Is it meant to be this difficult to get started?

I've known about the capabilities of IQ for a long time, but never quite got round to working on it. With the introduction of the Analytics Edition of Crystal Server, it looks like the time is right. My background is 20 years of Crystal, including the Enterprise (SAP BI) products from first release, MS SQL since 6.5, QlikView, SSIS & C#.
However, all that's been on Windows, it seems that IQ is mostly used on Unix. Maybe that explains my problems so far.
The quickstart documentation gets no further than creating a trivial database and loading data from a flat file. Then it leaps into all sorts of stuff I don't need to worry about quite yet.
All I want to do is import data from MS SQL Server 2012, just copying the tables that already exist. My expectation had been some sort of wizard or UI that allowed me to select the tables in the source to have them created in the destination, then have the data import. Something like the wizards in QlikView that generate your initial script. I can't even find out the definition of what should be in the sql.ini file.
Sybooks on line hints at lots of stuff, but never gets around to an explanation.
I've found a variety of long winded Youtube videos that explain very little at the basic level before leaping into optimization.
At the moment, I have a vile UI (written in flash!) and an equally vile query tool to write script. I can't find any step by step documentation beyond 'load the ready rolled demo data'. Most of the docs I have found aren't even for version 16.
Please tell me I've missed a treasure trove of documentation, or a selection of getting started guides.

SAP PowerDesigner can reverse engineer an MS SQL Server database and generate a script to create the IQ schema for you. Use Microsoft DTS to extract the data to a flat file, then have PowerDesigner generate the LOAD TABLE scripts for you. Run the LOAD TABLE scripts as described in the IQ Quick Start Guide. Not a built in wizard, but not too many steps.

Verify this account - problems getting started in iCloud

I have a valid Apple ID -- my primary email address. This is what I use for all my iTunes purchases.
I also have a 'nickname' Apple ID that I use here in these discussion forums. That nickname is affiliated with my primary email address.
Awhile ago, I did set up a MobileMe account for myself, but I no longer use it.
When I started to go through the motions of setting up iClound, it defaults to my @me.com address. I changed it to my valid Apple ID, my primary email address. But iCloud isn't validating. It keeps telling me to 'check my email for the next instructions.' I get the same error when I try to setup Find My Friends. Even clicking on the 'resend email' button doesn't do anything. I've confirmed that no email went to my spam folder.
What gives?

Update:
I go to appleid.apple.com, and I can log on with my nickname I use for my Apple ID. It lists my primarly email address correctly, and has a green 'verified' checkmark next to it.
Below it is a box stating "Make your Apple ID and primary email address one and the same" with a bit yellow triangle icon with an exclamation point inside. It lists my primary email address, and I click on 'submit' and .... nothing happens.
I've set up my gmail address as an alternative address, and that was verified.
Why is Apple making this so hard?

Sorry for these very very basics but I failed to resolve these myself though I did my best.
I try to make a GPIB i/o on a block diagram.How to ?
I cannot find such in the functions menu.
I find only a vi for typing direct commands ( which does work ).
I tried many many variances, but end of all i get stuck, e.g. at : file>new>instrument i/o(gpib)>read and display>right click>controls>search>i/o....i get stuck.
I am afraid I do miss a lot.....
I have a NI GPIB PCI 488.2 card and some HPIB instuments.
The PCI card and the NI 488.2 drivers work.
I can read the instruments' dev.#.
How should I implement instruments' r/w commands in an i/o block diagram ( if possible at all ).
I cannot use VISA ( I
assume C++ or VB is needed for that, which is beyond my capabilities ).

LabVIEW can do VISA and NI-488.2 directly; you don't need C++ or VB.
First of all, you should see if there are instrument drivers available for your instruments. There are thousands of free drivers available on http://ni.com/idnet/. Search there first, because if you can find a driver for any of your instruments, it will save you a lot of time.
If you can't find a driver, you will have to send and receive messages from the instrument directly, and this is where NI-VISA and NI-488.2 come in. The simplest way to get started with this direct communcation is to use the "Instrument I/O Assistant". This is in your "Functions->Input" palette, and you can read about it in the online help.
The Instrument I/O Assistant will bring up a dialog to select th
e device, send it a command and parse the results. Once you click "OK", it creates an Express VI on your diagram for you to incorporate into the rest of your application.

