Is it possible to change the standard save location (flexible / automatically) in Adobe Acrobat XI?

It was possible in Adobe Acrobat IX to save always there where the original file (e.g. xxx.doc) was. The window that appears after clicking "save as ..." had always the location of the original file. How can I make this option in A.A. XI? I don't find any options for that.

Unfortunately, you can't. It usually works OK, but if it doesn't there's nothing you can do about it.

    I am doing some work for a school which is still using iMovie HD because it allows them to save their movie projects wherever they want. The issue is that iMovie 08 and 09 do not allow you to change the location in which they save their movies. Currently all users/students have network home folders, so their home directory, documents, etc all pull across the network. All students are limited to 1GB of space, and the system is an older G4 Server- 2GHz with 1GB of RAM and 2x 500GB hard drives. Since the students can make some large projects transferring that data back and forth can kill the server. Currently they are staying with iMovie HD so they can save it to the local hard drive, and when the student comes back in for class they sit at the same machine- thus giving them access to their stored movie files.
    This summer they plan to upgrade both Xserves, but again internal storage in the Xserve is a joke and in my opinion not planned out properly. Which might require them to use one of the Apple Promise RAID units- major financial burden on a school.
    I wanted to see if there was a way to change the default save location for iMovie 08 or 09 to the local storage rather then the "Home" folder for each user.

    iM08/09 has a different file concept than iMHD6.
    Both versions allow to store Events (=huge files) 'anywhere' to usb or firewire connected, hfs(+) formatted harddrives. the Project files (=small files) can be de-located from 'internal' drive with vers09, for 08 you have to use a socalled symLink to de-locate Project files.

  • SBS 2011 GPO for changing the default save location for Word/Excel 2013 not working

    So this is a strange one. I've got an SBS 2011 server that's the only domain controller in the org. I've created a GPO to change the default save location for Excel 2013 and Word 2013 using the Office 2013 ADMX files which were installed to the PolicyDefinitions
    folder.
    The GPO (U-Office2013 Default Save Location) only contains:
    1. User Configuration - Microsoft Excel 2013/Excel Options/Save - Default file location - Enabled - Z:\
    2. User Configuration - Microsoft Word 2013/Word Options/Advanced/File Locations - Default file location - Enabled - Z:\
    The GPO is linked at the OU that contains my users for my SBS organization.
    When I do a gpupdate /force on a windows 7 system with office2013 installed, and then run a gpresult/rsop, the policy appears to be applied successfully as it lists my GPO under the Applied GPOs list on the workstation:

    Default Domain Policy dyndns.local AD (24), Sysvol (24)
    U-Office2013 Default Save Location domain.local/SBSusers AD (6), Sysvol (6)
    In the gpresult report, the applied settings appear under:

    The strange thing is that in my test environment running 2008R2 server and Win7 with Office 2013 and identical settings the default save location is applied and works as expected.
    Any ideas?
    I've already tried re-installing the ADMX templates and re-created the GPO's several times.
    I should also note that other GPO's on the SBS2011 server such as the folder redirection GPO work as expected on the same windows 7 system. It just appears to be an issue with the default save location in office2013 and other Office 2013 related GPOs which
    utilize the recently added ADMX template that don't seem to be working for me.

    Thanks for your reply. I have tried several different user accounts (all have local admin privileges to the workstation) with the same issue. The default save path does not get applied from the GPO to any of the users i've tried. Here's the steps I took
    per your suggestion:
    1. log on as a user who has never logged onto the workstation before.
    2. run gpupdate /force (entered y for yes when prompted to log off).
    3. Log back in as the user and open Office and check the default save path. It has not been changed to match the GPO setting.
    4. Check rsop to see if the policy was applied. Rsop states the gpo was applied successfully.
    I have attached the gpsvc.log file from a the session described above. The GPO Guid in question is: {DC3C93EC-7C28-48E9-BA38-FCA1E275A207}. Its common name is: U-Word 2013 Default Save Location. It's only setting is:

    Is it possible to change the default location when saving Power view back into SharePoint?
    Our users are creating their own power view reports by clicking a power view shared data source in SharePoint document library.
    When saving their reports, the default location is always the same location where the data source is. This is described here also:

It's fine to keep projects there in order to back them up or as a transfer pivot location to allow others to edit, but you never want to open Captivate, click File > Open and browse to a network location to open a project for editing.
    Best practice at this point is to keep projects on your local C drive when you make edits.

    One of the hard learned issues that folks are unaware of until they encounter problems is that Captivate does not do well when a project is stored on a network. It's fine to keep projects there in order to back them up or as a transfer pivot location to allow others to edit, but you never want to open Captivate, click File > Open and browse to a network location to open a project for editing.
    Best practice at this point is to keep projects on your local C drive when you make edits.

