Is it possible in InDesign to repeat previous command?

I am eager to know is there a way to repeat the previous command in your ID file using keyboard shortcuts?
For example in Word you can use F4 to do this.

As far as I know there is no equivalent to MS Office's Redo Last Action command (I use Ctrl-Y) in Indesign. I asked a year or two ago and learnt a lot about setting up keyboard shortcuts for styles and using Transform again and so on, but no universal Redo.
Have a look at EasyHistory ($9.99) which might help. Their free multiple-undo plug-in works perfectly and I use it all the time.

  • In MS Office, F4 repeats previous command.  How do I do that in Numbers?

Ok--one of the most useful keyboard shortcuts I took advantage of when I had MS Excel was the F4 button, which repeats previous command.  It worked for just about any command.
Is there an equivalent command in Numbers?

    Corim,
No, no such command in Numbers. Just remember what you just did and do it again.

  • Solution for production that can repeating previous operation

    Dear SAPper,
    currently we have tile client.
The producion operation can repeat previous operation of the result is not good.
for example the current process :
    crushing -> weighting -> milling -> spray drying -> pressing -> glazing -> firing ->sorting -> firing
    Case1:
At the result of glazing before enter firing cabin, if the color is not good (too dark) then they can repeat the opreation glazing again
    Case2:
At the result of the first firing before sorting, the color to dard, the operation glazing is repeated again.
How can i maintain the producion flow for repeated operation (optional repeating if the color to dark)?
    Any idea is very appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Freddy

Case1: Since the operation glazing is already done and cost has also been captured, time has been confimed u have to insert one more operation with the same setting as glazing. Name the operation as glazing2, maintain WC, operation time etc every thing like the 1st glazing operation.
Similarly for other repeated operation. In this way u will have all informations in the prod order which u can use later for reporting purpose. U can use separete control key for identification as which are the planned and which are repeated.
I think this is the best simple way u can adopt.
People also use trigger points, but I am not convinced to use that.

  • USE of PREVIOUS command to eliminate duplicate records in counter formula

i'm trying to create a counter formula to count the number of documents paid over 30 days.  to do this i have to subtract the InvDate from the PayDate.   and then create a counter based on this value.  if {days to pay} is greater than 30 then 1 else 0.
then sum the {days to pay} field to each group.   groups are company, month, and supplier.
becuase invoices can have multiple payments and payments can have multiple invoices. there is no way around having duplicate records for the field.
so my counter is distorted by by the duplicate records and my percentage of payments over 30 days formula will not be accurate do to these duplicates.
I've tried Distinct Count based on this formula  if {days to pay} is greater than 30 then . and it works except that is counts 0.00 has a distinct records so my total is off 1 for summaries with a record that (days to pay} is less than or equal to 30.
if i subract 1 from the formula then it will be inaccurate for summaries with no records over 30 days.
    so i'm come to this.
    if Previous() do not equal
    then
      if {day to days} greater than 30
      then 1
      else 0.00
    else 0.00
but it doesn't work.  i've sorted the detail section by
does anyone have any knowledge or success using the PREVIOUS command in a report?
Edited by: Fred Ebbett on Feb 11, 2010 5:41 PM

So, you have to include all data and not just use the selection criteria 'PayDate-InvDate>30'?
You will need to create a running total on the RPDOC ID, one for each section you need to show a count for, evaluating for your >30 day formula.
I don't understand why you're telling the formula to return 0.00 in your if statement.
In order to get percentages you'll need to use the distinct count (possibly running totals again but this time no formula). Then in each section you'd need a formula that divides the two running totals.
I may not have my head around the concept since you stated "invoices can have multiple payments and payments can have multiple invoices".  So, invoice A can have payments 1, 2 and 3.  And Payment 4 can be associated with invoice B and C?  Ugh.  Still though, you're evaluating every row of data.  If you're focus is the invoices that took longer than 30 days to be paid...I'd group on the invoice number, put the "if 'PayDate-InvDate>30' then 1 else 0" formula in the detail, do a sum on it in the group footer and base my running total on the sum being >0 to do a distinct count of invoices.
Hope this points you in the right direction.

  • Why the step-and-repeat function (command+d) isn't working in Illustrator CS5?

Why the step-and-repeat function (command+d) isn't working in Illustrator CS5?
I am trying this. Take an object, move it some inches on the right while holding the option key, so I duplicate it.
Usually, I pressed on command+d to duplicate this action on and on (duplicate the object and moving it some inches away), but now it is not working.
    any idea?

    kwakoo,
It may be time for the list:
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Is it possible to run Acrobat3D from the command line?

I'd like to know if it is possible to run Arobat3D from the command line in batch mode. I'm interested in knowing if this is possible in either a windows or unix environment.
My objective is to convert CAD data e.g. CATIA V5 or DXF etc to PDF, in batch mode without using the Acrobat3D interface itself.
I know that it's possible to run a batch process from within Acrobat3D itself, therefore one solution may be to invoke those batch processes from the command line.
I've looked through the other listings on this forum and seen this question asked previously, but I've not seen any responses that suggest this is even a feasible concept.

