Is it possible to charge Zen Vision:M without drivers install

Ok, here's the deal.. I bought my Vision:M, installed the software on my home computer, charged the player up, put my songs on.. Everything went fine. I had to go out of town, so I brought my laptop, thinking I'd use it to recharge my player. However, when I tried to install the software, I found out that it's not compatible with anything other than Windows XP (I have windows 2000 professional on my laptop) So, I tried just plugging my player into the USB port on the laptop anyway. The player turned on, and the lightning bolt came on over the battery. Hooray! But, it never did actually charge. Left it plugged in overnight (about 6 hours) and in the morning it had the same amount of charge as when I had first plugged it in. So, today I visited a couple electronics stores to try to find a car charger.. no luck. Nobody had a charger made by creative labs, and the "uni'versals" I tried didn't work.
I bought and tried two. Both caused the player to turn on when plugged in, but neither actually charged it (the lightning bolt never even came on over the batttery pic) I can't seem to find drivers anywhere for this that will work with Windows 2000. Found a 39 meg file on this site here (the player organizer, I think) but even that wouldn't install, because it said it failed to detect a supported product (my zen was plugged in, but now has no battery at all left) So, sorry to ramble so much... Can anyone help Is there any way for me to charge this thing I'm gonna have a LONG dri've home (400 miles) and don't want to do that without my tunes. Thanks in advance!

I use this one: Griffin Technology iTrip Auto Uni'versal Plus (7259TRIPUNP)http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Griffin-Technology-iTrip-Auto-Uni'versal-Plus-7259TRIPUNP/sem/rpsm/oid/68474/catOid/-2927/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do?Its an FM transmiitter and if you take along the sync adapter and your USB cable you can plug it in to the Itrip and the Zen Vision M will charge as your are listening to it.

  • Does Zen micro power adapter charge Zen Vision

i tied the good old power adapter on my Vision M but it seemed to charge it...a little...but then it didn't do anything so i'm wondering if i just need to try it again or does it not work period...

i just happened to look in the instruction manual that came with the VM and it says absolutely nothing about NOT powering it through the AC adapter that was previously provided with the Zen Micro, not that i'm gonna lose sleep over it but why can't that power adapter charge the vision M?

  • Time-Scale option and bookmark setting possible on Creative ZEN Vision

Does the ZEN Vision: M 60GB has a time scale option and is it possible to set bookmarks?on songs in this player like in the old CREATIVE Nomad Jukebox 3. As a musician I like this options for exercising and rehearsals.

Theres a bookmark feature, but it needs improvment. Theres is no Time-Scaling, a feature I miss from the Zen Xtra.

  • ZEN Vision M: Without Charger ...Why

I?m searching the best mp3 player and, when finally i find it... Does not include a fast charger (for wall socket). What are you (Creative labs) thinking ?Do you think, that i have all the time for expecting for a slow charge by USB port ??Why, do you makes it difficult for customersDo you think, i have?nt enough money for pay it ??What?s happening ?

When you run your Zen Vision: M off any charger and use it while its plugged in it doesnt take any power from the battery, it uses power from your plug that is transfered through the adapter. Using your Zen Vision:M while charging does slow down the charging process a little bit, but not by much. I hope this explanation has solved your question.

I have a friend with ZEN 5 GB and tell me the same (like Muvo2) ... it's extrange because my generic power adapter charges the battery correctly, but when i remove the battery and try to work directly with the power adaptor don't work.
Please, I don't know if my problem it's my generic power adaptor ... anyboy have the ZEN Micro 6 Gb and can work with the player removing the battery and plugged it with the Creative ZEN Micro original power adaptor (not included with the product)?

  • Plugged my Zen Vision W in before installing the software. Now its stuck in docked mo

Okay, I know it was a stupid mistake, but I somehow missed the part in the directions that said NOT to plug in the Zen before installing. I plugged it in during installation, which I've always done with my other creative mp3 players. Big mistake. Now it's stuck in docked mode AND won't turn off. My computer also won't recognize the player. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

    whoo
    ps.
.. I forgot to put this stuff in: . What you have tried so far to solve the problem.Reinstalling the software and rebooting. If this is related to software or connection issues, state the software you are using, version, and the version of Windows. Windows XP. But I don't know if it's connection or not.

