Is it ness

Hi,
Is it necessary to install Weblogic server before installing OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0
Thanks,
Balaa...

Hi Blaa,
It's not necessary to install weblogic before installing OBIEE, not even for Windows 64bit.
The oracle installer now comes with the latest version of weblogic 10.3.5 instead of 10.3.3 in the previous version

If I upgrade to OSX Lion from 10.6.8, will I keep all of my current files, bonjour install, printers, iWeb sites, documents, email, apps, and everything? Forgive my n00b-ness of upgrading an OS on a mac.. this will be my first upgrade of OS.

You will keep the apps and printers, but they may or may not work.
Quicken for Mac is gone for example because it requires Rosetta to run. Lion does not support Rosetta which may lead to some older printer/scanner software to no longer function.
    Just a few of many.

  • Audition refusing to let my Blue Nessie Microphone collaborate with the software. HELP!

Everytime I try to use my Blue Nessie microphone and I click on the record button, this error message shows up:
"The sample rates of the audio input and output devices do not match. Audio cannot be recorded until this is corrected.
Use the appropriate operating system or audio device control panel to adjust the sample rates of the input and output devices to use the same settings."
That is the problem, I DO NOT KNOW WHICH SAMPLE RATES TO USE FOR MY MIC ON AUDITION! Heck even the correct settings I have no idea what to use!
I don't have the time to experiment with the settings, so do any of you have suggestions? In the meantime, I'll have to use Audacity to use my mic.
    Thanks.
    My OS: Windows 8.1
Microphone: Blue Nessie Desktop USB Mic

I changed the default sound format on my mic's properties on the Sound System settings from the taskbar to 48k (listed as DVD Quality at the end) like you said. Then I opened a new test audio file with 48k as the sample rate in Audition and it works now!
Thanks for helping! You really helped me there. I can't thank you enough. :-)

  • Correct MP3 parameters for minimize lossy-ness and file size

    Hi folks,
Correct MP3 parameters for minimize lossy-ness so as to miminize file size.
I am given a voice recording file in 32k sample rate and bit depth = 16. On spectral frequency display I see that there is not much useful data beyond 3200Hz, which I can ignore.
If I change the sample rate to 11025, frequency range is about 5000Hz which adequately holds the valid range. Now my question is do I lose anything by downsampling the data? Does the downsampling alters some data in the 0-4000Hz range?
My second question is the default option while saving in .mp3 for a file with 11025 sample rate would be 32 Kbps, 11025 Hz. do I gain any quality by encoding to a higher say in 40Kbps or more? What is a best MP3 encoding option for voice only recordings.
Is MP3 more lossy than ACM/ADPCM?
Another off topic question-- Can I find a particular sound? Suppose I see a particular noise and selects that and take corrective measures now I would like to find out any other occurances of that type of noise in the whole file. I understand that exact match is not possible but can I search to find out somewhat similar sounds?
    best wishes to you all,
    Deeptish

In theory, no. If you use a lousy resampling method you will achieve some intermodulation distortion, however Auditions sample rate conversion process is pretty on the dot.
Is MP3 more lossy than ACM/ADPCM?
Yes/No. MP3 and ADPCM (adaptive differential pulse-code modulation) are two vastly different technologies (incidently, the ACM simply stands for Audio Compression Manager, and simply means it's an ADPCM codec for Windows). ADPCM is based off PCM and works in the time-domain. It uses dynamic compression to reduce the dynamic range so the audio is able to be mapped to an 8-bit resolution without excessive quantization noise. Upon playback/decoding, the signal is expanded. The process is far from lossless, however, A-law and μ-law have been telecom stanards of ADPCM for carrying voice traffic for years.
My second question is the default option while saving in .mp3 for a file with 11025 sample rate would be 32 Kbps, 11025 Hz. do I gain any quality by encoding to a higher say in 40Kbps or more? What is a best MP3 encoding option for voice only recordings.
MP3 is an entirely different game. Unlike ADPCM which works on the signal in the time-domain...MP3 processes an stores it's audio in the frequency domain and using physcoacoustic models, removes information from the frequency domain to reduce the number of bits needed to store the audio. The frequency response of an MP3 is determined more by the bitrate than the samplerate. A MP3 that's about 55kbps VBR sampled at 22khz only has a frequency response of 7.5khz, however, that doesn't mean the audio less than 7.5 khz hasn't been modified. Physcoacoustics work over the entire signal, the higher frequencies are the first to go since physcoacoustics figure we'll miss them less...but it does remove audio from the signal in many other bands as well. Sample rate does play a role...some bitrates are not available for specific sampling rates; since a 64kbps file might have 8khz of bandwidth, it's deemeed "too much" for 11khz and is not a valid rate. A 128kbps mp3 using 44.1 and a 128kbps mp3 using 32khz will generally have about the same range of spectral response....save for newer encoders that can squeeze a couple of muddy khz in there.  A 32kbps mp3, in practice, is acceptable for voice, there should be about 4khz of available bandwith, higher bitrates will naturally give you better quality.
Basically, either MP3 or ADPCM are lossy formats, they're just radically different implmentations of audio compression with thier own sets of advantages and disadvantages.

