Is it possible to use books in itunes instead of ibooks?

The easiest way to handle this would be for each of you to set up a user account on the computer in question, and then copy the relevant songs into iTunes in the respective accounts.
Of course, if you & your wife are just interested in being able to listen to each others' music, and your two computers are networked, you can just use iTunes' sharing feature. iTunes -> Preferences -> Sharing; then check both the "Look for shared music" and "Share my music" boxes, and you're good to go!

If you want to transfer to a new computer here is the way-
1. Without connecting your iPad to your new computer -
A) Install iTunes / make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed.
B) Go to the Store tab and click on "Authorise This Computer".
C) Go to Edit, click on Preferences and click on Devices. Put a check mark in the box next to "Prevent iPods/iPhones/iPads from syncing automatically". Click OK and close iTunes.
2. Connect your iPad to your computer -
A) Start iTunes (if it does not do so automatically).
B) Right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select "Transfer purchases".
C) When the transfer has completed, right click on your iPad again and select "Backup".
D) When the backup has completed, left click on your iPad, click on the Apps tab, and put a check mark in the box next to "Sync Apps", and then click on "Apply" (bottom right).
E) Unless you want to always do a manual sync (as I do), go back to Edit, Preferences and uncheck the box next to "Prevent your iPod.....".
F) Finally, on your iPad, check that everything is syncing properly. If not, go back to iTunes and check all settings.
NB You should not lose any apps. However, any 'purchased' missing apps can be downloaded again FOC. As with updates, this must be done with the Apple ID under which they were originally 'purchased'.

Damage or non useable spares of equipment bring back into stores

Dear All,
I have created one b/d maintenance order for pump equipment. In this one bearing is damaged which is not useable. For this we will issue new bearing for order, so this spares cost will be booked on order.
But how I can bring damage bearing in stores which will be further going to be as scarp.
Can is it possible to bring back damage spares in stores with reference of b/d maintenance order which is already created. For this what will be cost effect on order.
Kindly give me the step by step procedure for this scenario.

you have define valutaion types for the material in Materails managemnt first
with same material code how you will identify the l,material whci is scrap or newly procured
Once valutaion exist for the material
Return the material to warehouse against same order number by movement type 262 then it will be automatically received in stock as valution type damaged
at mb11 by 262 system will ask you the material code

We can't do anything for you here.
You have to write to the developer of the app and ask.
They are the one making the app not Apple.

Is there a way to bring back the actual tab "bar"?

So in switching from FF3.6 to 5.0 I have noticed that the actual "bar" that holds the tabs is gone.

It's visually slightly annoying to not have a distinct separator between the tab area and the button toolbar, but that is something I can live with.
However I can NOT live with the extremely annoying functionality drawback that comes as a result of this. In 3.X and before you could right click anywhere in the tab bar and it would bring up the tab management menu. Now you can't bring up the menu from empty space because it treats that space as part of the rest of the UI and gives you a different menu, forcing you to mouse all the way over to a tab to accomplish the same end.
So my question is, does anyone know of a way, or an addon, that can bring back the actual tab bar? I find all of these UI changes to be nothing short of infuriating. I swear, Mozilla, Facebook, Pandora, Google, and Microsoft must all be in cahoots with each other because they're all introducing horrible UI designs at the same time.

Well I guess that's kind of cool that you can add buttons in the bar as well, but I honestly don't have a use for that and I think it would get in the way more often than not in most scenarios I can think of (there's a reason buttons were segregated from the tab bar and it wasn't tech limitations). The previous functionality is much more convienent and useful and, well, functional.
As for why FF5, well I've had the FF5 installation since before 6.0 was out, but the UI changes angered me so much that I abandoned it after about 20 minutes and went back to using my 3.6 installation; I've been letting the community stew and cook up solutions to the UI problems (status4evar for example) and like any good stew, giving it more time is better. Also a whole bunch of my addons (some of which are mission-critical to my browsing needs) were not [and a small few are still not] compatible with anything above 3.x, 4.x, or 5.x so I had to wait for those (mmm, stew). And then to top it off I figure the possibility that I'll run into upgrade problems is smaller if I go through the chain of updates rather than jumping from 3.6 straight to 7. And don't get me started on the whole rapid release schedule. :P

Using US ipad in the UK and buying iphone 4 in the US to bring back to UK

I am thinking of buying a ipad 2 in the US when I visit there to bring back to the UK. I will then be heading home to Australia next year. Can someone help me to confirm:
1) is there any issues (eg power differences, adaptors, getting wifi set up) buying an ipad in the US and then using it in the UK? Do I just need to get a UK Sim (can you get a prepaid sim for ipads rather than locking into a contract?) If you are getting the wifi ony version then you don't need a sim card - you only need a micro-sim card for the 3G/wifi versions. If you do get a 3G version in the US then get the AT&T version as they are GSM/sim based; the Verizon model is CDMA based and doesn't use sim cards.
Wifi is the same.
I don't know whether the iPhones are locked or not.

