Is it possible to cancel a remote erase command set in the Find my iPhone app?

I have recently been reunited with my 17" MacBook Pro by the police after it was lost.
To cut a long story short I initiated the "erase mac" element as I thought I wouldnt be seeing my MacBook again.
Sooooo........... now having the computer in my possession again, I d like to know if there is anyway that I can either:
     1. Stop the erase command from initiating?
or
     2. Recover the relatively small amount of information that has not been backed up (due to travelling) possibly by
turning my network connection off and taking off before connecting to the internet again?
I ve contacted Apple Support and they have advised that (1) is not possible as far as they (the operator spoken with)
are concerned, but (2) was a very good question that they have had no training on or information available about.
As such, thought I would ask the Guru's here to see what are the possibilities, or have I just got to bite the bullet and
accept the losses?
I wondered if the erase command can be sent via an unauthorised network connection such as when wifi looks up what
networks are available??
I ve not turned the MBP on since getting it back and am assuming, as there is no notification from the Find my iPhone app
that it has been located that way, that it has not had network access if it has been turned on at any time since I activated
the locate and erase facility.
Many thanks for you kind attention and hopefully positive response.   :-)
Kind regards
Bob

There is one way you can try... it should work in theory. It's called Target Disk Mode. What this does is that you have to connect your computer to another Mac and your computer will show up on the other Mac as an external hard drive. You can then transfer everything to the other Mac.
Here is where its going to get complicated. You would need another Mac. Since you said your MacBook Pro is a 17" then you still have the old FireWire ports. You need to find out what kind of FireWire port it is (400 or 800). Get a FireWire cable (it's going to be hard nowadays but try Amazon, eBay, Newegg). You might need a FireWire to Thunderbolt converter is the other Mac only has Thunderbolt ports.
Once you plugged the computers in with the right cable. Turn the other computer on first then turn yours on with the "T" key down. That will enable Target Disk Mode. (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10725)

  • How can I turn my ipod on remotely so that I can use the Find my Iphone app (sound mode) to find it

I have a ipod 5 gen and I lost it somewhere around the house. I've used the Find My Iphone app, but it indicates that its offline. So I'm guessing it ran out of battey or its turned off. That's why I am asking if theres anyway that I could turn my ipod back on in order for the sound to be played from FMI app. Thanks alot for any future help.

You can't, When off it is dead
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • I accidentally erased my phone while using the Find my Iphone app

I accidentally erased my phone while using the Find my Iphone app. Now im trying to unlock it as my phone is also sim locked but this is the message that comes up :
"Your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting Your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes."
This keeps repeating and there doesnàt seem to be anz alternative as iTunes isnàt letting me connect either.

  • Is it possible to restore a deleted Iphone to the ´find my iphone´ app??

Is it possible to restore a stolen (not with me) iphone, 3GS to bring it back to the ´find my iphone´app?  doing it from my laptop? thanks for help

No, Find My iPhone only locate, send a message and wipe it clean.
If you cannot locate it then it's gone.
Report to the police, carrier and change all your password that were used on iPhone.

  • HT1349 is it possible to track an Iphone4 , without the find my iphone apps

Is this possible to track iphone 4 without find my iphone application

Yes, the "Find my iPhone" app does nothing to help a phone to be locatable - it is for locating another phone from yours.
As long as you setup and activated the Find my iPhone service, the phone has power and a network connection and Location Services is turned on and the phone has not been restored, you should be able to track it.
If not, then you cannot track your phone.

  • Can the iphone be remotely activated if it is lost or stolen so it can be found using the find my iphone app

If you didn't enable the Find My iPhone function, then you can't track the iPhone.  But it sounds like you did have it turned on, if you're seeing that it's listed in the Find My iPhone app or on icloud.com.  But are you sure it's the same device?  If you had a previous iPhone, and the name of both iPhones was the same, it would make it difficult to know which phone was which, even if they both were listed.
In any event, an offline device is not trackable.  It could be offline because A) it has no power or B) it is not connected to the internet via cellular data or wi-fi.
Until it comes back online (and it may never), then it cannot be remotely tracked.

