Is it normal for your iPod touch 4th gen screen to come off on its own?

So I have had my iPod touch for a while now. I understand that things get old and fall apart eventually, but what confuses me is how does the screen come off on its own? I noticed it a few weeks ago when I was reading a book that some light was able to come out from the top area of the screen where the camera is located. I started to investigate about it and turns out the the top area of the iPod had came loose. A few days later I noticed that it started to get worse. It started to allow me to see the components on the inside. Then my screen turned off not allowing my to turn it back on when I later found out that one of the cables that connect the screen had came lose and popped off the connection for it. What should I do? Please help me and tell me what I should do to fix it.

"Do you have any duct tape?" Seriously, no it shouldn't come off, contact your Apple genius bar and get it fixed. Good luck.

Of course not.  no warranty covers stolen products.
Warranties are for manufacturer defects, not damaged, lost or stolen products.

    If not successful:
Try DFU mode and then restore

  • I have a few scratches on my iPod touch 4th gen screen and it really bothers me I need a way to get rid of them

I have a few scratches on my iPod touch 4th gen screen and it really bothers me and I need a way to fix it without replacing the screen or causing further damage

Hey Pandorafromtn, Not to rub salt in you open wounds, but prevention would have cost less than $10! Anything that will remove the scratches will most likely ruin the screen. I am aware of a product that works well for fill scratches in eyeglasses. It paints on, is kind of milky semi-transparent then drys to a haze. You then rub / polish until clear. Will it damage the coating on an iPod screen? I don't know. But may be for not, I can't remember the name of the stuff. I guess contact a eye care center, they may be able to help. Replacing the screen would be the best option you have or learn to live with it. In the future use a case and/or screen protector. Or you could start working on your incantations, "Oculus Repairus!" Don't forget the flick of the wrist to get your wand in the correct angle as you state "Repairus". All joking aside, Good luck. Cheers.

  • If I replace my Ipod touch 4th gen screen with a local company other than Apple will the apple warrenty be void or will the warrenty be void if I replace the screen myself?

If I replace my Ipod touch 4th gen screen with a local company other then Apple will the Apple warrenty be void or will the warrenty be void if I replace the screen myself?

Regardless of what Apple may or may not say about repair work done by a third party (a non-Apple company or you yourself), the Magnuson-Moss Act precludes them from voiding your warranty simply because you had work done by a third party or used non-OEM parts.  Typically people hear of thie Act as it is applied to cars. Car manufacturers cannot require you go to a dealership for repairs or that you use OEM parts. They cannot void your warranty for doing that. The Act applies to all consumer goods. Computer manufacturers cannot require you send your computer to them for memory upgrades or that you use memory supplied by them. Apple cannot require you to go to Apple for repair work or that you use Apple parts in that repair.
With that said, though, if you have a problem in the future, Apple could make the claim that it was the result of damage from improper repair or substandard parts. Your only recourse would be the court system, not a quick or inexpensive endeavor.

  • My ipod touch 4th gen won't go off the settings page

    Hi!
My Ipod touch 4th gen will not go off the settings page. The home button is not doing anything and neither is the lock button.
I went onto the settings page to delete some large apps as i was getting low on storage and now I cannot get off. The screen won't black out or lock.

    Try the remaining items of::
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

We were editing photos on ipod touch 4th gen. screen turned white. Turned it off and back on and it said no photos and videos were found. Turned it off and back on again and it says it needs to be restored.  Don't know what has happened.  Why would it wipe out photos and videos?  Can I get around restoring it?

  • Is it possible to use your iPod Touch 4th Gen from your computer?

I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen. And I broke the screen, the sent it in to get fixed... the people put the screen on wrong. It worked for a while, then it stopped working. I was trying to use it one day, and I accedentaly put on the curtain mode. So now, I have an iPod Touch with the I can't use. I haven't sent it in yet though. So in the mean time I've been trying to find a way to use my iPod without actually using my iPod. If you get what I'm saying.
Does anyone know how I can use my iPod without actually "using it"?
    Please you'd save my life!