You can move your iTunes library.. Apple have explicit instructions to do it. If the library is moved to the TC and accessed over wireless, the efficiency of the whole system will drop dramatically..
A file you download goes.. Modem---TC--Laptop--Back to TC--Store on disk. Double looping the wireless slows it dramatically..
As far as using TC for your iTunes.. you CAN.. but SHOULD YOU?

This is asked several times a day.. obviously people are struggling with their latest SSD being too small.
The TC is not suitable for network file server.. but many people having no choice press it into service as such.
It cannot be partitioned. It was and is and ever shall be a backup device for Time Machine.
Major issues.
1. No backup.. no way Time Machine can backup a network drive. No place to backup to.. So all your files will be at risk. And you will need to buy a third party like CCC to do backup.
2. The TC cannot be partitioned and mixing TM backups and data is not great.
3. The drive is slow to spin up and quick to spin down.. there is no controls.
4. iPhoto in particular can easily corrupt its entire library with wireless networking causing a disconnection to one photo. Even if you do this;;; do not move your photo library... you have been warned!!
5. iTunes will constantly lose connection to the library. The disk is too slow to respond.. itunes on the computer will constantly spit out errors. Even in the midst of streaming the TC can spin down the disk due to caching.
6. Do not use any live files on the TC no matter what else you do.. if you edit files in whatever program the file must be on the local hard disk.
7. The only suitable location for most libraries is a computer. You can plug in an external hard disk.

Bring back traditional scroll bars and arrows

Why would Apple change a fundemental part of the UI? Removing scroll bars and arrows from the UI is unacceptable in my view. I understand you can restore scroll bar functionality from system preferences but having the arrows on certain apps is very helpful. What possible reason or improvement could warrant this action?

I'm a Wacom tablet user for many yeras, an not planning to get a Magic Mouse ($60.89) or Magic Trackpad ($96.03).
Why? Till 10.6.8 it work fine. It looks to me that Apple wants te sell more of there Mouse and Trackpads.
Just bring back traditional scroll bars and arrows as a option.
Apple starting to look like Microsoft. "We know what's best for you".
Just give the OSX users a option. I'll wait for a OSX update or for some one how writes a nice small utility to bring theme back. He/She will be a hero.

My suggestion for this 'community' - bring back the community feel.
I've not been on the forums for some years now, so I'm probably just out of touch with what the skype forums are about these days. Anyway, I get the impression that although the forums were renamed to be 'community', the content seems to discourage a community feel.

under the old skype forums, I remember many people used to post introductions to themselves and some such users included people who later went on to become skype moderators \ influential members of the skype community.
it's possible that the OP should have been advised to post more content \ a little more about themself, but to say that the community does not support friendship requests seems a bit of a contradiction.
I personally don't post 'friend requests' here or on any other forums, but when socialising it's natural to see people introducing themselves especially when they are integrating into a new community....
The old skype versions had a 'meet me' feature. this was suspended as it created more problems than anyone expected... too many idiots being idiots because it was a one-to-one exchange. however I believe that the old forums had a 'coffee corner' where people did introduce themselves and it was encouraged. perhaps this 'community' needs such a section to truly be a community. it doesn't seem sensible to be stating that skype does not support friendship requests....

You can only have one book open on-screen at a time, and you will need to go back to the bookshelf to select and re-open the second book. If you have the second book from a different store so that it's in a different app (e.g. an Amazon purchase in the Kindle app) then you could switch between then two apps/books via the iPad's taskbar - but you won't be able to have both apps open on screen at the same time.

I'd recommend putting the iPod into 'manual mode.' This will need to be done from the computer that it's normally synced to in order to prevent removing existing content, but it can then be connected to your computer, and you can add the audio book without removing the current library on the device.

Yes. Erase your drive and reinstall Snow Leopard 10.6.8. You may then check your Purchases page in the App Store for your prior OS X version you want, download and install it.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
         with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
         After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
         a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
     2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
         button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
         size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
         partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
         and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
         (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
     3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
         with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
     4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
         Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
         username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
         Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
         install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
         Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then do the following:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Is it possible to retrieve photo book after I accidentally changed theme?

I created a photo book with all the pictures and description. I ordered it. Then I wanted to order another one but in a different size. So I supposed that it was all going be saved and clicked on the change theme button where I can choose from the different sizes. Unfortunately I lost all the type editing. Now I don't remember which types and colours I used on the individual pages.Anyone knows if its possible to retrieve the book from my apple account? If you need to book in a different size you need to reformat it. The book, that was sent to apple was a PDF, and that cannot be used by Apple to create the smaller sized book.
So I supposed that it was all going be saved and clicked on the change theme button where I can choose from the different sizes. Unfortunately I lost all the type editing.
If your Time Machine backup goes back far enough in time, you could try to restore the iPhoto library from before you changed the book theme and then try to find out what the colours and fonts have been.
