Is it okay to upgrade to QT 7.2?

I can't remember where I read this but a while back, I remember seeing something about when folks upgraded to 7.2 they were having some issues...is this true or false? I have not updated my QT Pro to 7.2 yet.

7.2 brings "Full Screen" playback to the free player. That feature used to be available only to "Pro" users.
As with any upgrade don't do it if you're in the middle of a project. Since QuickTime is also used by nearly every application on your machine you should do routine maintenance before installing it.

Shouldn't be a problem if your Mac can run Mavericks > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
As for Safari. When you say not responding, do you mean it won't open a window, or it won't load websites, or it won't launch at all?

I was concerned like you and googled existing problems BEFORE I updatet. I found some threads in Forums about trouble with bootcamp and windows after updating. So I called Apple Support and asked them directly and they insured me that it should not have any problems as ong as you have a legal copy of windows installed in a bootcamp. They said they have bootcamp installed on all of ther mashines they using at the hotline and they did not have any problems updating them to Lion.
But there seem to be problems with Paralles desktops....or virtuel machines.
So I was courages and did it.
I have got an MBP 2011 13" I7 8GB with windows 7 in a clean bootcamp installation running ( Harddrive is 750 GB, 500 for Windows and 250 for Mac OS) and my windows 7 is my main OS. This is why I was so nervous.
AND???? I had ABSOLUTLEY NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.
Downloaded Lion from the Appstore and updated to Lion and everything works fine. My bootcamp Windows partion is still there, works perfect like before.
Only thing the update does is changing the start up drive back to Mac OS..I have got it set on set on Windows. But you can swap it back in the windows bottcamp settings...thats it!

OS 10.4 , upgrade unsuccessful

My recent attempt to upgrade my iMac G4 from OS 10.1 to OS 10.4. was unsuccessful. I could really use some help figuring out what to try next.
I encountered problems right away, on the CPU Drop In Disc 1. Disk First Aid kicked in to try to fix the problem. I kept seeing a message "incorrect threading records."
Ultimately, a message displayed that Disk First Aid couldn't repair the problem, and the upgrade failed. Not sure if this means there's a problem on my hard drive that prevented a successful install or what. I've never had any issues with this iMac in the five years I've owned it.
The troubleshooting section in the Tiger install guide seems to suggest that using "Erase and Install" is my only remaining option. I really don't want to resort to this if I don't have to.
The upgrade is a pack of five black CDs — the retail version, I believe. I haven't run any disk repair utilities on this computer in quite some time, and wonder if that may be worth a try.
Anyone have any suggestions on things to try that may correct the problem and allow me to do a simple upgrade, instead of an "Erase and Install"? Thanks!

My iMac is a G4 with 384MB of RAM, so I should be okay to upgrade, right?
You're right that you can't do a simple upgrade. I just tried running the disk repair one more time from CPU Drop in Disk 1. Because I have OS 10.1, I have to choose "Archive" and something like "Previous settings." It appears this option just saves your old system files in a separate folder, then imports your settings to the new system once you upgrade.
I just tried to run the disk repair on my hard drive. It was unsuccessful in three attempts. The problem appears to be "Incorrect number of thread records."
Is there some other disk repair utility out there that may be able to fix this problem? Or something else that may work? Anyone have any ideas?
I've never had any issues with my hard drive before when upgrading or installing software. I'd really like to avoid having to erase my entire hard drive in order to upgrade, but the manual suggests that "Erase and Install" is my only remaining option.

No issues but there are changes.
Have you your photos organised in Rolls in v6? If so, make sure that each roll has a name other than the default one. So make sure your Roll 123 is named Spring 06 or whatever, otherwise the rolls will be split into Events. The primary difference between Events and Rolls is that Events are based on the date the pics were taken, rolls on the dates the pic were imported.
You can rename rolls using the Info Pane (wee 'i', lower left) the name and date fields are editable.
If you've no interest in Rolls, then ignore the above.
Other than that make a back up, of course. Then update iLife and simply launch iPhoto. It will ask is it okay to upgrade the library. Say yes and off you go.
With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. Before you panic:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.

To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Can't access iPhoto library, iPhoto apparently automatically upgraded to v 9.3

I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

Go to Photos > iPhoto Library and Control Click on it. Go to Show Package Contents and back up your Originals folder and whatever else you want to a backup drive. Then go ahead and update iPhoto and if you do happen to lose any photos then you know you have the ability to import them again.

10.5 Upgrade

I just upgraded my iMac G5 from 10.3.9 to 10.4.11. It went so well I am now considering upgrading to 10.5.6 (if that's the latest version). Is this worth doing? Is it okay to upgrade an upgrade? If so what do I need in the way of software and how do I get it?

Yes, you can upgrade to 10.5.8, which is the last update for Leopard. You will need a Leopard retail installer DVD that you can purchase from AppleCare:

Yes.
If you have v9 Installed, the upgrade installer will see it.
If you do not have v9 installed, the upgrade installer will ask for the v9 serial number.
Then.. it will ask for the v10 serial number.

RH 8: Error: Cannot Read RHFrameStyleMappings.apj

We recently upgraded from RH7 to RH8. One of our project files (.xpj) would not open. After clicking Okay to Upgrade to RH8 I got a message "Error: Cannot Read RHFrameStyleMappings.apj". I decided to try copying RHFrameStyleMappings.apj from another project folder into the project folder of the project file that would not open. Then when trying to open the project file again I received this message "Error: Cannot Read RHFrameDoc.apj" and once again I copied it over from another file. I tried opening it again and it worked. I also tried generating the project to make sure it worked and it appears to work as normal. My question is if there is any reason my copying the two .apj files over could cause problems with the project file or if I should consider the problem fixed. Thanks!