  • Zen Vision: M USB

Hey everybody, i've been looking around to see if there was any possibility for the Zen Vision M to have an adapter to connect to digital cameras and transfer files onto the harddri've for storage or maybe something like the zen vision adapter where you can just put in the card, but i havent seen anything, is there already something out like that or is it in the works or is it just not possible? any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The ZVM hasn't got USB OTG.
No idea if Creative plan to make anything that lets you copy Digital Camera images onto the player

  • Zen Vision M 30GB is stuck in Recovery Mode

Hi, I have a Zen Vision M 30GB that is stuck in Recovery Mode. I have tried ' Cleaning ', ' Formatting ' and ' Reload Firmware ' but none of my 3 computers in which it was previously used recognise the device. The computers have Win Xp Home, Win xP Pro and Win 7 Pro, 64-bit. I could get it to connect once to my Win 7 and I set the firmware down to .4 ( I think), as I have read that latest Firmware .20 does not recognise some of the new batteries with 400 mAh and 700mAh batteries. I have tried the MP3 Recovery Tool, Creative Wizard tool but none work. Would appreciate any suggestion. I have read extensi'vely the postings about Zen Vision M in the ABIT (anythingbutipod) Forums, but no luck in re-loading the firmware. TIA, MPM

I had installed .4. and in the Recovery Mode, it dispalys v0.0.6. I have Creative Zen Vision M Media Explorer installed in both, my Xp Home desktop and Xp Pro ( not 64-bit) in my laptop. I will check which version of WMP is installed in my Xp systems.
On many occasions, all 3 computers (including Win & Pro 64-bit) signalled ' Un-recognised USB Device many times but now nothing happens and I can operate the touch pad of the Zen even when it is connected to the computers !!

  • Zen Vision M: Unable to charge. Nearly to give product back (forev

    Hello,
I purchased a Zen Vision M two weeks ago. When I arri've at home I installed the software successfully and then connected the Zen Vision M to my USB poert on my laptop (Win XP Pro SP2) to charge it; no sign of life. No display activity and NO LED CHARGE ACTIVITY. I letf the ZVM an entire night to see if things changed, but no success. I've tried the following:
    - Disable power saving on usb port: no sign of life
    - Gave everyone permission on usb port: no sign of life
    - Push reset button and the recharge: no sign of life
    - Tried on a different PC: no sign of life
So I retuned to the shop and:
    - We checked with a differnt cable and with a desktop on the shop: no sign of life.
I asked to change the ZVM with another one. Yesterday, after TWO WEEKS of delay (because the shop had to order since it was the last ZVM they had), I had the new ZVM. Result: NO SIGN OF LIFE once again.
    Note that:
    - my USB ports (of both laptop) works perfectly with other devices
    - my usb ports have power: I have a USB PC Lamp, and a USB Optical Mouse and they works perfectly.
    - I let the ZMV connected to the USB port always more than 8 hour. The Laptop power option was set to avoid hybernate or suspend status
    - No application was running during charge
I tryed to find a phone tech support, but - despite the statement on the creative site - in italy there is no phone support, just via e-mail.
If the customer support will not able to resolve the problem I'll give my ZVM back (forever) and I will ask my money back.
My percption of the problem is that the ZVM have battery completed depleted and USB is not able to provide enough power to charge. But the fact that not even the LED id flashing let me with no clue.
I kindly ask the community if someone had the same problems, and if there are any suggestion that AT LEAST let my charge led flashing.
Sorry, for the long post, but I'm really upset with the whole situation.
    Thank you in advance.
    Riccardo

I am new to these forums. So bear with me. I am in the Oz outback.
In a possible answer to your problem IlRiccardo I purchased two Zen Vision M units this past week with the same problem. I returned the first unit and got my money back. I purchased a second unit from a different supplier in a another town. Same problem again The second time I did read the supplied booklets in more detail pouring over every word. I found what the symbols in the top right of the screen was suppose to mean. I did purchase units with the Creative supplied powerpack. I was able power the unit up on the external power pack.
    Q. Do you have a symbol that looks like a plug with two prongs on it's
Q2. What is the version number of the installed firmware?
I had that symbol on the top right of the screen. I found through a small Product Information booklet that it was to indicate a fully charged battery and operating on external power. RUBBISH (to the charged battery) as it was a brand new unit. The firmware version installed in both ZENs was .30.xx (cannot remember the last two digits).
I checked the Creative FAQ pages at my daughter's place (in town where I purchased second unit) and found a page listing most of the same symptons as I was experiencing. The download page was talking about a version .50.xx. The link was for a downloadable version of .6.0.
Subsequently I did download the update file and installed it. Low and behold my ZEN Vision M now showed the symbol for a charging battery. The unit did charge up and is working on the battery. Firmware Version .6.0
Check with your supplier/shop where you purchased your ZEN to see if this action will void the warranty? My supplier is suggesting it has!!!!. I hope I don't have to go down the warranty path for any reason.
Hope this helps you and others.
I have post an almost similarly worded reply in another thread about "not charging" SO it is a firmware version issue in my view.

