Is it possible to charge an ipod with the ipad charger

I want to know if it's possible to charge a Ipod shuffle with the 10w  ipad charger?

Yes you can - this page from the Apple store says it can be used with all iPods, including the Shuffle: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC359B/A?fnode=MTc0MjU4NjA&mco=MTc0NzA4NzA#ove rview

  • I have charged my iphone with an ipad charger for about 4 months

I have charged my iphone with and ipad charger for about 4 months. On the bright side I always unplug my phone when it gets to a 100%
How much can my iphone's battery life be affected? The battery still works but less than when I just bought it, I don't know if it is because of the time I have been using the phone or because of the ipad's charger.

You will do no harm using the iPad charger
Apple give the iPad 12W charger compaitbility with ALL the iOS devices back to early iPods in fact the 4th generation a long way back
    You have nothing to fear

  • I Charged my phone with an iPad charger in Indonesia.  The face of the phone is blank white.  I cannot turn the phone on or off.  What should I do?

I charged my iPhone with an iPad charger in Bali, indonesia with an adapter.  The phone's screen is now blank white.  I cannot turn the phone off or get anything to happen.  What can I do?

Try resetting it: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Why won't the iPod Classic 160GB charge with the iPad charger?

I found out the hard way that the iPad's 10w charger which works on my iPad-1 and on my iPhone 4s and on my iPod Touch *does not* work/provide a charge to my 2nd gen iPod Classic.
I had gone to Europe with a full charge on all of my devices, and on the long flight I used both the iPad and the iPod. Once in Spain, I left the iPod in the hotel safe; the phone and iPad were used throughout my vacation, receiving a charge every day via the 10w charger and European duckhead. The night before I left, I plugged in the iPod, knowing that I would need it for the return flight. Imagine my surprise the next day at the airport when I discovered that the iPod was practically dead. Before boarding, I verified that the charger itself (with the European connector) was still working on both the iPad and iPhone, and it was; but as soon as I connected it to the iPod...nothing.
When I eventually got home to the States, I sat down with both the 10w charger and two or three of the many other USB chargers I have accumulated over the years. With the exception of my ancient firewire connector, every single one will charge every single device-----except for the 10w charging the iPod Classic. The iPad will even get a charge from the non-10w charger; it just takes a very long time to get back to 100%. If I could find my 3rd gen Nano, I would try that, but I'm not sure where it is.
What gives here? Why won't the 10w charger work on the iPod Classic??

I finally got curious enough to get a young person's eyes to read the stuff on the bottom of my iPad Mini charger: 5v 1a which equates to 5W using Ohm's law P=IE (E=IR).
So that beng the max charging rate of a normal USB 2.0 port explains (derived from above posts by Bilbo_cheshire and CMJRoss) why that iPad charger does work when some of the larger iPad chargers do not work with the iPod. The current is limited so it does not cause the iPod to sqeal .

  • My iphone 5 suddenly stopped charging.  It's not working on any of my charging devices or with the apple charger

Just yesterday my IPhone 5 stopped charging.  It won't charge on any of my docks, nor from the computer or from the charger that comes with the phone.  Anyone have this problem and know what to do to fix it.  I don't want to upgrade to the IPhone 6, I like my Iphone 5.

    Hey Fran0417,
I understand your iPhone is not charging no matter what you connect it to.  You have tried different charging sources.  To further isolate, have you tried more than one cable?
Going further, please check out this article
If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    If the battery doesn’t charge
If the battery doesn’t charge, unplug your device and try these steps:
Look at the connector at the bottom of your device and make sure it’s free of debris.
If you're using a USB power adapter, make sure it's plugged in all the way and the power outlet is working. If you're connecting to a computer, make sure it's on and can charge your device. To charge an iPad, you might need to use a USB power adapter and plug into a power outlet.
Try a different USB cable, USB power adapter, or USB port.
If everything seems to be working, reconnect your device and wait for 30 minutes.
If your device still doesn’t charge, try to restart it while it's connected to power. If you can't restart, reset your device.
If that doesn't help, continue with the article to the end.

  • Charging New iPod with Old FireWire Charger

Hi, this should be a quick one to solve... I have an old FireWire AC Charger from a 2nd (or 3rd?) Gen iPod I no longer use, and the original FW cable. The dock connector on the old FW cable fits my newer iPods (5.5G iPod Video and a Touch), can the FW AC charger be used to charger these newer USB-only iPods, or will it fry them?
If so, will it also work with a Nano? I want to get one for a friend who doesn't own a computer, so a wall charger will be their only way to charge (in which case I'll just by a new wall charger if the old FW one is incompatible).
    Thanks!
(Note: I don't need it to transfer data, just to charge)

Yes, you can charge new iPod off older Firewire chargers. Just no data transfer.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • My iPad air won't charge.  I have used both the charge cord that came with it, and a second that I bought at the Apple store.  I have used both the charger that came with the iPad, and others that are working with other iPads.  It charged yesterday.

My iPad Air will not charge.  I have used its original charge cord, and a second Apple lightning cord.  I have used the original charger and others that I have confirmed do work.  It charged yesterday, no problem.

Before going to the Apple store carefully examine the lightning port to make sure no fuzz or other foreign stuff has gotten in there. There are not that many things that can prevent an iPad from charging. You've tried a different cable, different charger and hopefully the reset suggested by Barry in the previous post. Check for debris and if the port is clear Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My iPad 4 wifi 3G keeps charging slowly takes half a hour to get to 15% when plug into the wall with the plug and the lead what come with the iPad just wondering as I think some thing is wrong with the iPad

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Do NOT use an iPod/iPhone charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know.  If the above test does, in fact, indicate a problem, read this.
    Also, according to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • My IPad charger isn't working, My IPad charger isn't working

My iPad Mini charger isn't working and I don't know what to do....

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the cable into the iPad & computer. If it says "Not Charging", the cable is probably good. (It is charging but very slowly.)
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • Are apple charging devices interchangeable between the ipad and iphone?

Is the charging hardware on an Ipad 4th generation compatible to charge iphone 5c?  In other words can I charge my iphone with my ipad charging hardware?

You are welcome...I use my iPad charger all the time with both the iPad and iPhone.  Especially when traveling to avoid carrying multiple chargers.  Plus, the plug "duckbill" on the iPad charger can be removed and one with a different pin configuration for other countries pushed on so it is not necessary to carry plug converters outside the US.

  • When i try to charge my iPod anywhere it will charge for a while then it says "charging not supported with this accesssory" What do i do?

I tried charging my iPod and it did charge a little bit but then this came up

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.
