    Actually, I don't think you need to have it plugged in.
    This: "You can use your MacBook in lid closed mode if the computer is connected to an external display, keyboard, and mouse."

  • Is it possible to use the iMac display as en external monitor?

    I want to connect my powerbook up to an iMac using the display as an external monitor for the laptop. Is this even possible? Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Hello,
    I've seen this post at least a hundred times. Has
    anyone actually had the gusto to try this idea?
    I don't remember where the page was. But, I posted it's link several months ago in the forums during another discussion.
    But, the guy who had done it to his iMac G3 had very poorly documented his conversion.
    Basically, he took and wired signal to same signal on the monitor, and adapted his power supply and other items to work properly in the modified setup.
    So, it is possible. You just need to sit down with the schematics and wire signal to same signal, and make sure you account for all the variables. It may take some resistors, etc. to get the adaptation just right.
    I don't have any reason to do it myself, so I'm not going to tinker with it.
    If I remembered the link, I'd post it. But, it wouldn't do much good anyway since his HTML formatting was severely messed-up. The end-result was accurate information that was scrambled around on the screen in such a way that you couldn't decipher it anyway. If he had done the HTML work properly, it would be in a formatted table. But, instead the information was scattered all over the screen in an illogical format. So, it wasn't of much real use.

  • Possible to default the value displayed in a dropdown?

    My form has several drop down list boxes which I prefill in WDA with values - specifically, Project Manager name.
    When I go in to my form, I can select any one and Submit back to the backend. the data is saved appropriately.
    When I go in Change Mode, I select the data from the backend to display in my form, but those names do not populate in my drop down fields.
    I know this is possible, because there are a few other drop down boxes that do come back pre-filled.
    The only difference between the dropdown boxes that do work and those that don't is that the ones that do work have static values defined in the form while the others have values populated dynamically from the web dynpro and passed in to the form.
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    rp.

    EDIT.. I fixed this by passing the drop down VALUE to the form instead of the actual TEXT.
    for instance, my manager's id was 12345 but I passed John Doe.
    passing 12345 chose the correct TEXT to display.

  • Possible to use the MBP display for use with XBOX 360 through DVI port?

    Hi everyone, I know that the topic sounds ludicrous to probably a lot of you. After all, how dare a Mac user use a Microsoft machine right ;)? Well, truth be told, I like the 360 and that's the only MS product I prefer to use.
    Anyway, I'm going to be picking up my own 360 within the next few days and am currently deciding whether to also buy a new HDTV with the purchase or if I can wait. I'm going to be buying a new TV eventually but I was hoping to put off the purchase for a while since I remembered that the 360 can hook up to monitors through VGA. So what I want to know is whether the DVI port on my MBP is output only or will it accept input signals? Also, if it is possible to hook up my 360 through the DVI port, is there an easy way to attach the DVI-VGA adapter to the 360 seeing? By this I mean, the adapter is only about three inches or so and it would be pretty difficult to attach both machines to each other, so I was wondering if there might be a female-female VGA adapter bridge or some easy method of doing this.
    Thank you all for your help in advance.

    Outsider,
    Check out this link and enjoy the 360 on your MBP!

  • Is it possible to change what is displayed in the GAL in Exchange 2013

    We have always used [email protected] for our primary email addresses, and to facilitate this someone back in the days of Exchange 2003 decided it would be sensible to use the firstname.lastname
    format for our alias. This means our primary email does not match our UPN. Now, we are moving to Exchange 2013 and want to use autodiscover we find we need to change this so primary email and UPN are the same while still retaining the original email
    addresses. Easy enough change, powershell script to modify the alias, new address policy on the 2013 server and migrate your users, changes made for you.
    However, this has caused some concern amongst the senior management because it changes what is displayed in the GAL, so instead of the friendly first.last name listed under alias and the just as friendly
    [email protected] listed under email address it will now show the UPN as alias and
    [email protected] for email.
    I have now been asked to see if it is possible to modify the details displayed in the GAL, I know you could in previous versions of Exchange using things like EMC, but I don't see any way of doing this in 2013.
    Is this possible, and if so how?

    You can use the Details Template to change what the GAL shows.

  • How tow connect two external displays that are not mirrored and turn of the retina display

    Hello,
    I have two questions:
    1.  Is it possible to use two external displays either mirrored or not and turn off the retina display, and if so how it is done?
    2.  Is it possible to close the MBP and use an external keyboard while using two external displays?
    I am using a music production DAW Persons Studio One-2 Pro and it would be great to be able to have this type of a setup.
    Thank You,
    Breezinabout
    Macbook Pro  15" Retina display I7 2,3mz 500gb SSD late 2013  OSX Yosemite 10.10.1

    Hi Breezinabout,
    The MacBook Pro Late 2013 retina display model will support two external displays. See this specifications page for reference -
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) - Technical Specifications
    Specifically -
    Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors
    And -
    Thunderbolt digital video output
    Native Mini DisplayPort output
    DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (sold separately)
    VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)
    Dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)
    HDMI video output
    Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
    Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
    Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz
    You would, if you wish, turn off the internal display by closing the MacBook Pro, which is called "closed-clamshell" mode. It requires you to have an external keyboard and mouse. See this article for further information -
    How to use your Mac notebook computer in closed-clamshell (display closed) mode with an external display - Apple Support
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How can I select the secondary display in a multiple display setup?

