Is it possible to alert Apple to update the Maps app to reflect  incorrect route advice?

Can Apple update its route planning software ?
This is the route of the problem as sent to TomTom and Garmin Sat Nav providers.
Hi there, I work in the Heritage Sector at an Irish National Monument called NEWGRANGE. We are experiencing a lot of problems here with Sat Nav system users. Here is the problem. The name Newgrange is iconic among pre historic monuments in Europe. It is almost a brand name at this stage and understandably it is the first name that thousands of end users key into their satnav systems. Heres the rub; Access to the Newgrange National monument is INDIRECT, via a Visitor Centre called Bru na Boinne ( Irish Gaelic ) which is several KMs away on the opposite side of the river and is a 10 km drive away. As a result the word NEWGRANGE being pre-eminent in most tourists minds, 9000 - 10,000 visitors per annum are consequently arriving at the wrong place. This is causing a lot of unnecessary anger and frustration among these well intended visitors and indeed among my own staff. The Solution; Is it possible to re-route people via an 'alert ' facility in the software, or perhaps offer a drop down menu with options for the end user, for example 1 Newgrange National Monument 2. Newgrange Townland 3 Newgrange Farm with the default set a Newgrange National Monument. Please let me know if this is possible and if you could open up a line of contact for discussion on the matter, I would really appreciate it.. Many regards Paul Kelly Information Officer, Bru na Boinne Visitor Centre for Newgrange National Monument Donore Co Meath Ireland Work Phone 00353 (0) 41 9880300

OK, Great

  • How did Apple screw up the maps app this badly?

I am normally not a complainer, but rather appreciate great technology.
However, I am shocked beyond description about how badly Apple screwed up the maps application in IOS 6.
The maps application is the by far the most frequently used and most useful iphone application for me.
I rely on it all the time.  It WAS so incredibly easy to use, and almost always dependable.
Yes, turn-by-turn directions would be nice, but not at the cost of screwing up so many other critical features.
I have now had 2 extremely frustrating experiences.
The other night, I was driving home from work and using the maps application to route to a store.  I was using the voice instruction mode.  There was heavy traffic so I wanted to zoom out / around to look for alternate routes.  Well, this is almost impossible to do, and furthermore, there is much less accurate and detailed information about traffic conditions.  This would have been a piece of cake with the old maps application.
Yesterday, I had to make a trip to Pacific Sales in San Jose.I tried "Pacific" with the mapped zoomed to the general area, and it could not find it.Then I tried "Pacific sales", again no luck.  Its an appliance store, so I tried "appliances", and again no luck.
Finally, I had to log into the web, go to google maps, and find it there.
It was slow, but it worked!
1 month ago, I had the highest confidence in Apple due to their track record of deliverying great stuff that works and is easy to use.
I would never have considered an android phone.
However, this problem with the maps app has so shaken my confidence in Apple, that I will go today to look at a Samsung Galaxy III.
Maybe its not going to be my thing, but I hope Apple realizes how big they screwed up.
The Apple of Steve Jobs would never, ever, ever have let this happen.
The old Apple would have stayed with Google Maps for another year, and made this new maps app better, more reliable, and more user friendly than Android BEFORE releasing it.  It would have been revolutionarily good and would have surprised us with how good it was.
I really truly love Apple and its products.
But this is a really bad mistake and I am so fearful that its an omen of whats to come in future from Apple.
I would not be surprised if this very deeply damages Apple at a time when the competition is getting tougher & tougher.
Of all the functions on the Apple Iphone, the maps are the heart and soul.  Apple is probably right to go its own way eventually, but not like this!
It is just going to drive people into the arms of Android.
I am just curious, did Apple actually test this thing thoroughly before releasing it?
I mean, it took me only a few days to figure out this thing is total crap.
How did Apple not know this (which is a very scary thought), or maybe even more scary, maybe they did know but feel they have enough market power to get away with it?  I can't think of any other explanations. So, which is it?  Either way, its very bad news for Apple fans.

