Is it possible to clear all mail settings and start again?

I have no idea how but I have SMTP settings and Pop settings in my server list in Mail that are long gone, years ago, and I think they are causing issues with other email settings, is it possible to clear all settings and start from scratch? (without losing any mail)

You can't just edit them from Accounts>Preferences? Other than that, first quit Mail and make a backup copy of your entire Mail folder in your user Library/Mail. Move it out to the Desktop by holding the Option key down while dragging, for safekeeping.
Then, with Mail still quit, navigate to the user Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist and move that file out to the Desktop for safekeeping, in case you want it back. You want to remove that file completely from its original locaton. For this, don't use Option-drag.
Now open Mail and you will get a new setup routine. I've gone as far as being presented with the new Mail setup, then decided not to follow through by putting the original preference file back, so I don't know if your old emails will automatically be present. But, if not, you will have the backup Mail folder from which to restore them.

Grrr! Comcast had my Mom change all sorts of email account and ISP settings, to the point where nothing works. All you have to do is delete the account. This will also delete all her downloaded mail if this is a POP account.

PLEASE can someone offer some helpful advice on how to resolve this issue as I now have to re-purchase more data that's just been topped up for 3rd time this holiday and I'm literally only using it for my email(UNBELIEVABLE!!!!) 5gig's just for email and I've literally received only 50-80 new emails over the holiday season. #goinginsane

Clear Address book sync and start again

i am using Address Book and Google Sync to sync up Address Book although one or the other keeps producing double entries even when i clear them out. I assume that the sync memory needs clearing. how can i do this? Then how do I tell Google Contacts, my truth in this case, to resync to Address Book one way only for this one sync?

Problem with Pogo games.

Mozilla are aware of the issue in Firefox 3.6.14 and are working on a fix, no timescale but they are planning on a quick release. Firefox 3.6.15 will fix the issue with some Java applets not working, which has caused many Pogo games to stop functioning.

I have (Yosemite) Mail linking into BT. I have a problem that occurred with Mavericks and continues with Yosemite Mail. Mail works fine for a month or two then goes wrong... almost a pattern! Usually I put it right by deleting the account and set it up again and it works for a while. I am so frustrated because I do not understand the intricacies of software and programming. Now it is refusing to send emails in both my and my wife's account. iCloud works (after I deleted and set it up again). But I need our BT separate accounts. Is there a way of deleting all the old bits and pieces of files that might be 'remembering' bad settings and starting again? Is there a fix? I am alarmed by the smart-alec comments of people with 'level 5/whatever' who say there is no issue. There damned well is!

There are a plethora of problems noted here with BT's email service, but similar could be said for various others.
You could delete the ~/Library/Mail folder along with the containers and preferences.
Note that deleting the Mail folder will delete all of your email stored on the Mac.
Inside the Mail/V2 folder are folders for each account. You could start with deleting those and the Containers, Prefs.
Containers: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Preferences: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
However, if it works for a period of time, then stops working, it isn't dredging up an old setting from somewhere. The settings are what they are at the time; no history.
What can possibly happen, and does seem to happen with Mail periodically, is that the Keychain stores multiple passwords for the accounts.
Open Keychain Access, select login keychain, and then search for your email accounts. Delete any entries you have for the accounts.
Then, open Mail and enter the correct passwords for the accounts. That will ensure there is only one password being attempted.

Wrong software... I am having trouble with Lightroom 5. Since my images are still on my memory card, I should be able to delete that which I have on Lightroom 5 because it is in a scrambled mess and I cannot export the images to folders. I want to start over.

In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete the account and re-enter it - sometimes that resolves this
Or IMHO the best long term solution is to set Apple Mail as the iPhoto e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences and use it - it has a number of advatages and has fewer problems

Since upgrading to 3.6.10 I cannot log onto my bank. Checked all cookie settings and all is as it should be. Bank says this is a Firefox problem?

Bank advises the there is a problem with FF 3.6.10 not remembering cookies. I have checked all cookie settings and cleared all cookies and history to start over. Still won't work. Try to clear the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Errors when updating leads to corrupt system files and this may be your problem. If you're using windows, connect your device to PC and run any third party app like Syncios. If it detects, you maybe in luck and try to back-up your data if possible. I hope that it won't and if doesn't, there is no other way to recover files. You should be restoring with iTunes and all data will be erased, or else your device may become unusable.

Erase Mail settings and import mailboxes

I'm having trouble with Apple Mail 3.5 and think that it's isolated to my personal settings within the home dir. Often, when I receive attachments on my IMAP email account, they come through as plain text rather than an attachment. The same message w/ attachment is received properly on my laptop, so I know it's isolated to my desktop computer. Since my home directory is network based, I tried logging into another desktop on the network and experienced the same issue. I'd like to wipe all my mail settings and set-up the accounts fresh. The IMAP messages are not a problem, but I need to know how to properly back-up and import my old messages that are stored on the hard drive?
I don't know what else to do to solve the problem? I've tried deleting all cache and repairing permissions, etc. It must be something with the mail preferences or settings!?!?!?

Close Mail, move the file com.apple.Mail.plist from the folder <home>/Library/Preferences to the Desktop and re-start Mail. It will start up as if it has never been configured before and ask you to create your primary email account. If you have more than one email account you can add them via Mail Preferences after Mail loads.
Your old messages (the ones under "ON MY MAC") are stored in the folder <home>/Library/Mail/Mailboxes and should remain unaffected but if you are a bit nervous about losing any of those messages then drag the folder <home>/Library/Mail to your Desktop so that you can import the messages after you have set up your accounts as per above.

You need to restore the iPad.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