With the exception of using a docking station to play music, there is no way to "use" your iPod through your computer.
And what the heck is "curtain mode"?

  • Is it possible to read the description of videos that you can see in iTunes on your iPod Touch 4th Gen or 5th Gen?

I was wondering if it's at all possible to read the description of videos that you have on your iPod Touch 4th or 5th Generation. It's available on iTunes, but I was wondering if there was a way to see it on your actual device.
Any answer would be a great help! Thanks

You can omit the title altogether in the URL (together with the succeeding slash, of course). For example, my own podcast URL in the Store is
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-sound-of-78s/id166389425?mt=2
    but this works perfectly well:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/id166389425
Indeed you can even put your own title:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/any_old_title/id166389425
So it's as simple as that!

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen Screen Twitch/Multitouch screen fail

iPod Touch 4th Generation screen stops registering my finger strokes after moderate use. Notice it first when scrolling left/right on home page, hold finger in one spot and the icons start twitching. Then I try to use the keyboard and all the keys start firing off as I hold my finger down in one spot.
Often happens when I'm away from my computer, the only thing that helps is syncing with iTunes 10.1. Hard reset/turn off does not change the problem.
The problem most often occurs when the iPod is charging via USB on my Dell Inspiron laptop, or charging from an older 3rd party charger I got free for buying a case for my older iPod Touch 2nd gen. It also happens when plugged in to a Monster car FM modulator made for the original iPod touch.
The problem started with an 8gb I got just 3 weeks ago. I returned it and bought at 32gb which does the same thing.
It is a serious problem which renders the iPod totally unusable for long periods of time.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for a 64 GB one and $99 for the others. They do not fix yours.

  • Ipod Touch 4th gen Screen design

I dropped my ipod touch 4th gen and the screen break instantly.
Its just a half a meter drop and it crack. I went to the service center. They told me that they does not repair the screen but have to buy a new one when my ipod still can listen to Mp3, Play game, surf net using wifi.
Its my fault that I dropped but I think most product in the market which dropped on the floor wont break like how my ipod touch 4th gen did

My son dropped his ipod touch 4th gen of the couch and less than 30 cm fall landed on cd case which was cushioned by carpet. Screen crack resulting. I am considering taking apple to the small claims tribunal in Victoria as I believe the product doesn't meet its basic intended purpose of being portable. With such a fragile screen caution should be used at all times. A safety screen should be provided with the product when sold as it is really of poor quality and is very fragile. I am not anti apple and up until this product they have been a fantastic product. In our family we have a ipad, two iphones and three other ipods. My first nano is still kicking strong. All these items have had occassional drops and normal wear and tear subjected too be portable. Look lets be honest if my son dropped on concrete or threw against the wall fair enough one would expect it to break. But a 30 cm fall on a plastic cd case this product breaks easier that an egg shell. It is a pathetic design for something that should be portable. I have not got 140 dollars to fork out on another ipod touch when it will break again if it is sneeezed on.

  • Lost (possibly stolen) iPod Touch 4th gen. Any way to sever its ties to my account and other devices?

I need a way of severing all services (such as message receiving and connecting to my iPhone texts) from my iPod Touch 4th gen remotely as I'm concerned it has been taken and I did not activate 'find my iPod' before its disappearance. I have already changed my Apple ID passwords in the hope that it would require my new password to recieve any further messages. I tested it on my iPad and this is seemingly not the case. I also do not want whoever has it to be able to see my mobile conversations as I also own an iPhone and I do not want them to be able to recieve all messages sent to and from my iPhone. Basically I just want to make it so no one can use any services using my account.

there is nothing you can do to find it if the find my ipod app was not activated if it was stolen all you can do is file a police report you would need to have the serial number when you file the police report, plus notify your celluar provider that your iphone may have been stolen and they can make a note on their network about the phone

can i purchase 10.5 on the apple store and is it safe to go from 10.4 directly to 10.5....what is the best procedure

You cannot get Leopard from Apple any more. You will find copies from third-party vendors on eBay, Amazon, or Google.
If you have an Intel Mac you can upgrade to Snow Leopard instead provided your model meets the requirements shown below:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