    I would like to set the default "save" and "save as" file type to "PDF /A" instead of the default "PDF" due to compatibility issue with some of our systems. Can this be done?
    So when a user click on the save button at the top it auto save as "PDF /A" and when the user select save as the default selection will be "PDF /A" ?

  • Office 2013 - Is there a way to when installing that you can change the default save location without having to configure it within the client?

    So, What I am trying to do is deploy Office 2013 throughout our company, and I do not want the users to save their business or personal files created within Office 2013 on the C: drive or Sky Drive. We have what is called the U: drive and I'd like to know
    if there's a quick registry tweak that I can use to not only change the default location upon setting up a computer, but to deploy through Group Policy? 
    One other question perhaps; Is there a way to change not only the file location to default to only the one place, but also is there a way to also set a specific size limit to folders and prevent certain files from being saved (videos and personal pictures). 
    I have our network pretty tight as to what or who can go where, and what not, I am just really for an answer or some help to the default location...anything you have GREATLY APPRECIATED!

    When initially setting up my Skype phone number I selected the wrong location (Astoria, Or instead of Portland, Or). I have tried the following steps:
    1. Sign in
    2. Click on 'Caller ID'
    3. Click 'Edit'
    4. It does not give me the option to change the location (Astoria).
    Is it possible to have this changed or do I need to create an entirely new number for this to happen?

    Hi, LennyDee, and welcome to the Community,
    Without studying a map to determine the proximity of Astoria to Portland, I offer this, as the situation can become complicated in a hurry: if the exchange you selected can be used for either Astoria or Portland, than changing your Skype Number may not make any difference.  However, if you can choose an exchange dedicated to Portland only, than it most certainly does.  There are articles on Wikipedia which list all of the area codes + exchanges and their location assignments; hopefully the lists you research have been maintained and are current.
    You would need to cancel the Astoria exchange Skype Number subscription, and start a new Skype Number subscription with a Portland exchange.  If you explain the circumstances to Skype Customer Service, maybe they could arrange to refund the cost of the first subscription you did not intend to purchase. 
    You will need to contact Skype Customer Service directly for assistance with canceling (and maybe obtaining a refund for) the first Skype Number subscription.  You would start a new Skype Number subscription with a Portland exchange on your own.

    If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.

    Last and not least, when you reach the last step of the process, remember to click on the "Start Chat" link when you are provided the choice of visiting the Community or starting an instant message chat with a customer service agent.

    Does anyone know how to change the order for printing pdf files that are part of a portfolio in adobe acrobat 9 pro?  The documentation seems to say that it prints files alphabetically by filename rather than by the internal sort order.  This won't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks.

    I think you can remove suggestions from the address bar by arrowing down to the unwanted site on the auto-suggest drop-down list and pressing Delete.
    Make sure to arrow to another site or edit the address before pressing Enter or using Go, because that deleted URL will still be the address bar.

    I am creating an application in flex that downloads a file from the server and saves it to a default location on the server.
    such as USER_HOME/CONFIG/FILES folder.
    I've figured that the FlexReference triggers the OS, which open the downloads folder by default in the save dialog. [i am not concrete of this ]
    but i want to make this default save dialog to open this folder: USER_HOME/CONFIG/FILES
    Is it possible using FileReference Class?
    i have been trying to find a way to do this from the past one week.

  • How do I change the default save location for Preview under Lion?

    I have to modify about 200 PDFs.
    When I make a duplicate of a PDF in Preview it always suggests saving it on the desktop. Instead I would like it to ask me if I want to save it either where the original file is, or where I saved something last.

Keep it on on your iOS devices. iCloud will sync documents between the iOS devices and make them available on the iCloud web site, but it won't mess up iWorks' open and save dialog boxes. It also won't assume that you want all your documents in iCloud, which I think is undesirable anyway.
    Keep iOS and OS X separate, and use the web site to move files between the two as necessary.
    iOS iWork is different from OS X iWork. There are fewer fonts on an iOS device. iOS iWork programs have slightly different feature sets than OS X iWork programs, and the file formats are different. iCloud automatically converts the file format when necessary, but if you make a habit of saving things directly to iCloud, you are limited to the lowest common denominator between the two versions of iWorks. So why would anyone want iWork on the Mac to open and save documents on iCloud by default?
    If you want to store files in the cloud and sync them on your Macs, SugarSync is a much better solution. It lets you choose your sync folders, it doesn't make you reorganize your files, it lets you sync all file types, it doesn't convert files to a different format and back, and it stores everything in the cloud, too. Just the simle act of saving a file backs it up and syncs it. I wouldn't live without it. iCloud is best with iTunes purchases and synchronizing Mac settings and iOS files; I woudln't live without it. The two make an unbeatable combination.