  • Parfocal-ness of the Sony 28-135 G Lens

The lens is of course not parfocal, not optically / mechanically. The camera (or lens itself) constantly corrects the lens groups arrangement to make it "parfocal". In other words, without electronics the lens is not parfocal. This is also the reason why this lens can get by with no back focus adjustement mechanism. Something is off in the way the camera corrects it.

I noticed some focus issues with my 28-135 zoom lens as well on my FS7. I did some tests with the Canon 70-200mm L-series lens (which is definitely parfocal) and it performed just fine, so I know it isn't the camera. I sent in the 28-135 to have it repaired and Sony replaced the lens entirely. Took the brand new lens right out of the box today and it had the same issues of losing focus as you zoom out. The best way to see the shift is if you turn peaking on and line up a few objects on the z-axis. The focus should move to the closer objects as you zoom out (as long as they are not within minimum focus distance). Here's the wacky thing though - I double-checked to make sure I wasn't in auto-focus mode by switching to auto and playing around with focus there. When I switched back to manual, the lens fuctioned just fine (no shift in the focal plane when zooming). There seems to be some kind of calibration that takes place when you switch to AF, grab some focus with the push auto feature, and switch back. Or maybe I'm wrong. But as of right now, the lack of parfocal-ness no longer exists.

  • Error: NESS

Today, I chose Filter -> Create -> Crop Marks and got this error:
"The filter cannot complete because of an unknown error.
    Error: NESS"
Quitting and restarting, repairing permissions, and performing a Save As... does not clear up the problem.
It's not a huge deal in the short run, because I have other options for crop marks, but it's troubling because I don't know what other problems might crop up as well. In the end, I copied necessary art elements into a new document, flattening layering in the process, and was able to use the Crop Mark filter without any problem, so whatever the problem was, it was file specific.
But what exactly is an "Error: NESS", and what can I do to avoid it in the future? It was easy enough to deal with today, but if there is something I need to not do to ensure I don't encounter it again that would be good to know!

    Bill,
It happens when the object you perform the 'crop marks' filter on is on a layer which is not at the top of the stack.
Temporarily move the layer to the top of the other layers, perform the filter, and move the layer back.

  • Mysterious screen saver images... & odd Leopard flaky-ness in general

    Hi Guys,
I have my screen saver set to "pictures folder" as I always have, but now and then a picture will repeat if I happen to be around the mac at the time, with strange zoomed in cartoon type images of fruits, and union jacks and little characters etc superimposed over the images.
I have no idea where these are coming from or how to turn them on or off, anyone else seen the same? They worry me slightly ha! Try it and see!
I have noticed a great degree of flaky-ness in Leopard which I didn't get with Tiger 10.4.11. Tiger was rock solid for me, but I have had several crashes and strange things happen to me. If I try to verify a disk in disk utility it hangs up in definitely; the log sayd it completed the verify, but its like the app hung up. I believe this might be related to me having a bootcamp partition though.
I have had itunes crash a few times also, and had the keyboard act oddly, as if it wasn't fully initialised (the num lock and caps lock LEDs are on and the command key doesn't do anything; a reboot sorts it) - I had a similar thing with the build in isight with Tiger after creating a bootcamp partition and running windows. It seems fine if I go back to my Tiger volume.
I'm starting to wonder if bootcamp leaves the mac hardware in an odd state after you boot up in windows, it seems to be the case for me.
    cheers
    David

I found the shortcut to iPhoto in my pics folder, worry over! Although I can't select "mosaic" for any screen saver - it just crashes system prefs, every time.

  • Hp15-r006tu can not increse or decrese bright ness with hot key

    sir ..
    i purchased a  new hp notebook 15-r006tu
    some problem are ----------
    1 .
i have installed  graphics driver but i can not change led display bright ness with hot key  ( fn + bright change key )  .
although adaptive  bright ness is off ????
    2 .
when i  want to stop ( wifi and bluetooth )  using hot key   fn + network botton  button  then only bluetooth is off
but wifi is still run .
what is hot key ??? or how i stop  wifi ???

    Hi pravt_hpr006tu,
I understand that after installing a Graphics card you can no longer adjust that screen brightness or turn off the WiFi with the function keys. I will try my best to help you with this.
For the WiFi, I suggest that you download and install the HP Wireless Button Driver, then follow the steps in this document for Airplane Mode (Windows 8) to make sure this has not been turned on.
For the screen brightness, follow the steps in this document for Resolving Problems with the Brightness of the Display and here is one for Fix : Stuck brightness controls / hotkeys not working in Windows 8 , 7 , Vista & XP for updating drivers. This should help with your brightness issue.
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
Good luck and have a great day!
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • What is ness plus and why did it become my home page?

I'm not sure where this page came from. I can't establish any other page as my home page. I tried uninstalling firefox & reinstalling it but ness is back.

I don't have homebooklinks in my add-on list, however this is what i found
    #Go to about:config
    # search for extensions.homebooklinks
    # Double click on all the values that have nessplus and leave those fields blank
NOTE: This is a very dirty quick fix. Im still figuring out how homebooklinks got into my system.

  • Endian-ness Issue on Heterogen Environment ?

    Dear SAP Gurus,
I know that AIX, HPUX used Big Endian Format and Linux used Little Endian.
I am planning to have CI and DB installed on AIX or HPUX. I also want to install Application Server (Dialog Instance) on Linux.
Is there issue regarding this endian-ness issue ? Please give your opnion.
    Thank you.

If you use a non-Unicode system different sort algorithms are use on each platform. If it´s Unicode then sorting will be the same.
If you exchange binary data with other (non-sap) system, the "other system" must be aware of the endianess. For text data this doesn´t matter.

  • Experiencing very slow text and image editing. How can i speed up this laggy-ness??

Brochure template I created myself is responding terribly to editing and manipulation.  I'm thinking it could have been a problem with the amount of layers I added on PS elements 12, but I compressed the file and I'm still was having this extremely slow response.  I went through the re-installation process and troubleshooting with updates and whatnot but they proved to be unsuccessful.

  • Need INput and Feedback ON new Macbook and Wireless-NESS

greetings all My sister just bought a macbook brand new from best buy...
she has SBC Global high SPEED DSL at home, via a ethernet modem....connected to her PC..
    Macbook's are wireless capable..
so how can we make this happen?
    1. what does she need to get Wifi access on her macbook? what do I need routers, Hubs, switches or what?
    2. if additional H/W needed, can you make recommendations on makes, models and pricing?
    3. Is there such a thing where your ISP gives you a modem that is wireless capable? if so how can I get one..
    THANK YOU KINDLY YALL
    oNe

You need a wireless router. Some ISPs will provide them to you, but some of the provided hardware really stinks. You can consider several manufacturers. Linksys is good, Apple AirPort Extreme decent and much easier to configure. Get an "N" speed router with a built in gigabit switch.

  • What is the capture  range of the snowball and the nessi usb mic ?

anyone knows the max range to capture voice with these usb mic, or any other.  it is to records Church Sunday's messages, my audi booth is at the far back of the church. it would be so much easier if apple would equip their product with an audio in, then i would just need a audio cable from the comptuter to the sound console, but they don't so i need another solution.
i would welcome other not too expensive solution
    thanks
    Rob Mongeau

It depends on the quality you need. The iMic would give you about the same quality as the built-in audio input of an earlier Mac. If you want a more professional quality input, or something with a more rugged jack than the 3.5mm jack in the iMic, something like the Lexicon Alpha or M-Audio M-Track might be worth looking at. There are higher-end devices available, but those might be overkill for capturing chuch services.
    Regards.
