Is it Possible for iTunes 10.5 on Lion OS sync with Outlook?

Hi all,
I am a newbie to Mac, I want to know if Itunes 10.5 running on Lion can Sync with Outlook 2011.
When i Plug my ihpone in the Itune shows "sync with Ical, Addressbook" instead of "sync with outlook" where all information on address book, calander, notes and etc will be all managed under outlook..
Please advice
Thank you.

Hello, heatsiphonman,
I am having the exact same issue with my 5G iPod. I tried a clean restart (with no memory of open windows), and all the other suggestions via the support website and it's still a no-go. Not sure where to go from here. It seems like it may be a Lion issue or a combination of Lion and iTunes 10.5. I may take it in to an Apple store and see if I can get it to sync there. Meanwhile, I'll keep a close eye on this topic to see if anyone else might be having this issue.
Mike.

  • TS3297 Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked WD external hard drive and sync to my iPhone? I prefer to not keep all my music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked Western Drive external hard drive so I can sync to my Mac to my iPhone? I do not want to keep any music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 to itunes match a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

    Hi turingtest2,
Thank you for replying.  I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive.  A bit of background info.  My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work.  I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music).  I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me.  However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders.  Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder.  The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder.  I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel.  I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify:  I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked.  However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.
I'm glad you picked up my message and greatly appreciate your help.

  • Have tried to install icloud 4.0 for windows and again it does not allow syncing with outlook 2013 calendar and contact using windows 8.1 and IOS 8.02 (unexpected error)? I thought itunes 12.0 and icloud 4.0 would solve issue but still same result.

I have tried to install icloud 4.0 for windows and again is does not allow syncing with outlook 2013 calendar and contact, using windows 8.1 and IOS 8.02 (get - unexpected error)?

Having same issues. had been syncing every few days with outlook 2007 contacts and calendar but since updated to 4.0.2 and latest itunes I get an error that it is unable to sync. I can't seem to find any solution.

  • Fix for iTunes 9.1 sync with Outlook 2007

Like many others, iTunes 9.1 broke syncing my iPhone 3G calendar and contacts with my Outlook 2007 (Windows 7). Here’s what worked for me:
    1. Uninstall all Apple software, using the instructions in this tech note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    2. Download iTunes 9.0.3.15 and install it. (Search the Web for it, no thanks to Apple.)
    3. Restore from backup week-old copies of the iTunes library files “iTunes Library.itl” and “iTunes Music Library.xml”, since the latest versions were written by version 9.1 and not readable 9.0.3.15.
    4. Restore things I had changed in my iTunes in the last week.
    Things that didn’t work:
    a. The steps in this Apple tech note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1692
including resetting sync history and disabling third-party Outlook add-ins.
    b. Restoring the iPhone to factory settings and then syncing.
    c. Help > Run Diagnostics > iPhone / iTouch Sync Test.

You are exactly right. iTtunes 9.1 breaks the sync with Outlook 2007. Tried all the fixes and even got a new phone from the Apple Store after being "helped" by customer support. It's not your phone, it's the update. iTtunes 9.0 works fine. The customer support people will tell you this is the first they have heard of it. Delete 9.1, search web for 9.0, and install. I could not do system restore since I installed and uninstalled about 10 different things troubleshooting. I just deleted iTunes library from program files (hope my iPod will put music back) to get around the library file problem. Now works. Hey, maybe we should work for Apple since we know more than their tech support people. Can't believe they are not aware of issue between the iPhone and Outlook.

  • FW Upgrade 2.0 - possible to sync with Outlook locallylocally?

    Hi,
do somebody know if it will be possible to sync the iPhone with Outlook locally or just with the MS Exchange Server?

    GeMan wrote:
    Hi Paul,
sure you are right of course. To sync with Outlook you need to run iTunes and this does not work with Win2000 to my knowledge. Unfortunately I have to use Win2000 at work and looking for a way to use my iPhone there as well.
I don't recall reading that you had Windows 2000. In that case, short of using Exhange to get contact information or web based email, you are out of luck. Apple clearly dictates the requirements for the iPhone as being at least windows XP.

  • Have used 1 computer to sync my iphone 5 but today I get message about itunes erasing everything because I am synced with other library. what's up with that?

