Is it possible to block a program?

I downloaded the earthdesk app from apple (could have been a demo one) which is basically an image of the earth that you can use as your background. After a while I decided I didn't want it any more so I removed it to trash and changed back to my original background. However, after around five minutes it automatically changed back to the earthdesk image. I kept trying to change it to my original background but every time it changed back to earthdesk after a short while. I then tried to empty my trash but it told me I couldn't do so as earthdesk was still in use. This was when I had my original background up so earthdesk definitely wasn't in use. How do I get rid of earthdesk and stop it from coming back?Is there anyway of blocking it perhaps?

Why are your neighbours accessing your broadband? Did you give them the wireless key?

..msc is an extension for a snap-in loaded by mmc.exe.
You could try to add mmc.exe to the following GPO:
USER ->
-> Administrative Templates\
-> System
-> "Don't run specified Windows applications"

Blocking a Program (at "start up")

Hey,
I need help with blocking a program which starts itself every time I turn on the Mac. It is HP Scanjet Helper and I don't have any idea really why it is opened and why I need it.
I really need a solution with this because this program restricts my Mac's sleep function and the iMac never sleeps when this is on. I want to get rid of it as I am sick of quitting every time from the Activity Monitor;
What should I do in order to block it? (I rarely use the scanner, so I can open any program needed manually.)

In your Utilities folder, there's a program called "Terminal". Open it and type enter the following text at the prompt, followed by the "enter" key:

}</pre>The reason you don't see this application listed in your login items is that those items are only for the current user and the HP software is for every user on the system. So it's in a different preference file.
Once you post back with what's in that file, I can give you better advice on how to get rid of the HP software...

LDAP Configuraton: Is it possible to block 2500 users??

Hello experts,
we are running an EP with about 2500 users. The database for all users is the Protal´s DB sofar.
However we would like to use the company´s AD for retreiving user data.
Now, the users in the portal database have more o less the same LogonID as they have in the AD.
In the LDAP Configuraton one can block special users like Administrator or Guest. These users are always retrieved from the Portal´s DB and never from the AD. Makes sense.
However in our case, would it be possible to block all 2500 users who are already in the Portals DB and all new users who get integrated to the portal come from the AD?
I can imagine this is an big issue for the UME. To go through all 2500 LogonIDs every time a user wants to log in.

the point is, we are already running a productive system with more than 2500 users stored in portal´s database.
We didn´t connect so far to LDAP.
We didn´t connect to LDAP during portal installation years ago.
Now, we know that it has been a huge error that we didn´t connect to LDAP at the very beginning.
The used UserIDs in portal´s database are identical with the ones used in LDAP.
Now we would like to switch to LDAP as datasource. However we do not want to delete all users in portal´s database because of inconsistency with the current portal system.
The idea is to block all user data from all 2500 portal users from being retrieved from LDAP.
Only data from new users should be retrieved from LDAP.
I hope now the issue is clear.
Can a productive system work well with the configuration of 2500 users being blocked in the UME?

What you will need to do is to set up a digital start and stop triggered Analog Input acquisition. Then you will need to have a counter set as event counter, having the specific number of pulses you need configured as the preset value, configured to count down, and generating a pulse after the terminal count has been reached. That counter output will be the stop trigger of the Analog Input operation. In summary, you will have the external pulse being both the digital trigger of the Analog Input operation and the source pin of the counter, and the counter output being the digital stop signal for the analog input.
I'm attaching a Labview VI that does the start and stop analog input acquisition. You will need to include the counter part and set the stop s
ignal to be the counter output.

You don't need to recreate a DN to remove a simple feature from a phone.... Not sure who gave you that information but it is dead wrong. You can do one of two things:
Make a new softkey template without the CFWDALL softkey
Do what Aaron said and just restrict CFWDALL with a CSS
If the provider is in charge of this side of the configuration you may want to talk to another person there as they are giving you faulty information.

I just implemented this with one of my applications.
I wrote a class which extends JWindow and adds a JLabel icon to the contentPane.
The class containing the main method instantiates this class, makes the window visible, wait's some time and deletes the window:
