Is it possible to close all apps in one one click?

Is there a simpler way of closing all apps on your iphone than doube-clicking the home button and then closing each one individually? I don't see a "close all apps" option anywhere.  Sometimes I find myself with 20 apps open all at once and it's tedious to close them all one at a time.

Another concern is power consumption; I have been told by friends with "modified" iPhones that they still use more power if not closed out. They claim that their battery lasts longer when their alotted memory scope is smaller. I just need some fuel for dispute since I feel that the memory has the same power consumption whether it is 'holding' useable data or not.
Thanks

is it possible to close all apps quickly or all at the same time, clear the task bar quickly
if not how do I suggest this as a feature ?

I've noticed if the "task bar" has a lot in it the batter life can be reduces to almost half.
No, something else is making your battery life reduce. The apps shown in the "Recently Used Apps" list (it's not a task bar) are not all running, and most of them are not even in memory.
The only apps that continue to "run" in the background (potentially using up battery) are GPS apps, ones that play audio, and VOIP apps. Other apps are frozen in memory and are doing nothing until you switch back to them.
    See: http://developer.apple.com/technologies/ios/whats-new.html#multitasking
As I already mentioned, if the OS needs more RAM it will automatically close the least recently used app.
secondly I like to have things neat and closed down
Why? You can only actually see 4 apps in this list at any one time. Just don't scroll it to the left and you'll only ever see 4 apps.
this would save me a tone of time every day.
Not going through the pointless process of removing all the recently used apps would also save you a ton of time every day.
also a lot of people seem to be askign for it.
That's because they haven't bothered to learn what the Recently Used Apps list is, and how multitasking works in iOS.
why would you not want it
Because, as I said, it serves no function. If it was necessary to remove all apps from this list (to keep the phone running well, for instance), Apple would've provided a function to do it. They haven't. I don't want Apple wasting time adding unnecessary features to my iPhone. That's why.
You have to understand that this is not a "task bar". Every app you see there is not a running "task". Only GPS, audio playing and VOIP apps can actually do something in the background. All others are either frozen in memory, or not even there at all, just listed as a "recently used app".

  • Close all apps at once?

    Hi,
Any way to close all apps running with one fell swoop? Keyboard command for example? Thanks

I think the only way would be to create an Applescript that closes all open processes and use QuicKeys or QuickSilver to create a hot key. Here is the script. I don't know if you need to except out the Finder, but I did and gives you the ability to do the same for others that you might want to keep open. If you don't want to use the hot key options, you could always save the script as an app and put it in the dock for one-click quitting. Copy the following to a Script Editor window and save as an application.
    tell application "System Events"
set quitList to name of processes whose background only is false
    end tell
    repeat with anApp in quitList
if anApp is not in {"Finder"} then
    tell application anApp
    quit
    end tell
    end if
    end repeat

  • Is it possible to close all MDI Sheet?

Is it possible to close all MDI sheet in a MDI application window without losing
the toolbar? It works in 6i client/server mode but no in web applet.
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

It's very annoying having to do all those extra steps to truly close an app after I exit it. It wastes my battery and eats into my 200MB monthly bandwidth. Worst. Feature. Ever.
Even turning my phone off and then back on doesn't clear the multi-task tray. I really do have to manually close every app now. If it wasn't for the homepage wallpaper feature (which I've wanted forever), I would revert my OS without hesitation. But I love the homepage wallpaper too much.
I am extremely grateful that the 3G does not support multi-tasking. If it did, trying to explain to my wife how to manually close her apps all the time so her battery didn't die prematurely would cause so much headache I'd probably have to buy her a non-iPhone. Even if she grasped what she was supposed to do, the tediousness of it would make her mad that I ever convinced her to get an iPhone. As it stands, I now I have a reason not to get her an iPhone 4 when I eventually do, even though I looked forward to being able to FaceTime with her.

Try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

  • How do I close all apps at once

The shutdown procedures in Lion are broken (IMHO). Shutdown should mean shutdown, not sleep/standby. This is a powerful computer, not some cheap portable toy. Multiple apps is not a bolt on but a norm.
In another thread there seems to be no apparent way around Lion not closing apps on shutdown    After another 5+minute boot time (white screen of death?) I am getting fustrated. Apps I do not want to load insist on loading without asking because shutdown does not close the apps correctly.
Does anybody know of a scripting way that will automatically close all apps gracefully upon shutdown?
    Thanks.

No. You have to swipe each app up off the screen to close them.

  • HT5137 Does closing apps save battery life? If so, is there a way to close all apps at once?

Does closing apps save battery life? If so, is there a way to close all apps at once?

There is no way to close all apps at once. When you leave an app , most apps stop working immediately. A few apps will continue to complete the task they were working on. Mail is an example of that. There is a short time limit though after which the app stops running and the state you left it in is stored. Quitting apps does not increase battery life.