    I am using a 2012 Mac mini with Thunderbolt and HDMI video outputs to run the multimedia display at our church.  The Thunderbolt port drives a Dell Monitor acting as our primary display.  The HDMI output is set as the secondary display and goes into a splitter so the signal can go either to a small TV beside us in the balcony or into an HDMI selector which then feeds into another splitter which delivers signal to both a 80" TV on the balcony wall and to a Peerless HD flow which transmits the signal to TVs up front.  The issue is the mac will register three possible options for the secondary display (the small monitor TV, the Sharp TV on the back wall, or the HD flow system).  I need it to consistently select one of these, preferably the HD flow system, since that will become bogged down with resolutions higher than 720 p.  Can anyone lend me some advice?  I've included a simple diagram of the situation.  Thanks!

    Thanks.  Bummer about the image.  It really helps make sense of the layout. I can see it, but that doesn't really help anyone else    Do you know if the mac "remembers" the last used display and selects that one or what would be the parameters in selecting which display it actually settles on among the choices?  Is the first to 'wake' or the last?  We have changed the startup sequence and can't seem to get consistent results.

  • Is there any way to lock the HDMI display on one desktop?

    Hello!
    My Macbook Pro HDMI-connection to my TV works great -- the only thing I wasn't able to figure out is if it was possible to lock the HDMI display on one desktop. I use five different desktops (spaces) and I'm using extended desktop(s) for my HDMI, but every time I switch to another desktop, whatever I'm watching on my TV switches to the extended desktop for whatever space I just switched to, meaning that my TV switches to blank screens. Is there any way that, even if I continue switching through desktops on my computer, I can keep my HDMI locked on the extended space for "Desktop 1," for example?
    Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

    If you disable the "Change with buttons" setting, the buttons will still control the general volume (music, games, etc) but will NOT change the ringer or alarm sound settings (keyboard clicks also fall into this category but is not mentioned). This lets you use the volume up/down buttons to change the general volume level without changing the ringer and alarm volume levels...it keeps you from inadvertently turning down the ringer or alarm volume and missing calls and alarms.
    That being said, there's no way to totally disable the volume up/down buttons from doing something volume related.

  • How to Close the launchDialog of AdfFacesContext in Bean

    Hi,
    In my application i am opening a new dialog by using the API "launchDialog" of AdfFacesContext. I have one issue regarding client requirement. Here when user clicks on a launch button, it will launch a new dialogue as per the code written. But if user clicks on that launch button again and again without closing the already launched dialog, it keeps on opening as many new dialogues.
    But it should not be the case as per requirement. My requirements are listed below.
    1. If the dialogue is already opened, it should set focus to that rather opening a new dialogue.
    2. Is it possible to close the launched dialogue from bean??
    Can anyone help me regarding this???
    Example code written
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    UIViewRoot dialog = (UIViewRoot) JSFUtils.getFromSession("HelpViewRoot");
    if (dialog == null) {
    // Create the dialog UIViewRoot
    ViewHandler viewHandler = context.getApplication().getViewHandler();
    ViewHandler viewHandler = context.getApplication().getViewHandler();
    dialog = viewHandler.createView(context, "/help/help.jspx");
    dialog.setId("CALWINHELP");
    JSFUtils.storeOnSession("HelpViewRoot", dialog);
    RichCommandButton rcb = (RichCommandButton) JSFUtils.findComponentInRoot("helpBtnId");
    HashMap properties = new HashMap();
    properties.put("width", new Integer(200));
    properties.put("height", new Integer(150));
    properties.put("windowEmbedStyle", "inlineDocument");
    HashMap parameters = null;
    AdfFacesContext afContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    DialogService ds = afContext.getDialogService();
    if (ds.peekView() != null) {
    ds.pushView(ds.peekView());
    }else {
    afContext.launchDialog(dialog, parameters, // no particular parameters
    rcb, // launched from component - RichCommandButton
    true, // show it in a dialog
    properties);
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
    according to the JavaDocs you can't. See: http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/trinidad-api/apidocs/org/apache/myfaces/trinidad/context/DialogService.html

  • How to match the Pantone colors to the Cinema Display...

    Hi, I need to match the pantone colors to my cinema display, how to make it...could anyone help.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your response--
    I looked at this adapter:
    http://www.mycableshop.com/sku/ADCHD1506.htm
    However, it says this:
    "The adapter cable allows any VGA monitors to be connected to the new dual-display G4 system with ADC video interface. The VGA monitor can be used as the primary display, or as a second display on G4 that supports dual-monitor support. Compatible with GeForce 4 MX, GeForce 4 Ti, Radeon 7500, and Radeon 9000 Pro."
    My graphics card is a ATI Rage 128 Pro. Will it not work, then?
    What is the possibility of adapting the Cinema Display from DVI to ADC?
    Thanks!

  • It is possible to close an Application

    I have dveloped a Database J"EE WEb -Application.
    Is it possible to close the application and the browser
    without javascript l (like windows.close() `?
    Thanks to all.
    Peter

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/author/dhtml/reference/methods/close_0.asp
    As you can see, MSDN says that if you try to close the toplevel window, a dialog WILL open. In Mozilla, you will get a error message, "Scripts may not close windows that were not opened by script."
    In IE at least, you can redirect to a page like this:
    <HTML>
    <BODY onload="top.window.close()"/>
    </HTML>
    Alternatively, you can run your whole webapp, from the login page onwards in a popup. That way, you can get rid of that annoying back button too. Or, you can use an HTA.
