Is it OK to sell my academic version of CS5 Production Premium?  May I give it away for free?

Hello,
I bought this while attending classes on Premiere Pro at the local college and am still attending there.
I would now like to work with CS5.5 because of some of the cool improvements and intend to buy a new copy at the campus bookstore.
I want to play by the book.  I have a question and do not know the answer.
May I sell my old copy?   May I give it away?
Thanks!
ALSO, IS IT POSSIBLE TO MERELY UPGRADE TO CS5.5 FROM THIS ACADEMIC VERSION?
Clueless in San Francisco

Matt (aka Clueless in San Francisco),
I'll answer your last question first. Yes, you may upgrade from the academic version of Production Premium CS5 to the full commercial version of Production Premium CS5.5. Please call Adobe Customer Support who can assist you in making this purchase. Note that there are no upgrades from one academic version to the next given the exceptionally low price of these academic versions to start with.
Whereas you may sell / transfer the license for non-academic / student versions of Adobe products, under no circumstances can you sell or transfer licenses for academic / student versions.
Also, once you upgrade any version of an Adobe product, whether from one version to the next or from academic / student to full commercial version, the license for the old software effectively no longer exists other than that you may continue to use the older software on the same system that you have installed the newer version as a means of transitioning to the newer version.

  • 64 bit version download for CS5 Production Premium

I am moving my applications from a 4-core PC to a 6-core PC for increased speed.  In so doing, the 6-core will become my second computer with CS5.
Are the 64 bit versions of CS5 Production Premium not on the CS5 discs and were downloaded automatically later still available?

I am organizing all the information I need for a transfer of files and programs from my 4-core PC to my 6-core PC so I apologize if my questions sound trivial.   I could tell the 64 bit version from the 32 bit version because the file included (64 bit) at the end of the name.  If this is the case with the download program then that is simple.
I also have an additional concern regarding download time.  When I tried to download CS5 Production Premium twice on the first 4-core PC, the download quit after a period of time.  This can be a problem with Telco Internet.  I had to order the discs as a result.  I may be lucky with a new Airport Extreme router, due 28th of this month, and the 6-core PC combination.  Do you have transfer using FTP or what do I do if I experience the same problem with my 6-core.  Single programs such as Photoshop would not be a problem.  That is why I asked my original question regarding the download of 64 bit versions that were missing on the discs and sent by download afterwards.

  • I want to sell my Academic version of Final Cut Studio 3.

Do i need to delete any registration off my computer so another person can use the serial number to install? Is there already another license that came with it? I cannot find any information pertaining to this online.
    Thank You!

    There is no un-register process.
Use this free tool: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/ to remove all traces of FCS3 from your computer.
When you sell your copy, you must include all the original discs, printed documentation and serial numbers.

  • Registered version of CS5 but system won't give me 40% discount.

I have a registered copy of CS5 but when I try to register for CS6 (Adobe CC) it says I don't qualify for the 40% off for existing customers.
    How can I fix this?

The Cloud is definitely available at promotional pricing (for the first 12 months only) to registered customers of CS3 or later.
If the Adobe website is telling you that you do not qualify then check first that you're not an Educational, OEM or Volume Licensing customer. If so, the offer does not apply.
If you have a commercial retail version then contact Adobe to discuss

  • Can I use my cs5 production premium key on a trial version of cs6?

My old computer that had cs5 died. So I have now upgraded to a computer that doesn't have an optical drive. This is fine for me except that I NEED my production premium installed! So I had the genious idea of downloading the CS6 production premium trial and then entering my cs5 key!! Will this work? If not, where can I get a cs5 trial? Or, could I make ISO's of my cs5 discs on a friends' computer??
    Thanks!!!
    ~Derek
Edit: I ask all this because I don't want to waste the bandwidth downloading the trial if it doesn't work and I want to stay clear of shady websites and viruses!!

No it won’t work. Get a USB thumbdrive and copy the installers using a computer with an optical drive.

  • Download version of Production Premium CS5 for PC?

