Can anyone tell me if it is alright to connect my 5th generation i-pod to the computer speakers as I don't have a sound system.My friend connected his i-pod mini to the PC speakers and it seems though as if it has damaged his earphones.

i've tried connecting a shuffle to amp. it goes well...but if your computer speakers rely from the ipods's power supply i guess the sound would be at low volume or your ipod's battery would drain fast...

Is it disabled due to too many incorrect passcode attempts ? If it is then you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it.

Why do the computer speakers on my hp satellite p755-s5215 still play when i have headphones in?

When I plug in headphones or a line out to speakers, the computer speakers still play. Every other computer I have ever owned automatically shut off the computer speakers when headphones or a line out were plugged in. Is there any way to fix this?

I had this same problem until this morning. my speaker wasnt working so i tried inserting and rmoving the headphone jack about 50 times, then i sprayed air into the socket and it didnt work so eventually i bought a bluetooth protable speaker so i could listen to music in the shower and i tried it out for the first time this morning, then as i left my house double tapped the home screen and my volume bar was there, and it works fine now, i reccomend you try connecting and disconnecting from a bluetooth device or go to a shop and try out a bluetooth speaker and it might just fix your phone

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
Once they are there in iTunes, you can use your new computer as normal.

On the first question,....are the headphones attached when you have your Air in sleep?
If yes, then refrain from having phones attached when you close the monitor to prevent this until it is resolved

I have a Satellite A665-S6086, part number PSAWOU-02N033, operating Windows 7, 64 bit. I used earphones for the first time recently and was disappointed that sound still came out of the computer's speakers. I thought the internal speakers would "mute" when earphones were plugged in. I read an earlier post of a similar problem and you asked is there was a Realtec Sound Manager. I do have Realtec but I find nothing labeled a "manager." Any help you can give will be appreciated.

Go to Start/Control Panel/Realtek HD Audio Manager. Look in the upper right hand corner of the Realtek window for a very small yellow folder icon. Click on that and make sure the box there is checked that says "Enable popup dialog when device has been plugged in".
Plug in your headphones now and a small window will open with a box labeled "Headphones". Put a check in that box, and click OK. The audio now will be confined to your headphones.

Have you tried plugging the iPod into a different USB port on your PC? Preferably a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC and not a USB port on the front or via USB hub.
With the iPod still connected to your PC, try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Iphone 4 powers on at mains, but shuts off when connected the computer

Good Morning,
I have an iphone 4 that has been dropped, and the screen broken, the buttons and screen still works however. The phone will power on when on the mains, but when it comes on the network just searches, the wifi option is greyed out, and the bluetooth option just searches when selected. Everything else works on the phone but If you remove it from the mains the phone dies instanlty.
If I connect it to a laptop then the charging battary symbol comes up, and eventually the apple logo follows but it then promptly dies as if the charge were being pulled. The comptur does not show the phone in the driver list, nor does itunes pick it up while connected. I have tried uninstalling itunes to see if it is that programme that is diverting the power from the phone, but it had no effect.
I have tried holding the top and middle button on the phone to do a reset, and it goes to the apple logo, but then the phone just comes back on as mentioned above. I have also tried putting another sim card in the phone to see if it is that that is damaged, but again no joy.
Now I am not trying to salvage the phone, I just want it to connect to some form of data transfer so that I can salvage as much as I can off the phone, then it can be binned.
The only thing I can think of doing now is taking the phone apart and possibly trying a battary out of another phone, to see if that will hold its power long enough to connect to a laptop?
Can anyone think of anything I havent tried?
Any help appriciated.

No it does not work. As you clearly stated, the device has been dropped and the screen is broken. It is damaged. Replace the device.
Also, ignore ewde1 as they seems to have no clue how to follow the Terms of Use of these forums or what they truly speak of.

Did you try a hard reset? Hold the On button and the Home button until it powers down but continue to hold until it begins to power up again. See if that brings any success.

Connecting the 1440x980 Powerbook to the TV, placement and cropping issues.

The last Powerbook I owned was the 1.87ghz 15inch at 1280x800 resolution. When I connected the computer to TV via s-video, everything was smooth, perfectly cropped and looked fantastic.
My new Powerbook, the last model Apple manufactured, has a 1440x960 resolution, and disappointing s-video output. After connecting the s-video to my TV, I connect to my Powerbook, hit Detect Displays and wait for a connection. The quality is perfect, but the image has a half inch black border on 3 sides and is flush with the right side of the TV.
Why am I having issues with this Powerbook? Is it the new resolution, bad video card? Is there any way to shift the image slightly or fill the remaining space?

Thanks for the tip, how do I change the refresh rate once the Powerbook is attached to the TV? The option seems to disappear once I hit Detect Displays.
I notcied that Overscan will get rid of the border, but then I have the problem of over-cropping and losing part of the image.

I wiped my computer and reinstalled firefox on it, my tablet still has all my bookmarks on it, am i able to sync my tablet to my computer and get all my information back onto the computer? everytime i try it says it can not connect to device???????

You should be fine. How are you, exactly, trying to pair both devices?
If the pairing code (3 lines with 4 characters each) doesn't work for any reason (you should get the code from the computer and add it to your tablet) you can get the Recovery key from your tablet and use it to connect the computer to that account.
In order to get the Recovery Key, you need this add-on in your mobile device: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/aboutsynckey/
Once you get the recovery key, follow the steps described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync#w_connect-another-computer
