Is it possible resizing and keep synced photos?

Hello,
It is a few weeks I'm trying to do this job:
I have FOLDER A with a lot of pictures and subfolders (SUBFOLDER A) and I need to copy  all the pictures in FOLDER B resizing them to a smoller size because they are synced online.
Every day I add new pictures to FOLDER A and inside the subfolders, so i would like all the new pictures to be continously copyed and risized.
Recording a folder action with Automator, the problem is that it does the job only inside FOLDER A and not in SUBFOLDER A.
Example:
I put a new picture in FOLDER A --> automator copy and resize it in FOLDER B
I put a new folder in FOLDER A --> automator copy and resize the folder and its content in FOLDER B
I add a new picture in SUBFOLDER A --> automator doesn't do anything
Do you have any ideas?
thanks

I have iPhoto '09 setup to leave photos in their original location (Preferences > Advanced > uncheck "Copy Items to the iPhoto Library"). In testing, it seems that with this setting off, it's not possible to delete a photo from the hard drive from within iPhoto. I right click on a photo and click "Show File" to confirm that it is definitely linked to the original location. Then I put the photo in the trash in iPhoto and empty the trash. Looking at the original location, the file is still there.
You are correct - why you tell iphoto not to copy the photos to the iPhoto library it makes an alias in the iPhoto library - deleting the photo from iPhoto deletes it form iPhoto but does not do anything with the external photo - which is what you told it do to - when you use this references library you are taking full responsibly for managing the originals INCLUDING making sure that they never change locations - including to a different hard drive or to a new computer at least in iPhoto '08 - FOr this and many other reasons it is recommended that you not use a referenced library
This isn't a bad thing but I'd like to confirm it before I rely on iPhoto never touching my photo library.
If you use a referenced library iPhoto will not ever touch your original photos - or notice if you edit them - or find them if you move or delete them

  • How do I backup my iPhoto Library to an external hard drive and keep my photos grouped by their events?

    How can I backup my iPhoto Library to an external hard drive and keep my photos grouped by their events?

    I have attempted to make sure my iPhoto library has been backed up on the external hard drive and that it is safe to delete some events from my internal hard drive
    You need to think this through.
    Time Machine is a back up application. It keeps a rolling back up of the data. It's called rolling because it means you can revert to the data you had on a specific date and time. But that's not eternal, and as time goes by, and your drive fills up, older backups are deleted. So if you delete Events on your Mac they will - eventually - also be deleted from the Time Machine back up.
    If you wan tot archive data hendon't use Time Machine for that job. Here's how you might archive an iPhoto Library:
    Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    Now you have two full versions of the Library.
    3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
    Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
    Some Notes:
    As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
    You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
    You can keep the Library on the external updated with new imports using iPhoto Library Manager

  • HT1229 How do you transfer photos to external backup and keep the photos in events with event name or with description name. Each time I have tried to transfer them they only transfer with a jpg number so you don't know what photos are what.

    How do you transfer photos to external backup and keep the photos in events with event name or with description name. Each time I have tried to transfer them they only transfer with a jpg number so you don't know what photos are what. When you have several thousand photos it is difficult to determined what is what.
    Why does iPhoto have the ability to put photos in events and to give them descriptions if it doesn't transfer this info with the photo. I want to back my photos up to an external drive.

    The simplest way to achieve what you want is to back up the iPhoto Library. That will get everything.
    You sem to be exporting from iPhoto to the Finder. The Finder does not have the same organisation capabilities as iPhoto. If you're going to do that you need to understand some of the differences between the two.
    Event Name will become  Folder Name.
    'Description Name' I guess is the Title you give the Photo
    Jpeg Number is the File Name assigned by your camera.
    So: File -> Export
    Set your Kind to Jpeg
    Select your preferred Quality
    Check the Boxes at 'Titles and Descriptions' and Location Information
    Under FIlename select 'Use Title'
    Click on Export. In the Next Window choose a New Folder as your export destination and then Name that as you prefer

  • Just got my iPad and when syncing photos will only sync recent photos taken on iPhone - will not sync any photos from my albums or events despite selecting all events

    Just got my iPad and when syncing photos will only sync recent photos taken on iPhone - will not sync any photos from my albums or events despite selecting all events or even when i select specific events or albums.

