Is it me or has anyone else found that the iOS 7 system is not an improvement but a disaster in the calandar app?

Apple bring back the ios 6 version of the calandar.
The ios 7 version stinks as you can not view daily activities clearly,

  • Has anyone else found that Sony XAVC 4K files are flagged as camera files in Import?

Has anyone else found that Sony XAVC 4K files are flagged as camera files in Import?
It sems that because they are being seen as a camera it is not possible to leave them in place on import?
I have already backed up the camera files onto Thunderbolt drives and therefore I don't want them to be moved again!!
Can I force FCPX to see the Ext HDD as a volume not a Camera?
    Thank you
    Jules

    Hi Tom
    Thank you for your reply,
Surely all files originated from a camera? If I back them up to an external drive and clone them onto another drive for editing with FCPX, I don't expect them to be seen as camera files which FCPX then copies again just so that I can edit them. I just want to leave them in place, but FCPX doesn't give me that option.
It seems that FCPX has failed at the first hurdle. It is forcing me to have to buy extra storage just so that FCPX can copy them on import. Surely, if FCPX can handle them natively then why does it have to move them?

  • Has anyone else found that OS 8.0 has slowed the opening of apps considerably?

I just downloaded the latest OS for my ipad and found that it slows the opening of apps and the opening of web pages considerably. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hi there bitsko26,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • Has anyone else noticed that you can't download a single song via ITunes Match on the iPod app?

The ability to download a single song has been removed. Now it only downloads if you're playing it. So if I want to download a few different songs to play I have to go back into the app at the end of each song and select a new one to play. I can't create a playlist by downloading all the songs I want to listen to. Basically it has become a one song at a time service. Aka worthless. This needs to be fixed. If I can't get the songs I want onto the phone then why would I do anything but sync with my library since I can do that all at once. This may be the most unexplainable change I've seen on any apple update.

I have an audiobook that is over 100 tracks long and a few GBs in size.  I simply cannot believe that there is no way that I can download a single track from that without having to make a playlist for the whole thing.  I simply cannot stream it because my cell provider's 3G speeds just aren't fast enough to allow any tracks to be played without skips and my docks won't recognize a streaming track being played as legit so I can't listen through my car unless the track is downloaded.  Plus I don't want to eat up many GBs on my phone when I only need a couple of tracks per day.
I don't know why Apple decided to take away the individual track download feature that iOS5 had.  It was perfect for me.  This new system in iOS 6+ just doesn't work and makes me want to quit using iTunes Match altogether (since I can't just manually drag the tracks I want to listen to to my phone before I leave the house).  Maybe it was because Apple didn't like seeing all of the little iCloud buttons next to each track?  Perhaps just give us a setting to turn it back on if we want to.  Apple has ruined iTunes Match for me.  I really hope they bring this feature back in the next iOS update.

  • HT4356 Has anyone else found that after ios7 download, my HP 5520 AirPrint printer is now listed with all the networks that my ipad  can see. This means that I have to change networks to the printer in order to print.

After downloading ios7 my printer occurs in the list of wifi networks. In order to print I have to go to settings and "join" the HP 5520 network. Then, when I am finished, I have to return and re-join my router's network.

    Hi Newent1,
Under a normal Airprint configuration, the printer should be joined to your primary wireless network as a client. That way, you should not have to switch networks to print (print data goes from iPad => router => printer). If something has changed in your configuration, you may need to set your printer back up to rejoin your network. You may find the troubleshooting portion of the following article helpful:

You need to give a lot more information about the media specifications and the project properties you're using in the different projects.

  • Has anyone else ever had a problem where you had to perform 2 datasocket writes before the datasocket read would pick up the change?

I have a local VI that is simply a control that writes to the datasocket server whenever the control value changes.(the dataitem on the server is permanent - its initialized and never released by the server)
In the same local VI I have a datasocket read polling a different dataitem on the server.
The remote machine has a VI that reads the permanent dataitem on the server once per second.
For some reason, after adding the local VI mentioned above, the remote VI stopped picking up the first change in the permanent variable.
I'd start both the local and remote VIs...
Then change the local control and the remote V
I would not update - as if the datasocket write(upon adjusting the control) did not take place. So I'd change the control value again - this time the remote VI would update to this new value. And from here on out - the remote VI would update correctly. This problem only occurs when the local VI is first started up.
What in the heck is going on?