Ok, 3 more wonderful IOS 6 maps experiences to share!
When out shopping for paints, decided to visit Kelly Moore.
Used the maps app and used it to take me to the nearest store, except it was not where maps said it would be!
I called the Kelly Moore store, and they told me the maps app has the wrong town, and they have had many customers with the same problem!
Next up, I was looking for a Sherwin Williams store in San Jose, so maps took me to El Camino Real, except it took me to the wrong end of El Camino Real in Santa Clara, about 15 minutes from the right destination in Mountain View!  In fact, the app took me to Santa Clara University!
Last up, I was looking for a Chevron station.  Apps routed me to the location, but no gas station.
So, I finally decide to use google maps through the browser, and it ends up it was again the right address but wrong city!!!!
Unbelievable!  My confidence in Apple has been further shaken, to where I am about to give up.
I just can't trust their app, which is something I depend on every day to save me time, money and gas.
So disappointed in Apple right now...  It makes antenna gate look like a minor incident, which it was in my opinion!

  • Possible to import GIS data into the Map app?

I would love to be able to import lat/long data into the Map app to display transit stop info on the job, as I do now with a crappy PC portable and Delorme Street Atlas.
    Possible?
    Thanks

You can do this with CartoMobile which is available in the AppStore. CartoMobile allows you to take your GIS in the field with you, and works online or offline.

  • Will apple soon update the Netflix app on the Apple TV

On other products such as the iPad or PS3, when watching a tv show on Netflix, the show will automatically play the next episode once the current episode is over. When will apple update the Apple TV to do this as well

No one here would have any way of knowing as we are all users like yourself.

  • I have an epson T50 shared network, which is connected to a computer that runs on Windows 7 64-bit. The 10 days Apple has updated the printer drive and since then has been trying to print the following message: / Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filt

I have an epson T50 shared network, which is connected to a computer that runs on Windows 7 64-bit. The 10 days Apple has updated the printer drive and since then has been trying to print the following message: / Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS/ rastertoescpII failed.
    What should I do?

The first thing you should do is re-write your post to make it a bit more understandable. I got you have an Epson printer connected to your PC, however after that  your post doesn't make any sense. Are you attempting to print from your iMac, if so then you need to download and install Bonjour for Windows on your Windows machine. Then set Windows so it has printer sharing turned on and then on the iMac simply follow Apple's instructions for adding a printer.

  • How often are the maps in the Maps app updated?

The Maps app couldn't locate a 2 well known stores right off of the highway that have existed for well over a year, possibly 2.  The location is seen in the iOS 5 Maps, but there's nothing but an empty location in the iOS 6 app.  How frequently are locations updated?!

The satellite imagery on Apple Maps shows that whole area as undeveloped woods.   Google shows a brand new building with the nearby streets.
Use the "Report a Problem" button on the Maps to inform Apple of the required update.

  • I bought an iPhone 5s in China and the maps app is different.  When I go to the US will I be able to use Apple's native app or will I be stuck with this one?

So I wanted to ask a question that my googlefoo couldn't help me solve.
I bought an iphone at a reputable electronics market here in China and it is an AT&T model phone.  I bought it at one of the grey market locations because they were sold out elsewhere.  I contacted a friend at AT&T to make sure it is a legit AT&T model.  The phone is great and everything works perfectly including maps.  But maps are done by Autonavi here in China, not Apple.  I downloaded the Mavericks update on my mac and tried some of the new maps features and they wouldn't work with my phone.  That's okay since I live in China now but I'll be going back to the USA soon and I wonder what will happen.  Will it update the app to Apple's native one or stay with Autonavi.  Autonatvi does not have the flyover features and it is not robust in the USA.
Who can help me out here?  Has anyone purchased a 5, 5c, or 5s in China and gone elsewhere?  Did the maps app change?
    Thank you
tl;dr my china iphone has autonavi for maps not apple, when I go to the usa will I get the native app?

I live in China as well and my iPhone5s is the model A1530 I bougth outside China. I have the same problem as Nikatnight with the iPhone while the iPad Air (wifi only) is working like a charm. It must be definitely something related to the carrier since I was abroad few days ago and everything worked well.
If you pay attention at the source of your maps, you'll discover they are provided by AutoNavi instead of TomTom and make them appear in chinese with their own border interpretation. Queries are only acceppted in Chinese (p.e. if I type in english "Los Angeles International Airport"  it replies it cannot locate it)
I suppose everything will be fine when you'll be out of censorship....
Perhaps iOS  Apple Maps are absolutely useless for expatriate in China.
    Use Google Maps instead
BTW, I'm surprised how much Apple might prostrate towards hard power Governments.... No matter what, money are always on top!

