Is it legal to use GarageBand loops in a radio show?

I'm wondering if it is legal for me to use GarageBand loops as short jingles in a radio show. For instance, something like this:
"Thanks Sylvia for your call. Tell us what's on your mind by dialling 8888 8888 or send an email to [email protected]" *Tennessee Twister Short plays* "It's 22 to 9. How are you John?"
They would be used standalone to make a short break between parts of the show.

  • How to use garageband loops in final cut pro x

    I have O/S 10.6.8
I have looked in the following for garageband loops, but see nothing.
    1. Mac HD > Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple > Apple Loops for Garage Band,
    2. Mac HD > Library > Application Support > GarageBand > Apple Loops > Apple Loops for GarageBand,
    and
    3. Username > Library > Audio > Apple Loops > User Loops. (cannot see any files here)
I am wanting to access these Apple loops to use in Final Cut Pro X.
Do I need to 'unhide' these files

I appreciate your help. As you can guess, I am new to the Apple discussion groups.
I tried unhiding files with Terminal, but that did not appear to help in this situation
I did find an answer that suits me for the mean time.
    First  -  (to see loops)
to see the Apple loops on my computer with Finder-
    -1 open Finder
-2 Click on 'Go' icon at top of page
-3 This brings drop down box
-4 Click 'Go to Folder' and enter the following
           /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for Garageband
Second  - to get them into Final Cuty Pro X
Create new folder in     /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple
called                         Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro
Now copy all files from    'Apple Loops for Garageband'
to       'Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro'
By creating the folder 'Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro', it livens its existing link within Final Cut Pro X,
so when you are in Final cut and go to the 'Music and Sound' icon you can now see the folder has changed from gray to blue, and you can see any files you copied into it.
Cheers to all the help from others in trying to understand Finder.

Yes, you can use GarageBand loops for commercial purposes. Here's the Apple Doc:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2931
(Basically the only thing it excludes is to re-distribute the loops as loops.)
I don't know about the YouTube form, maybe you just fill in "Apple Loops", they certainly have come across this before.

Is it legal to publish (for free or for a price) a song made using garageband autoplay loops? I edited one of the loops a touch. Just don't want to get in any legal trouble.
    Thanks

Yes yu can use the loops in your work and publish work using the loops. Only you cannot distribute the loops als stand-alone loops, see this Apple support article:

  • Can I use the loops/jam packs from MainStage in GarageBand?

    Hi,
Apologies if this is a totally stupid question (I am a Mac newbie).
I have GarageBand, and have been told that the Jam Packs for it are as part of MainStage. My question is can I use the loops provided in MainStage in GarageBand to make tracks, or do I have to fork out for Logic as well? Also, if I can use them, is it easy to transfer the loops to GarageBand?
    Thanks
    Andy

The jampacks that are downloaded for MainStage can indeed be used in GarageBand without having to buy Logic. You shouldn't need to transfer anything... they are installed in a spot where MainStage and GB can both see them.

  • HT2931 GarageBand loop as-is on a VideoGame ?

Hi ,  does anyone know if a GarageBand loop as-is can be used on
    a VideoGame without licensing troubles?
If not how much modification it requires to be considered my custom loop?
    Thank you

that might be techinically legal, but it's kind of on the edge. if you could put a drum beat behind it, or add something lightly in the background (a synth pad?), it would be better.

  • GB won't open- This is what I get... Path does not exist: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index  st: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index w/out this directory you cannot use the Loop Browser

Path does not exist: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index  st: /Library/Audio/Apple Loops Index w/out this directory you cannot use the Loop Browser.  Then I get this message...
    Instrument Library Invalid
GarageBand Ecpects a valid instrument foledr in /Libraty/Application Support/GarageBand
Please choose a valid instrument Library folder or quit and re-install GB
    Any solutions?

Is this a new installation of GarageBand or has it worked before on the same computer?
Or have you transferrred your GarageBand from a different computer?
The error message is saying, that your GarageBand installation is incomplete. There are essential foldrs missing in your system library.
Check, if indeed both folders are missing or if only the permissions are set incorrectly.
Your system library (the folder "System" directly on your system drive) should have the following folders inside the folder "Audio", and they need to be readable by the system and by administrators.
And in the folder /Library/Application Support there should be the Instrument Library.
If these folders do not exist (or no longer exist), restore them from your backup-  If your GarageBand version is a new installation, the application may not hve been downloaded or installed completely, then reinstall GarageBand.
What is your GarageBAnd version, and how did you install it originally?

