Is it OK to just upgrade one of the two RAM DIMMs in the Mini?

It comes with two 2-GB DIMMs, and I am ordering a single 4-GB DIMM.
Can two divorced chips share an apartment without driving each other crazy?
MD387LL/A is the model number.
Thanks!

Of course. It will work without any problem, but if both modules are of the same size, you can get a small performance increase with Dual Channel. Anyway, your solution is also valid.
I recommend you to get RAM from OWC or Crucial in order to make sure that it's compatible with your Mac > http://www.macsales.com