    What is the file name of the video(s) you want to sync?
    Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
    Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
    Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Anyone else having problem with RAID and iTunes syncing photos in Vista?

    Hello,
    For whatever reason iTunes can not load some of the photos from C drive. It can do it from D drive, though VERY slow. Both C and D are NTFS system, but C is a RAID 0 drive (implemented by hardware on motherboard, Intel 82801G controller). I just wander if this is something related to iTunes not working correctly with RAID drivers, or is it something else? I should say that ALL other programs and games working fine on this drive.
    Thanks for the replies.

    The problem is with Windows Vista using the NTFS file system, check out this post for the official solution. This has worked perfectly for me everytime I've tried it:

  • How to resize and edit multiple photos then save all at once?

    Photoshop CS6
    MacBook Pro
    ================
    Hi I have a bunch of product photos that I need to resize to a square (1200x1200). I thought I might be able to import them all into Photoshop, resize them to fit the canvas.... center them all, one by one (not all photos are centered, this is my other issue) and then save them all at once. I have done all the above but cant figure out how to save each layer, as their respective layer name (ie. default photo name) with out flattening the layer and manually saving each one, one by one.
    I thought you could do something similar when you do batch watermarks but I cant figure out how to save as it wasnt a recorded action since all photos had some individual tweaking to center them on the canvas after I did a group (transform) resize.
    I hope this make sence. Thanks in advance.

    AffineTransform image_at=new AffineTransform(Trm[0][0],Trm[1][0],Trm[0][1],(Trm[1][1]),0,0);
    //make an imageOp
    AffineTransformOp flip= new AffineTransformOp(image_at,hints);

  • Playing multiple videos and keeping sync?

    Hi,
    I've got 3 videos (.avi wrapper) from 3 different cameras all synced together. When I run all 3 with seperate Quicktime apps they fall out of sync with each other (after 10 minutes there was a 15 second difference).
    Is there any way to sync all 3 players together or to run all 3 videos in the same player? I'd like them to be frame accurate.
    Are there any otehr ways of syncing the videos together (H.264?)?
    Thanks for any help on this....,
    Precision 670   Windows XP   4Gb Ram, 500Gb HD
    Dell Precision 670   Windows XP   4Gb Ram, 500Gb HD

    There are 3 different cameras but of 3 different views. However, people will be walking from one view to the next so they all need to be in sync to get the times right between cameras.
    There is no audio on any of the footage.
    At the moment, opening up 3 Quicktimes, each running 1 video, the quicktime that has focus tends to "run away" and fall out of sync with the other 2 (after I've selected "play all movies). I assume this is a XP focus/priority issue but is there any way around it?
    Are there programmes available that will start all 3 at the same time and buffer them to keep them in sync? Can I wrap all videos in a H.264 wrapper and run them that way?

  • How do I create and keep duplicate photo?s?

    I wish to create a Duplicate of an individual photo in my iPhoto '11 Library,
    When I select a photo, it is highlighted, and I click on Photo>Duplicate, I do not get a duplicate to appear.
    When I wanted to do this with iPhoto '08, a duplicate would appear next to the original, and I could then alter ONE of the two.
    For instance, I could crop one, and still retain the original in my Photos.
    Am I doing something wrong? Is there another step? Could I not be noticing where, if anywhere, that duplicate may appear?

    Never mind - - - I FOUND THEM! Uh, Duh !

  • Syncing photos: folder and then folder.mov - wth?

    Ok so I want to sync photos from iTunes to my iPhone 4S. This never used to be an issue so I have no idea what changed.  But I have a folder called iPhotos on my Mac that has the photos that I want to sync via iTunes to my iPhone (pictures of my wife, car, etc). When I go into iTunes and click the Photos tab and then "sync photos" then I choose the iPhotos folder, then hit sync...it creates two folders on my iPhone under the photos app. The first is called "iPhotos" and has all 23 pictures. The second is a folder called iPhotos.mov that has the same 23 photos. I tried renaming the folder, etc, and it still does it. Now I have no choice but to choose "all folders" under the photos tab in iTunes, so perhaps it's syncing the "iPod Photo Cache" as well?  How can I work around this?

    I'm having the identical issue.