Gorka is right, this came up on Info-LV a few days ago. Someone
described a similar problem. I replied that I had seen similar
behaviour, reported it to NI, and they verified a bug. There is no fix
yet, but they are aware of it and will fix it. No anticipated release
    date for the fix.

  • Adobe is great software but has anyone else noticed that Corel has a better line drawing tool?

Adobe is great software but has anyone else noticed that Corel has a better line drawing tool? I end up doing all my line drawing in Corel because it is so simple and then importing it into adobe. You would think, with all these updates that they are constantly doing Adobe would think to simplify it's pen tool. I'm talking about the pen tool in illustrator. Don't even get me started on the bloody rubbish pen tool they've got in photoshop. It makes deep etching something properly a really agonising task.

I'm not sure that I followed everything, but you got a replacement phone and continue to experience problems? It sounds like a logical move would be to have AT&T replace your SIM card. I would doubt that the size/fit is an issue, these things are a standard size, but replacing the SIM will have an impact on the network set-up that might be the root cause.

  • Has anyone else noticed that Adobe Camera Raw 7.x exhibits odd behavior compared to version 6.x?

I have found no discussion of this subject on Adobe's forums, so I am asking here. I find that Adobe Camera Raw 7.x's "auto" mode frequently produces overexposed images with lots of blowouts necessitating much more manual tweaking than was required with the older 6.x series of plug-ins. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

  • TS3988 My text is all scrambled in iCloud. Has anyone else had this problem? I can read messages okay but the recipients name and everything else is garbled text.

When I open iCloud now (Running OS 10/7/5 Lion) I can read the body of an email message but all my headings and other text are totally scrambled in strange characters, etc. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a known fix other than a complete re-install?

Apple is aware of the issue and is expected to release 7.0.3 next week to address iMessage issues.
In the meantime I have found that a good old fashion reset cures it for a while.

  • Has anyone else noticed that the iOS 6 Maps App is missing the area code for many places it has listed?

If I try to look up a local business on the Maps App it drops a pin on all of the locations matching my search parameters. However, when I get details about a dropped pin, the phone number is usually missing the area code! For example, if the phone number is +1 (123) 555-5555 it would show up as +1 (555) 555-5. This makes it impossible to call directly from the maps app or to copy and paste infront of a manually entered area code (because of the '+1'). Has anyone else noticed this?

Have you checked to make sure that your region settings are correct?

  • Has anyone else found Apple's Pages to have a really bad spelling/grammer check?

I am an Mac user of less than a year and have been very annoyed with Apple's Pages as I have used WIndows Microsoft Office for all of my ife. I have found numerous words misspelled, but not marked with a red line. I also think the green underlining for things such as "informal writing" or "jagon" to be unneccessary. Does anyone have the same problems? Does anyone know if Apple is doing anything about it?

Proofreading (grammar check) and Spelling check are separate functions, with separate on-off switches. You'll find them in the Edit menu"
The spelling switch is in the submenu immediately above this one. Selecting the item toggles the item between 'checked' (on) to 'unchecked' (off).
Accepting spelling as 'correct' requires only that the word is included in the spelling dictionary. If you see errors that the spell check does not mark, then the error might be of the type "there" used for "their", "soul" for "sole" or similar. Or it could mean your system language (and consequently, your spelling dictionary) is set to a language other than the one in which you see the spellings as correct. Or it could mean that you or someone else using your machine saw a word marked as incorrect and told the spell check to 'learn' that word. Once learned, that string of letters will be recognized as 'correct' until the spell check is told to 'unlearn' it.

  • Has anyone else noticed that Iphone 3G tray is larger than AT&T's sim card?

