Is it possible to backup just SMS and contacts only

Hi everyone,
I have just restored my IPhone 4S using Recovery Mode and things went well.
Then i restored my data from a saved backup and after it my phone goes back to the same problem (connecting to internet via cellular data)
I am thinking to run the process again but wondering if is possible to take a backup of SMS and contacts only so that i get them later...

The data isn't actually stored in iTunes. iTunes is like a card catalog that allows you to access information from the various places that it's stored on the computer. SMS and contact info will be viewable in whatever program you sync contact information. The backup actually keeps the files, but doesn't make them viewable, I'm pretty sure. You can only see the info you've actually synced.

I just restored my iphone 4S. everything is backed up on the icloud. now it says i dont have a backup on icloud and the only other option i have is to set up as new iphone. should i do that? will it wipe out my icloud?

I'm not sure regarding transfer sms. Perhaps there's 3rd party sms app in BB World for that. But you can transfer Contacts, Calendar items, Pictures, Videos, Files and documents to Iphone using 'Device Switch'. BlackBerry Link is to transfer between BlackBerry devices only.

Possible to sync just ONE Gmail contact group?

So I'm wondering if it's possible to synchronize just one Gmail contact group with my Blackberry contacts. Like, I have about 15 Gmail contact groups -- one group for co-workers, one group for publicists who send me press releases, one group for friends, etc. I only want the addresses in my friends group to be sync'd with my Blackberry. Is this possible? Or do I have to let them all sync, and then manually delete the contacts I don't want from my Blackberry?

The contact list "My Contacts" is the list that synchronizes.
You can remove this label in your Gmail contacts from those of whom you do not wish to have synchronized over.

I want to transfer my all important SMS and Contacts to computer on Mac because the box is full for a few days.So i am looking for the effective program to help me back up my stuffs. Having said that, any suggestions for a good iPhone manager/iPhone transfer software,which is better to be free without payment.

Google "PhoneView" or "iPhone Explorer" but you should be syncing your contacts with your Mac's Address Book anyway via iTunes or MobileMe. That's the way it is designed to be used.

I have Windows OS and iTunes for PC, but the problem is not in my PC, but in synchronization. Your synchronization take minute or two, you have thunderbolt lightning cable??? If is it by you really so quick than ok but by me is it with sync really slow and I have still powerhouse notebook.
I dont know how is it possible that your sync is so quick, but my iPhone starts transfering purchased aplications and all content to the PC, instead of downloading it PC itself without iPhone from iStore. So there is what happend when I am conecting my iPhone.
When it find my iPhone on the first try, it starts makeing backup, than transfering photos, aplication, some info from Safari and to the end also the MUSIC...this should be improved by Apple and it should be able to sync just MUSIC section and not whole system, when I changed just something in MUSIC section(like adding new CD..)
So it does on PC whole resync Maybe is it somewhere in options, but where? I really want sync sometimes just MUSIC or just Apps and nothing else(like Photos, Bookmarks...)
I am sorry for that angry tone, but I am really stresedby this 20minutes sync or 10 miutes...just becouse of adding 1-2 songs, this is by competition phones quicklier :/ !

Extract SMS and contacts from Backup File

Dear all,
I had my Nokia N80 mobile phone stolen, and the only thing that I have to restore my data is the nbu backup file ( generated by Nokia Ovi Suite).
Please, Does somebody know how to extract/export my contacts and SMS (text messages) from nbu backup file?

Yes. Everything but your media (songs, vids), contacts and calendar entries is stored in the back up and will be restored.

3120, SMS and Contacts

Have just been given a 3120 by my son. I'll use it primarily for SMS but find that when I go to send an SMS the only contact search is on NUMBERS - or have I missed something? I know WHO I want to send to but have not the slightest idea of their number - and don't want to know! Is there really no way to search on contact NAMES?

Yes, I have a set of basic names/numbers stored in the phone memory and am only using the phone memory.
When I select Options > Send then the Phone Number search window appears with no other obvious options available. I've now just noticed that if I click the Up or Down Scroll keys a Contacts list appears. Should this now allow me to choose a Contact by name?

I don't have an answer for you unfortunately, however I am seeing a similar issue. I posted a thread about this specific to Outlook 14.2.1 syncing to iCal 5.0 via OS X Lion (10.7). Adding information on what platform(s) you are working on may be a help in getting this resolved and in addition you can watch the thread I posted if you are on the same OS X as me as I am having issues syncing from Outlook to iCal on all Mac devices.
