Is it possible to completely erase itunes

A good majority of the songs I have in iTunes, I no longer listen to. Is it possible to change the fact that they come up in the main page of iTunes?
Or even just store them somewhere elsse so that just what I actually listen to is shown on the main page?

Thank you for you quick reply Michael.
I have tried what you mentioned above and I still have the same incorrect capital letters coming back.
I have tried changing the name to "Queens of the Stone Age 2" and that worked almost instantly.
The problem is when I change back to "Queens of the Stone Age" it just goes back to having those painful capitals there again.
Another example is an artist (Sea of ****) that was on my account previously but is now completely gone from my iTunes library all together. As an experiment I changed changed another completely different artists name to "Sea of ****" just to see what happened. The result was "Sea Of ****". Again with those f**cking capitals!
It appears that once an artists name is uploaded it locks in and remembers the upper and lower case. I can change the artist name itself by adding or deleting characters, but I cannot change the case of those certain letters.
Any other bright ideas out there?

Copy the content from one computer to another and import the media into iTunes.
Any playlists, playcounts, etc on the computer the content is being moved from will be lost.

  • Everything Gone.. iPod Completely Erased.. HOW?

I went to turn my iPod on today, and was shocked to find that everything had been completely erased somehow. Or, at least none of the songs are showing up. I recently updated iTunes, but I don't have iTunes set to sync automatically. I do everything manually. I thought maybe it had something to do with the new iTunes, but I have played my iPod, unplugged from my computer, since the last time having it plugged into the new iTunes. Then today, everything is magically not there. How is this possible?! Can I recover any of my songs, or do I have to go put them ALL back on via iTunes? What causes this? I'm pretty much dying here..

*Can I recover any of my songs...*
Yes, do a Sync from iTunes.
*...or do I have to go put them ALL back on via iTunes?*
Sure. Why is that a problem?
    *What causes this?*
Without having monitored everything that you've ever done with the iPod, that question is impossible to answer.

  • Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase harddisk and install Leopard Snow Leopard Mountain Lion. Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion

Mountain Lion won't install on 10.7.4. Suggestion from Apple is to completely erase the harddisk and install Leopard > Snow Leopard > Mountain Lion.
Is there no other way to install Mountain Lion?

I tried and failed for several hours to install Mountain Lion, and was repeatedly getting the "Recovery System" cannot be created error.  I tried all the tricks: resizing the drive partition, booting from an external boot drive, all to no avail.  After reading other users struggling with the same issue, I had determined it to be a boot camp drive error.  However, I didn't want to have to erase and begin anew when I came upon a possible solution.  I had long ago renamed my boot camp drive with a "." (".windows" for me) in order to avoid having the partition show up on my desktop.  So, I boot into windows and renamed the c: drive without the "." ("windows"), and reboot into os x.  The install then went off without a hitch.  I hope this will be helpful for others struggling with this issue that may have renamed their boot camp drives in a similar manner.

  • Is it possible to keep my iTunes library in an external hard drive?

I have just noticed that my fairly new iMac computer's hard drive is almost completely full.
Is it possible to transfer my iTunes library to an external hard drive (that I have plugged constantly into my iMac computer), and still have full functionality of all of my purchased songs in iTunes?

Hidden WinRE partition was deleted by mistake but I still got the original Recovery DVD for my A200.
Is it possible to completely recover VistaOS without the WinRE partition, using only Recovery DVD?

    Of course.
The Toshiba Recovery CD was designed to recover the notebook.
Using the recovery CD you will get the factory settings.
But note; the Toshiba recovery CD formats the whole HDD and erases the partitions from the HDD.

When Trying to download apps the message

Appears.  This message has been appearing since last week.
    HELP

    I have a possible solution.
I had same problem. Latest iTune, Latest iPhone.
Called the Mac Store, they put me to tech support - did not solve the problem
Uninstalled & reinstaled iTunes - did not solve the problem
What made the problem go away is this:
Updated half of the apps directly on my iPhone while connected on WiFi.
    Ran a sync
iTunes transfered updates from iPhone to iTunes
Then when I tried to download the remainig updtes in iTunes it worked with no problem.
Now there is no problem. Looks like the install of updates directly worked like a roto-rooter. Does no make sense but it worked.