  • HT1727 I inherited my iPhone & I don't know how to update the 45 apps already on it

I inherited my iPhone from my husband so most of the apps are under his old Apple ID/business email account but his email account is no longer accessable since he has recently retired and no longer can use his business account.  I don't know how to update the 45 apps that he purchased that are still on my phone.

    Hi barbsapplesupport!
Here is a link that can tell you about updating your apps on your iPhone:
Download and install app updates - App Store - iPhone Basics - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TI133
It is likely that these apps were purchased under his Apple ID, so in order to update them, you will need to enter his Apple ID and password when prompted. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

  • Why does Apple keep breaking the podcast app?

Why does Apple keep breaking the podcast app?

Here are my issues, maybe you can help... And yes "breaking" and "nightmare" are accurate descriptions of this update...
    1. Syncing is now impossible without WiFi or a Cellular connection. I've tried your guide in the other thread, but it didn't help.
When I sync podcasts with iTunes, they DO NOT SHOW UP in the app unless I connect my iPhone 5S to WiFi or Cellular. As soon as I connect it to something, new episodes that I manually synced finally show up and can be played.
    2. Arranging the podcasts in any order is now pointless. Any sort of wireless connection will reset my order to a randomized one. It's not even "podcasts with the newest episodes on top", it's just random.
    3. Apple doesn't seem to allow any other podcast app to use the manual sync in iTunes. Am I wrong about that? I looked at countless paid apps and they all have their own cloud or system to only deliver episodes wirelessly...
    4. And that constant prompt about Cellular data access could drive anyone insane!
I have never been this frustrated with an Apple product in my life...

  • HT4484 i used to have an app store and lost it and i created a new one and i can not update the iphoto app because it was updated with the old account, is there a solution for this problem?

i used to have an app store and lost it and i created a new one and i can not update the iphoto app on my macbook pro because it was updated with the old account, is there a solution for this problem?

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

  • I was using a different itune id and now a new one but when i want to update the old app its always asking for my old app id. Is there a way to change my old app to my new id so that i dont have to use my old id.

I was using a different itune id and now a new one but when i want to update the old app its always asking for my old app id.
Is there a way to change my old app to my new id so that i dont have to use my old id?

There is no other way you can do now. Actually, you don't need to create a new Apple ID account, you can change the Apple ID from old email account to other email accout easily by all the steps below.
1, Open iTunes > iTunes Store > log in old Apple ID > Click on your apple ID on the right hand side on top > choose account > Apple ID > Edit
As long as you only change your Apple ID, then all the old apps are still under your new email account as well as you can keep downloading new apps.

  • HT4352 I have turned home share on my iPhone and my Apple TV and the remote app doesn't work all of the sudden. How can I fix this?

I have turned home share on my iPhone and my Apple TV and the remote app doesn't work all of the sudden. How can I fix this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you updated to the latest version of the Remote App.

  • I can't update the downloaded app while can install the new other app

I can't update the downloaded app while my id and password is correct. When I complete the password, it seems updating app but nothing change and it takes only shot time. But I can do the same for install other new app from iTunes with no problem. So now my phone has lots of unupdated app.
Before this problem occur, my appleID has a problem. It can't sign in although I fill the correct password. It bring me to answer security question but it's wrong. So I choose to unlock my Apple ID by reset password via reserved email. It can complete the process but seems to be I create the new Apple ID although that ID is same as the previous one. After that I can't update app anymore.
Could anyone help me on this? Thanks in advance.

If you're a school, Apple has a trade-in program for educational institutions you could look into to upgrade to newer iPods:
    http://www.apple.com/education/docs/Apple-Trade-InProgram.pdf
Otherwise there's nothing Apple could tell you other than sell the iPods or find a reseller willing to accept them on trade. A first-generation iPod touch will not run any version of iOS later than 3.1.3, and a second generation iPod touch nothing later than 4.2.1. There are still apps that run on those versions, but they're getting fewer and fewer. Getting newer iPods is going to be your only avenue to being able to run more current apps. And if you do, I'd advise expecting only a two-year lifespan out of them, at least as far as keeping up with the latest version of iOS and apps is concerned.
    Regards.
