Is it okay to keep mains connected when battery is fully charged

is it okay to keep the mains power connected once the battery is fully charged or should i disconnect from the mains power

There are two things that will kill an apple battery, charge cycles or lack of charge cycles. I've seen dead batteries with hundreds of cycles and others with a few dozen. You have to use it normally, meaning keep it charging, then unplug it and go use  it on the couch as it was designed to be used. I've got two good years out of mine and its still at 83% health. If it starts to die next year its no big deal, $120 for a replacement battery is a drop in the bucket when you consider the original value of the computer and the amount of use I've gotten out of it.

Keep the computer plugged in whenever possible.
If you keep the computer always plugged in, make sure that twice a month
run it on battery until battery level drops to about 50-40%.

  • When battery is fully charged, screen says to disconnect power.  User guide makes no note of this requirement...which is right?

When battery is fully charged on MiFi6620L, screen says connect power.  User guide does not indicate this is necessary.  Which is the better way.  We always use the MiFi where we have power available.

Thank you for the response.  The MiFi works off the battery just fine.  Since the unit is our only Internet connection, we have it powered up all day so it seemed to make more sense to just leave it connected to the power source.  The unit is turned off at night, but usually not disconnected from the power supply.  That is what we did with our original unit and it seemed to be OK.

  • IPad 4 switches off when i am using it, even when battery is fully charged.  Restore function (holding down both buttons) often does not work.  Cannot power up iPad.  I have updated software, restarted computer, but no success.  Please help

IPad 4 switches off when i am using it, even when battery is fully charged.  Restore function (holding down both buttons) often does not work.  Cannot power up iPad.  I have updated software, restarted computer, but no success.  I did restore the iPad about 8 times during the past 2 weeks.  Just completed another restore.  iTunes says the the iPad has been restored and will restart automatically and appear in iTunes when it is ready.  That was 30 minutes ago.  iPad still won't start.  I am looking down the barrel of yet another fruitless restore.  What a crap product.

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

  • Macbook pro has trouble turning on when battery is fully charged

I have fixed the logic board of my MacBook Pro through Apple service care around a month ago due to liquid damage. It has been working perfectly fine until reccently it has been having problem turning on when battery is fully charged to 100%. The laptop automatically shuts down and is unable to turn on again unless I unplug the charger. It still works perfectly fine when the battery is not 100% and the battery is still able to charge properly.
I still have 90 day warranty for my service repairment but I'm currently on vaccation and will not be back on time. Wondering if anyone had the same situation or solutions to the problem! Thank!

    Thanks for the help!
I have tried SMC and it doesnt seem to respond in any way. I'm not really sure what the PRAM test is.
I've tried calling Apple in the states but it requries me to pay 49 USD in order to get a tech person to talk to me.
I'm currently in Asia and we don't have any Apple Stores, we do have Authorized dealers here but I'm not sure if they will be able so assist me without asking me for service charge. Do you happen to know if there's any contact I would be able to phone without being transfered?
By the time I get back to the states I'm going to be 2 days after the 90 days warranty (August 16th)  and I don't know if I should wait and risk it?

  • MacBook Pro goes black, shows low battery even when battery is fully charged

Since updating last night via the App Store Software Update, my MacBook Pro Retina screen has been fading to black. Power is fully charged but when I press the power button, the battery-plugin to power source icon appears. I'm like, what??? My battery is charged! I plugged in my battery charger just to get the machine back to working again. It's never done this before. I'm blaming this new software update!

Same problem. Just sitting beside me on the table occasionally the screen light up for no reason flashing the red low battery screen. Pressing home, power, etc a few times brings the phone up and shows the true battery charge which is wherever it would normally be - from full to partial discharge depending on how much Ive used it. Seems to not really be indicating something with the battery but ore of a random phantom ghost bug in the OS somewhere that displays that screen for no reason.

  • My MacBook pro will not start up and it keeps beeping.   The battery is fully charged.

MacBook pro went to sleep last night.  This morning plugged it in to charge the battery.  It will not turn on now.  According to the plug and the battery display lights on the side, it is fully charged.  It is also beeping every 5 to 6 seconds.

    You have ram issues.

  • Z60T 2513 hibernates after 20-30 mins, even when battery is fully charged

Old battery was shot, so don't know if this was a problem before or if it is new.  After 20-30 mins running on battery power, even though the power meter shows the battery is still 85-90% charged, the computer automatically goes into hibernation.  I cannot stop it and don't know what is causing it.  I have checked the power management settings in the control panel and ThinkVantage, and don't see anything unusual, but I don't know for sure.  The computer is running Windows XP SP3, w/ McAfee AV.  Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Ipod touch 5th gen wont sync when battery is fully charged

    1. My ipod touch will sync just fine if it is currently charging (ie on its way to a full battery).
    2. If however it gets fully charged and the sync is not complete it will stop the sync cold, eject the ipod, reconnect, and attempt the whole process again (ipod backup, check what needs to be synced, begin syncing).
    3. It never gets all the way through the subsequent sync attempts as the battery charge complete indication on the ipod screen comes up periodically and we go back to step 2 every time.
Any suggestions, questions, or concerns about my method or settings I could change would be greatly appreciated?

    Reboot coputer
    Try another USB port
    Try another cable

  • Low Battery Screen when battery is fully charged

My phone has started displaying the low battery screen, and refusing to do anything, after being unplugged from the charger for a few hours. The battery is fully charged, but after only 1-2 hours, the phone starts to display that warning screen and going back off. Sometimes, if you push the home key as soon as the warning screen goes off, it will come up normally. Sometimes, it won't.
I believe this all started (along with the texting issues several other people have had) after the last update, I believe it is 2.2.1.
Is anybody else having this issue? I have drained the battery and restored, I have reset the settings at least twice, I have forced a restart... any other suggestions? Thanks!

When the battery gets fully charged, and the charger is still connected to the iPad, does the iPad use power from the battery or does it use the charger?
