Trouble with screen resolution when using Parallels and ACT on Macbook Pro (late 2013)
Hello, I have installed my Sage ACT 2013 software on my Macbook Pro 13" Retina (late 2013) computer that has 16GB of RAM and an i7 core processor using Parallels 9 desktop and Windows 7- 64bit. The problem is that the screen resolution is very small and condensed to the left side making reading the title boxes and content very difficult. I reached out to Parallels who was unable to resolve the screen resolution by either adjusting the display settings or the Windows 7 video settings. Right now they have the Resolution listed as "Scaled" as the "Best for Retina" & "More Space" options did not help the issue. What is even more strange is that I have Office 2013 installed on the Parallels side so that it can interface with ACT and those screen resolutions read just fine. Are there any ACT/MAC users out there that might have any insight for me? Thx!

In addition to the Windows disc (or USB flash drive with the Windows installer) you'll need a 8GB+ flash drive.

i downloaded a movie on ipad2. the video quality is perfectly fine but there is no audio. when i play it to my mac. its perfectly fine! The video was converted using e.m. total video converter for mac version 2.4.1. Please HELP ME.
i use a defective converter thats why their was no audio. i try to use the handbreak converter and it works perfectly fine. now i enjoy watching movies from my ipad2 and iphone 3g

I can not use CanaScan N670U with my Macbook Pro. I download Canoscan toolbox 4.1 from Cannon websit. It still keep saying "The scanner plug-in was not found". Please help
There is a solution (I'm running Snow Leopard on a Core2Duo iMac, but this problem arose when I was running Leopard on a G4 PowerBook too).
Problem:
You download the OS X driver for the scanner from Canon's site. I already had the CanoScan Toolbox (4.1) stored on an external drive.
You unzip the driver and run the VISE installer. After a search it finds your copy of Photoshop (and maybe even the CanoScan Toolbox), and you click to install on that/those location(s).
You get a couple of error messages, which you click through.
You restart your computer and try to run the scanner but you get an error that the driver is wrong or missing and the process will abort.
Solution:
BEFORE you restart, and with the installer package still open -
1. Copy the Into_CFMSupport_Login & Into_CMPrefs folders to
Applications : Canon Utilities
Applications : Canoscan Toolbox
and remove the prefix Into_ from each folder
2. Check whether the installer placed N067U_Library.shlb into the top level (not User level)
Library : CFMSupport
and if it didn't, move it there yourself
THEN restart, and try again. It worked for me (via Photoshop), but whether it will work for everyone, I don't know. -

To which fix do you refer? Activatng QT 7 Pro or converting the files? Even with QT 7 Pro activated you may need to modify your QT codec component configuration depending on the file type and compression formats used to encode your "old movies." There may be many different problems here with each having one or more "fixes." Please try to be more specific regarding your questions. Converting a muxed VOB MPEG2/AC3 file would be very different different from converting an AVI DivX5/MP3 file depending on which application you are attempting to use. -
I have been transfeing my DVD footage to I movie using handbreak and the spinning wheel of death has arrived and locked up I movie as I tried to import footage. The message says, "Optimizing movies, processing event DVD" but I can't get out of it.
Yes I held them down till the apple logo appears, then spinning wheel and repeated boot up process. I only knew it was going round in circles because the charging sound kept repeating every so many seconds.
I am downloading iOS.5.0.1 now to do a complete factory restore. I hope this works. I have been looking online for hours for fixes and I have very little batter on it as its been spinning for hours now.

Well, turbo.264 is indeed very nice to have - even for converting full-sized movies. (Nevertheless, TechRadar's latest roundup (see http://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/6-of-the-best-video-converte rs-for-mac-1074303 ; also linked from another roundup at http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/benchmark-excellent-multimedia-converter-handb rake-vs-commercial-apps ) has shown it's still worse than HandBrake in most respects.)
All H.264 files (assuming they are H.264 level 4.1 or lower) are compatible with the built-in Videos app.

It entirely depends on your needs. The top players (AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer, It's Playing, GoodPlayer) all have different strengths and weaknesses. I myself use It's Playing the most as I convert everything into MP4 and simply love the DSP's (brightness / volume / saturation boosting). (Its software decoders are definitely worse than those of AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer; however, MP4's are played back from hardware.) -

You could if you want a postcard sized print.
Printers need a lot more "dots" per inch and even a 1920X1080 video doesn't have enough "dots" to make more than a postcard.

When I attempt to download OS X Mavericks to my (2008) MacBook Pro, I'm told that I do not have enough room and must remove items from my start-up menu. How do I go about that and what do I remove?
Throw away files and apps that you no longer need or use and empty the Trash. Another method is to buy an external drive and move your largest Libraries (iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie) onto it and then delete them from the internal drive.
Mavericks needs 8GB's of free space to be installed. -
How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion? I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8) since November until now. Mail will no longer download on the MacBook Pro and keeps asking for my password.
Mail should still be usable with your machine - but you'll need to update the settings to conform to the requirements of your system. Check with your ISP (like ATT, etc.) for the settings that will work with your Mail. Once you've updated this, you should be able to email like before.
For example, my ISP required that I go to Mail Preferences/Accounts and make sure the details conform to your email settings.
I have no idea of what your ISP is or what the settings might be, but this is likely the source of the problem. -

Whenever you transfer something from one drive or volume to another, it is copied and the original remains where it was no matter the method you use. It is so by design: just in case you were to delete it on the one drive, you still have it on the other. However, if you no longer want the original, simply delete it and empty the trash.

My wife just finished uni and has no need for her laptop any longer. I have an iMac that she has created a user account on and now uses this more than her macbook pro. We want to give her macbook away so someone can use it however im not sure how to move everything from her macbook pro to my imac and her user account.
Im not even sure if this is possible. Ive tried the Migration assistant but im scared i will wipe my iMac and everything i have on it.
Basically we both want to use the same computer, 2 different user accounts and she doesnt want to lose anything she had on her macbook pro.
I would appreciate some help =)On the iMac log into your wife's account, then open System Preferences and select the Sharing tab. In the left window pane select File Sharing and look at the top to see the iMac's name. Then log in on her notebook and open a Finder window. In the sidebar to the left you should see Favorites and a list of folders, Devices and a couple of items, and then Shared and under shared you should see the iMac's name you saw previously. Click on it and the Finder window will change, a dark bar will appear near the top and to the right in that dark bar you should see a Connect button. Your wife should enter her account name on the iMac and her password. Now the window should display a short list of folders, one of which has the name of her account. Click on it and you'll see the folders on the iMac. Now she can simply drag and drop files from the notebook to the folders of the iMac.
Note: if there aren't too many files it may be simpler to just use a flash drive. -
