Is it OK to install BW and BO in same server

Is it OK to install BW and BO in same server ?
BW 3.5
BO XI 3.1 SP2 FP2.9
Is there any known issue in this approach ?
What is the recommended system requirement for it ?

I would do it only if it is on Unix and the H/W is powerful enough.
Keep in mind that when you shutdown/reboot you are taking offline 2 systems at once.
In 64bit Windows there are conflicting versions of the required rfc libraries (32bit and 64bit) which are not easy to resolve and will affect the MDX parser.

  • I want to install DEV and QAS on same Server

    Hello all,
Can anybody tell the step by step procedure to install dev and qas on the same server, i have installed Dev with win 03 server and oracle as a DB.
Now what to do? please provide some document or note to do this.
I am waiting for ur reply, its urgent....

    Hello Mr.X,
SAP suggests that even for a single system installation data files, redo log files and back up of log files should be placed on different hard disks. So it makes sense to do the same for different instances as well. Going to ORA_HOME you need mutiple ORA_HOME.
For mutiple ORA_HOME please check this link :
    http://www.lc.leidenuniv.nl/awcourse/oracle/em.920/a96697/moh.htm.
System number definitely have to be different. System number will also influence the ports.
Also check the SAP installation guide for installation of 4:6C on unix/oracle platform. It discusses this mutiple database instance concept.  Other higher release installation guides also do that.
Please award points for useful answers.

  • Need to install CRM and ECC in same server

    Hi Experts,
I want to install CRM and ECC server in a single server. (Win2003/MS SQL server)
I think we need more space (Sizing).
Apart from this, i have couple fo questions in my mind..
1,Which server should i install first.?
2,Does it use the same Database for both servers (CRM and ECC) installation?
3,I know that SID is differ for both server, does it use the same kernel for Both.
4, What are the dependent and independent files ?
5, How the database wil behave when i stop/start one server ?
Could someone help me the stpes.
    Thanks and regards
    Thirumal

1,Which server should i install first.?
Doesn't make any difference... you can start with either of them
2,Does it use the same Database for both servers (CRM and ECC) installation?
Yes, It will create separate instances on the DB.
3,I know that SID is differ for both server, does it use the same kernel for Both.
No.. they'll have separate kernel directories.
4, What are the dependent and independent files ?
Files will be all independant, beside the hosts and services files.. but sap wise everything should be under different SID's (as far as i remember)
5, How the database wil behave when i stop/start one server ?
You have to be carefull with this one... if you stop the DB it will affect both systems... so when stopping the system make sure you use stopsap/startsap r3

  • How to Install XI and EP on Single server

    Hi,
How to install XI and EP on same server. I tried to install XI then EP . After EP installed then iam not able to access XI j2ee engine . I think some where port conflicts . I gave system number for XI : 00 and EP : 02
Can any one help for this. Where did i made mistake.
    Thanks
    Kristene

    Hi Kristene,
I have installed XI and EP on the same server (for test purposes) without any problems, so it should be possible. I installed them in a different order (first EP then XI), but I don't think that matters much.
The only real difference is that I kept the system number the same.
What do you mean exactly with not being able to access the XI j2ee engine? How did you try to access it?
    Regards,

  • Server 2008R2 and Exchange on Same server

    Hello Everyone,
I have taken over the IT Department for a small County Government and have found that the prior contractor installed Exchange 2010 on the same server that is running Active Directory. This machine is also acting as the DC. I would really appreciate any help
in figuring out which one will be easier to move. I am planning on ordering a new server but it will have Server 2012 on it. I am looking for any help and instructions of which one would be the best to move and what is the best way to accomplish this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
once a DC has Exchange installed demoting this DC is NOT SUPPORTED operation!!!
First you MUST move Exchange to another machine. Therefore ask the Exchange experts in the already mentioned forum.

  • 6.5 and XIR2 on same server

Can we have 6.5 and XIR2 on same server
I mean like there are set of users who access 6.5
    and some for XIR2
Will be there any problem if we have 2 different versions of BO on same server
    Thanks in advance

With UNIX, it's actually quite easy to install different deployments across you server.
Windows is a different story.  In theory, you can probably resolve port conflicts and get the installation running.  But in practice, it makes things much more difficult to troubleshoot, so I wouldn't recommend it.  Even if you resolve port conflicts, you'd have to decide what to do with shared components such as Web and App servers.  Also, there might be confusion around client applications.
If your server is big enough, consider using VMWare and running each on separate images.