As of now, it's not possible in the cmd-mode to just remain connected and not stream.
But the reason you want to do that is because of the long start-up time. That 20 sec time can be divided into:
    1. launch time
    2. time to start encoding (after pressing start button) -> cannot be reduced even if 'connected only' feature is available in cmd-line
Below are tips you can use to reduce this 20 sec of time:
    1. Lesser the no. of devices connected to the system, shorter is the launch time. Disable the devices which are not to be used in the session.
    2. Try using device indexes (0, 1, 2, etc) instead of device names in the profile. Indexes might change after you disable some of the devices.
    3. Use the profile with correct settings, to avoid any validation errors.
    4. Higher the video size, higher is the overall time. Small sizes take lesser time to start.
Let me know if you see any improvement in the startup time.

  • Terminal won't accept command. Keeps "Restoring" previous command

    Hi,
I am on OSX 10.9.5 and I have a mysterious problem with Terminal restoring old commands after I insert a new command, so I can't get it to accept the new command.
A greyed out line appears in the Terminal window saying [Restored] as in the attached pic. (I have blurred my ID details in the pic).
I have also tried to restore it to defaults in Preferences, but it won't do that either. I just get [Restored] again.
Has anyone got any ideas what is making it do this please?
Just for background, I had originally entered the command line:
defaults write com.apple.mail AddressesIncludeNameOnPasteboard -bool false
and I am trying to change it back by entering the command line:
defaults write com.apple.mail AddressesIncludeNameOnPasteboard -bool true
But as I say, it won't accept it. It just restores the previous command, and it won't restore defaults either.
    Thanks
    Sarah

do you have any of the following files?
    .bash_profile
    .bash_login
    .bashrc
    .profile
If so, then it is possible this message is coming from a shell initialization file.
Because these files begin with a period, the Finder will not display them so you are going to have to use the Terminal " ls -a " command.
    Terminal -> Shell -> New Command... ->    /bin/ls -l .bash_profile .bash_login .profile .bashrc
These files DO NOT exist by default, so you may see things like
-ls: .bash_login: No such file or directory
-ls: .profile: No such file or directory
    That is perfectly OK.
    But if you see:
    -rw-r--r--  1 me  staff  32776 Feb  6 14:10 .bash_profile
    -rw-r--r--  1 me  staff  63633 Feb  4 15:04 .bashrc
Then you have one of the files, and it is possible that the contents of that shell initialization script are affecting the behavior inside the Terminal.

  • How do I repeat a command in numbers?

Excel has the capability to repeat and undo a command.  It appears Numbers can only undo a command (CMD-z).  Does Numbers have the capbility to repeat a command?

Undo applies to (almost) any action, not just commands.
Its opposite, Re-do (shift-command-Z) applies only to something that has been Undone.
Numbers has no equivalent to Excel's Repeat feature.
Feature enhancement request may be made via Provide Numbers Feedback, found in the Numbers menu.

  • SQL Plus command line: Arrow keys not giving previous commands back

As in tittle, I'm using sqlplus on Windows XP and OEL 5.5 and I can use up,down arrows in Windows to select previous command but I can't do it in Linux.
My DB is 11gR2 on OEL 5.5 .

    Hi,
Sorry, I don't know anything about Linux. The up-arrow feature on Windows seems to be provided by the operating system, not by Oracle. I would guess it's that way on Linux, too.
In Windows, there's one more thing that affect this: Properties -> Options -> Command History. Perhaps Linux has something similar.
In Windows (not just SQL*Plus or Oracle programs) if you right-click on the title bar at the top of a window, uyou get a small drop-down.
If you select the last item, "Properties", you get a small window with 4 tabs, the 1st of which is "Options".
On that "Options" tab, there are some settings for "Command History", oncluding Buffer Size. That seems to be the number of old ommands it will keep. You can set it to 0, but that seems to still keep 1 old command available via up-arrow.
Sorry I don't know any more.

  • IPad syncing keeps repeating previously synced songs!

    Hi
Everytime I sync my iPad with Macbook Pro it repeats the syncing of songs previously synced. Sometimes it can be as much as 2,500 songs which takes time especially when in a rush. On other occasions it will be just 200.
Any observations on why this occurs?

It is not possible to sync an iPad to an iPhone or any other iDevice for that matter.
All syncing is done via iTunes.

  • InDesign CS4 repeated crashes

    Hi
We have been using InDesign CS4 for several months now, and suffer repeated crashes.  Our systems support contractors have looked at the network, and say its a software issue.  Running it on 2 PCs, Windows 7 OS.
Initaially we thought it was network latency issues, and certainly the number of crashes have reduced since we co-located all InDesign and image files on the PC's hard drive rather than on a network storage device.  However, the application is still prone to crashing.
Certain actions seem to spark a crash; but not always.  Applying character styles, applying master pages to existing document pages, duplicating spreads and moving pages within the document are all risky actions.
The symptom of a crash are sometimes just a freeze, with no associated warning.  That requires a CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the windows task manager which will show InDesign as not responding.  Alternatively, one gets a warning from InDesign that it has encountered an unexpected problem and needs to shut down.
Now we are working exlusively from our hard drives (I've even tried working with the network cable un-plugged to ensure I'm not inadvertantly linked to a resouce on a network sortage system), we get fewer crashes; maybe just 5 or 6 a day.  Before it could be 10-20.

    Hi,
Would you please provide with some more details.
Is it happening while working with some specific file or all the files.
I would recommend to try a new user account on your machine.
Is it happneing with one specific machine or all other machines ?
Did you tried re-creating Indesign preferences.
Is it happening only with Indesign or any other Adobe or non Adobe application ?
Are you getting any error message?
Is it Freezing or closing down automatically ?
When did this issue started happening ?
If you remmember any kind of specific change after which it started happening or since the time you have installed it is happening ?
