Is it ok to download DropSync and use it?

Hi:
I don’t want to make the same mistake I made before when I downloaded a program that could’ve been a big problem (yes, you guessed it, I downloaded MacKeeper, but got rid of it after reading all about it).  Anyway, I want an app that will allow me to sync my iMac and my MacBook Pro so I have the same files, music, apps, etc on both machines.
Is anyone familiar and can recommend DropSync?  It is right at the App Store and I got as far as downloading the free 15 day trial from the source website:

Thanks for your comments!

Well looks like apple changed the name to mac mini server.
besides that it is essentially a mac mini that runs osx server, which wil run a file server which I believe does syncing (we have one at the office so will check there). There was another alternitave if your looking for a cheaper option (Its 1000$ for the mac mini server). After looking around a bit more I found this nice aritcle about different ways to keep to macs in sync. #1 is a bit tedious and rexuires a external drive. #2 seems to be the best option and what your looking for. (If you need help with any of the tutorials I can help) #3 is a #2 but centered on a external drive.
Hope this solves your problem. Let me know The links are below

  • Can Internet Explorer (IE) be downloaded to and used on the late 2008 model of iMac running OS X 1.9.5?

Can Internet Explorer (IE) be downloaded to and used on the late 2008 model of iMac running OS X 1.9.5? If yes, where can it be downloaded from?

Only if you run Windows. IE does not work on a Mac without Windows.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • I am trying to download, install, and use Lightroom and Photoshop...

I just want the straight out garden variety programs, install on hard drive, run offline - on local PC only - pay the price for a perpetual license, never have to connect this computer to the internet again. But I keep being railroaded into buying packages, creative clouds, monthly billing, behance accounts and so on and so on...
Am I misunderstanding the products? I used these a few years ago, they were quite simple and straightforward back then.

You can buy Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 as perpetual licenses. Pay once, own forever (provided you've got the hardware and operating system to run them).

Same here; Cant' do anything. Got the Ipod video 30g back in April 07. No problems until this week. I am getting the do not disconnect message. The computer recognizes the ipod and tells me I need to restore before it can be used with itunes. I did the restore, but I am still getting the do not connect message. The screen is grey and the icon is black instead of red plus the ipod doesn't appear to be charging. This is what happened the first time I plugged the ipod into my computer without being connected to the internet.

  • I currently sold my iphone 4s to someone else and I think I forgot to delete the icloud on its account. Will the new user of my old iphone be able to download apps and use my money? Apparently, I cannot buy new apps on my ipad.

Help? Will the new user be able to use my account to buy apps?

If you did not sign out of your Apple ID in theory the new owner could use your account. However, they would also have to know your password in order to use the account.
What do you mean by you can't buy apps on your new iPad? That is such a broad statement. You are not signed into your account in Settings>Store? The new owner tried to use the Apple ID and and your account was disabled?
I would get in touch with the new owner if you have concerns. You will need to work this out somehow. I suppose that you could wipe the device using Find My iPad if it's not too late and all of the conditions for doing so are still in place.

  • How to install and use Flash Player with Windows 7 64-bit edition and Internet Explorer 8.

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Search for Internet Explorer.
    3. Do not click on "Internet Explorer (64-bit)" or "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
    4. Click on "Internet Explorer."
    5. That will open Internet Explorer 8, 32-bit edition.
    6. Now you can download, install, and use Flash Player. (It is used automatically on websites that support it.)
    7. In the future, make sure you don't use Internet Explorer 64-bit edition. Delete any Internet Explorer shortcut icons that you were formally using. Make sure that any Internet Explorer icons that you now use, are opening the 32-bit edition. To see what edition you are using, click the question mark near the upper-right corner of a webpage and click "About Internet Explorer." If you don't see "64-bit" on the popup, that means you are using the 32-bit edition.

If you can not see the moving sphere: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
    Check the following:
Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer 9
ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer 9
    Also check this:
In I.E.9, click Tools, click Internet options, click Security tab, ensure that the Internet security level is Medium-high.

  • What could run on my iPhone at night and use 17mg???

While I am sleeping my iPhone is downloading something and using 17 mg data time.   What could run without my knowing it and what could I do to stop it from using data time????   Where would I look to find what is causing this use of data time??  This apparently happens after the iPhone goes to sleep and wi-fi is no longer turned on.
    David

Mg means milligrams and has nothing to do with a measurement of bandwidth.

  • Going online and using apps on the Iphone

I'm thinking of getting an Iphone4, is there a charge for going online, downloading apps and using Facetime from the cell phone company?

Yes any smartphone requires a data plan.
Facetime is done through Wi-fi so AT&T will not charge you for using it. But you are responsible for paying for your ISP. However, there are few apps out there where you can video chat on 3G but this might eat up your data plan so best to use wi-fi.
There are 2 ways you can surf, download apps onto your iphone.
    1. 3G. this is a 3G network which allows you to surf on the net, check facebook, view youtube on the go. Not the fastest but something useful if you don't have wi-fi in your location.
    2. Other option is using wi-fi, if you have wi-fi access, it is free to use, depending on which one you are using. Wi-fi is faster than 3G.
Any app that is over 20 MB, you will have to use wi-fi to download it.

  • Is it wise to keep the Nikon camera files "DSC's"  after downloading them and converting to DNG files via Adobe converter for lightroom use. In other words do the DNG files have all the raw data I would ever need in processing or should I save the camera'

Is it wise to keep the Nikon camera files "DSC's"  after downloading them and converting to DNG files via Adobe converter for lightroom use. In other words do the DNG files have all the raw data I would ever need in processing or should I save the camera's DSC files?

DNG files do not contain some metadata supplied by the camera, which can be used by the manufacturer's software. Thus, if you don't keep the original Raw photo, you will lose this information.
If your 1000% sure you're never going to use the manufacturer's software, then this isn't a problem. But who can be sure what software you will be using 10 years from now?

  • HT201272 I have always had and used the same Apple ID, so where are the rest of the songs I bought from itunes? I've bought at least 400 songs and I only am being able to download 178. Where are the rest of my purchases?!

I have always had and used the same Apple ID. I have changed credit card information on my Apple ID account several times though. Does that make a difference when downloading past purchases? I'm very angry at Apple and Itunes because I have been using itunes since 05/2005 and I do not have even close to the amount of songs and albums that I have purchased from itunes. If the credit card info does make a difference even though the account is the same one then itunes needs to make sure to notify users of this because I am not the only one who is wondering this same thing. I have numerous friends who i've talked to about this and they say the same thing, that they too have songs purchased in the past that have disappeared when trying to download past purchased items. It should not make a difference. $12 is $12. Especially since I have ALWAYS used the same account. If itunes does not change their ways, I will not be purchasing songs or anything else for that matter from them ever again. I will go back to buying CDs where I KNOW that it will always be with me and I don't have to deal with this. I will also make sure to find a better more reliable source to download music from and will make sure everyone I know and come in contact with knows what it is and how much better it is than itunes. There should be no experation date on the music I PURCHASE, nor should there be any other little loop holes that allow itunes to rob us of rightfully purchased products. What's the deal itunes??

So I basically won't run into any trouble? I
There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that.  You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.

Is there any chance that the phones can fall out of sync?
Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)

If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.
    mannyace wrote:
Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.