I have a 2008 R2 server that is running but has issues when restarting or trying to install IE 10. I ran the System Readiness Tool and it fixed a number of issues but there are 5 remaining errors in the Component store that will not repair automatically.
    They are:

I tried to run a SFC but if failed because there is a repair operation that needs a reboot.  When rebooting, the server tries to install a number of updates but the update fail and the server backs them out and then comes up.  It goes through this
loop every restart.  There is a pending.xml file that has much in it and I will copy at the end of this post.
I moved the pending.xml out of the winsxs folder and tried to run the SFC again and now it fails with: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation".
Checking windows updates shows that the IE 10 upgrade for Server 2008 R2 failed a number of times.  I tried to manually install it and it fails.  I was going to go to the server manager and see if I could disable IE and then re-enable it (this
has worked on W7 pcs in the past) but the Server manager aborts with "Unexpected Error refreshing Server Manager: Catastrophic failure (Exception from HResult: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED)).
The details of the pending.xml is 32MB but here is an initial snipet:

you can indeed have the servers in the same servers - there is a name for this - it is called MCOD - multiple components in one database , you can either look at having different DB for the above or sharing the same DB , it will be a matter of server sizing thats all and configuring the transport connections.
On an average assume 300MB (150 App + 150 DB) of RAM per concurrent users.
also have a look at service.sap.com/sizing....

  • Installing Mobile Repository Server DEV and QAS on same server

    Hi,
i installed CRM Server 7.0 SR1 ABAP DEV and QAS on one server. Afterwards i installed the Communication Station DEV and QAS together on one server.
Now i want to install the Mobile Repository Server (MRS) for DEV and QAS on one server. For DEV i have installed it successfully. But i don't know how to install it for QAS on the same server.
The only answer i found is: Re: CRM Mobile installation
Here is written that one of the repository database ARS_DB needs to be renamed.
    But my first question is:
Do i have to install the MS SQL Server 2005 again for the QAS system? Only a default instance is supported and not a named instance. Can i install a default instance twice?
What are the steps for installing the second MRS? Does anybody did it successfully?
It would be very nice if someone could help me.
I use SAP CRM Mobile 7.0 SP04 on Windows 2003 with MS SQL Server 2005 SP2.
    Kind regards
    Wolfgang

    Hello
MRS requires SQL Server 2005. It is not possible to \have two MAR repositories with two default instances in a single machine.
Installation might not allow you or throw an error  if you have more han one sql server defualt instance.
Instead, you can stll follow the either of the following approaches:
    1. Use DEV MAR repositroy itself as a TST repository. It means, you will have one MAR for both DEV and TEST.You have to be cautious.
    2. * First install the DEV MAR in one machine.
Configure DEV MAR to DEV CRM for transports.
Restore the TEST MAR DB in DEV MAR machine.
Also configure TEST MAR to TEST CRM server for Transports.
Approach 2 avoids the second time installation. You should have the TEST MAR repository to restore. this option woudl work:)
    Best Regards

  • Help for Installing PHP and Sun One Web Server

    Hi
I tried to install PHP 5.1.4 and Sun One Web Server 6.1. I am not able to complete this and got stuck. All the available materials in net seems to flow above my head.
It will be very helpful if someone could let me know the step by step configuration a bit brief for the same.
    Thanks in advance
    Kathirvel Balakrishnan

    Hi Craig
    I am following these steps,
1st step : Installing PHP on the WindowsNT server (NT users only)
Copy the php files on your server
    Get the php zip file
Copy the php files under a directory (for example : d:php4)
(be careful don't use c:Program Filesphp because of the space between Program and Files
copy php4ts.dll to c:winnt and msvcrt.dll if you don't already have it on your system
    Edit php.ini-dist
    rename php.ini-dist to php.ini
Edit php.ini : Indicate in which directory you have copied youre php files. (extension_dir = d:php4extensions ; directory in which the loadable extensions (modules) reside.)
copy php.ini in winnt directory (php.ini is parsed in my config)
Matthias Kramer told me that he had to move php.ini to <path-to-netscape-server>/https-servername/config for it to be parsed
Make a file association under Windows NT
In a DOS Window, type assoc .php=PHPScript
    ftype PHPScript=d:php4php.exe %1 %*
    Test the 1st step
    Create a C:test.php file with a single line like <? echo("Nothing to write"); ?>
    Create a C:test.bat file with 2 lines test.php
    pause
    double-clic on test.bat
If you see something like X-Powered-By: PHP/4.0.3
    Content-type: text/html
    Nothing to write
    then the NT association works!!
2nd step : Configuring Netscape Enterprise Server or iPlanet for PHP4 with nsapi (NT & UNIX)
    Unix users only
    Compile PHP as follows: ./configure --with-nsapi=/usr/local/netscape/server4 --enable-libgcc
    make
    make install
Add LD_LIBRARY_PATH=<libdir> to your Netscape server startup script
where <libdir> is the full path to the directory where libstdc++.so.2.10.0 is located (usually /usr/local/lib)
Add a mime-type to the Netscape Server
In the Netscape Administration console chose Preferences|Mime Types
Add a new type called magnus-internal/x-httpd-php for exts=php
    Stop your Web Server
Make a copy of obj.conf located in: <path-to-netscape-server>/https-servername/config
    Modify obj.conf
There are several section in obj.conf
At the end of the Init section of obj.conf (necessarely after mime type init),
place this two lines For NT users
    Init fn="load-modules" funcs="php4_init,php4_close,php4_execute,php4_auth_trans" shlib="d:/php4/sapi/php4nsapi.dll"
Init fn="php4_init" errorString="Failed to initialise PHP!"
    For Unix users
    Init fn="load-modules" funcs="php4_init,php4_close,php4_execute,php4_auth_trans" shlib="/usr/local/netscape/server4/bin/libphp4.so"
Init fn="php4_init" errorString="Failed to initialise PHP!"
    In The < Object name="default" > section,
place this line (necessarely after all 'ObjectType' and before all 'AddLog' lines) Service fn="php4_execute" type="magnus-internal/x-httpd-php"
    Add a new object called x-httpd-php <Object name="x-httpd-php">
    ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/x-httpd-php"
    Service fn=php4_execute
    </Object>
    Restart your Web Server
    Test the 2nd step
Put the test.php file in the document root of your server
    Then type http://server/test.php
If you can see "nothing to write" in your browser then it works!
    AS mentioned in step 1,
I am not getting the PHP message.
I am installing it in my laptop, it has no IP, is that has to do something with this.
    Please guide me from here.
    Thanks in advance
    Kathirvel