  • We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

Please can someone help. I keep on getting this when I try and buy a song or upgrade my iPhone aps. I have got the latest iTunes on my 15" MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.5 (12F37). Last week I changed my password on //appleid.apple.com I could the access my account in iTunes. I have tried to log on to my account / view my account in itunes / buy a song and tried upgrading my apps, but I can't do anything now. it is frustrating. Please, please, please can someone help. :-)

Unsure if this will help anyone but I had the same problem with the message always coming up when I tried to login: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
What I couldn't understand was that I could log into iTunes online, but not through the iTunes app, becoming very frustrated I went to drastic measures to get everything working again - although I found this post after I had success.
To add to the issue, my iPhone (4S - iOS7) was visible on iTunes (latest version), but some of my apps had failed to sync (showing grey on my iPhone and being unable to delete them), causing further issues and adding to my frustrations....which attributed to the drastic measures posted below.
(You may want to try following the above posts before following my method)

    "Dear Luke,
Thank you for writing to iTunes Store Customer Support, my name is Indra and I'll be assisting to you with your concern.
I understand that you are unable to login to your iTunes store account and getting message that the iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. I can imagine you must be eager to access your account and I will do my best to resolve this issue.
Luke, as an advisor for the iTunes Store, I handle issues related to billing, downloading, customer accounts, and the items available on the iTunes Store. Although your question falls outside of my area of specialty, I will be happy to assist you with resolving your issue.
I have verified that the iTunes Store is functioning and accepting connections. The issue could have been temporary, related to your internet connection, your local network, or your computer itself. If you’re still unable to connect, this article outlines some potential solutions:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

Firewall, virus-protection, and web-acceleration software can prevent you from connecting to the iTunes Store. You might not be able to connect even if the software appears to be configured to allow full access to the iTunes Store. You can use the MSCONFIG utility to determine if software on your computer is preventing access to the iTunes Store. For detailed instructions, please refer to the following article:
Using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows Vista and Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292
If the articles above don't help you connect to the iTunes Store, I suggest testing to see if this issue occurs while you are signed in to a new user account on your computer. To learn how to create a new user account in your version of Windows, please read the article below for your operating system:
How to create and configure user accounts in Windows XP
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279783
Windows Vista: Create a user account

Windows 8: Create a user account
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-user-account
Once you are signed in to this new user account, open iTunes and try to connect to the iTunes Store. If you can connect without error, then you’ve identified that the issue is with the previous user account that you were using. You may want to consider adopting this new account as your user account and transferring your files from the old account to your new one.

But if the above doesn't work for you then you can follow my method...in the end, I perfomed the following actions which did work:
1).  Uninstalled iTunes from my computer (via Control Panel > Programs & Features)
2).  Located the iTunes folder containing media, Previous Libraries etc (normally located under your Music folder) and simply moved it to my desktop. (can't afford to delete)
    3). Downloaded iTunes.
4). Plugged my iPhone into my laptop and moved all contents across to my desktop (photo's).
5). Restored my iPhone erasing ALL data (extreme but desperate measures were required) - you may want to back it up, but I personally didn't have anything that I couldn't afford to loose on it.
6). Set-up my iPhone (set language etc...) including iCloud, but did not plug it into my laptop.
7). Chose the following iPhone settings>
              > iCloud - Contacts turned off
              > Mail, Contacts, Calendars - iCloud Contacts turned off (same end result)
              > iTunes & App Store - made sure I was logged in via Apple ID.
    7). Closed Outlook.
8). Re-installed iTunes, saving it on the C:> default location.
9). Followed the normal iTunes install prompts, setting it up as new. (making sure I had NO apps or music - clean slate)
10). Plugged my iPhone into my laptop, waiting for it to appear as it normally does.
11). Checked for iOS updates and iTunes updates (all good)
12). Checked Sync Contacts with Outlook (opening Outlook at the same time) - Calendars I left to the iCloud
13). APPLY....once sync finally completed (this time SUCCESSFUL) I was able to click iTunes Store and LOG IN.....finally!
I probably didn't have to perform all 13 steps, but that's exactly what I did to get everything working again!
There is probably someone out there who will be able to explain why I couldn't login to iTunes, why many of my apps didn't load onto my iPhone correctly, why everything failed to sync and probably able to shorten the above 13 steps to a quick fix.... but for now, everything is finally working and my 48hrs of frustration has come to an stress free end!