  • Can I leave the zen vision:m plugged to the AC charger long time, one week for examp

Hello, I would like to use the zen vision as a jukebox, playing music 24 hours per day for long times (weeks for example), and I would like to know if is possible to leave it plugged to the AC constantly, using the power of the AC charger instead of the batteries. I would like to know exactly what would it happen, I mean, if the player is 00% charged, would it discharge or would it use only the AC power, or would it use the power of the batteries and when they begin to decrease the AC will charge them?
I know that usually it is not very advisable let the charger plugged due to the heat buildup, but I did it to a lot of devices before (cd players for example), and I never had a problem, I think is only a little bit excessi've way of caution.
    Thank you in advance

I would not recommend it, It isn't documented but I don't think this is the intended use of the Zen Vision:M
Number one; the LCD screen would constantly be on, and is bound to burn out. Maybe not after a week, but a considerably short time compared to standard usage.
Number Two; how would the motor of the hard dri've hold up, spinning continuously. Its small, very fragile and not ment for heavy duty work is my assumption.
Number Three; As far as the battery is concerned, I don't know what would happen. I know that after the charge is complete the charging supposed to stop. But what would the effects be after never using it's Rechargable batterys can still die, and loose there lifespan when not used for a long time, and old unused batteries may leak causing some damage and maybe even an injury,
Number Four; This a "Portable" MP3 player, and is most likely logically designed, tested, and approved under specific specifications and usage. Not to mention you'd be waseting half the funtionality of the player. The Vision:M was made to be a specticle, Look, it has a touch pad and buttons that light up. It shows movies and pictures, it can record audio, play FM Radio, and sync up with Outlook. You wanna stick something like that on a shelf for weeks?
You need more of a stationary Jukebox with Hard Dri've support and MP3 functionality. I don't know where you can get one or even if they exist. But my guess that they'd be really expensi've.But on the other hand I'd feel more comforatable experiementing with a Zen Xtra. Because its bigger, studier, the battery is removable, cheaper, and it functionality is more focused on what you want to do which is just to play music.
Though even it was ment to be portable....

  • Creative Zen Vision M no longer charges with the wall char

I have had a zen vision M for about 5 months and have never had a problem with it til now. I was listening to it this morning and realised it needed charging so i plugged in the charger as well and all was fine. It seemed to charge for awhile and then it stopped and the charge went backwards. Now every time i plug in the wall charger (that came with the player when i bought it in July 2006) it just shows as being on AC power unless i hold it in a specific position. I have it plugged into my computer at the moment and it seems to be charging. the blue light is on and the battery is showing as charging. How do i know if its a problem with my charger or not - i tried my PSP charger as i had seen that in some posts on here and the same thing happened. I think its something internal. I don't want to send it anywhere as of course its out of warranty and i don't want to pay for anything.Anyone have any ideas. I read something about firmware fixing battery charging ability but then it wipes out FM recording - not that i use it that much but i still use it.Anyway im wondering if anyone has any ideas or if anyone else has had the same problem. I searched high and low but i could only find people with charging problems when they first bought the units.Any help would be appreciated as i like to listen to it at work and my work computer won't accept my player as im not an administrator so i can't install it etc. I need to be able to charge it either at home or at work so i can listen to it. Thanks for your time in advance, i really hope someone can help me as i love this groovy player and i just lectured my sister the other day on how much better than an ipod it is and now it goes and does this. Thanks again

It seems to have fully charged. I left it on while i went out and it now says it has full battery although it still seems to be charging. Does that mean there could be a problem with the AC charger slot on the adapter? Is there any way to buy a new adapter? if that seems to be the problem. If i upgrade to the latest firmware can i go back to the original if necessary?

  • Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging

(Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging( Hi, I recently bought a refurbished ZVM that doesnt seem to charging properly. When I first got it, it hadnt been charged in quite some time so the battery was overdead. My PC couldnt detect it when I connected it via usb and it didnt even start charging at all. I then connected it to a wall charger and it finally started charging. The strange thing is it never fully charges. I've charged it twice now, both times for at least about 2 hours, and the battery doesnt go more than 50%. And when I connect it to my PC to transfer songs, instead of resuming its charge, my battery runs out. Is this a case of a faulty battery? I li've in Australia and I bought it from the USA. I would prefer not to go through the trouble of returning it if I could. Anything I should do like leaving it to charge for an even longer time? Also one more thing I should mention. When I remove the wall charger and plug it back in, it takes the ZVM sometime to detect it, about 30 minutes or so, and start charging again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. I just mailed mine in for repair today.

  • ZEN VISION:M CHARGING PROBLEM - H

[color="#ff0000"]ZEN VISION:M MP3 PLAYER CHARGING PROBLEM?My MP3 player was charging perfectly for the first 4 weeks of its life with me. I usually charged using the USB port on my computer. When connected, the player would come to life and the CHARGING ICON would appear and flash until the unit was fully charged and the CHARGED ICON would come on. Worked well. Now when I connect the player to the computer, instead of the CHARGING ICON coming on, the unit immediately begins playing music or going to the last mode it was in before being shut down previous to connecting for charging.
I have tried a reset of the whole player but that did not make any difference. I?encounter the same problem when connecting the player to the car?charger/power adapter. Can anyone give me some assistance? Cure? Thanks,? David B.