  • Problem Downloading Extra GarageBand Loops

Just bought a new iMac and ran into a problem downloading the extra greyed out loops. The issue occurred because I upgraded GarageBand through Software Update before downloading the extra files. After the upgrade Software Update no longer gives you an opportunity to download the loops even though they are still greyed out in the loops window.
The solution was a re-install of GarageBand from CD, & avoiding software update until the extra files were downloaded.

I just ran into this and managed to solve it, but it was a pain.  Here's my situation:
    New iMac 27 inch
Used Migration Assistant to transfer all user accounts, user files, and applications off of an older (late 2006) iMac that had been upgraded to Snow Leopard and iLife '09
When trying to install the full set of Apple Loops and Software Instruments, I got the infamous "run Software Update but nothing ever downloads" problem.  After doing a lot of looking on these boards and elsewhere, I decided to uninstall GarageBand '11 and reinstall.  Uninstalling GarageBand '11 is a pain too; here's what I did:
Deleted GarageBand from the Applications folder
    Deleted the /Library/Application Support/GarageBand folder
Deleted the /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for GarageBand folder
Deleted anything related to GarageBand in /Library/Receipts
And everything in ~/Library/Application Support/GarageBand (this is optional I think)
I then reinstalled GarageBand from the second install disk that came with my new computer, fired up GarageBand, and downloaded the recommended update.  Finally, I opened up a new Loops project; in the Loops Browser, selected one of the missing loops; got the "run Software Update now or later" dialog, and said "Later"; quit GarageBand.  Finally, I opened Software Update, and lo and behold! the near-mythical GarageBand Loops and SW Instruments update was there, all 1.2 GB of it!
I wish that Apple would come out with a patch for this, but in the meantime, if you're situation is similar to mine (upgraded GarageBand '11), you might try the deinstall / reinstall route and see if it works...

  • Softwareupdate doenst load garageband loops

Hello, when i try to download the missing Garageband loops, the appstore update opens and nothing happens. Can someone help me please ?

Have you moved the GarageBand application from the Applications folder or renamed it?  If yes, put it back into Applications, not into a subfolder.
Also, make sure you are using an administrator account, and disable all firewalls and antivirus software.
Sign into the App Store with the Apple ID you used to set up your Mac originally.
Reload the Software Update Pane in the AppStore using by pressing the  ⌘R keys.

  • GarageBand Loops Projects Missing

I have a MacBook Air, trying to creat some loops using GarageBand, but I couldn't find Loops projects. Thanks
My GarageBand looks different than others
Here is a image I found on Google

    Hey VectorC,
Thanks for the question. This is expected behavior, as you have a more recent version of GarageBand (you’ll notice that all of the options are different, not just Loops). Here are some screenshots from the latest version of GarageBand:

  • Original Garageband Loops missing

None of the original GB loops appear in the browser; only the jampack loops I downloaded from .Mac are there. I located the loops in the /Library/Application Support/Garageband folder.
My GB app is working from the ~/Library/Application Support/Garageband folder, so I copied the files there. They still don't show up.
I tried reinstalling GB from the iLife 06 DVD, but I get the message that GB cannot be installed on my computer.
    Any ideas?

Yes, it is set to "All."
I also deleted the com.apple.garageband files from preferences.
I would delete Garageband with CleanApp and reinstall it, but last time i tried a reinstall, I got a message that [Garageband 3] could not be installed on this computer.
I hope to upgrade @ January, but I'd like to edit some Christmas videos with VOs and some music, It's a lot handier to use Apple Loops than to cut and paste from other sources.
Thanks for getting back to me

  • Has anyone used Garageband on a new MBP?

very interested in knowing the limitations. How many tracks of software instruments/loops can you get?
Has anyone tried playing their songs made on a G5 Quad or hi end G5 ( with many effects and tracks) on the MPB? and what are the problems, limitations? Gliches?

I use garageband all the time to record guitar tracks/vocal tracks. It really works great with my MBP. I use a presonus firebox with it too and all works really nicely; every once in awhile it will fall out of sync, but not much anymore. I've loaded up only about 7-9 tracks at any given time and it will play them all with no problem. The CPU usage graph doesn't even come close to getting pegged either! I found that better performance came when I chose the small buffer size. I think that if you plan on having ton of instruments at the same time, Garageband is probably not the way.
So far I haven't found any limitations to Garageband. It does everything I want it to - record stuff. I haven't used a Quad or G5 with Garageband so I don't know if they would be faster/better. My MBP works great though.