Yes the phone belongs to me. It was purchased from United Kingdom Vodafone to West Africa, i had to factory unlock to use any sim in it. so it belongs to me. I did the activation myself, now after updating my iphone to the latest update, it required a user id and password to activate the phone, but anytime i enter the details, it tells me the user Id is not correct but the password is correct..

Connect iPod touch 2G to Reciever using RCA's? It cannot be this difficult?

Need to connect iPod touch 2G to my reciever using RCA's?
But +I do not want to use the headphone jack....+ (I heard I will get higher sound quality using the bottom multi-pin connector on the bottom of the touch going to a left and right RCA's) +I have uncompressed (AIFF) files on my iPod touch and want the best sound quality possible.+
I found a couple companies that make these cables with one being the Cables To Go 4-Feet RCA Stereo to Dock Connector Cable for iPod and also the Nyko Stereo Link for iPod, but from reading the reviews on Amazon neither of them will work with the Touch 2g (or the iPhone for that matter).
I am also open to a simple dock of some sort that would provide me RCA outputs. Seems as if Apples universal dock would be great but it seems to have NO RCA outputs on the back of it.
If anyone has a solution to this I would be very very happy!

As I stated above, the docking connector is not a "true" line-out, it does have a volume-tap so the volume control will work. It probably is somewhat cleaner than the headphone out (haven't measured it), but it is not going to be a significant difference as any improvement you get from the connector is severely limited by the DAC in the iPod.
You get no improvement in sound from using the pins on the 30 pin connector versus a 3.5 mm jack. If you buy a Universal Dock it is passing the signal from the 30 pin dock to a 3.5mm female jack, then you use the 3.5mm to RCA. Going directly from the dock connector to RCA will not improve the sound, the 3.5mm connector is not inferior in itself to the RCA connectors.
The A/V kit will get you the ability to watch your videos on your TV and output the stereo signal to your receiver. If you want even better sound for your music, get an Apple TV and use the HDMI cable to transfer the video and sound:

Adobe Presenter - Why does Adobe have to be this difficult

Well, today I wanted to sign up to use Presenter...... I did my 30 days and I WAS ready to make a commitment!!!! That was until I went to make my commitment and Presenter is NOT listed anywhere!!! So how am I to purchase this product when it's NOT an option.
Even more so, when I try and contact Adobe to get some help, this is the only place I can go!!!!
Why does it have to be this difficult? Why can I not contact someone that can help me????
I guess maybe I need to more on to Articulate. I'm sure they would be happy to take my money!

HT2529 This morning Voice Over started running on my computer, but when I go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES/INTERNATIONAL ACCESS the Voice Over option is off, so I turned it on and then off, but it's still on. What else can I do to make it stop?

This morning Voice Over started running on my computer when I turned it on. I did not turn Voice Over. Could I have hit a combination of keys on the keyboard that accidentally turned it on? When I went to System Preferences and chose Internation Access it showed that Voice Over was not even on. I turned it on and turned it off to reset it, and it is still running. How is this possible, and how to I get rid of it?