  • "We could not complete your itunes store request"

So I noticed that when I search for an artist in the search bar and the albums come up, when I go to click on the album I get the message "We could not complete your itunes store request.  The itunes store is temporarily unavailable.  Please try again later".  The weird thing is though is that if I click on an album on the itunes homepage it goes to the album completely fine.  I have also noticed that it is only certain artists or albums too.  For example,  I was looking up some japanese artists (ones that I have bought the albums in the past) and the message popped up.  Then when I went to a different type of artist I was able to go to the album just fine.
I am able to do everything else normally on the itunes store though.  I am able to purchase songs even if it is from the albums where I get the message from and they download just fine.  I also noticed that when I am on my iphone and I go to the artists that I got the message with, I am able to go to the albums just fine.
Also, when I went to the "check for updates" I got the message "Itunes update server could not be contacted.  Please check your internet connection or try again later."  There are no problems with my internet as far as I can tell.
My main concern is finding out if this is a problem with the itunes store itself or possibly my computer.  I am extremely worried that it could possibly be a virus.  I hope that someone will be able to help me with this!

    Hallo Niky
I have more or less the same problem on a Windows 7 PC: it started a few days ago for no apparent reason. It's not my internet connection, as a separate iTunes installation on a Mac works fine.
I'm running iTunes 10.6.2.25* on Windows 7 Ultimate. The mac is running the latest iTunes v12.
I've tried signing out, and also changing the country to another and back again to the UK.
One difference to Niky's description above is that if I go to Help > Check for updates it offers the dialog box to download v12.1.1, so that bit's working.
If I run the Diagnostics also from the Help menu, it passes.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!
    Jack
*Before anyone suggests upgrading the Windows iTunes to the latest, I'm reluctant to do so, as (as far as I know) v12 doesn't have the facility to open playlists in a separate window. This is a facility I use freqeuently to make it easier to maintain playlists.

  • We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection...

    Hi,
I have recently downloaded iTunes (three times now) due to getting an ipod for Christmas. When I first tried to buy anything off the iTunes Store I got the following error box "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure you netowkr connections are correct and your netowkr connection is active, then try again." so I have searched the internet for a possible solution, firstly I found I had to stop block-up poppers, i done this and I could buy an album...perfect. The next day I tried buying something else, but alas could not and instead keep receiving the above error message. So far I have tried:
    Re-installing iTunes
    Flushing the DNS
Turning off the firewall (both windows and router)
    Turning off block-up poppers
    Disabling virus protection
The error message is obviously not accurate as I am still able to search the web through internet explorer and Firefox. If anybody has any suggestions to help out that would be great.

You can buy MP3s at any online music download store and add them to your iTunes library, and sync them to your iPod. Some stores add them automatically. Try the amazon.com MP3 Download Store, for example.

  • Best way to completely erase internal HD in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger?

    Hi all-
I wanted to completely erase my hard drive and reinstall OS 10.4. In going through the process, I chose "erase and install" in the Installer utility, hoping it would do away with the multiple partitions I've made on to my Hard Drive. I also want to totally erase all my applications. After all that, I still have everything. I then tried to do the "Erase free space" or "Write with Zeroes" within Disk Utility and got some error saying it was not possible. So... would someone please tell me the quickest way to erase EVERYTHING (partitions included) ? I'd even be willing to buy some app. that would do it for me.
    THANKS!!

    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disk. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to APM then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.

  • "we could not complete your itunes request. An unknown error occurred. (-1202)

I've been unable to connect to the App store or the iTunes store using my Macbook pro (OSX 10.6.8). I can load itunes and play music and I can sync with my iphone, ipod touch, ipad. and other iphones I have, but the itunes app store doesn't come up and I get this gray box with
"we could not complete your itunes store request. An unknown error occurred. (-1202).".
The amazing thing is, I can connect on any of these other devices, download apps, and sync apps with my laptop. I just can't access App store using my laptop which is frustrating as can be because I can't purchase or even TRY any apps for my macbook. I've scoured the internet and been unable to find anyone with a similar problem other than deleting "shipfinder" app which I don't have. There are solutions for PC users but I'm a Mac user, so if anyone out there can help me with this I'd truly appreciate it.
Another interesting thing is that if I log on to my guest account on my laptop, App store works fine. It's on my own account (administrator) that it won't work, which implies it has something to do with my account (duh)....cache? cookies? Not sure. Anyone out there have any idea? Thanks so much!

