What happened when you tried the iTunes / Cable method.?
Mobile Me no longer exists and iCloud requires 10.7.5 or more, upgrade your version of OS X.

Have you reset the SMC?
Shut down the computer.

While you're at it, resetting the PRAM won't hurt anything and 'might' help is SMC reset didn't work (PRAM does some port control):

Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.

Something else you might try .... you don't say how you're updating to 10.6.8, however, if you're using Software Update, you might try downloading the 10.6.8 combo update, which contains all updates to 10.6. Sometimes, Software Update doesn't work quite right, and installing the combo update fixes that. Download the update from Apple's download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/ , using Disk Utility repair permissions, apply the combo update, then repair permissions again. -

I Do not clearly understand but as far as i have understood that if you want your iTunes playlist added to your iPod nano or touch automatically then you have to delete the existing songs in your iPod device and then drag the whole playlist to your device.
And next time when you add a song to the particular playlist in your Mac or pc, it will automatically be copied to your device when you plug in via usb anytime. -
My 7-year-old iMac died. I don't plan to replace it. It is backed up to Crashplan. Is it possible to restore my iPhoto library to the cloud, i.e. iCloud or Dropbox, so that I can access the photos as needed from my iPad or iPhone?
Probably not - but that certainly does not involve iPhoto for the Mac - you need to look at Crashplan support for you options
And iCloud is not a place to store photos so that is certainly not a possibility
If you restore your masters folder out of the iPhoto library you will have all of your original photos to do with what you please

I'm trying to downgrade my icloud storage; however, my MAC book will not upgrade pass 10.6.8 and I don't have my iphone anymore. If there another way for me to do this? I've tried everything I can find online and of course my coverage has expired and can't call the support team.

have you already called Apple and explained your current situation, because I don't see a way to downgrade your storage plan with a Mac only running Snow Leopard and without a iOS device running at least iOS 5.

We had the same problem, but figure out the solution.
You MUST have at least 1 song added to your ITUNE! After you add a free song, then everything else should work as normal!

We changed the iCloud account on the Mac Book and now we can not use some part of iCloud like Documents, etc on the Mac book to sync to iPad.
It says it is not the principal account.

Well I want to put all of my music on my Mac, But everytime I plug it in and ask it to sync all music it tells me that I have to erase my Ipod and sync in with the music on my Mac... Yes, I was using iTunes to sync over cable without problems since orinigal purchase in 2011 and using 10.6 w/o problem. There was an "update" in Nov 2012 that crashed the sync service. I went to the Apple Store and reviewed the problem with the Geniuses there. It was discovered at that time that the update included mandated use of iCloud but enough of the un-updated code remained that he was able to patch functions to allow Microsoft Office to still sync over iTunes.
This March (+/-) there was another "update" to 10.6 that totally destroyed the patch that was in place so there was no sync service available between Microsoft and iTunes what-so-ever. Then recently, because of some unknown process, all my notes, contacts, and calendars were erased in both my Apple utilities and Microsoft utilities.
After many hours of frustration I was able to recover most of the information to the Apple utilities only, but those were unstable. At my visit to the Apple store it was suggested that an upgrade to 10.8 might solve the stability problem. That it did but being connected to the iCloud all the time keeps using up all my Internet time and I have nothing left to check emails or do research.
This, to me, is not my problem but one created by Apple. I have searched the Internet and support groups and there doesn't seem to be a solution.
The "aircraft mode" turns off all other communication functions and is not acceptable. Neither is disconnecting/turning off Airport on my MBP.

I wish to transfer Quicken and iPhoto from the old to the new.
I tried using wired Migration Assistant and received error message.
So following directions for alternate methods I used a flash drive. It seemed to work but I received error message to the effect that the PowerPC G4 is not compatible with the new system with 2.7 GHz Intel Core.
I discissed by phone with Apple service rep who indicated that it is true that this transfer is not possible.
But this HT 3231 article seems to say that it is possible. Any suggestions?Properly configure the flash drive:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to APM then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
Copy the files from the old machine to the flash drive. Then plug the flash drive into the new computer. Copy the files from the flash drive.
You need to understand that the files are no likely to be compatible which means you may not be able to use them. But the above process will transfer the files properly. -

There is one, it's called "System Preferences". And for items like the "Dock", you can use google to find the defaults code (i.e. 2D flat Dock for Mac OS X)
Most (not all) appearance issues can be adjusted to your liking.
With a little work, you'll have your iMac looking like 2005 in no time! -
How do I remove my old iMac from my App Store and iTunes Store accounts?
Before I sold my friend my old iMac, I used the Migration Assistant to transfer all her files from her MacBook Pro to the iMac. I then deleted all my files. My old iMac and her MacBook Pro were both upgrated to Mavericks before the Migration.
Now, she is being prompted to download and install the updates for Numbers and Pages on what used to be my iMac, but the App Store displays my account identification and asks for my password.
(1) How can I delete my old iMac from my App Store and iTunes Store accounts?
(2) How can she access the App Store and iTunes Store using her own accounts?
Thanks in advance.That isn't how to prepare a Mac to sell or give away. You should deauthorize your iTunes account on the Mac. Call Apple Care and have the Mac disassociated from your Apple ID. Then erase the Mac and install the latest version of OS X that shipped installed on the Mac using the Install DVD or OS X Recovery, depending on what version shipped on the Mac. Until you do this, the Mac, OS X and the iLife apps belong to you. She will need to buy the iWork apps for herself, using her own account. You cannot pass any apps that you bought on to her, that would be piracy.

We have a 4 year old iMac 24 inch. The hard drive died and we had a new hard drive installed. They only installed the Snow Leopard OS on it, and there were many software programs that came with the iMac originally.. now missing. Does anyone know whether Apple will resupply these? I do have an Apple installation disc but have upgraded from the original Leopard to Snow Leopard... so the OS is not quite the same. Ideas? Thanks!
No bootable bakup/clone or Time Machine backup? No initial install discs? If no to both of those, call 1-800-MY-APPLE and request replacement discs for that machine. They're available for a nominal S&H charge.
