Is it possible to add an iweb blog post on a non-originating computer?

I created a blog in iWeb and all is great, but I want to be able to add posts from other computers (yes, Macs with iWeb). How do I access the iWeb file that has my template, etc? I looked in my iDisc, but couldn't find a recognizable file that I could open and add to. Is this even possible? Am I better off doing this via blogspot? Also, if this is indeed possible, can I do it from a computer that is using iWeb '07 (or whatever the version before '08 was)?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi Steve,
To edit one website from two different computers you have to transfer the Domain.sites2 file where iWeb stores its files. To find that file go to
User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2
If you can’t find it here search for it with spotlight. Note that the extension .sites (iWeb 1.0) or .sites2 (iWeb 2.0) may be hidden, also search for Domain only. To see if a Domain file is iWeb ’06 or iWeb ’08 select the file press Command(Apple)+i under "Name & Extension" you will find that it is .sites or .sites2.
To get the site showing up in iWeb just open the Domain.sites file by double clicking on it and your sites and pages will show up on the left side in the iWeb page browser. Note that the location, where you put the file, doesn’t matter.
BEST SOLUTION: If you put the Domain file on a USB-Stick (USB flash drive) all you have to do is plug the usb stick in one of the computers and double click the Domain file on the USB flash drive (without moving it to the computer!). It will open in iWeb and save changes to the USB stick, plug it into the second computer and same thing. You could publish a site from both the computers without missing data and without fearing of overwriting the older with the newer file.
Without the Domain file you can't edit the site in iWeb, sorry.
Regards,
Cédric

  • Automate iWeb Blog Posts from Mail

Would it possible to use Automator to fetch text from an email with a keyword or from a certain sender that would then be put into a blog post in iWeb? I know that there is an "iWeb Action Pack" for Automator that gives it similar functionality when adding pictures or movies.
I ask because I'm looking to be able to post blog entries from a Windows computer at on the go or elsewhere. Does that seem feasible? If not, why not? If so, would you please suggest a reference I could use?
    Thanks in advance!

  • SharePoint 2013 (On-premises) - Add @mentions to blog post

    Hi all,
I'm having a headache. I need to allow users to add @mentions on comments for a blog post (just like on Newsfeed). I don't find if there is a way to do this out-of-box.
Please, can anyone provide me an alternative? I'm trying to use some jQuery plug-ins but I think it would be great if I don't have to build a custom solution to do
that if SharePoint can do it natively.
    Thanks in advance.

  • IWeb blog date problem inconsistency

The date that appears on my iWeb blog entries is different from my computer to another person's computer. On my computer, the blog entry dates in my iWeb software appears the same as what I see when I browse the site on the internet using my Safari browser, but the dates are different when browsing the website from other computers!
How is this possible and can it be fixed?

  • Move iWeb blog to WordPress?

    Hello,
I hope someone can help me. I have a blog at a MobileMe site that will soon disappear. The address is web.me.com/tjkk2 . I now have a WordPress blog and would love to move the entries at this old site into the new WordPress one. Is there a way that this can be done? If someone could point me the way forward to do this, I would be most grateful.
    Thank you very much.

Not sure if you already went through with copying and pasting your blog posts, but I just found this tool that lets you import your iWeb blog posts and comments to wordpress.

  • Most Popular Entries in iWeb Blog. Possible??

I want to put a box in my iweb blog that will contain the most viewed (most popular) entries I have in the blog so they could be easily accessible. Is it possible because Im searching the net but I cannot find anything... What do you think?

There is a workaround that involves quite some work to do by hand.
    1. Get a Google webmaster account
    2. Add the Google Analytics code to your HTML files (post publish editing)
    3. Look at the results on a regular base to see what Blog entry is most popular
    4. Show the most popular Blog entry in an iFrame (you'll have to change them by hand)
This is a summary. Feel free to ask for details.
    Kind regards,
    Leo

  • How do I add archive calendar to my iWeb blog?

I cannot find any widgets or code that allow me to add an archive calendar to my blog (to allow selction of blog post by date). Any suggestions?

This isn't really possible without linking your Outlook calendar to your Google calendar.  Google Calendar Sync with Outlook is no longer supported by Google, but I believe you can still find the necessary (free) download at http://google-calendar-sync.en.softonic.com/

  • Can I download an iWeb site so that I can change the html? I need to add a better blog and also some SEO.

Can I download an iWeb site so that I can change the html? I need to add a better blog and also some SEO.

Where is your site hosted? If it's hosted on MobileMe you can use SEO to edit the site online.  No need to get it locally.
If the site is hosted with a 3rd party fpt client then publish your site to a folder on your hard drive, use SEO on it there and then upload the site to your server with a 3rd party ftp client.
What do you mean "add a better blog"?

Is it possible to add an RSS feed to a blog created using web apps? Can RSS feeds be used for items other than an actual blog?

No, but you have an RSS feed of your blog anyway and you can set an RSS feed for your web app if you want as well.Business Catalyst Help | Create RSS feeds

  • Is it possible to add html code to iweb

I need to add some special elements to a webpage, and I was curious if I could add any special html code besides the ones I have found in the menu (counter, links, etc)
    Thanks

This is iWeb's glaring weakness. I need the ability to add html for blog rolls, haloscan comments on blogs, etc.
Currently, I use RapidWeaver, but the drag and drop design elements in iWeb are far superior. However, the ability to add raw html code is going to hold iWeb back.
Add this, Apple, and you've got a winner.

  • Can you add an RSS feed on an iweb blog that would allow visitors to receive new entries by email?

Can you add an RSS feed on an iweb blog that would allow visitors to receive new blog entries through their email?

RSS feeds don't do that - if they add the feed to an RSS reader (including Safari or FireFox) they will see new updates every time they check: but sending them emails on each added episode would require extra programming in the actual program, which iWeb doesn't provide. You would need to have a mailing list and send out an email manually each time you add an episode.

  • Possible to retrieve an '09 blog published on iWeb/MobileMe?

Argh. I published my family's travel blog a few years back using MobileMe (web.me.com/shwang), and stupidly forgot about it during the MobileMe/iCloud transition.  Is there any way to retrieve the blog's contents, with or without comments?

iWeb saves the assets of your website, webpages, blog posts and photoalbums in the domain.sites file on your computer.
    It's here :
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
where ~ is your Home directory.
Only the comments were saved on the MMe server.
So you need the domain file to continue publishing on a new server. Comments are not supported on 3rd party webservers, so you could not see them anyway.
If you have no domain file and no backup, you'll have to start from scratch.