    Hello m295,
The following article contains several troubleshooting steps that can help restore functionality to the iTunes Store on your mac.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
    Troubleshooting on a Mac
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store, a software conflict or your internet service provider (ISP) may be blocking your access.
Update iTunes to the latest version.
If you have a firewall, your settings may be preventing you from connecting to the iTunes Store. To configure your firewall, please refer to the "Blocked by firewall" section in this article.
You may need to reset your keychain. Connection issues are occasionally caused by keychain issues. Click here to find out how to use Keychain First Aid to resolve any issues with your keychain.
If you are receiving a specific error message you may want to see, the "Specific Conditions and Alert Messages" section in this article as needed.
If the issue still persists, contact your internet service provider and confirm that the ports and servers in this article are enabled over your network.
    Additional Information
If the steps above did not resolve your issue, be sure that your specific alert is not listed in iTunes: Possible iTunes Store errors. Then, if your issue is still unresolved, follow steps in iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting.
    Cheers,
    Allen

  • What happens if a complete erase all content and settings is used

hi new to ipad what haven if a complete erase all content and settings is used.

It wipes your iPad back to the original out of the box state.  You'll have a picture of a USB cable and iTunes on the screen and the iPad will have to be set back up in iTunes as a completely new unit.  This is very effective if one is selling their iPad and wants everything wiped off the unit.........

  • Possible to DELETE ERASE songs FROM NANO?

Wondering if its possible to delete/erase songs, podcasts and so on from the Nano itself? If not, are there any cool hacks that allow this? I'm not up to date on all the tricks and hacks but know some Apple people that hack all the time (even iPhone) not to use without AT&T but to add cool functions.
    Not sure where to look.
Just want to delete items from device without computer.
    Thanks

*Just want to delete items from device without computer.*
I'm afraid you can't delete songs directly from the Nano, all additions and deletions have to be made through iTunes on your computer.

  • Not even a complete erase will eliminate old typed email addresses!!!!!!!!!

In trying to get rid of the email addresses that automatically come up when I start typing in the "send-to" address while composing a message, I finally opted for a complete erase of my iPhone and a reset. _+*EVEN THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM!!!!!*+_ How in the world do I get rid of these entries? These are email addresses that I have only used once and will never use again, or ones I've mistyped and contain typos. This is highly frustrating. Since I did the erase and reset, these infernal entries are either staying stored on the phone or somewhere in the iPhone backup file that iTunes uses to restore my phone number after the complete erase.
    Can anyone help????? PLEASE!!!???!?!?!?!?

The only thing you can do at this time to avoid using those "bad" addresses is to assign them a name like "BAD ADDRESS" in the contacts section. These are the steps to do it.
    1. Using the bad email address send an email to it. This way you have it in your SENT folder of your email. Once you send it, go to the SENT box.
    2. In the SENT box click on the mail you just sent. It now has an ">" inside the email address - now click inside the bad email ADDRESS - this will show you a screen where you can "add" it to a Contact....clicking add to or CREATE new (I created NEW and called it BAD ADDRESS) and now it will take you to the CONTACTS section of the iphone. Create a BAD ADDRESS contact. If you have a bunch of bad email addys make sure you have SENT an email to them so that you can add them to this BAD ADDRESS Contact Name and you can add them separately too - you must use the SENT folder, this add to Contacts cannot be done from any other email folder. However, this "fix" is only so that you don't accidently use them in your email. Creating the BAD ADDRESS contact allows your email to BOLD BAD ADDRESS in your email addresses so that you don't accidently use it. When you type the initial letter of the email addresses in the email they will still come up, accept now you've indicated that these are the BAD ADDRESSES.
Hopefully Apple will provide a fix for this, as we all make mistakes typing email addys and its not fair that they are stored forever unless we WIPE our entire phone and start over...and also we cannot use the RESTORE...or they restore the bad addy's as well.
Let me know if this helps you....I tried everything, and just to avoid sending the wrong address this is the only solution. This is truly a MAJOR FAUX PAUX as far as the usability of the day to day operations of the iPhone.
Apple, please address shortly...this is just not acceptable.
....but I do love my iPhone!