Don't know why my iCloud Storage is gone. Help!

iCloud Storage Error
I try to free up all my devices that use iCloud for backup.
As you can see, the total size is just 663.1MB.
and I do backup only the stuffs like Keynote, Pages and Mail which takes only, 125.2MB, 723.9KB and 78KB.
I don't backup Camera Roll at all.
The total space I am using should be 790MB maximum.
But iCloud service notified me that the available space is only 71MB left.
I am okay to upgrade if it is more logical. I don't know how they count space.
Any ideas/ help ?

I have the same issue. I have no backups on my Ipad, iPhone on icloud, only 124,8MB of Pages, Numbers and Preview documents, 5,9MB of icloud mail and th rest should only be what's ticked, ie. Contacts, iCal, Notes. And out of 5GB I have 444Mb free space. What takes up the rest? And from yesterday, when it was still 660 MB it shrank to this 444MB.
Any ideas?

ITunes 10.4.1 in OS 10.6.8

Okay, after upgrading iTunes to 10.4.1, I can no longer use it. I am currently running OS 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro. When I try to launch iTunes, I get this message: "Running iTunes in 64-bit mode requires Mac OS X 10.7 or later. To run iTunes in 32-bit mode, select the iTunes application in the Finder, choose the "Get Info" command in the File menu, and check the "Open in 32-bit mode" checkbox in the iTunes Info window."
I followed the instructions and there is no where in the Info window that shows "Open in 32-bit mode". I've even logged in as Administrator, but same results. I do not see anywhere on this Mac that shows "Open in 32-bit mode".
Is there anyway that I can go about changing iTunes to "Open in 32-bit mode"? If not, is there any way that I can download an older version of iTunes so that I can open the application? Upgrading to 10.7 is not an option for me right now.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

No, it does not look like that at all. That one shows the option to Open in 32-bit mode.

To Whom It May Concern:
I've tried searching the website for awhile, but have been unable to locate an email address for customer service contact.
Today, 11/9/14, I accompanied a friend to the Verizon store on the Avenue in White Marsh, MD to upgrade his phone. Dave, the sales representative working with us, was very helpful in understanding the changes with the new tiered plans (we were originally on the unlimited data plan, which we were told we were no longer allowed to keep, so much for loyalty), explaining the phone features, and the Verizon edge. Upon check-out time, Dave's tablet was having issues processing the changes. After a few tries, we were moved to the back of the store at the computers.
Due to the Edge plan, the only payment due today was the purchased phone case. While processing on the computers, a signature box popped up on the credit card payment device for $293.85. This did not make sense for just a case and Dave could not even find that number on his computer screen. He went to get the manager Kenya. She seemed perturbed by the interruption and informed him that the device "always says that" and to "just sign." I said no, we were not signing or authorizing charges that said an amount we weren't paying. She replied asking if we had swiped a credit card, we said no, and then with attitude asked "now how did we think we were going to get charged if we didn't swipe?" I answered that my friend has a card on file to pay his bill and she snapped that the store and the online accounts are not linked. I'm sure that her and Dave cannot see the card number, but considering this is going through MyVerizon, which his card is attached to, that information is connected in some manner. At this point, she declared that she would sign, and leaned over the counter, took the stylus, and signed for him. (Should be between 4:10 pm and 4:30pm if you'd like to verify with the security system footage)
I'm appalled that an employee, especially a member of management, would sign for him. I do not see how that is an acceptable action in the slightest. She was rude and over stepped boundaries. Sure, she didn't sign his exact name, but she also didn't write anything like "Customer Refused" or "Machine Display Incorrect", she made the standard squiggle signature, one I'm sure most everyone has made at some point, so it looks like it could very well be credible. Inaccurate machines are not an excuse - Kenya indicated that this problem had been ongoing for quite some time. Resolve it; either repair or replace the equipment; do not ask customers for their signatures, which indicate an acceptance of liability for any of the terms attached for charges they did not accrue.
I certainly would not sign for something that was incorrect and I most certainly do not find it a conscionable business practice that Verizon managers believe they can sign for a customer.

My concern is not that the receipt/transaction is currently incorrect, it is that an employee felt that they could reach over the counter and sign the pad for us. According to her, we were signing an okay to upgrade phones. According to the screen, the signature was authorizing Verizon to charge $293.85. I understand that the store does not personally have access to the credit card, but they do have access to the account that has the credit card linked. She would not skip the step or clear the transaction because "it would just happen again - the machine always says that". If they are asking for signatures, they need to get the screen fixed, not continue with the defect. Not only are they asking for discrepant signatures, but she was rude and wrong in her methods of "correcting the problem". It was clearly not the first time a customer was not okay with the screen.

I have an Ipod touch 5th g.
After upgrade to ios7, it went all insane - I could not sync it with my iTunes. I was "okay, major upgrade, let's reset it".
After reset, everything went fine til now (I reset device on 20th september or so, it makes about 3 months).
Today, after morning re-sync, my album artworks (&some artist artworks) are messed up.
Most of my music is from iTunes store. Some (15%) is from my old CDs.
What should I do?
Reset is an option, but it stinks (e.g.: any iDevice is a thing that supposed to 'just work')

Well okay, I've unsynced/synced the device and waited a week.
For most time it was O.K., however after 2nd purchase my album art is all messed up again.
Unsyncing again.. Feeling somewhat strange.