My Toshiba Satellite is all I have ever used to sync my iPhone 5. I don't know what is going on today but iTunes seems to think I am "synced" with another computer. I have a couple of hours of voice memos that I would hate to lose but iTunes asks if I want to "erase and sync with this Itunes library". If it weren't for the voice memos I'd do it since all the other data is stored in itunes. What can I do? I've restarted both devices thinking it might help with no luck. Is there a way to remove the memos without itunes. The smallest memo is about 45 min long on up  to 2 hrs +.

I'm guessing this is a problem unique to me as there have been no replies at all...  Thanks a bunch folks

  • My itunes says that my ipod is synced with another library when it is not and cannot update or sync without wiping it and all its data

My itunes says that my ipod is synced with another library when it is not and cannot update or sync without wiping it and all its data
    Can anyone help me

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
All media content will be erased during the first sync, but you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Sync with Outlook ONLY for a specific date range

I have a Zire 31 that I'm syncing with Outlook via latest Palm Desktop/HotSync.   I did just install the latest conduit.
I was getting several repeating calendar entries that were not syncing with the Zire (annual birthdays, etc.) - turns out that they did not have an "end-date" specified when created in Outlook.  Creating an end-date solved the problem.
However - I would like to know if it is possible to specify a certain date range for the device to sync (e.g., sync calendar only for years 2007 through 2050, or in other words sync from 1 year ago to 50 years in future, etc...)
I recall specifying this once years ago, but I may have been using a third party to sync with Lotus Notes at the time.  I'm wondering if this option is also available with syncing directly with Outlook using HotSync???  I can't imagine it's not, but I can't find where you specify it.
One more interesting note:  while my Zire 31 had issues syncing those repeating calendar entries - my much older HandSpring Visor Deluxe syncs them no problem!  Go figure.
    Thanks much -
    Post relates to: Zire 31

I'm not actually looking to purge old items.
Rather - I would like to ONLY sync calendar entries between a specified range of dates.  For example - ONLY sync for calendar entries between Jan 1 2007 and Jan 1, 2050.
the problem is that I have some repeating entries (birthdays, etc.) that are set up in Outlook with no end date.  Apparently Palm/HotSync is having trouble syncing these (they don't show up at all - for any year.)
One resolution is to apply an end-date for each repeating calendar entry.  However, this is just another step my wife needs to remember to do.  If you happen to forget to to this, then Hotsync will ignore that entry.  Fine if you realize that's happening, but if you forget and forget to check - you won't even know it didn't sync!
The other possible resolution is to only have HotSync sync for a SPECIFIC date range - one that does not presumably go to infinity.  That is my question - how does one sync ONLY for a specific date range.  Has nothing to do with purging old entries.
    Thanks!!

  • Unable to sync with Outlook 2010 Calendar after upgrade to iTune 10.5.1

    Hi,
I am using iTunes 10.5.0.142 running on Windows 7 Ultimate Edition and Office 2010 Professional, with iPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1.
After I upgraded to iTunes 10.5.1, I was not able to sync with Outlook's Calendar.  However, if I use the option to overwrite all calendar entries from the computer to the iPhone, I was able to get my appointments across.  But added new appointments in Outlook did not appear in the iPhone after syncing. Syncing contacts seem to work OK so far.
This was very similar to a problem I had when I moved to iTunes 9.2.1 to get iOS 4.0 back in Dec 2010.  This was later resolved in later builds of iTunes 10.0.
Please look into this and see what are the differences in dealing with calendar syncing between iTunes 10.5.0.142 and your latest iTunes 10.5.1.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Gordon

I have a solution that seems to fit globally...
When you download and install Office 2010, you have 3 choices that you may not be aware of: 32-bit, 64-bit, click-to-run.
    32-BIT
The 32 bit version is your typical office installation. You need to download the installer and let Office integrate with your system, just like every version to this point has done. This works with iTunes.
    64-BIT
I haven't heard anything good about this version yet. Reports say it won't allow syncing with iTunes and various other plugins. Installation works the same as the 32 bit version.
    CLICK-TO-RUN
This is a new installation method devised by Microsoft.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office2010/archive/2009/11/06/click-to-run-delivering -office-in-the-21st-century.aspx
It essentially runs Office as a virtualization on a new Q drive. That means there are no EXE files for iTunes to find. Also, iTunes will not be able to locate a default mail program, even though you have Outlook set as such.
Download time is hugely faster with C2R and updates are seamless. Kinda big brothery to me. If you want to reinstall office with a full, true version, log into your MSN account with the account you used to purchase the software, click my account, click download next the the product you purchased, then click Advanced Options and select the 32-bit version. You will need to uninstall Office 2010 before attempting a new install.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Says My Contacts Are Being Synced With Microsoft Exchange, But I Don't Have An Exchange Account

