is the kind of company I'd be willing to be
faithful to. I've noticed that Apple has a tendency
to either be non-responsive alot of the time to
problems brought up in these forums or to deny that
problems exist. (It's hubris).Thats why sometimes a
new version of iMovie will carry over some bugs from
a previous version. Of course the right way to handle
this would be to acknowledge the problems , then do
everything you can to make sure they dont come up
again. After doing some testing myself between iMovie
2 and iMovie 5......I find iMovie 2 to still be the
fastest and most reliable version however it does"nt
have the "extras" that version 5 has. Instead of
building on the firm foundation of iM2 ....the
foundation was ripped up and we got the disasterous
iMovie 3.(To be fair...iM4 and 5 are at least better
than 3). When phoning Apple Support for assistance
with my latest problem .......my "helper" was trying
to tell me that my Mac was"nt capable of burning a
DVD over 1 hour . I ended up having to read some
passages out of the "Missing Manual" to convince him
otherwise. Apple often tends to say that the people
in these forums only represent a small percentage of
all its users ....tending to dismiss the
problems.......however its also true that only a
fraction of the people having problems come to these
forums for help. Alot more struggle on their
own....ask other people.....or just give up and move
on to some other software that works. As I said
earlier...I'm generally a fan of Apple.....but they
really should wake up and test their products
thouroughly before releasing. I have Final Cut
Express but I like the beauty in the simplicity and
ease of use of iLife. iLife is a great
concept............if only it worked properly.
Having said my say.......all I can suggest is that
if you persist and keep trying different possible
solutions found in this forum, theres a good chance
you'll eventually work it out (as I did). Only you
know if its worth the effort. Good luck.
Thanks Mr. Thompson, for your input. I agree completely with many of the things you said. I too, am a fan of Apple products, the computers especially. But that entheusiasm I once had about them has diminished considerably in light of the problems that seem to be ongoing. I finally gave up completely on the project that I was trying to edit, and I deleted the whole project. Right now I'm trying to decide if it will be worth the effort and time, to reenter my video and try again. I commend you for your diligence and willingness to keep trying and thank you for encouraging me to keep trying, but for now I'll take a break and rest on it before I decide what to do next. -
I have to reinstall keyboard light on my GT 70 laptop just too many times
I mean this happened at least 5 times, something went wrong, my computer shut down or something and my light did not come up anymore
I don't remember this issue by other laptops like HP brand for example. I never needed to re install core drivers at all, they always worked.
But how can a core driver be overwritten or deleted if you suddenly shut down the computer. Just wonder, MSI is the first laptop that this is happening on.
I really had to install the keyboard lights driver at least 5 or 6 times in the last 6 months.Quote from: garfiola on 28-February-14, 19:44:16

Did you ever try doing the EC reset procedure to fix the issue? -
JDeveloperStudio 10.3 -- ADF Faces -- Too many components causes crash
My page has finally gotten so complex that the stack overflows and the application just aborts. I can remove a couple of components and the page works fine. It doesn't seem to matter which components I remove; when I navigate to the page the following appears in my Embedded OC4J Server log.
Debugger connection to debuggee process has been lost.
Process exited.
Debugger disconnected from local process.
The MyPagejspx.java file is over 500K and the class file is about 110K. If I remove some components and get the total MyPagejspx.java file under 500K then the page works again.
The page includes a lot of MapViewer navigation controls and a number of tables that are used to display and edit attribute data. Most of these tables include nested tables inside of their detailStamps. Rows in a table of streets have tables of sites. This is where things start to fail.
Sometimes (but not always) I get a message that tells me that could not find the StackOverflowError class so I have tried adding a -Xss1024k option to my Java options but this didn't help; neither did -Xss2048k.
I am highly confident that the problem is not caused by the code itself as I can remove any panelGroup or panelForm set on the page and it works. I put any back and it fails. It is just too many components. Everything compiles fine but JDeveloper just disconnects from the application when the page is opened.
So ... any ideas of what I might do to continue developing this page or do I have to break my application into more pages (not what the users want).

So everytime I watch a movie or listen to music when I use my earphones. A song keeps playing by itself and Siri activates by itself without me even touching it. So I deactivated Siri. And now it's the voice control that keeps coming on. I don't know if my phone is haunted, or there's something wrong with my earphones/earphone socket/jack (or whatever you call where you put it in the earphones), or is it just because I dropped my phone too many times. And I don't want to reset my phone if that's what I have to do. By the way I have an iPhone 4s
If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
If there are specific tasks you need help with:

Is a good resource.