    Hello,
I'm a registered user of Production Premium CS5 and I recently switched back to the PC platform.  I am hoping someone in the community can somehow get me a copy of the download PC version, if it ever existed, of the Production Premium CS5?
I spent 2.5 hours on hold with Adobe support only to have the rep, and the supervisor, tell me that my software is obsolete (which I felt was like saying I didn't matter anymore) and that my only option was to pay $750 for an upgrade to CS6 and therefore be able to cross over platforms.  That was really insulting.
Every other piece of software I use, and I use a lot, from other companies of course, offers both PC and Mac versions of software if you purchase a license.  I am a legitimate and supportive Adobe user, meaning I don't take advantage of the torrents one can easily get their hands on without passing a cent Adobe's way, and this is how I am thanked.  Really crappy Adobe.  I understand you're the big dog on the block, but do you really have to capitalize on that??
Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jeremy

However, if you don't have a CS5 for Windows serial number then the Mac version of CS5 will only run for 30 days (being a Trial). After that you need a CS5 serial for Mac which you can no longer obtain.
If you don't join the Cloud then your remaining option is to purchase a crossgrade to CS6 for Windows.

  • Can I use my CS5 CD product key on a trial version of CS5?

I recently ordered CS5 Production Premium and I can't wait for it to arrive!
So my question is, can I download the trial version of the programs and just use my product key to activate them when the box comes in? Would it be the same as installing it out of the box?

Yes. When you launch the trial you'll be prompted to either enter a serial number or continue with the trial.
Just enter the serial from the DVD case and you should be good to go. I believe that the trial of production premium doesn't install all of the codec that the retail version does, but once you activate it, you can download them directly from the application.

  • Really New Newbie!... Logic Pro Academic Version?

I am a student at USC and I am looking into buying Logic Pro. They sell the academic version here for about $400. Now, what exactly is the academic version and how is it different? I heard that you might not be able to upgrade with it and you'd have to spend another grand to get the full version... HELP PLEASE!!!! Thanks...

Hey Quinn welcome to the discussions
EDU versions are the same functionality as full retail versions of the software however they are licensed to students and faculty at reduced prices for educational purposes
as Apple locked the OTHER pro apps from having a EDU version as a starting point in a upgrade chain it is safe to assume that Logic will follow

  • I have Creative Suite 6 Production Premium and InDesign CS5.5 for Windows, but I need the Mac versions of these. Is it possible to swap or exchange these products?

Does Adobe allow exchanging my Windows version of CS6 Production Premium and InDesign CS5.5 for the Mac version? (The CS5.5 box is unopened, and the CS6 is in mint condition.)

You might be able to do something for the CS6 product, but as far as the CS5.5 application goes it will not qualify.  See the following:

  • What are the differences between the Mac and Windows version of CS5

Hello. I am considering to buy the Educational version of Adobe CS5 Production Premium (mainly using Illustrator but once in a while photoshop and Premiere). How is the Mac version compared with the Windows version? Is it better or the same? As far as I know, the Helvetia font is available for free on the Mac version. However, there must be lots of other differences. Thanks

I know of no differences with Illustrator. The only difference I am aware of is that Acrobat for Windows includes LiveCycle Designer. I am told it is a versatile and useful tool for form design and it integrates well with larger databases. I have only used the form design tools and I can testify that they suck balls.

  • PC version of OnLocation with Mac version of Production Premium CS5

I'm asking this question for a friend of mine who just received the Mac version of the Production Premium CS5 bundle. He edits using a Mac, but does his field work on a PC (predominantly using a laptop for P2 offloading). I use all PC, so I don't know how the cross-platforming works, but he was wondering if it's possible to install a Windows version of OnLocation on his laptop, or if one is even available a la carte. I know the license provides for multiple installs of OnLocation in your given platform that are separate/additional to your two given installs of the bundle, but is there even this availability for cross-platform workflows?

Would it be possible to upgrade my CS5 version to CS6, then perform a cross-platform exchange?
Yes, you just purchase the CS6 upgrade version for Mac, enter your Mac CS6 Upgrade serial number then enter your Windows CS5 serial number.
How to Move Adobe CC or CS6 Between Computers, or PC to Mac | ProDesignTools
"Good news! It’s simpler now with CS6, you can easily change platforms when upgrading as normal – just select the correct operating system when purchasing the upgrade. Then when you install that upgrade software on your new platform, it will ask for the serial number of your previous version from the other platform.  For example, if you currently own Photoshop CS5 on Windows and want to get Photoshop CS6 on Mac, then just buy the CS6 upgrade for Mac OS, and manually enter the serial number for your older Windows version when installing it."

  • Which version of CS5 Suite is installed on the puter?

Sorry...strange question ....but where  does one
get an indication of what version of CS5 Production Suite is installed?
    eg Premium or otherwise?
Is it in the About or the Splash Screen..or  where?

At the risk of stating the obvious, there is only one 'Production' version called Production Premium.    The only difference between the Master and Production Premium is the number of programs that you get, so I took the liberty of copying the specs from the sales page:
