Is it legal to unlock an ipad with icloud lock
I bought this iPad Air 16GB but it has an iCloud lock, I know a shop where the can unlock it but my question is:
Is it legal to unlock it then use it as a new iPad?
If not I might sell it as parts or spares.

Note also that though hacking the iPad may be legal (though it depends on the laws in your country), and assuming that the shop can do what they claim - I've not seen anyone successfully remove the Activation Lock- it's quite possible that if you can't get the previous owner to remove the lock for you that the iPad has been stolen, and just the possession of stolen property is illegal in many countries.

So, the article you have there, HT4895, is pretty good. Just look at the FAQ section of it.
But basically, you will want to create a backup on your computer through iTunes...Just plug your current iPad into it and make sure your iPad and iTunes are logged in with the same Apple ID. At that point, just create a backup.
When you get your new iPad, and before you plug it in or set it up, follow the directions in this link to change your Apple ID. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621?viewlocale=en_US
Once you have that done, plug your new iPad into your computer to sync up with iTunes. Follow the directions for Restore from Backup and it should bring all that info back to your new iPad.
And changing your Apple ID email info will allow you to have your own!!! This should solve all your issues and GL!!! -

A reset should help: Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart.

How can I unlock an IPod with a locked screen that says Will open in 21,889,406 minutes? It was in our companies lost and found a couple years ago. Was never claimed. If I could unlock it, I could possible find out whose it is/was or at least use it. Not sure what model or what operating system it has. Was lost in 2010 in the fall of that year.

If you want to wipe your iPad back to new in box, i.e., ready to be set up as a new device.
1. Turn off Find My iPhone.
2. Then go to settings > general > erase > erase all content and data
You'll have to confirm you really want to do this, but once it's complete, the iPad will be back to way it was when you took it out of the box for the first time.

Not sure if you just have an issue with your setup or something else.
I had an issue where my numbers and pages documents were not syncing on my ipad, but were on my iphone.
I turned icloud off an on, reset the apps, even deleted them and reinstalled them. I also checked all of the other icloud setting.
Only thing that worked (and it might be just a fluke) I emailed from my iphone a numbers document to my ipad. I opened then closed the document and the app. When I opened it back up it started importing my icloud documents.
If it is a settings issue then you need to be sure you have icloud setup in your mail settings. Has to be there and active. -

The phone is useless to you without the previous owners information. Either get a hold of the owner and get the info or return the phone and get your money back. -

setup a different user on the computer and make sure it has ADMIN rights Start>control panel>user accounts>manage accounts>Create new user, check the box for admin on a windows computer

Help! Syncing iPad with iCloud after setting it to sync with iTunes
I bought my iPad yesterday and synced it with iTunes. Now I want to sync it with iCloud (I have my iPhone 4 backed up in iCloud). Do I need to restore my iPad?.
I don't actually play games on my iPad or phone but I believe that games need to work through the game centre for data to sync like that. Although its also technically possible for games to do it through document and data syncing in the iCloud system preferences, but I don't know if any games have taken advantage of the possibility yet.

You will have to upgrade to Lion v10.7.2
Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements > Apple - OS X Lion - Technical specifications
But you can setup iCloud on your iPad anytime. You do not need to upgrade your Mac to Lion in order to use iCloud on your iPad.

Unable to link iPad with iCloud

I father got an iPad2 running iOS 5.0.1 ( Didn't wish to upgrade as my iPhone 4 gives more issues after upgrading to iOS 5.1.1). The problem is that am unable to setup iCloud account with it. I created a new apple id for my father. But when I use that to create an account with iCloud under settings it just ejects itself outta the settings option and returns to the homepage.