iTunes says my contacts are being synced with Microsoft Exchange over the air, but I do not have an Exchange account, and I have disabled over the air syncing on both my iPhone 4, as well as in iTunes. How do I remedy this? I did a complete Restore on my phone to rectify this, but got the same results.
I have worked for a couple of hours now; at first, none of my contacts were syncing with Outlook, even though iTunes said they were. Then after checking and unchecking everything I could find relating to syncing, some of my contacts synced. Now I've managed to get them all synced, but still getting this message. I need to make sure that going forward, all changes and updates are correctly synced manually whenever I plug my phone into my computer. Any suggestions?

You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC.  You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher.  After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

  • Itunes 12.1.0.71 will not sync with outlook

After installing iTunes 12.1.0.71 I can no longer sync with Outlook 2013.

I fought with this problem (iPhone 5s, Windows 8.1, Outlook 2010) for hours this weekend. I'm surprised I have any hair left. Here's how I fixed it.
Back up iTunes (shouldn't be necessary, but always a good idea):
Back up your iTunes library by copying it to an external drive - Apple Support
Uninstall iTunes (follow these carefully--lots of steps):
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Reinstall this 32-bit version of iTunes 12.1.0.71 (ignore the file name & installer window that act like it's 64-bit), "for older video cards":
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
You might follow the Reset Sync History instructions here before trying it out (not the whole page, just the Reset Sync History heading):
Troubleshooting Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010 - Apple Support

  • ITune not in sync with outlook...

Hi every one...my firts post here in this forum..
I just got my first ipod (5thG 30gig)and have the latest iTunes installed(v.7.0.2.16)with OS Windows XP SP2.
When i try and sync my contacts and calender from outlook iTunes keeps crashing saying it's encountered a problem and must quit.... I can still use iTunes to load music etc. but as soon as i tic the box for sync with outlook it crashes...
Is there anyone else with the same problem...and more importenly....is there a solution??
I've downloaded "ipodsync" trial version so i do have all the info on my ipod, trial runs out shortly and will need to use iTunes to sync my calender etc. I could buy the product but it would seem uneccesary since iTune is "allegedly" capable of doing the job.
    Please help...!!!!!

I think I may have solved this problem by making sure I don't have conflicts in my Outlook Calendar.
To find conflicts, open Outlook and view your Calendar and set the view to "Active Appointments" (list of current calendar entries) and check that the list doesn't include entries with warnings (a red icon is shown beside the appointment I think). Fix the conflicts and then the Calendar sync might start to work.
I had the same problem as you and then I started experimenting with Outlook macros for exporting in bulk the Calendar. When running my macro against Calendar entries, I came across an error message while debugging that made me clue-in on this problem.

  • While watching a tv show in itunes the audio is not in sync with the character mouth movement

while watching a tv show in itunes the audio is not in sync with the character mouth movement

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I believe the default transfer option for TV Shows is to transfer all unplayed TV Shows. If you've already played them, this may be the reason they are not transferring any longer. Double check the preferences:
    1) Connect your iPod to the computer and select it when it appears in iTunes under source (on the left).
    2) Click the TV Shows tab
    3) Make sure it is set to transfer all TV Shows, not just unplayed ones.
    4) Click Apply/Ok

  • Still won't Sync with Outlook! (So much for update!)

Man this really *****. Still no fix for it syncing with outlook on my PC!
I'm seriously considering switching back to a palm pilot! I have to have to have a sync-able calendar!
It worked with an old version of itunes but then stopped working with newer versions!
Been on the the phone with tech support on 2 occasions now and they could not fix the problem!

Hmmm, I'm able to sync fine with Outlook 2003. Unfortunately, the iPhone won't sync with any Outlook versions prior to that one.
I was upset and frustrated too, but some savvy net searching yielded a fully licensed, legit copy of Outlook 2003 for less than $40. I actually like it better than previous versions of Outlook and see it as a great upgrade, and it syncs with the iPhone. Upon installation, it brought over my old Calendar, Contacts, etc. It's all there.
I've ditched using Yahoo! calendar and contacts as I never felt comfortable with putting my friends and family's information on the internet.
    Hope this helps. Cheers!