  • My ipad mini was stolen and i have activated the find my phone to lock it. how can i get the serial number off my itunes or icloud profile? and what are the chances that the find my iphone app works when someome erases the device?

my ipad mini has been stolen and i have activated the find my iphone to lock. now it is only a wifi device so what are the chances that a person can get hold of it and log onto wifi without the password of my device to unlock. does that not make the app rather less useful as i have to hope that the person is apt enough to log onto the internet but not enough to erase it and start afresh. is it possible to find my device even afte someone has erased it?

"Losing your iPhone feels lousy. Thankfully, iCloud can help you get it back. But if it looks like that’s not going to happen, new Find My iPhone features in iOS 7 make it harder for anyone who’s not you to use or sell your device. Now turning off Find My iPhone or erasing your device requires your Apple ID and password. Find My iPhone can also continue to display a custom message, even after your device is erased. And your Apple ID and password are required before anyone can reactivate it."

  • TS4006 I located my remote locked my sons ipod via find my iphone app with the passcode "1234" and now it says passcode invalid? I have no computer to sync it to either?

ugh- My son left his ipod in a friends car. I remote locked it with another ipod. I entered "1234" as the passcode (stupid me?) and when we got it back it says invalid and keeps locking us out. I was never sent an email that the password would be changed if I did this. My problem is that I never synced it and the usb ports do not work anyhow on the laptop. He has only had it since March-this is beyond frustrating. I dont know what to do. Help?? Thank you

  • TS4006 is it possible to get the find my iphone app on my ipod touch?

My iphone just got stolen and i cant access the find my iphone app because i only have the ipod touch, what do i do?

I do not believe there's an app for that on PC. I do recommend getting the iCloud dashboard for PC and to try it there. I would myself if my PC was working.
    PC ***** get a Mac.
You can always go to iCloud.com to find your phone.

  • Stolen Macbook Pro,Find My iPhone App, Erased it, What else?

Hi, my Macbook Pro was stolen. When I found it, I called the police, and a policeman asked some questions. I think I won't get my mac back but I still take some actions.
I use Find my iPhones app on my mac and received an email of notification from this application. It showed the detailed address. Then I called the police station. They checked the address and told me that the address is an apartment building, so they can't do anything for it.
I didn't have the orginal box of my computer so I tried to find the serial number under my Apple id account. But under My Products, my Mac was no longer there, I thought the mac should have been registered by the theif. What else I can do with the serail number? The policeman told me if I can give him the serial number, he can enter it in the system to track it, is it true? Will it work?
I called the Apple, they said the other way that I can get my serial number was to visit the store where I purchased the mac. Is it possible? I purchased the Mac a few years ago.
Because I use the Find my iPhone app, the thief has noticed it and the thief might change the setting so I found I can no longer track the location but I can see it is online. Finally, I decided to use this app to erase my mac (but it's no longer belong to me) Is it safe to erase my mac by using Find My iPhone?
After all these steps, what else I can do?
Will the theif also use Apple Support Communities?
    Additional question:
I know it might cost more than the actual value of the mac to find back the Mac or other similar stolen items. Most of people just accept it and it can be difficult for police to find it, either. However, if we all accept it and didn't take steps to deal with it, will it become worse? Because the thieves won't be punished and we paid more to purchase new products. Maybe it only happened to persons that you don't know, it doesn't happen to you. You won't take it seriously. Then what if it happens to you, will you just do nothing to contribute to a high crime rate and disrupt social stability?

    mnkun3 wrote:
So just accept it? Are there any successful examples that people get back their stolen mac/iphone/ipad ?
Plenty.  I read about them all the time in my local newspaper.
Like Kappy told you previously, move on and/or buy another.
    The good news:
If you have homeowners or rental coverage check w/them.  Most policies cover stolen property.  If your MBP was stolen from your car, make a claim w/your auto carrier.
If you purchased your computer w/a credit card, check w/them also.  You just may be covered for stolen items.

You have to pay for online storage, someone has to pay to keep the lights on. As far a getting it on the Finder sidebar, you did something wrong. That is where mine resides, see below.
