Is it normal to see my iPod in Explorer even when disk space is turned off?

For a while, I was using disk space to store stuff. After buying an external and trying to move files over to it, several files were somehow corrupted, causing several problems with Windows wanting to reformat my iPod. I ended up resetting the iPod to fix that... but now I can see my iPod in Windows Explorer, even though disk space is turned off. Is that normal?

This part has bugged me since somewhere around iTunes v7.1 ... it used to be that with disk mode disabled you could auto-sync your iPod, leave it connected to iTunes, make changes to your library (e.g. new playlists, update tags) and then re-sync the iPod (right-click/re-sync). Now, once the iPod completes the auto-sync it disconnects from iTunes (but stays in the source column) and in order to re-sync the iPod after making library changes, you have to physically disconnect and re-connect it. It didn't used to be this way ...
Actually the way it always worked for me with my older ipod I had was if i clicked sync while it was disconnected by still showing up in itunes, it would connect back and sync again and then when done go back to where its in the source list but disconnected.

  • Why does my iPod touch keep freezing when I attempt to turn off iCloud Keychain in the settings?

Everytime I try to turn off iCloud Keychain, my iPod's
Screen freezes and automatically turns iCloud Keychain back on. I really don't want ICloud Keychain and it has been a while since I tried to turn it off.

  • How can i see text messages people sent from when my phone was turned off?

i was abroad for the past 3 months, and my phone was turned off (NOT deactivated). when i got back i received one text from 5 minutes before i had turned the phone on. I know for a fact that i should have received numerous texts/picture messages, etc. Is it too late to receive these in some way? There are also voicemails but i can accept that these are gone forever. Are pending texts/ whatever deleted after a certain amount of time?

If the text message is not able to be delivered for 5 days, it is deleted - so only the most recent days would be coming when when you turned the phone back on. New voicemails would be saved until the mailbox is full, I would think.

Is it normal for someone to have general diffuculty charging an ipad?  I see the "not charging" message even when I am using the charger and cord that came in the original box, plugged into a wall socket directly.  It is normal for me to plug it in overnight and to see no charge whatsoever the next day.  I have never had so much trouble using a friggin charger in my life.  It just seems to be exceedingly finicky.  What am I missing?

Charging your iPad should not be problematic. It should be an easy thing to do using the charger provided with your iPad connected to a known good wall outlet.
The charging problem you are experiencing is most like caused by:
    1. A faulty charger
    2. A faulty cable
    3. A bad wall outlet
    4. A problem in the iPad.
The first three of these are easiest to eliminate. Try a for ends charger and cable. Make absolutely sure your outlet is good. Try other outlets.
If the charger, cable and outlet a proven to be good then the problem lies in the iPad.

  • Ipod continually pauses, even when locked

I have a 5th generation ipod, which I bought in the U.S. but it seems since I have moved to europe, my ipod continually pauses, even when it is locked on. This problem seems to occour more when people are using 2 way radios near by, such as train stations or on the highway when passing trucks. I work in the marine industry which is constantly using 2 way radios, and this has become such a frustration, that I stopped using my ipod for the last few months. I have tried resetting my ipod, but this hasn't seemed to fix it. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated

the only thing i can think of is if the earphone jack is removed from the socket, the iPod automatically pauses..

ipod wont turn on unless I restore it and even if I do it turns off after few hours and wont turn on again unless i restore it again?

Are you restoring the iPod from a previous back or to factory settings? If you haven't restored to factory settings yet, I would do that next.  And if the problem still continues, it's most likely hardware related, in which case you'll want to schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store/Genius Bar to have them take a look at it.

  • How to see iPod in DEVICES even when disconnected

    Hello everyone,
I previously was running (v6?) of iTunes, but today upgraded it to v7 because I was unable to listen to iTune purchased music on the iPod. Thankfully that and an upgrade to the iPod shuffle s/w to 1.1.5 has cured that problem.
However whereas previously even when they were disconnected, I was able to see our 2 iPods in the DEVICES section of iTunes, now they disappear altogether until they are connected via the USB cable. I can't remember how I got iTunes to continue in showing the iPods when disconnected, presumably it was in one of the menu options somewhere, but after going into each of the menus on v7 I cannot find what I need to do. I've tried searching the apple web-sites, these forums, google etc, but cannot find anything anywhere on how to do this in v7.
Hopefully someone will be able to answer my question.
    Thanks
    Ian S.

Why in the world did Apple remove a useful feature from itunes? Probably because it was so poorly implemented in itunes 6 that no mortal windows user could figure out how to turn it on or off. I'm still praying that the competition will develop a player as good as the ipod so that I won't have to be a slave to this infuriating software.
Sorry. I just need to rant. I'm tired of continually being forced by Apple to rethink how I organize my data. How nice it would be if there was really a windows version of itunes that allowed windows users to retain their boring but trusted ways.

  • IPod Video - white screen, no video, won't turn off either

    Greetings.
I have an iPod video that recently has been giving me quite a bit of trouble. The lcd doesn't display the menu or anything 95% of the time. The backlight turns on so it looks like it's powered, but I can't see the menu or anything else. When I turn it off, dark lines, sometimes horizontal, sometimes vertical go across the screen. The lines also sometimes appear as colored lines when the screen is lit.
Also it doesn't want to turn off via holding the center and menu buttons. It will go dark, then I'll feel some minor mechanical vibrations followed by an audible click (not the wheel). If I let the buttons go after about 10 seconds the screen turns on again to white screen without any video.
If I keep holding down the center and menu buttons, then it will continue to do cycles of the mechanical movements followed by the audible click, then do the movements and click again and again. Once I let go, the white screen reappears.
I've tried accessing the diagnostic mode, but that doesn't work since it just starts up in the white screen mode with no video.
I'm way past my warrenty. I've already opened my iPod several times to ensure all of the wires are firmly attached. I think its the LCD, but since it has trouble turning completely off, I wasn't sure if that means it's actually the logic board.
Any suggestions? Would it be a smart to try replacing the LCD screen? Or is it R.I.P. for my iPod?
    Thanks!

Hopefully the battery has leak after long disused.
Recharge the iPod battery for at least 4 hours, normally it would take 30 minutes of recharge before the screen comes to live.
Disconnect the iPod, safely, after charging.
If your battery is good and can recharge fully.
Hard Reset the iPod - Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON.
    Select your preferred language.
Connect your iPod back to the Mac, and see if it is recognised by iTunes or Finder
Good Luck! and you will need it when syncing your iPod.

I went on a trip and charged my iPod Touch using my MacBook. To do this I switched off "automatically synch" etc. Now I want to synch my iPod Touch but my MacBook keeps wanting to charge it. I can't see the iPod icon nor does plugging it into the USB port automatically start iTunes anymore. I recently upgraded to 10.6.3 from 10.5.8. Now what?