I went to System Preferences, Universal Access, and then VoiceOver for the fiftieth time after you said to check VoiceOver Utility to see if I saw anything odd. On The VoiceOver screen it was actually saying that VoiceOver was on. All day the VoiceOver option was off, and the computer talked to me everytime I logged in. I tried turning it on and off and it still talked to me. Now the VoiceOver option was on, so I turned it off again. Weird! I had tried several combinations of keys again and again as the tech instructed me to do, but we couldn't turn it off, but I have to admit that after my phone went dead I tried everything I could imagine; so maybe in trying to turn the talking off I turned the VoiceOver Option on. Anyway, somewhere along the way it quite talking to me.
Let me ask you a couple of questions. When I clicked on VoiceOver Utility, after turning VoiceOver off, the screen message says: Speak the following greeting after login: Welcome to Mac OSX. VoiceOver is running. I was assuming that it meant VoiceOver was running. That is what it is saying right now. It's not talking to me anymore, but the screen says this whether the VoiceOver icon is on or off. What is this all about. Is it telling me that Voice Over is still running when I see this, or what? After all, even when the OFF icon was chosen the computer still spoke to me when I hit each key upon logging in. After you read the rest of this you will understand why I am asking if it is still running even though it's not talking to me.
There is a box that appears and says "Portable Preferences for (Jane Doe) have been detected on (JaneDoe). Would you like to use them? Always Use / No / Yes What does that mean?
Last but not least. I was looking around and was clicking on Application, Documents, etc. When I clicked on Documents, only four things came up even though there are tons of documents on my computer. All four of them have to do with VoiceOver, and they were labeled as documents. One of the documents had this in it:

I'm not a computer genius, so maybe I just don't know what I'm looking at. Is it normal for something like this to be found under documents? All of these were dated today, and the problems started today. I haven't gone to bed yet, so even though it's after midnight it's still the same day to me. Anyway, none of the documents were dated before this problem started. On top of that, I have tons of documents on my computer, but when I clicked on Documents, those four are the only ones that showed up. After trying to decipher the programming language on them, I went to click on Applications and hit Documents again, and all the documents came up. I scanned the list and didn't see them, but there are so many documents on here that I haven't had time to slowly go over them to see if I missed those four documents somehow. Since then I haven't been able to get just those four to appear by themselves again.
Now, is it possible that I still have a hacker and he knows through a key logger everything I am communicating to you and the Apple Store, Maybe he did made a mistake and accidentally caused this problem, and through logging every key I have typed he has learned about his mistake and fixed it. He could still be key logging me now without me knowing it; or maybe he removed the keylogger, because he know I'm taking it in to the Apple Store and can tell them now exactly what to look for.
It is either a hacker, or I have a very vivid imagination. What do you think?

But what I can remember is that another window opened and asked me to choose 'something' (an icon or banner or?), I thought I must click something (I guess I should read all clearly). Firefox did update to 3.6.4, but it also inserted some sort of what might be called a banner? But it only partly covers the right one- half of my 3 toolbars at the top of the Firefox window. It can't be used for anything as it is just a mess of colors and unknowns, except what looks like a 'top' and what I recognize as a Firefox icon (but only partly visible)!! Now, what it does do is partly hide that whole portion of the toolbars and they are hard to read and in turn make this 'thing' impossible to figure out, if I would care to? I can't find anyway to remove it or use it?? But since the Firefox icon is on it, I guess you should know what it is and how to trash it. I am sorry for this occurrence caused my my carelessness, but I'm not much of a computer person ----HELP! Thank you for any help. Judi

"Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.

I am having the same problem with brand new Ipad Mini at my house.
It connects to the WiFi fine - but will not pull an IP address in DHCP mode, or if I set all the IP info statically - it still will not get any network access.
This doesn't look like a WiFi issue, as it does connect and is seen by the WiFi Access Point. All the normal WiFi fix stuff doesn't help.
- Using a Dlink DAP-2553 which is less than 2 months old.
Other devices connect fine, including Ipad 2.
This same Mini worked fine at another house and also connected to a mobile hotspot fine....so seems to be some weird IP issue with maybe this Access Point or maybe the older Router that I have (older Netgear)?
I am actually a network engineer and still have not been able to find a solution. Both the Ipad Mini and the Dlink WAP have the latest firmware loaded.
Wondering if anyone has found a solution to this problem.

Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. Apple has posted a way to fix and you should follow their's first. I finally got to upldate correctly by doing their fix but with one difference. I did the following:
1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replace)
2) Restarted computer and still got error message
3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not specifically put in their fix but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
5) Restarted computer.
6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try. Even updated my ipad to make sure everything was working.