I updated my Mac with a Maverick, but my iphoto cannot be used any more Is there a way to send my old iphoto albums to icloud or is it just too late? My iphoto icon is in my dock, but it's crossed out, and won't operate.
Hi Barry!
I owe you a proper Thank you! You were right about me needing to update my software. I have been pretty clueless about many of the computer applications I've heard of, but I've learned a bit by doing what you suggested. I was able to "fix" my iphoto and a I got a few other nice changes after updating the 3 free updates that were available to me. Thanks so much! - One thing that was so wonderful about getting my iphoto "back" was being able to share my photos with my Dad for this weekend-during his 88th birthday!
I'm glad I found you in our "community". Hopefully, I can learn enough to help others too, eventually.
All the best to you,

3 websites gave me this message:- "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete." I chose to stop the script each time. However I have stopped too many scripts in Firefox and I can't open any website in Firefox anymore. I just get blank pages. What do I do now?
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
#Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer#w_uninstall-firefox|Uninstall Firefox]] article.
'''IMPORTANT:''' On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do '''not''' check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox [[Profiles|user profile data]] will be removed from your computer.
After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:
* '''(On 32-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
* '''(On 64-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox''
#Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
#In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
#Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
#* On 32-bit Windows, double-click the '''Program Files''' folder to open it.
#* On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the '''Program Files (x86)''' folder.
#Look for a '''Mozilla Firefox''' folder. If you find one, right-click it and select ''Delete'' and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you! -
Just upgraded and iPhoto said it has to upgrade library but keeps freezing. Have tried it too many times now and I need those photos ASAP HELP!!
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

veledromSounds like you have an exception in the code and not protecting the resource - which means resource leakage.
In your case, not closing TCP socket connections to the SMTP server. This then results in the SMTP server refusing to allow you more connections.
Or.. there is simply too many concurrent connections from different users/sessions/processes at the same time and it cannot service your connection.
PL/SQL does not specifically support a resource protection block. These are typically in the form of:
allocate resource;
try
use resource;
finally
release resource; The intention being that should sosmething go pear shape while using that resource, the resource is protected and released - thus preventing that resource from leaking all over the code and the server.
In PL/SQL we can only achieve this by creating an exception handler, releasing the resource (if allocated) and then re-raising the exception.
Suggest that you consider this approach whenever you allocate anything in PL/SQL - from a TCP socket handle to LOB locater or ref cursor. -
I just installed Maverick and I'm not happy. Too many other things not working. How can Iget back to 10.6.9?
If you have a backup, it is very easy to revert back to your previous system setup.
If you don't, then the downgrade is much harder to accomplish as it require a complete clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Before going down that laborious road! maybe you tell us what issues you are having.
In additon, Please download, install and run Etrecheck.
Etrecheck was developed as a simple Mac diagnostic tool by a regular Apple Support forum user and contributor named Etresoft.
Etrecheck is a small, unobstrusive app that compiles a snapshot of your entire Mac hardware system and installed software.

I just bought anothe macbook and tried to add it to my home share but got a message about too many devises. How do I deauthorize machine I no longer have as I am sure some of those I threw out had itunes?
You'll have to log in to your iTunes account. On the Account Information page click on the 'Deauthorize All' button. You will have to re-authorize all the computers you presently want to associate with the iTunes account. (See screen shot below.)
In the future, to avoid having to deauthorize all and then re-authorize, select 'Deauthorize This Computer…' from the 'Store' menu on the computer you no longer want to use with the iTunes account. -

on christmas connected my fully working 4th gen 20gig click wheel to new (not apple) clock radio.... seemed to work fine with new device.... all functions... 12 hours later ipod still in charge mode.....(default for clock radio) but ipod should have fully charged and stayed in full charge state......
tried to operate it and it would not..... removed ipod and screen went blank and ipod would not come on and would not respond to wall charger... tried for a week to get it to wake up....
figured it was dead so went out and bought new nano.......
tried 20gig one last time last night and it came on and reset after i just pushed center select button once.......20gig then worked fine... put it back into clock radion and it froze up blank again..... held menu button and select button down for full 30 secs and pop it came back on... reset and is now working fine on its own again..... have battery hack on and it is showing full battery at 500 plus so battery is good... but something in clock radio as it keeps ipod in default charge mode... (or keeps power to docking socket for charging) seems to lock up ipod..... 2 strikes out i won't try again...... but now i have two ipods and p'oed i spent the money for the nano......
i guess we have to avoid after market ipod products for at least older ipods.
don't want to try nano since click wheel is failing with clock radio repeatedly....will call clock radio manufac but presume they will tell me it should work and i must have a personal problem
bewareGeeze, how many is too many....
There's an Apple article on this in the knowledgebase.
I'll try to dig it up and post a link here.
To summarize it, it basically said something to the effect of
"You can never have too many iPods. Keep buying Apple iPods. Buy as many as you can afford."
Something like that