  • BOE XI 3.1 and CE9 on same server

    Hi,
During a migration from Crystal Enterprise 9 to BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 I will be installing XI 3.1 on the same server as CE9 prior to importing the data. During a test run I found that they seem to use the same ports and as a result the second installation (BOE XI 3.1) is unusable. I was surprised that the install wizard didn't pick this up. When I say unusable, I was unable to connect to the CmcApp and was unable to access the Server Configuration from within the CCM.
Question: Is this a known issue and is there a known work around?
I've searched the SAP Support area and this forum but have so far been unsuccessful in identifying similar postings. I am currently uninstalling BOE XI 3.1 so I can reinstall using different port numbers.
    Thanks,
    Mike

The reinstall using different ports resolved the issue, but it also left CE9 in an unusable state. Apparently I need to find a document named "Crystal Enterprise: Troubleshooting a Communication Error" as this talks me through the problems. I found it the other day, but I can't find it now.
Anyway, the solution was to ensure that when installing BOE XI 3.1 that you select different port numbers to those set by default to avoid conflict with previous installations.

  • CF11 and CF8 on same server.

    Hi,
I need to install cf11 on the same windows 2008 server as an existing cf8 install.
I realise it would be better to have 2 servers but in this case thats not an option open to us so I need specific help with the 2 installs.
The current CF8 is using IIS7.
I have done a bit of spade work and I believe the best way to do this cleanly would be to install a 2nd web server, e.g apache on windows and then configure it with CF11.
I had hoped that I could actually install CF11 and just configure specific iis sites with it, hoping this would leave the cf8 configured sites intact.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you have 2 webistes, one you want to run with ColdFusion 8 and other you want to run with ColdFusion 11 on the same server then yes it is possible. However, two different versions of ColdFusion cannot server same website in the same server.
Launch the Web Server Configuration tool of CF8 and if CF 8 is configured with ALL IIS websites, then remove the connector for all and add the website/websites one by one which you want to run with ColdFusion 8.
Now, go ahead and install ColdFusion 11 and in the "Configure Web Server" Window choose the website that you want to run with CF 11
NOTE : Two most important points to remember :
    1. Do not remove the CF 8 connector if it is a production server
    2. Do not choose All with CF 8/ CF 11 under IIS Website, because if you choose ALL then all the websites under IIS will be configured with that version of CF.

    Thanks

  • 9i and 10g on same server (Win 2000) - only use one a time.

I am working on setting up an oracle server for testing purposes and wonder if it is possible to install 9i and 10g on the same server (Win 2000) without any conflicts? Only one would be used at a time.
    Thanks,
    Luke

Yes. It is possible to have multiple version in windows. However, it is little tricky compare to unix environment.
You can comfortably execute respective versions(9i and 10g) GUI interfaces. But you may have issue when you try to execute binaries from command prompt. Each Oracle installation will keep appending the environment variables(path, etc). You can have batch file for each version and execute it.
GUI interfaces controled by windows registry. Each version will have separte registry entry with necessary variables.

  • Problems in Installing Oracle 10g,11g on same server

    All,
I install oracle 10.2.0 on RHEL 4.7 and running successfully,
How i can Install more database 10.2.0 at same server, and what i have to changed in .bash_profile
what change i have to do for installing Oracle 11g on same server.
    Thanks

I am not being strict in my answer as it would might confuse.
Providing you did not use Oracle Express Edition ...
dbca should be able to create and sort out another database 10g for you.
    Be careful not to run out of resources {eg use too much main memory}
You can switch between oracle databases in the same oracle home (which is what you will have) by 'export ORACLE_SID=SID2' where SID ... providing your bash_profile sets up the environment required for your first oracle database.
When putting new oracle home installations {eg an 11g installation} on a machine where there is an existing oracle home my rough rule of thumb is to unset variable that relate to existing oracle homes before dpoing install (possible exception of ORACLE_BASE).
    eg:
    oracle$ env
    ORACLE_SID=SID2
    ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/prouct/10.2.0
    ORA_NLS10=...
    oracle$ unset ORACLE_SID
    oracle$ unset ORACLE_HOME
oracle$ /stage/whatever/runInstallerI think the argument is begining to go against seting ORACLE_HOME and other home specific stuff etc in the .bash_profile.
