Is it possible to attach a file to an Pages 09 document?

Question

When I try this (Insert/hyperlink/pagesdocument) the entire document is displayed.... I would rather have the attachment displayed as an active icon where the document opens when the icon is clicked, similar how the email attachements work.   I know how to do this in word using the Insert/object function.  Is this possible in Pages 09.  I am a new apple user and using Lion 10.7.2, Pages 09, on an IMAC.    Any help is greatly appreciated.

As Fruhulda notes, you can create a hyperlink to open the target document (which must be a Pages document). The hyperlink can't be attached to an icon or other object, though, only to a word or phrase (ie. a text string). A hyperlink can also be used to open a web page, to launch your email client and open and address a new email message, or to move to a bookmarked location in the current document.
To create such a link:
Select the text to which the link will be attached.
Open the Inspector and choose the Link Inspector.
Click Enable as a hyperlink.
Use the pop-up menu to choose which type of link you want, then...
...navigate to and 'Open' the file to be linked (and choose the bookmarked location in that file)
...enter the subject and email address to which the message will be addressed
...enter the URL of the webpage to be opened
...choose the (previously created) bookmark from the pop-up menu.
Done.
