Is it okay to charge my iPod Touch with my wall charger on a regular basis?

I like to use my iPod Touch at night before I go to sleep but since my computer is not in my room my iPod Touch is usually charging with the wall charger I bought (from Apple) for hours and usually overnight and its becoming that that is the only way I'm charging my iPod because at night that's the only time I'm using it.
So my question is, is it okay to charge my iPod like that? I've been noticing that when I turn my iPod on and use it, it'll say there is half the battery left but usually when I turn it on the next day it says there is only 10% remaining and it's like that everyday.

Yes, it's okay.
You should let it run down completely every feew months to somewhat "calibrate" the battery meter though.

  • Cant charge new i touch with old wall charger

I bought an i-touch recently because I was going on vacation. In the purchasing store they were ,out, of chargers (wall charger) Went to another store and learned they were on recall, not in prior to my departure. Was assured by employees at both stores Corte Madera and Emeryville that the i-pod charger would work. So now am in Japan and i-pod charger does not work (is not supported) and so for the remainder of my trip my I-touch is useless, which is of course v. frustrating! Any suggestions?

Yes, they changed the charging circuits to only work with the new Apple charger, sorry.
See if you can find a PC anywhere to charge it, maybe.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is it okay to clean your iPod Touch with just a washcloth and clean water?

I was just wondering if cleaning my iPod Touch with just water and a washcloth would be alright.  Is there something better to use thats free?

A soft lint-free cloth is all that's recommended and usually all that is necessary. If you have some sort of material on the iPod that you can't get off with just a dry cloth, then you can use a damp - and by "damp" I really do mean damp; if you can squeeze any water out if it, it's too wet - cloth for just that material. It will be up to you to make sure that no liquid gets into the iPod.

Yes, you can. Same goes for the iPhone chargers. They're all interchangeable, since they've got the same connectors.

  • Hi, can I charge my iPod Touch with my iPad2 outlet charger?

Yes you can and it will charge alot faster than if you plug it in to your laptop or computer.

  • If I charge my iPod Touch with an unplugged MacBook Pro, does the MBP discharge more quickly?

    It's just a doubt.

It simply would not be smart to charge your iPod from your MacBook Pro when the MBP is unplugged from the main power source. It will quickly discharge your battery - yes, VISIBLY (whatever that may mean) - possibly putting your MBP into deep hibernation mode since the battery will be quickly drained.

  • IPad charger used for iPod Touch, now won't charge iPad

Hello everyone! I need help. :( This is what happened. i charged my iPod Touch with the charger that came with my iPad 2 and the iPod charged okay. Now I connected the charger to my iPad and there was no response at all (no charging or not charging sign).
This is the second time this happened. The first time was when my aunt used the iPad charger for her iPhone 4 which charged okay. When I used it for my iPad after, it did not work as in now. What I did the first time was connect the charger's detachable head (see image http://www.thefonestuff.com/product_images/c/441/MB706_AV1__57136_zoom.jpg) to a Macbook charger. The Macbook charged okay and when I reconnected it to my iPad, the iPad began to charge as usual.
I don't understand what happened. Was the charger somewhat "inactivated" in both instances because it was connected to a device that required a different amount of power? Without the Macbook charger, how can I "restore" the charger to its "iPad-optimized" state?
    Thank you for your reply!

Changing the detachable head and changing it back, might wiggle an internal connection that is loose inside either the charger or the head.
It is also possible your charger cable has a bad connection.  Either way, I think you need to contact Apple about it.

  • Charging iPod touch with old AC-Firewire adapter?

    Hello,
I just recently bought an iPod touch, and wanted to know if it will work to charge it with the AC-Firewire adapter from my 2nd gen iPod. I also have the car charger for the 2nd gen. There are posts about doing it with an AC-usb adapter, but I didn't find anything about Firewire.
If no one knows, will it hurt to try it? I just don't want to screw up my new one. Thanks for the help.

Charging the iPod touch with FireWire is not possible.
Plugging it in won't hurt it but it will pop up a message saying that it will not charge.

  • My iPod touch 3G won't charge. Help?

About 2 days ago, I went to charge my iPod touch with the power adapter and the USB cord. I found that it wasn't working. I tried 5 different USB cords, including my brother's (who has the same iPod), my other brother's (who has the 4G touch) and my 3 USB's (one from the first nano chromatic, one from my 3rd generation video iPod and the one I received when I bought the iPod touch). All of them didn't work. However, when I tinkered with one of the USB's, I was able to charge it for one night.I tried it again, and the whole "charging doesn't support this device" schpiel. I connected to iTunes, attempted restarting, restoring and turning on the iPod, but it died.
    Please help!

I think you have a couple of hardware problem:
    - The grayed-out wifi indicate one hardware problem:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
    - Not using a battery for extended periods of time can cause battery failure. Thus, your battery may be dead.
    - I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

PS my ipods screen is cracked but it has benn cracked forever and i have had no issues

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic. I suspect this is your problem
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. HELP!

My 4th generation iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. I tried buying a new cable and USB charging socket (and I bought one made by Apple), but that did not fix the problem. I restored it from iTunes, hoping that would work as well, but that failed. I am at my wit's end. Can anybody here help me? I've bought new equipment, tried rebooting, restoring, etc. but nothing so far has proven successful. If anyone's got a solution, please help!
    Thanks!

All I can suggest is the standared fixes. It seems very strange
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Bring the cable and Apple wall charger too.