    Hello,
Just a brief history of my iphone to start. Purchased in December of 09 via Best Buy. About 3 months ago I started to have connectivity issues with the Iphone. I would not receive notices of people calling and my text messages would come 12-48 hrs later than when they were sent. I called AT&T first regarding the issue. They pointed the finger at Apple and said it was their issue, I felt that it was their issue. I blamed their 3G network for the issue, as well as stating that they do not keep their end of the bargain regarding the best 3G network. I threatened a class action lawsuit against them regarding the false claims of their cellular network in Wisconsin being available to my area. That aroused someone because before I knew it I was being told that I would get a new phone. I received the new phone within 5 days. The phone I received is no better than my previous iphone. Same issues as stated above, as well as searching for service, showing one bar with the edge symbol, and having the phone remove the edge symbol when making a call. It's ridiculous to say the least. So one of my questions is, can Apples hardware or software be the issue or is it a case of AT&T network being non compatible with Apples hardware or vice versa? Let me also state that its not just me with these problems where I live(Area code 53559) but others as well with the Iphone 3G. Here is the funny part, one of my friends has the 3Gs and his phone does great where I live, 4-5 bars constantly to my one or none. This brings me to believe that the 3Gs hardware is different some how? Antennae?etc. Is this true? I'm at my ropes end trying to get my phone to work like it should. I'm also exhausted dealing with the blame game between Apple and AT&T. If anyone has any answers or advice I would appreciate it very much. Regarding the Subject of this post, does anyone else's card come up short of fitting(Could this contribute to the connectivity issues?) the tray perfectly front to rear?

  • Has anyone else noticed that Software Update is not requiring a password to install updates?

I noticed this started after the 10.6.6 update on all my Macs.  Anyone else experiencing this?

    Thomas A Reed wrote:
The whole point of the password is to prevent software from installing without the user or admin definitively accepting that it is ok to do so.
Actually, it is to give access to areas that you don't normally have access to, and in the case of updates coming straight from Apple and installed from an admin account, it has been deemed safe not to request a password.  I believe those updates are verified by the system somehow, so they cannot be malicious unless someone hacks Apple, and then you'd still think nothing of giving your password anyway.  There's no reason to ask for a password in this case.
I understand this.  It protects the "protected" parts of the system.  But I still think that you should have the last say even if Apple is as trusted as they are.  At the end of the day it is still your computer.  I deal with hardware that requires firmware and software on a regular basis, and just because the company says it is ok to do an update, does not always make it appropriate to do so.  A lot of times it causes more harm then good.  There have been several cases (like iPhoto) recently where you may want to hold off on an update, and allowing all the packages to install in a bundle without a password opens you up for potential issues.
    Thomas A Reed wrote:
anyone can come along in your house and run updates without your knowledge
If you've got untrusted people using your admin account, you have bigger problems than someone installing an Apple software update without your knowledge.  If you are security-minded, you don't do that, and thus this issue becomes moot, and if you're not security-minded, then the issue is moot because you don't care enough to secure your computer.
Perhaps that read different from how it was intended to sound.  My intention for that statement was not to suggest that I do not fully trust my family, but rather that they may not know what they are doing.  Surely you have someone in your family that comes to you for computer advice?  The password was an added security feature that gave me piece of mind from one of those "I don't know what just happened all I did was..." moments.  If I wasn't security minded, do you think I would waste my time expressing an opinion about a security issue?

this opens a door for OSX to automatically add these updates in the future without your consent as long as Apple deems them appropriate
Don't you think that's a little paranoid?  Why would Apple do that?  Microsoft tries to copy Apple, not the other way around.
Actually no I don't think it is paranoid.  I do agree that Microsoft copies Apple in every which way they can, and I am a 100% non-Windows household.  I simply see this as a potential pitfall that Apple has opened up.  Even though I do love, admire, and trust Apple, at the end of the day they are a business, and in such a decision could be made to "protect" its user base by allowing OSX to automatically add any updates they deem necessary whenever they want in order to "protect" the perception of their product.  As I stated above, not all updates are wanted right away.