  • Close all apps button missing Xperia Z3

After I updated to Lollipop, the "close all" button in recent apps has disappeared.Strange to take away features in a "update", isn't it?

I found some issues in Xperia Z3 5.0.2 update and want to share with Sony Xperia Z3 software DevelopersPlease send it to Xperia Z3 software developers.
1- Device Freeze sometime when we open a game.
First issue that I am facing is that some time when we start a game device freeze and nothing happened i have to force restart the device to fix it
I face it on different games and believe me games are fully compatible with Lollipop, working fine on my Brother Note 4 lollipop.
Sony may need to fix the GPU drivers libs files in system. I am talking about this issue after examining every thing and it is surly related with software. 2- No Close all button in recent panel.
In Kitkat we have a close all button in recent app panel to close all apps at once, but no button in Lollipop. 3- No Camera Raw Capture in Stock & support for third party apps.
Lollipop it self have a feature to capture pictures in Raw format, but it seems Sony remove this feature from their update and also block it for third party camera apps and they are not able to get the permission from mobile to capture in Raw.
Please Sony If you don't want to give this feature in your stock camera app its fine for me, but at-least put this feature back in lollipop so that we can take picture in Raw with third party camera apps 4- No Stereo Ringtone Sound.
When some one call us then ringtone start ringing, and ring sound only come from bottom speaker more louder then very very low from top speaker.
You need to modify the sound files in system/etc/tfa98xx folder to fix this issue. 5- Device Getting slow charging
In Kitkat my z3 charged faster then the lollipop.
I can conform that i am using Sony Z3 Original charger for charge my device, and their is no issue in charger.
I am talking about this issue after examining every thing that it is surly related with software. 6- Device heating up more in 5.0.2 as compare to 4.4.4 while heavy usage
This will fix also when Sony Fix GPU drivers libs files in system as describe up, in note # (1) 7- Battery Drain is faster then the kitkat
I do not want to explain it more, because as I describe up their is an issue regarding Device heating up because of system files and obviously Battery drain is also faster then normal. 8- About Volume and Notifications
8.1- Some time my media sound automatically decrease from settings/sound & notification / Media Volume.
8.2- When silent mode off and interruptions are allowed for Notification even then some time my phone remain silent at the time of arrival of notifications.  Please send it to Xperia Z3 software developers

  • Close all apps ios7

iOS 6 you double clicked home, held any icon and that would allow you to close all running apps at once.
Did Apple really forget this out of iOS7 ?
Oh and no, I'm not talking about the 3 finger swipe up to close 3 apps, I'm l  king for the close ALL apps at once feature.
    Tks

As I recall, tap and hold on an icon in the try (iOS 6 and below) made them wiggle and you could tap the X to close one at a time - no?

  • Close all visible InternalJFrames in one step...

I am trying to find a way to close all visible InternalFrames in one step(or One statement).... any ideas?

Look at the API for JDesktopPane and see if there is a method which will return all internal frames. If so, make each one of them not visible.

  • HT5655 I followed all the instructions to update Flash Player, but the installation fails at around 90%, it says that there is an Application running (Safari) bit I actually close all Apps. already. can someone help me with this issue ?? Thanks

I have followed the instructions to update Flash Player, the Installation Fails at about 90%, it says that there is an Application running (Safari) and it says to close all the apps. and start again ... but I already close all the Applications ... none is running ... can someone help me with this issue ??? Thanks ...

    Dear Dominic
Brilliant reply. Simple English. Simple to follow instructions. And it worked immediately, first time.
Why couldn't the Apple and Adobe corporations get their programming right first time? We spend billions of UK pounds and US dollars with them. They reply with incompetent programming such as this, and arrogance to their customers in issuing faulty systems without doing the most rudimentary checks.
Anyway, I certainly shan't be buying another Apple as this is the most unreliable, most incomprehensible, most illogical and downright thoughtless shoddy piece of computer kit which I have ever owned. And all of it is rubbish ~ emails disappear, photos can't be organised properly, spreadsheets don't work, Pages is laborious… the list goes on and on...
But thanks to you Dominic, I have been able to load Adoble Flashj… maybe eyou should get  a job at Apple, and set them all on the right course to how to work simply and correctly with customers.
    Thanks again,
    David

  • How do i close all apps before shutting down-Ipad

How do I close down all apps before shutting down iPad?

Click the Home button once to display your Home Screens. Double click the Home button. That should display your open apps at the bottom of the screen. Press one of those icons until they wiggle and a red dot with an "x" appears appears on each icon. Press the red dot to close down each app. Press the Home button when all apps are closed. You may need to press the Home button again to get back to the normal Home Screen display.

logout will do this. Of course you have to log in again afterwards, but it will kill all user-related processes.
